Brittany broke up with Zeke 2 years ago and he hasn’t gotten over it. Zeke finds out from his brother Luke that Brittany is working as a bartender. Zeke doesn’t understand why and now he’s determined to figure out what he’s missing. What will happen when he finds out the truth?
I love that Zeke calls Brittany “Kitten”. I feel awful that Zeke thinks Brittany thinks he’s a broke janitor that she’s been slumming it with. I’m quite shocked at how they met but I like it. It’s amazing what a good loan can do to help a business grow and I’m so happy Zeke accomplished all he has. That bar scene was not what I was expecting at all. I really enjoyed this. Short but sweet and extremely spicy. Definitely listening to the next one!

Zeke and his brother, Luke, own an up-and-coming janitorial company and they've been hired to clean at a ritzy country club. He's presently cleaning the women's restroom when he has a slight accident with a soapy water bucket soaking his clothes. All he does is take them off and drape them over the door of the stall to dry. Within what feels like seconds, he's interrupted by the most beautiful girl as she fairly saunters into the restroom in an attempt to get away from everything stuffy back in the club. Brittany's had a few drinks and is more amused than shocked that there's a man in the women's bathroom. It's a case of instant attraction and, for Brittany, a chance to enjoy the company of a man who's not good enough for Daddy. Her father has her on a tight leash and has been very clear that she can only marry someone he approves of, so this is her chance to do something for herself. From then on, Brittany and Zeke spend all of their time together, until her father lays down the law and forces Brittany into an impossible situation. Her father insists that she break up with Zeke...now. Zeke has no idea what happened and goes back to the way things were, but he's left with a broken heart. He's certain he hates her, but Luke tells him that she's working in a bar, something has happened to bring her down a peg and he has to find out what has happened. It's a lightly angsty story with some of the hottest s*x on the planet! Ri Paige is excellent, once more, as the vocal artist who speaks life into the characters and immerses the reader in pleasure.

While the plot isn’t overly complex, it’s packed with enough heat and heart to keep you hooked. And, of course, the dirty talk was sizzling!
Ri Paige, as always, did a fantastic job narrating, adding depth to the characters and making the already steamy moments even hotter.

I listened to the audio version of The Layman, and let me just say, Ri Paige, as always, was fantastic. Her narration really brought the characters to life and added emotional depth that might’ve been missing on the page. She's definitely a highlight of the experience for me.
As for the story itself, it had real potential. The setup was interesting, Zeke, the "layman," and Brittany, the privileged “princess” reconnecting after a steamy and slightly awkward past. There was a solid plot buried in there, and I found myself wanting to know how their story would unfold.
But... then came the steam. And more steam. And then even more steam. Every time the plot started to build momentum, it was like, boom! Another intense scene that pulled me out of the emotional arc. I don’t mind a little heat (okay, maybe even a lot sometimes), but here it felt like the spicy parts started hijacking the story.
That said, I did enjoy the ending, it was satisfying, and I loved seeing characters from the first book pop in. That continuity gave it a nice layered feel. It’s just that I wish the emotional and romantic development had been allowed more space to breathe between the steamy moments.

This story was mostly one spicy moment after another with a whole lot of dirty talk. Right along all that spice was the story of Zeke, the cleaning company owner, and Brittany, the trust fund baby.
Their initial romance was actually very sweet. However, Brittany was forced to make a huge sacrifice for the love of Zeke. Her sacrifice ended their loving relationship and she couldn't tell him why. I felt sorry for this couple. They met up after two years apart, secrets were revealed and they both got their HEA.
This is book 2 in Victoria Silk's very spicy Dirty Jobs series. The stories are short and blazing hot with enough dirty talk to make your ears pink. I love that the MMC's in this series are working men with real jobs. Highly recommend the whole series.

We get Zeke and Brittany’s story in this book. We got a glimpse of Zeke in Luke’s book and I was excited to see that he gets his story told. These two are hot together and no matter how much life throws at them their love never left. Even when they lost each other they still never lost that love. When circumstances align and bring these two back into each other’s lives there is no hiding their emotions. Secrets come to light and trust must be regained but love never dies. I enjoyed the way these to find their way back to each other. Now if they can only let go of the past and look towards a future. This is a hot and steamy read with a good plot. Narrator Ri Paige does a nice job of bringing these characters to life and pulled me into the story from the start.

This is a short erotica story. It uses stereotypes to help build the imagination. The layman is young and working to build a name for himself and a good reputation for his company. He is built and sexy. The Princess is a young debutant, whose father threatens to ruin him, if she does not break things off. Years later they run into each other, turns out they are still drawn to each other. This is a steamy short story, with a story line, in addition to the primary intent of erotica. The narrator did a good job. I received a free copy of this audiobook, and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This is a follow on book from The Librarian and the Janitor and has a little more depth to it, especially for a short story. Lots of smut and dirty talk and plenty of action but with a storyline that had me rooting for them to get a HEA.
Well written and nicely narrated, this was well worth a listen and I look forward to more of the same from Victoria Silk.

A very enjoyable short listen. A second chance, erotic story. Just a little over one hour delight. I recommend.
The narrator, Ri Paige puts alot of feeling into these sexy characters. 5 stars for her as well.

I was excited to read this book because I enjoyed the first book in this series. I was poorly entertained and sad to find out this book was not written with the same enthusiasm and vigor. The plot was lacking as well as the spice and excitement put into writing this second book in the series. I will not be finishing the series.

This is such a touching story. I love the way that the author creates the characters. The MCs are absolutely amazing. I love getting to know them. The author also incorporates previous characters which is wonderful. The plot is a bit of a tricky one but I loved it. My heart really went out for Zeke and Brittany. Give this story a chance.

I thought that the story as well as the narration was good. The narrator is able to change her voice enough to distinguish between the two points of view. Zeak seems gruff to say the least especially in the beginning of the story.

The second book is just as spicy as the first! 🌶️🔥 We see Zeke first in book #1 where he is the MMC's brother. I'm glad we got a story for him to meet the woman who broke his heart and hopefully heal it! We also got to catch up with Sara and Luke from the first book!
