One Night Only by Jayci Lee is the second book in her Hans Trio series and can easily be read as a stand-alone book. This surprise baby story is emotional, heartwarming, and just a bit steamy.
A surprise baby trope can sometimes be tricky, but I liked the way the author handled this one. After a one-night stand, concert violinist, Meghan Han finds out she’s pregnant. She immediately knows she’ll keep the baby, but doesn’t know how to contact the father. Until he shows up at her home as a guest. Her baby’s father is Daniel Pak, CFO of her father’s company. In order to save his job, they decide not to tell anyone he’s the father for a while and they also decide to keep their own relationship secret.
Daniel made an adorable hero. He wanted the baby in his life from the first moment he found out and he made a great father-to-be. Meghan was also a lovely character. I loved her determination to keep Daniels's job safe, even if it meant more difficulty for herself. Overall, this was a fun, emotional, and satisfying book.

When her car gets out of gas, a stranger helps her go to the club where her musical gig was going to happen. That night they ended in bed. Three months later, she discovers that the stranger she'd slept with was Daniel Pak, her father's company new CFO. And the father of her unborn child!
Since it would be a far more complicated situation than it was that her father know about Megan's unexpected pregnancy, Daniel ask her to marry him, at first. But Megan doesn't want to be in a loveless marriage, so they come with an agreement: they will be coparenting partners and keeping Daniel's involvement in Megan's pregnancy a secret from her father for some time. Would this makes things worse for them?
Megan is determined to have what she wants in life. Coming from a loving family, she couldn't accept nothing less than marrying to someone who loves her instead of being with her for duty reasons. In this case, for the sake of their child. She thinks Daniel isn't the guy who will do that—he even told her that he doesn't believe in love. Actually, Daniel had a pretty bad experience with love and the women in his life. His mother left him with his father when he was a child and his girlfriend betrayed him as an adult. So no, he doesn't want anything love related around him. Yet their attraction is stronger than their wills and they succumb to their desires eventually. Their chemistry as a couple is what will lead them to what they really want: a strong, unconditional love we could feel through the pages of this book.
I loved this couple; they're the end of each other's shoes. Both have strong ideas about their goals. Also, they face the challenges of being parents with courage, even though they have big fears regarding how they will handle all the changes a baby brings to a new parent like them. As they go to doctor appointments and unexpected dates, their sexual tension builds with every scene and their romance is believable and magnificent.
Secondary characters are great in this book. I enjoyed the bond between the sisters and how the interact when they're together. Also, Megan's father is so charming!! Loved his matchmaking attempts and, even though he's a bit disappointed with the idea of his daughter being a single mother at the beginning, the way he supports Megan is very touching.
The first book of The Hana Trio series sets the bar pretty high, so I expected book 2 as good as its predecessor, or more. And it is. There were some flaws, to be honest, but it's a great book I would recommend to all Harlequin Desire readers. Ms. Lee knows how to tell a story with a smart writing, funny moments, strong characters and nice reading pace.

I overall really enjoyed this. While the relationship between Daniel and Megan does fall into a repetitive cycle (he wants to marry her, she only wants to marry for love, they decide they should be friends but end up in bed together), I thought they made for a cute couple. The trajectory is pretty clear from the very beginning, and there were no surprises when it came time for the 3rd act conflict. I really liked the family dynamics in general—the relationship between Megan and her father gets a lot of page time, as does Megan's relationship with her sisters, and I thought both were explored and portrayed really well.
Since this is a book that deals with a pregnancy, it might be good to know that there is a paragraph that discusses abortions and refers to the recent changes in abortion laws within the U.S. There is no abortion in the story, though.

One Night Only is another sweet romance from Jayci Lee! Even as someone who's not the biggest fan of romances with unexpected pregnancy as one of the main themes/events, Jayci Lee has has written two unexpected pregnancies in her romances that I still really enjoyed. I only wish that the romance between Daniel and Megan wasn't so back-and-forth and repetitive (many of the chapters in which the two attend Megan's prenatal appointments, unknowingly get set-up to go on dates by Megan's father, and have conversations about their different expectations when it comes to love and marriage felt exactly the same). The book was also very fast-paced, so I wish I would have been able to see more fleshed-out character development for both Daniel and Megan. Nevertheless, Daniel and Megan have a much more flirty and fun relationship in (One Night Only, compared to Angie and Jack in A Song of Secrets) and it was cool to see the difference in each of the sisters' relationships. I loved how supportive Angie, Megan, and Chloe are with one another. My favorite aspect of this book was definitely Megan's relationship with her father, which felt very like a very accurate depiction of the relationship the children of Asian immigrants have with their parents. I'm excited to read the last book in the Hana Trio, following Chloe!

Good book. Megan is dedicated to her music career as a violinist with the local chamber music organization. She also has secretly prepared a more modern electric violin piece. As the book opens, she is on her way to performing it for the first time at a club. Unfortunately, she runs out of gas on the way. She's rescued by a handsome stranger who sticks around for her performance. On an emotional high, Megan gives in to the attraction that flares with her rescuer, and they spend a passionate night together, then part ways.
When Megan discovers she's pregnant, she has no way to contact the father. Being a single mother was never in her plan, but with her family's support, she can handle it. I loved how Angie and Chloe were so excited to become aunties. Megan is more worried about telling her father, a very traditional Asian father. That worry intensifies when she meets Daniel, her father's new CFO - and the father of her baby! What will her father do when he discovers the link between his daughter and his protégé?
Daniel is stunned when he discovers that the woman he couldn't forget is his boss's daughter. His shock is multiplied when she informs him of his impending fatherhood. He immediately proposes marriage and isn't happy when Megan turns him down flat.
I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Megan and Daniel. Megan rejects Daniel's marriage proposal because she refuses to marry without love. She had the example of her parents' marriage and won't settle for anything less. Daniel doesn't believe in love. His experiences with that emotion show that it isn't real or doesn't last. His mother abandoned Daniel and his father, and Daniel's college girlfriend left him for his roommate.
There is also the issue of revealing Daniel as the father of her baby. Worried about her father's reaction, Megan concocts an elaborate scheme to solidify Daniel's position in the company so that her father won't fire Daniel when they reveal the truth. Complicating matters, the attraction between Megan and Daniel is irresistible. Giving into it is just one more secret to keep.
It was hilarious that Megan's father kept playing matchmaker for them. He wasn't subtle about it. Between their stolen times together and forced times together, Megan and Daniel had time to get to know each other. It doesn't take long for Megan to realize that she loves Daniel, but she wants her love returned. It is clear that Daniel is falling for her, too, but he shuts down that train of thought when it happens. He allows his fears to push Megan away.
After the confrontation with Megan's father reinforced their differing opinions on love, I ached for them both. But all was not lost, as support and advice came from an unexpected source. I liked how Megan and Daniel looked at their own failings and realized they had to fight for what they wanted. I loved how Megan's dad had one more trick up his sleeve, giving them a chance to make things right. I loved the ending and seeing Megan and Daniel finally showing their vulnerabilities while looking forward to a future together.

My Review: One Night Only by Jayci Lee was a surprise hit with this reader. I genuinely loved it. The story elements were captivating, and the characters were all so very interesting.
This wonderful romance showcased the ever-developing relationship between Daniel Pak and Megan Han, two highly driven adults who shared a link unbeknownst to them.
At the heart of the story, readers learn that one night of shared passion leads to an unexpected pregnancy. Soon after, a surprise reunion brings the "strangers in the night" back together. Faced with a dose of reality, the two lovers must decide on a course of action that works for them. Will their one night lead to forever?
My Final Say: The Han Sisters were a special group of women. I would love to know each of their stories. The author did a great job of introducing them in this work.
One More Thing: Will Chloe and Anthony turn out to have an enemies to lovers romance? Something tells me that Chloe's gaming nemesis is none other than the musician. Hmm... Also, Angie and Joshua seemed to share a cherished kind of love. What is their story? Do tell.

Megan Hana, a violinist with the local chamber music organization and a trio with her sisters, is restless and looking for a challenge. She secretly signed up for a gig at an open act night at a local club, playing on a modern electric violin. Car problems almost cause her to be late until a knight in a Maserati, Daniel, drives up to save the day, driving her to the club and staying for her performance. These two hit it off; attracted to each other they end up having a one-night stand. As happens, there are consequences and Megan is pregnant. She’s excited to become a mom, knows her sisters will be supportive, but not so sure about telling her traditional Asian father. She never learned Daniel’s last name or how to contact him, so imagine her surprise when she walks into her father’s house and sees Daniel sitting with her father. Daniel Pak, her father's company new CFO, is shocked to learn that the woman he couldn't forget is his boss's daughter and is pregnant with his baby. One Night Only continues the Hana Trio series with a romance that swept me off my feet from start to finish. Complicated, yeah, but oh so good.
Megan is a violinist in the sisters’ musical trio, and although they mainly perform traditional pieces, Megan is experimenting with a slightly different approach… and it is, in some ways, that slight turn from the traditional will land her discovering her car is out of gas, accepting the kindness of a stranger, and allowing the joy of the moment of success to give in to the intense desire for a man she knows little about beyond that he’s kind and so sexy it steals her breath away. Fast forward a few months and Megan is facing a challenge she never expected – single motherhood for she has no idea how to contact the father of her unborn baby. Imagine her surprise when Daniel shows up at her home as her father’s new CEO. Yeah. Complicated, indeed.
Let me say upfront that I absolutely love the sisters’ father. He is adorable if traditional in some ways, yet modern in others even if he’s somewhat set in his ways, but his heart only wants his girls to be happy… and he’s not afraid to do some matchmaking along the way!
Megan has her parents’ marriage as a goalpost. She wants it all and sees no reason why she cannot have her career, and true love… and she’ll settle for no less than a man who loves her heart and soul just like her dad loved her mom. She might be falling for Daniel but he’s declared early on that he doesn’t believe in this elusive thing called love. It’s just chemistry, attraction, and nothing more. Unfortunately, Daniel has been wounded deeply by women in his past beginning with his mother so his view is a bit skewed but is also about to change when Megan refuses to marry for the sake of their child and will accept nothing less than a man who loves both her and their baby – forever.
I loved this couple, they’re stubborn, funny, frustrating, and adorable and it’s obvious that they love each other even if Daniel doesn’t know how to put those feelings into the words that Megan needs to hear. We’ll also get to catch up with familiar faces from earlier in the series. I simply had a blast back in this world and if you love a well-written romance with believable people trying to find their way into each other’s hearts – at times in a bit of a convoluted fashion – then you’d feel right at home with Megan and Daniel in One Night Only.

One Night With You is undoubtedly the best thing Jayci Lee has written, and that’s saying a lot, given my rocky relationship with her writing (both in category and novel length). But the sheer depth to the relationships depicted and the sensitivity with which some of the central issues were handled are major pluses for me.
For one, it says upfront it’s about accidental pregnancy. And while Harlequin categories are usually more upfront about this than other publishers, I still inexplicably found several that didn’t list it in their blurbs, yet decided it was a great surprise plot element to drop on readers. Not so here. And I love the brief, yet necessary acknowledgment of reproductive rights and choice: Megan acknowledges her privilege to live in a state where abortion is legal (even noting how for some the right to choose is being taken away), and makes the conscious choice with all that in mind to keep the baby. It’s a lot more than most contemporaries with pregnancy plotlines I’ve read this year.
I really liked Megan and Daniel’s dynamic for the most part. Relationships that start with sex can be a hard sell for me, but I got the sense they truly cared for each other beyond that, especially with the baby meaning both their priorities shifted. I did find the whole “she wants to marry for love, he’s jaded because of past heartbreak” a little silly, especially with the added element of him being willing to marry for duty. Without extra cultural context (which wasn’t present), it felt a lot like it was plopped right out of a historical romance.
I also loved Megan’s relationship with her father. He supports her, even if he doesn’t completely endorse her choices, as a good parent should. And I appreciate how he handled the situation with Daniel when the secret came out.
This is a sweet read, and it hit most of the right notes for me. If you’re looking for a heartfelt, short read with a great romantic arc and family subplot, I recommend picking this up!

oKay, I enjoyed this...a lot.
Daniel abandoned by his mom early in life and lived with a dad who couldn't return his love struggled to find his place in this world. Believing that someone could love him JUST for him being him is/was hard. Trust isn't a easy thing for Daniel but Megan Han steps into his world and tilts it.
Megan has always come from a family full of love and support so her one night stand with Daniel is a struggle she didn't know she needed. Her feelings for Daniel grow more intense as they spend more time together. However, getting Daniel to see that he is worthy of her love OR love in general is a road she isn't prepared to travel.
I just love that Jayci Lee takes the Asian American experience and very much gives us romance. As with many of her stories, I enjoyed One Night Only. I loved the chemistry between Daniel and Megan. I'm not much of a fan of suprise baby plots but I feel like it worked well here. Megan keeping the baby from her dad kind of worked my nerves but I understood it.
This was a cute sweet read and I enjoyed it.

Megan Han is dedicated violinist, but she wants something more. To step outside Hana Trio and have something of her own so she agrees to play rock violin at a place called the Tipsy Dahlia. On her way there her car stops, and she stuck on the side of the road until a stranger comes to her rescue this is where she meets CFO Daniel Pak well Megan doesn't exactly know who he is yet. He drives her to her performance and stays watches Megan perform afterwards she can't help herself. Megan decides to be spontaneous have a one-night stand with this handsome stranger and then three months later she gets unexpected surprise. Daniel has issues and has to deal with a lot of past hurts from abandonment with his parents and ex and Megan doesn't want to disappoint her father or Daniel losing his job, so she comes up with a plan to keep a secret which ultimately explodes in both of their faces. I absolutely loved the dad he was the best kind of reminded me of my own dad.

I liked this quite a bit!
There's just something so humourous and charming about Jayci Lee's writing. I've enjoyed the books she's written for Desire. Megan and Daniel's road to HEA was not an easy one, of course, I just wished everything didn't play out exactly as I expected. Also, the conflict to me seemed to drag out. This might have been better suited as a rom-com than as a Desire book. I wish I could have rated this higher, but I found myself wanting to just finish the book as I got closer to the end and the pages weren't turning fast enough. That said, the next sister Chloe's story I will probably check out as well.

This book was not one that I had initially intended on reading. While waiting for a client to finish her errands, I was standing around in the books section. After looking around for a bit, I found this book, read the summary, and I liked it (perhaps even more because I'm actually a violinist), so we made our respective purchases and went on our way. I bought this book for cheap too- less than five dollars. And my client only jested me a little.
On an unrelated note, I love the cover. The purple dress looks really good on Megan and with the violin in her hands it looks like she's truly in the moment. There's also the stage, the way her fingers are shifting to a higher position, I am a bit surprised that she isn't using a shoulder rest or something similar to hold up the violin, but it looks like she's balancing it pretty well. The position of Daniel's hands also fall naturally into place as to how close he is to her emotionally (and the dress barely conceals her blossoming pregnancy.)
Being honest, it took a while to get into this book, but I will say that I really liked it. The prologue was nicely done. Starting off with the sisters performing was a good choice, while also highlighting Megan's desire for her own spotlight.
I was a bit taken back when we had a timeskip to three months later. I was surprised that their first time having sex wasn't shown (anticipating that it would be), but perhaps it adds to the whole anonymity of the situation. The steamy parts took a while to show, but when they did, boy did they deliver!
Something else I was a bit surprised with (but am in no way mad about), was the mention of abortion and the legality of it (but still personally choosing not to) in a pregnancy romance novel. I don't know how long the author had been working on this book, but I suspect that might have been edited or added in specifically because of the fall of Roe v. Wade.
Anyway, moving on before this becomes too political...
The word choice throughout the book was well chosen. Daniel and Megan's fears are very understandable (Daniel being betrayed and worried that he isn't worthy of love and Megan being stuck in a loveless marriage.)
And Daniel... poor man. He really needs some self-esteem.
I really enjoyed all the musical elements and references, such as Daniel giving Megan a Stradivarius violin as a gift.
The character development is also on point, and Megan's father might just be the best example of that. Appa, while understandably flawed, is surprisingly a good dad. His initial anger towards discovering the truth of Daniel's "betrayal". Ultimately he wants to see his daughter happy, and tries to help her as best as he can.
It also seems that this book is the second in a series, something I did not realize until later. That might also explain why the location isn't mentioned very often like I hoped it would be. For a long time, I thought it wasn't mentioned at all. However, after skimming the pages I eventually found a page describing the city's traffic. The story is located in Los Angeles, which also lines up with my earlier observation on state policies (as California is a more pro-Choice state). Statistics aside, I do kinda wish the location was mentioned a bit more.
I'd like to see Josh and Angie's story in A Song of Secrets and perhaps even Chloe and Anthony's story in Just a Few Fake Secrets.
There were a few things I personally would have liked to see (such as the wedding between Megan and Daniel), but overall, it was a wonderful book.
I'd rank this as a 4.7/5, rounding up.

This Harlequin Desires title packs a pleasing punch of a romance into a short package! The main characters were both likable and drew me in quickly, though I don’t always like one night stands or “secret baby” romances. Jayci Lee does a great job with character development and the scenes between the leads are fun and satisfying to read. This was the first one of her books I read, but I’ll definitely be picking up more!

Thank you Goodreads Giveaways for this book. After reading an incredibly emotional book about World War II, I was very happy to read One Night Only. I haven’t read Harlequins in numerous years and quite honestly I don’t know why I stopped. This particular book was a fun, engaging, romantic read. The premise of the book and its eventual resolution was well written, believable and not stereotypical. I loved the dynamics between Megan and her family.

Strong denial of their own feeling enveloped relationship of Megan & her one night stand’s stranger, Daniel. Despite their passionate psychical interaction, both of them are expert in keeping their own feeling. Add one white lie to save Daniel position in Megan’s father’s company, it will create such a conflict for this second book of Hana Trio series. Well, still similar concept with the first book, right?

Jayci Lee did not disappoint with this read. A one night stand turned pregnancy with the bosses daughter! This book started fast but ended slow. Another book in the Han sisters series and I loved it! The love between Megan and Danielle. This book was so hard to put this book down. Definitley a page turner. A MUST read!.

Ah, the 1 night stand leads to pregnancy trope. Somehow it didn't bother me as much as it usually does, maybe because the Hana sisters are such strong characters on their own.

Violinist Megan Han has a one night stand after a concert and finds herself pregnant. Three months later she comes home to find her paramour, Daniel Pak, in her kitchen and he is introduced to her as the new CFO at her father’s company. The two pretend to meet for the first time and quickly decide to keep the paternity of the baby from Megan’s father. The two spend time together and begin dating in secret but the guilt keeps them confessing their true feelings.
Romances centering around pregnancy can be hit or miss for me and this one worked for me. I’ve read a couple of Jayci’s trade romances and find her writing easy to read and compelling. I liked both Megan and Daniel. While the secrecy driving the plot was unrealistic, I can call it “romance reasons” and just accept that category romances just are this way and can enjoy them. I really enjoyed Megan’s sister and will need to go back and read Angie’s book and keep an eye out for Chloe’s story when it comes out.

There is a lot of back and forth between them and for a time it seemed like they were at a standstill. I liked the storyline, it's the kind of story that pulls you in and you just have to know what happens next. What I didn't like what the dialogue between them.
