Devon is from the UK, having lived in many places until finally settling in the Midlands. His career in public services started in his teens and has provided a wealth of experiences, both good and some very bad, which form the basis of the book ideas that cause regular insomnia.
He first started reading for fun as an adult, having tried his hardest to avoid anything resembling academia growing up, and at that point the world became a far bigger place. He has been reading, at least one book at a time, ever since.
His debut works, the After It Happened series, (Survival, Humanity, Society) were published in April 2016 followed by Hope (July 2016) and Sanctuary (December 2016). The first part of the series concluded with the release of Rebellion which was published in June 2017.
Storming high into the charts with the first books of the After It Happened series, Devon launched into the top 10 sellers listings in the UK, Australia, Canada and the US, and he made the decision to write full time shortly after the launch of Hope.
Devon’s self-published beginnings caused a stir in the publishing world, and resulted in contracts with Podium Publishing for Audible, narrated by R.C. Bray (The Martian, Expeditionary Force, Arisen), before a publishing deal for kindle and paperbacks with Vulpine Press.
Further works have seen the start of a multi-author series, sci-fi/post-apocalyptic cross genre, futuristic dystopian and alternative history zombie apocalypse. Spin-off books from the After It Happened world have been announced for 2018.
The 3rd and final book did have many editing issues. However, the story was so well developed and the people so real and magnetic, i could practically ignore them (and i am a real stickler about good editing, so that shows how excellent the story was). The ending was perfect. I love this story and now include Mr. Ford as one of my favorite authors, along with Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Janet Evanovich, Bobby Adair, and several others. If you enjoy exciting dystopic stories, you will love this one.
Title says it all. I truly loved the writing of this trilogy. Character development was good. Steady paced. Interactions were believable and the technical knowledge was pitched perfectly. Seemed to be knowledgeable without being bored by statistics. Military chat was good too. All in all- a bloody good read. Sad the journey is over!
This has been a really great series and was an exciting end to the story. There was still plenty going on and lots of action to keep you riveted. Really looking forward to see what's coming next from Mr Ford .
Great finish to the series. Narration feels alive and distinctive voices (and actually good accent changes) for each character. Ford’s love of animals comes through even more, with lighthearted interactions that break up the seriousness of the world.
Good conclusion that continued the highly paced plots from the previous books. I enjoyed the characters and their interactions, although overall the series itself doesn't overly stand out to me. The narration was great.
Great characterisation and a happy ending. Still don't understand who or why someone would nuke, bomb and poison a country with no reason and no plan to invade.
I can’t believe I’ve devoured this series of books so quickly! I would definitely urge you to read these books. The characters are great, excellent story and a nice ending.
Loved all three books, book 2 not as good as the first and final book. I thought the author did brilliant with the characters, chunk and sugar were stars in their own right!
