She knew how to run and hide. Now she must learn how to stand and fight.
After years of hiding from her past, Lydia Anderson confronted all her demons to take her place at the heart of Pack Saint Clair at last. But just as she was poised to claim her victory and her lovers, one of them was ripped from her arms and from the pack itself. Rhett Cooper faces criminal charges far from home…and Lydia’s heat may arrive before he can be freed.
To claim Lydia as their bond mate, Pack Saint Clair must shake free of the treacherous Seth Douglas once and for all, and find a way to bring Rhett home. As they fight for their future, any mistake could cost them everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve.
They’re running out of time and options with enemies closing in on all sides. The difficult choices ahead will alter the course of Lydia’s life, and the lives of her chosen family, forever.
Laurels and Liquor is the final book in the Pack Saint Clair series, and will give our heroes the Happily Ever After we've been waiting for. This series contains MMMFF/poly dynamics, as well as BDSM themes. Please reference the Author's Note at the beginning of the book for a full list of potential triggers discussed in this book.
Thora has been a lifelong dreamer and creator of stories. From acting out elaborate and daring rescues with her dolls as a child, to putting pen to paper and fingers to keys as an adult, she has honed her voice and craft through years of work and practice.
A romantic at heart, Thora fell in love with the romance genre through books like Lola and the Millionaires, The Devil's Syndicate series, and many more. Now she has taken the first steps toward sharing the stories in her heart with the world.
✅✅ Smut (MM, FF, MF, group) ✅ Characters ✅ Healing journey ✅ Reverse harem ✅ Development of the relationships in the pack ✅ Sweet romance ✅ Found family ✅🆗 Pace 🆗 Plot ❗️❗️Trigger warnings: mentions of past sexual abuse, past and present physical abuse, murders, manipulation, stalking, threats, BDSM, stabbing, abduction, and drug use (non-con).
It was a nice and satisfying ending to the trilogy, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if the author didn,t dragged the plot for so long, and wrapped it all up nicely in two books instead. Maybe, remove a little smut to make room for the plot too.
This book picks up right where the second one ended, with Lydia, Lucas, Caleb, and Rhett trying to take off in their jet, but being stopped by the police as Rhett is now under arrest for attacking Darren.
There is a lot of smut in this book, but not a lot of relevant plot. I’m talking here about a heat that goes on for over 50 pages, and sex scenes here and there to try to keep us hooked, but once you remove all the smut, almost nothing happens in this final book. I feel the same way as I did when I first heard that Breaking Dawn would be separated into 2 parts (or any other big franchise deciding to split the last movie of the series). I am wondering why that choice was made, because there is definitely not enough plot to justify writing 2 books totalizing almost 1000 pages.
The fact that Rhett was separated from his pack for half of the book didn’t help either. I struggle a lot with the “being separated” trope when it drags on for too long. I don’t mind it at all when it’s for a short period, especially if it adds angst and tension to the story, but when it goes on for too long, I just get frustrated and annoyed. Sadly, it went on for too long in this book. Rhett and Lydia were apart for half of the book, and when Rhett finally came back, Lydia went into heat so we were treated to an over 50 pages smut fest, meaning that until the 65% mark, there were very few meaningful interactions between Rhett and the other members of the pack.
The other pack members had more time with Lydia, and more time together to develop deeper bonds though, and even new romantic relationships. I was not a fan at first when I realized that eventually, they would almost all end up being in love and having sex with each other. I liked the idea that they all shared strong bonds, but some of them were in love, while others were just best friends. The author managed to make it work though, but I am still not convinced that nearly all of them needed to end up in a romantic relationship. Again, I feel that it only served to add more smut to the book, as the sexual tension that was present between some members of the pack hadn’t been there or that apparent at all in the previous books, so for me it just came out of nowhere.
The last 20% were not necessary. Everything was resolved with Lydia’s family and the pack getting rid of Seth, but the author had to add another twist to prolong the book. It was exciting and added tension to the book, but it was not a necessary twist. It feels more like an excuse to add yet more smut to the smut-fest that was this book. Lydia and her pack could have had their HEA without this final part, but I guess now all loose ends are finally tied up.
I think everything is resolved for Lydia and her pack, and I hope the author will leave it at that, but I would be curious to read a book about Delano, Gideon, and Hunter and their mysterious omega.
This is one of the best omegaverse series I’ve read. It’s one of my favorite polyamorous relationships of all time. MMMFF. It’s so rare to have FF in this genre but so refreshing and beautiful as well. All loose ends are tied. All conflict resolved. And that epilogue?? 😍
My reviews on these books prior to this have been really short since I had no words just love for these characters. Here’s a short summary of each of the pack members:
Lydia (omega): FMC; had escaped a crazy religious and controlling family that had been trying to force her to be with her abusive ex. She grew so much throughout these three books it was wonderful. She is such a loving and generous soul who puts her partners first.
Rhett (alpha): I would marry Rhett Cooper. He is a dom and the best kind. The type to try out toys on himself to make sure his loved ones will be comfortable and enjoy the experience. He’s a fucking boss and a protector and fighter. Literally willing to die to protect his pack. I cannot express how much I love this sweet, strong man. He’s so caring. I love whenever I am able to read his POV.
Lucas (beta): The only beta in this pack but just as important. He’s a chef and a shit-stirrer. God he makes me laugh. When he’s a sub, he rebels and seeks the punishments for being bad. His sex scenes are something else. I love seeing him and Lydia together as well.
Mateo (alpha): Mateo is like a Romeo in my mind. He’s a smooth talker pretty boy with a heart of gold. He’s the life of the party with depth others might find surprising.
Lex (alpha): Alexandra (Lex) is the prime alpha of this pack. She’s the definition of a boss bitch. I think we all drool a little over how put together and strong this woman is. She’s a business woman and a dom as well. Her character growth in this book blew my mind. It was sooo good watching her loosen up and put her pack first. Her scenes with the boys are drool-worthy and the scenes with Lydia… damn.
It was refreshing to see their dynamics shift in fun ways in this one. New sexual relationships were formed within the pack, and the emotional connections were strengthened. We had some dom-sub relationships flip at times and oh my god it blew my mind. So fucking hot. This book is for anyone looking for true polyamory. There’s no cheating and all relationships are within the pack. Flips between everyone’s POV. I cannot express how highly I recommend reading this series. It’s a 10/10 for me. ♥️
I have been waiting for the conclusion of these series, but unfortunately I have to DNF this book.
There are a few things that I was feeling less than stellar about in the book, but there is a scene around 27% between Lucas, and Mateo that just really rubbed me the wrong way. In particular, it was the use of A to M in conjunction with the degradation talk between two individuals who didn’t have a prior relationship beyond friendship and had no conversation about limits or anything and it just felt really gross and I was just cringing the whole time even as I skimmed past. I kept reading to around 34% but it’s still not sitting well and it’s just made me not really want to keep going. It also felt a bit forced for the author to at this point start pushing together characters that previously were platonic. Like they were trying to fill out their polyam bingo card.
I would love to know how the plot goes in the rest of this story because I do actually like the plot, but I just really hate the sex scenes in it and would have to skim most of the book to get the story. I wasn’t a major fan of the way this author writes sex scenes in the first two books either, but I do think the plot and characters are interesting so I thought I could just push past them in this one.
I see a lot of people loved it though and I’m happy for them 😅
I think this series should have been one book, or at most a duet. The 2nd and 3rd books are filled with drama and plot twists that seem unnecessary and just cause emotional trauma for the characters. Also, for a group of people that is supposed to be powerful they can't seem to control or figure anything out for all three books. Additionally, the 3rd book did had random plots at the end bringing back people and plots that were supposed to be resolved. Really makes this book seem like a waste of time and that the whole series wasn't thought out properly.
Laurels and Liquor is the most anticipated conclusion to the Pack Saint Clair Series and it couldn’t be a better one. This book is packed with intense emotion, brilliant character development, incredible smutty scenes and high heat.
Thora Woods didn’t leave a single loose end. She was thorough while giving us everything we had anticipated and much more. I couldn’t ask for more. This is one of my favorite series of 2022 and one of the best endings to a series I’ve ever read.
She managed to give each pack member enough screen time to fully develop their romance, creating a very intimate and tight knitted pack. These characters work together like a charm, they fit like a glove, and their devotion for each other is truly beautiful to witness.
A common theme all of my favorite reads of this year could probably be described as chosen family of polyamory bisexuals madly in love with one another. And this book is such a great example of just that. The way every single relationship grew more intimate, the way each of them opened up and showed their vulnerability to their pack, the way everyone ended up involved with everyone else… I was in heaven while reading this brilliant masterpiece.
Lex was my absolutely favorite thing in this book. Her development was delicious, and to finally see her in her most vulnerable and open moments made me so emotional. I’m so happy Woods didn’t shy away from showing us how Lex loves her pack outside and inside the nest. Her sex scenes were so intense and raw, I needed a whole damn minute each time. She made us wait for it, but it was so worth it!
Lucas remains my number one brat and he made every single scene so much better by just being there. But Woods was very clever by giving screen time to other characters and relationships that needed it more.
Lex and Mateo were such a nice surprise. Their dynamic was so delightful and fun. I just loved their constant pull and push and how Mateo stripped Lex of all her controlled layers and made her get out of her comfort zone, so to speak.
This book had so many group activities and “surprising” smut scenes. I love it when an author brings something to the table. And Thora Woods definitely brought new ideas into the Omegaverse genre. For example, I think I lost a few brain cells when Lydia used her omega slick to scent mark her beta…
The epilogue melted my heart and got me all teary eyed. I have this bittersweet, melancholy feeling you get after you finish an amazing series. It’s like falling in love, and I’m addicted to it.
And the best part is that Woods gave us a hint at who’s coming next and I cannot wait for Gideon, Hunter and Delano to blow our minds.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - Omegaverse - MF / MM / FF - MMMFF - Poly bi pack - Daddy kink - Group activities - Light BDSM themes - Rope play - Bratty male sub - Female Domme Alpha - Male Dom Alpha
☠️☠️ - Abuse - Religious trauma - Homophobic language - Mental health issues - Gun and knife violence - Horrible mother
I actually cried out of frustration at this book twice. I was really annoyed with how some of the dynamics played out in the relationships. I felt like the focus really shifted away from Lydia and to the pack as a whole which made her seem almost like an afterthought. :-(.
I was so drawn to the series and couldn't wait to read the 3rd and final book. But it was chaotic and didn't in my opinion need so much Seth issues. Kill him and be done with it. He ended up dead anyway did you really need to do the last bit about the blockers and bring him back. World building great characters great. Ending was a dumpster fire.
This is a sm*t-heavy omegaverse, but it also has a great plot and is well-written (no typos, language flows, etc.). It also is heavy on the triggers, but I'm glad I finished the trilogy.
This final installment had moments where the story was a little slower, but I ultimately liked it. Often when RHs have another female character within the harem, I don't think that it is handled well and the RH dynamics do not make sense to me. Fortunately, I thought this harem was written extremely well, and the characters seamlessly all fit together and made sense as characters developing together. The spice was also really, really fantastic.
My one complaint with this entire trilogy is that Pack Saint Clair, and specifically Lex, are supposed to be this extremely powerful pack, but throughout the series, they continuously made every single wrong decision. It was painful to read at times because both the reader AND the characters know that they are making a bad decision, but you still had to see it through. The 5 main characters just could not catch a break, and they fell into every single possible trap. I was frustrated because Lex, Rhett, and Matteo are supposed to be really smart business-people, yet, they were all so stupid in every single one of their schemes. Literally none of their plans worked--not once. It got really frustrating to keep reading at certain points.
Otherwise, great omegaverse. I probably won't re-read, but I enjoyed reading it as the books were released.
Sorry this wasn’t for me- I can’t stand the lack of communication between these “Pack” mates. I thought they were more on equal footing but it seems Alexandra is in charge and she doesn’t make good decisions.
I read Auyrn Hadley and those Poly/RH characters talk about their feelings and emotions and permissions until I can’t take it anymore but this is the opposite.
This series had potential and even most of this book could have been fine with a hefty does of editing.
The main downfall of this book is that it went on for too long after the story was complete. The story was over
Instead of leaving it where the story had a natural ending, TW decided to add some extra unnecessary plot points. My main issue with making the story continue past its logical conclusion is that the characters had to act in a way that was not within character to make plot points occur. Very few things bother me as much as being able to visualize an author sitting there with their plot note cards saying, I have to do x, y, or z because that's what I said I would do at the beginning.
Rant ahead: I'm sorry, but I know, I know... it is just a book.
The last 20% of the book, didn't feel poetic. It just feels like the author hates the FMC and does not respect the reader. I could barely get through the last of it and shouldn't have finished it at all.
There is a lot to like about the first two books and the author has a good style and built some good relationships. There are definitely moments where the writing is far more sophisticated than other omegaverse books. However, I will say this book was massively disappointing due to the last 20%. Even though I'd imagine there's a story left for Jason and Gabby that I would love to have read, I will have to think twice about reading this author again. So much investment for so much disgust in the end isn't worth it.
Whew. This book put me through the ringer of emotions a little.
I loved the emotional bonding of the characters in this series. I know the main complaints is that this book was too long, but, I enjoyed the “slice of life” feel it gave as I read the characters explore their unconventional relationship. There are multiple dynamics and each character provided a different need for their partner, emotionally and physically. So whilst I agree, it dragged out a little, I can honestly say I wasn’t bored.
The negatives would be the miscommunication, and constant repetition of actions that result in the same messy outcome. Have we not learnt? The climax at the end left me more pissed off than anything. It was a HEA but it was extremely frustrating to read, honestly. It just made me irritable. However, I am SO glad Lydia got a happy ending. Please let that girl be happy and unburdened for all eternity, PLEASE.
Overall, this has been a decent reintroduction into the omegaverse world. I anticipate reading more!
I loved the first two books. They had an actual plot. I am one of the few people (it seems) who expects a plot even in a smut book. This book had a tiny plot, stuffed into the near very end just to say it was there, and the rest is just smut.
Spoilers
This book starts slow, so so slow. It took me like a month to read it because I kept getting bored after a paragraph or two and would put it down. Then, as if the author was tired of the long-running intricate plot lines developed in the first two books, all of the plots are very neatly tied up with a ribbon and a bow, in like one scene. Now, without a plot to have to deal with, the book becomes just Smut. Sitting in a car with her best friend and grandma? Smut. Talking on the phone? Smut. Standing in an active construction site? Smut. Helping a friend give birth? The start of a multi-chapter smut scene. Seriously, I think this scene lasted at least four full chapters! It might have been more! Most of this book is just day to day life, taking any and all excuses to smut! Towards the very, very end, a plot bow unravels, and two previous bad guys break out of their gift boxes. Cause a chapter of havoc that ends with the need for more smut! An emergency smut! The entire storyline could have been a short novella, and this book should have just been called Lily and Smut.

With a lot of skipping and skimming I got this far. Thankfully one #cakeeater took one for the team and read it all. A lot of the plot is unnecessary drama. Rule one in a Poly relationship: communicate and don't keep secrets. And this is the rule broken all over the series, even though they promise to tell the truth. The series ended with a lot of bodily fluids and sex and a lot of Drama. Always when something is solved, it will pop up again later.
This series went downhill for me. I liked the first book, because it was more about relationship building and a plot. But then it became relationship (sex driven) at some point.
Talking about sex: Everybody is kinky. Lydia and Lucas, because they participate in kink the Alphas want willingly. There is a Domina relationship with Lex, a control and dominance relationship with Rhett and a Daddy relationship with Mat. Of course only in the bedroom. I'm actually not judging the kink, because I do not really care what people do in their bedrooms. Good for you. But readers who don't love kinks, should know this.

This was the weirdest omegaverse series I’ve ever read. First let me say the covers do not match the content. I’d suggest updating, as those covers do not convey the amount of smut in this final instalment. Other than Katee Robberts, Court of the Vampire Queen, I’ve never read a book that had so much potential and yet so little execution. Time spent on detailed sex scenes, that were totally over done felt wasted. I’d much rather have been shown what certain characters were doing to progress the “plot” than being told.
Plot: 📚out of 5 Characters: 👩🏻🦰 out of 5 Smut: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 out of 5 (that’s for the sheer amount of it)
Over all, the only reason I gave 3 out of 5 was because the authors voice was done well. The story written well, and the hope that their next series (no doubt about Lex’s cousins) focus more on plot and character growth than an unneeded and over abundant amount of spice.
Does the world of omegaverse have cystitis? Asking for a character.
Would I recommend this book and this series? Unfortunately, no…not unless you had read everything in you TBR and on your KU downloads.
But hey…this is personal preference and only my thoughts on this series. You may not feel the same.
Laurels and Liquor by Thora Woods is an omegaverse romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Matt Haynes and Maeve York. This is the third and final book in the Pack Saint Clair series.
This is the first series of Thora's that I have read, and it definitely won't be my last. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Lydia, Rhett, Mateo, Lucas, and Alexandra. Their relationship was messy, but you couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
Matt and Maeve did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this series if you like omegaverse romances, why choose romances, MMMFF romances or contemporary romances.
What a fantastic ending I didn’t know I needed all of this to happen but I’m so glad it did. Fricken fantastic. Also the Easter eggs of what I’m guessing an upcoming series by the same author. I will 100% listen to this authors audio books again in future. The narration was done fabulously. For me this is the exact right mix of smut and storyline. Worth the listen Great series. 4.5 stars
I liked this series less the more I read it, but just had to see it through to the end. This series was very high drama with a lot of things happening with very little resolution.
This is the last book in Lydia’s story and it has everything you could ever want; romance, spice, action, revenge. The entire trilogy is a masterpiece and this book wraps it up spectacularly. Some breadcrumbs were dropped, hinting at possible future stories with new characters, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I hate to see this polyamorous knot of love and angst go.
This is the most perfect ending to this trilogy I could’ve asked for! It’s long and fulfilling. Dare I say, at one point I felt like I was getting too much info. These characters did not want their story to be complete. And neither did I. There was angst, drama, and satisfaction.
ALSO - I GOT MY LEX AND LYDIA PAYOFF AND IT WAS SO 🦆ing SATISFYING!!!!!! Of all of these incredible pairings it was Lex and Lydia that I was losing my mind for. I was so happy to see them really embrace that chemistry.
But it wasn’t just Lex and Lydia that got their payoff. The entire pack got closer through everything they went though and it was just beautiful to witness. I spent the entire story with my heart pounding - either from the stress of everything that’s going on or the joy of seeing these characters love each other.
I can’t wait to see how Thora proceeds within this universe. There’s soooooooooo much potential for spin-offs and I’m going to be FERAL for all the info I can get on these characters.
Overall, I highly highly highly recommend this story. The entire trilogy is amazing and without a doubt my favorite of 2022! And now that it’s complete those people (like me) who don’t like cliffhangers can read the whole thing without having to wait for the next one. It’s three books of 5 stars, 4+Ish chili peppers throughout the whole story. Seriously, read it, you won’t regret it.
That said, check the trigger warnings. Thora’s list is comprehensive, but you’ll want to read it for sure. There’s some intense content. I do believe that it’s handled with care, but there are a lot things to potentially make it tough for you. If you have any specific worries about anything please feel free to ask.
Oh, huge thanks to the author for trusting me with an ARC. This is my honest review.
So disappointed this didn't end up working out for me! I loved book 1 of this series but the next two were just so dragged out with way too many unnecessary plot points.
We never change antagonists but there are so many instances of them being defeated and then coming back and then being defeated and coming back and god at some point, I just wasn't invested enough anymore.
Especially with this one, there's a moment at 75%/80% that didn't feel like a typical "oh there's gonna be drama!!"-moment but a "this book is OVER, this is written as if it's OVER, why are we continuing"
I still loved most of the characters, especially Lucas really won me over in this installment and while Lydia and I weren't always on the same page, there are definitely worse MC's.
Like others have pointed out, Lex is just sadly such an infuriating character at times, truly the queen of miscommunication and I would've been fed up with her about two books ago.
In conclusion, more sex, less miscommunication please.
I really enjoyed the first two books, it held my attention all the way through. Unfortunately this last one lost me.
There was too much telling and not enough showing. Things were talking about way after they happened when we as readers could have been experiencing the situations with the characters.
I never thought I would complain about too much smut, but it wasn’t balanced with spicy scenes to plot. I felt I was missing a lot from the story.
The final conflict finally caught my attention after I went days of forcing myself to read. I don’t like to DNF so I wanted to finish this.
This is written well don’t get me wrong, I just struggled more with this one verses the first two that I read within two days.
I did like how it ended and that helped me deal with the struggle of reading.
I was hoping this was more something like Lola and the Millionaires but it wasn’t. I don’t like how the author connected all of the characters sexually, I felt like it removed that whole idea that related to Lola. Anyway, I didn’t like this one. It was difficult to read.
Unfortunately I was very excited to read this book to get it off my ‘current reads’ list and just be done with the series.
Pros: Spicy scenes and that’s about it.
(This may be a reader problem more of an author problem but while I don’t mind, and even love, when a book is all spice, if an author decides to introduce plot, it better be good, and I didn’t think the plot was good at all.)
Few things that bugged me. 1. Lex/The Pack not telling Lydia about the Seth fiasco until like a month later and only cause someone else brought it up, if we’re trying to sell this as a healthy relationship, that ain’t it, and so far into their relationship is a no-go, it would’ve made sense earlier in the relationship or to skip it for a few days but a whole ass month, no thanks fam.
2. Good god almighty, this ‘I have security but still manage to get attacked/taken’ trope is so annoying to me. And with how many times Lydias been attacked, c’mon now, it’s redundantly boring at this point.
3. Uh, Lex and fam spewing this nonsense about being better than her father than dumping bodies and whatnot. I’m all for shady shit every day of the week but don’t try to justify it as being ok for them and not for others. It weakens her claim to hating her father.
That’s the big stuff, I’d have loved this if this just focused on the sex and a few scenes just getting from sex scene to the next but this conundrum of a plot and bizarre motivations/justifications/plot point just grated.
