He’s her fan. She’s his. They’ve never met... Until now.
TV star Peter King is looking for his next big project. When the highly anticipated last book of his favorite fantasy series releases, Peter has the brilliant idea to turn it into an epic TV show. He just has to convince elusive author S.J.Nolan to let him option the film rights.
Saoirse isn't sure she can trust Peter. Her life hasn't been the same since someone exposed her true identity online. Since then, she's been riddled with writer's block, her ex-boyfriend wants to reconnect and Peter's stardom brings attention and trouble to her somewhat quiet routine.
To seal the TV deal, Peter returns to Ireland for the first time in over a decade. He must face his family and a tragedy that made him leave. All the while, trying not to fall for Saoirse who has her own secrets.
As production begins they must resist the urge to mix business with pleasure. Will their professional partnership survive the tension or become something more?
Jordan Kate Buck lives in Perth, but originally from Far North Queensland. She studied filmmaking and worked in the Australian film industry, before becoming an author.
She writes mildly spicy books with sweet couples, a dash of drama and behind a Hollywood backdrop.
Her favourite tropes are friends to lovers, best friend's brother and second chance.
When not writing she can be found going for a relaxing walk while listening to some spice.
This was one of those books that instantly endeared me to every character and I was left wanting to know more about every couple/maybe soon to be couple in the book.
I was invested. I wanted to know more about Romain Garrel (who only appeared a few times) and Ben (who was around often) and everyone in between.
This was a story about an author and an actor/director/producer. Peter, the actor, approaches Saoirse, an author of a popular fantasy series about turning her books into a tv series and things progress from there.
Peter and Saoirse were wonderful main characters. They were both sweet people and I was easily able to root for them as individuals and as a couple. They both had their depth, and so did most (if not all) of the side characters. I appreciated that so much.
I only have a few nitpicky complaints.
The first- there were a few tense/spelling issues and then timing felt off in certain places. And the passage of time was a little bit up in the air at times.
And my second, and last, piece of criticism was that the toxic ex/ literary agent Jillian piece of the plot fell off at the end. There was a little bit of build up that was hinting at something larger about to go down and then that plot line fell off and disappeared.
Otherwise, I devoured this book. I loved that Peter was a reader, I loved that both the characters were Irish and that we got some deaf representation in this book. I loved the pacing of the romance and how natural it all felt.
I can’t wait to see where this series goes from here.
Thank you to the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review, I was so excited when I saw I got it in my email!
This was a good second novel! The chemistry between Peter and Saoirse was written well and it was clear they both had feelings, but had a lot of things holding them back. And there was a lot of good representation throughout the book which I loved. And much like the first book it showed how toxic the film, and publishing industry is and can be. It was pretty fast paced and moved along well. There was a lot of conflicting feelings between Peter and Saoirse! I thought it all played out pretty well!
Thanks to Jordan Kate Buck for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Peter and Saoirse had great chemistry from the beginning and they both were being apprehensive to take things further because they were afraid of the consequences. This was a slow burn but with so many amazing supporting characters. They both had a great support system, and I really enjoyed getting to know them. I liked how they spoke about deafness and how different people would deal with it. I think the plot with her ex -boyfriend and her ex-agent could have been explained more.
This is my very first read by the author. I definitely need to circle back and read book one in the series. I really enjoyed the authors writing style and the storyline kept this read invested from the beginning to the very end of the book. Peter and Saoirse are two characters that will definitely stick with me for awhile. I enjoyed this one.
This was such a sweet read! I couldn’t help becoming attached to each and every character! I wish we could have spent more time with the couple to see their relationship develop! I can’t wait to read more of this series!
A nice slow burn where friendship develops first. Love Irish stories/characters, and books about books/authors. Would love to know more about their relationship and hope to see them in future stories. Think this was my first book with deaf/hard of hearing representation and would love to see more it.
