Lucifer, Prince of Darkness, lord of absolutely everything in the Underworld, woke from a coma with the nagging idea that Gabriel had somehow betrayed him. The annoying thing was, he didn't know how or why. The one thing he was certain of was that he couldn't have Gabriel around if he couldn't trust him... or could he?
Archangel Gabriel is shattered. After suffering while Lucifer had been in his coma, he'd thought things would all return to normal once the Prince of Darkness woke up. To be confronted with the one being who'd been in his life since the beginning of time and being told to leave shook Gabriel to the core and made him question everything he'd ever known or been told. He understood - he knew how soul destroying being betrayed could be. But without Lucifer in his life, what did he have left to exist for.
Betrayals, interventions from angels and demons alike, repressed memories and the mists of time all push Lucifer and Gabriel to find the answers, but how will they deal with the fallout once the truth is revealed? After so much work by the five previous couples, will the Master's plan fall at the last hurdle.
After watching Lucifer and Gabriel dance around each other for the previous five books, Love Before Time is their story and the sixth and final book in the Balance series. It is not a standalone. This is an MM romance story intended for adults only. Please store your titles responsibly.
Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. Lisa loves to hear from her readers and other writers. You can friend her on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/lisaoliverauthor), or email her directly at yoursintuitively@gmail.com. This series is different form Ms Oliver’s other books, so this one was a good ending as we went back to beginning of it all and saw how it all started.
I really liked the insight into both Lucifer and Gabriel’s thoughts. Lucifer’s thoughts showed a greater vulnerability than he shows to the outside world and Gabriel’s showed his questions and discomfort at believing he had betrayed Lucifer. It was heartbreaking reading that scene and watching Gabriel try to change the outcome.
Whilst I felt the whole series wasn’t as strong as this authors other books I still enjoyed the balance books and was glad she finished the series with Gabriel and Lucifer.
As with most of this authors pining stories one mc was loyal and abstained from sex and the other mc f%#%##d his way through most of the population while claiming to love the other mc. 🙄 This book just reminded me how much I hate pining stories.
This series isn't the author's usual style but it's an enjoyable end to this series. Lucifer provided a lot of light relief throughout the series but his vulnerability was very apparent in this book.
I've been longing for this book almost from book 1 and this did NOT disappoint! I'm having trouble finding the words to really describe this. Sweet? Salty? Sexy? All of the above definitely and so much more. This book had it all: love, betrayal, forgiveness.... Maybe forgiveness more than anything. Getting a glimpse into Lucifer is head after all this time was surprising and really makes you think. Gabriel and what he did makes you see him in a new way too. Balance, the series title and what all this seems to be about is so front and center in this book.
This series is a little different than standard Lisa Oliver but I absolutely loved that. This book still everything you know and love about Lisa's work all the angst, all the drama, and all the love leave you feeling satisfied but yearning for more at the same time. Amazing book. AMAZING series. Loved this so much I can't even describe.
3.8 stars - this was the final book in the series and the one the other books were leading to. Despite the poor editing, I read it in one sitting because I wanted to see Gabriel and Lucifer finally getting their HEA.
Have I read better books? Certainly! The steam was not really steamy in the sense that it felt detached, merely descriptive, and rushed (the author's heart was not in it, that's for sure). There were some gaps, lengths, and unnecessary boring details - as well as some loose ends and inconsistencies. BUT: the concept of the series plus the new take on angels and demons was fresh and some of the characters were a lot of fun.
I loved the series. Each book was heartwarming, hilarious and heart wenching. I was sorry to read the last book as I wanted to learn how Lucifer and Gabriel completed their second part of God's decree. Maybe a spin off series??? Well off to read another book until Mrs. Oliver gives us another book or go back and catch another of her series that I have yet to try😁.
This is the first book that I have read in this series. I was able to enjoy it without first having read the preceding books. I will also say that this is not my normal style of book that I gravitate towards. I opened it up to see if it had downloaded properly. Next thing you know, I am engrossed in the book and read it from cover to cover. I really enjoyed it. It is well written and easy to read. The story just flows along taking you with it. I loved it.
tbh i'm dissapointed. I was waiting for these two. I read the previous books to get to this, expecting something better but no. Nothing exciting happened. You'd expect fireworks and intensity between two ''people'' longing for each other for over two millenia and we got nothing. It had promise but it fell flat. I honestly couldn't remember the previous couples and i read their books a week ago.
I gotta say I love Lucifer ...I loved the series and have seen the end of it coming as in all her books I am not fond of endings .. But then there is a new beginning of books so a plus..I am glad that that there was a HEA...I can't wait for the next book to start .....
Lisa's approach to this series was a bit different but I found I like it in that, given my strange mind set, it led me to a great deal of theological and philosophical reflections on good and evil. The relationship of the two and ultimately the existence of God and the Devil. Keep it up Lisa
I absolutely loved this book ! I have been waiting for these two to get together and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. I am sad this will be the last in this series the ending was great and absolutely know I'll love whatever is written next. I highly recommend this book and series to anyone. Great characters and stories. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lowkey didn't expect them to go back in time, but it makes sense. The only thing that felt weird was that they felt like they were in their own bubble throughout the whole book, expect for the first few chapters and epilogue. They're my favorite couple though, so I'll let it slide, Lol.
Maybe not her usual style but wow I have loved this series. It is great that although questions were answered it also left you thinking ‘ah but.’ From first book it was obvious these two were meant to be , but left you wondering how. Whoever thought the demon of the partnership would have to be the most forgiving. Balance was found .
This is a great conclusion to the Balance series that answers some questions and brings together a couple that’s been obvious since the very beginning. I very much enjoyed this series and I’m happy Gabriel and Lucifer finally got to be together
What an ending! Yep, loved this series, especially Lucifer and Gabriel and the slow build up over all the previous books. I loved the world building here, very imaginative and such an interesting take on a well known legend.
This may be a very different series from what she usually writes……
and I know there are a few people that didn’t like it but I enjoyed every bit! It has gone into my shelf as a favorite, to be read when I’m down & purchase more from this author!
I abslutely loved this book and this series. Different and unique but so much fun and so good! Beautiful stories all of them! I enjoyed Lucifer and Gabe! It was a very good ending to the series, even though more would be fun ;)
An excellent end to an awesome series. I really enjoyed this story. Thank You Ms. Oliver for yet again giving me something that I really got caught up in and I am looking forward to more stories from you.
We finally get Lucifer and Gabriels story and history. The connection and attraction has been obvious in previous books and now we get to see if they are fated to be together or if it's just a mirage.
Thank you Lisa for a perfect end to another great series. Each book tells a wonderful tale and they are all wrapped up with Angel wings with this final tale. I'm always looking forward to the next book. Thank you.
The perfect end to the beginning of it all Lucifer and Gabriel show why understanding a past and moving forward can help. All staying true you self and those you love. Bravo and well written.
I have read all 6 books in this book series and I absolutely loved them. Lisa Oliver is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors. The gods of Chaos series is great too. Going to read Arrowtown next.
Loved it hate it was the last of this series would have more angels and demons mating and to see what the second phase would be ah well love Lisa Oliver anyway
I loved this book and it was a fitting end to this series. Gabe and Luc were meant for each other for all time. They really did balance each other out.
What a magnificent story. It must have given the author fits writing it for the amount of detail. You are held from beginning to end. Tres magnifique Lisa
What a wonderful series Lisa. Now I’m glad to know why they weren’t together at least until the end. Remember if you write them, I will always buy them.
