The Wrong Boy

Rate this book
Having a bed and breakfast with just one communal bathroom wasn’t working, and it was past time to bite the bullet and upgrade the inn.

There was just one small problem: In the small town of Deacon, Texas, there was only one contractor.

Yep, just one: Jonathan Oaks.

But it didn’t matter how skilled he was at building things when all I knew about him was how good at breaking my heart he was.

Five years could put a lot into perspective, but it wasn’t enough time to make me forget that he was the wrong boy for me then and he’d be the wrong boy for the job now.

I should have known better.

Jonathan Oaks wasn’t about to lose the chance to renovate my inn, or to rub in my face that he’d been right about us all along.

This small town, second chance story was just what I needed. It held my attention from start to finish and I was completely in both Oaks and Tilly's corner. Wasn't super spicy, but man did it get ya in the feels.

Tilly runs an inn that has been the family business for years. It's a bit run down and needs renovations. Even with having 5 other sisters she was the lucky one to take over. She's always loved the inn, but she has loved someone for longer.
Oaks is the naughty boy next door. Runs a local construction company and tries to do anything he can to forget the person tied to his past that he still longs for.

Even though they live in the same town their paths rarely intersect. They made sure of that, as well did the people living in the town. After numerous run ins that caused drama, they were banned to be in establishments together. Well, that's about to change because Oaks will stop at nothing to get the bid to help bring the inn back to life. He just might bring something else back to life as well, if he has any say!

Enter in 5 long years of miscommunication, hurts, half truths, lust and jealousy. Repairing what has been broken for so long could very well be the end or is it? Things are about to get messy, tempers will be tested, heartstrings will be pulled and you'll love ever second of it!

I really enjoyed this one - the storyline and the characters!

Awww... I love Tillie and Oaks! I could have read about them for so much longer! This novella captured my attention right from the beginning. They Had their second chance and weren't about to let it go, even if they did have a lapse in judgement. But I thought it was cute. Novellas are usually tough for me to review because there usually isn't enough to get me attached to the characters to have any real feelings. This one was better than most! I found some of the side characters pretty amusing too... I wouldn't mind reading about them!

This book was exactly what I needed to read and I didn't even know it. Oh, it hit me in all the feels! The love that Oaks had for Tilly was utter perfection. A second chance to make everything even better than it was the first time. To see it through to the happily ever after that was waiting for them if they could just get past the obstacles they kept throwing up in front of themselves.

Tilly took over running the family's inn at a young age so her sisters wouldn't have to. It's time to renovate and expand the inn but to do that she needs a contractor. The only contractor that could possibly do the job and that lives in town is her ex, Jonathan Oaks. They parted ways because they couldn't agree on the inn and where they were going in life. Tilly wanted so much more but she wasn't sure if Oaks was ready. To save herself the heartbreak, she ends things between them. Now she has no choice but to work with him to save her family's legacy. She still loves him and she knows her heart is only going to get more broken being around him while the inn is upgraded.

Oaks has never stopped loving Tilly. She has always been the girl who held his heart, no matter how much he tried to move on. Seeing her around town was always a reminder of the one who held his broken heart in her hands. When he learns she needs work done on the inn, he inserts himself into her life once more, demanding he be the one to build her dreams back up. He wants the chance to show her that he still loves her and hopes that she can repair the ache in his chest.

With a second chance at love, can they move past all the hurt and misunderstandings that broke them before? You'll have to read this for yourself and see whether or not Oaks can prove to Tilly that some loves never end but keep living on despite cracks in the veneer. He may have been the wrong boy before but is he the right man now?

A quick, second chance read with steam and angst.

Tilly Banks needs repairs on her Inn, it's in a state of disrepair and to keep guests booking, she needs to fix and update her lodgings. However, in the small town of Deacon, there is only one contractor and she refuses to use him. That is until he gets wind of her intentions and none other than her ex-boyfriend shows up on her doorstep telling her he will be the one to do the renovations and she needs to let their past go. That's hard to do when they have been actively avoiding one another for the past five years, but suddenly she can't seem to avoid him and when Oaks becomes her only option to update her family B&B she might have to concede.

Jonathan Oaks is still bruised from when Tilly dumped him five years ago, but he's moved on, basically. He never really sees Tilly around, so that made it easier, but when he hears that she's trying to update the Inn and seeking contractors outside of town for bids, she's finally pushed their truce too far. This time Oaks won't take no for an answer and he's not walking away. Oaks wants answers from what happened five years ago, but he also wants to help. There is a lot of intense feelings between these two that will only get resolved if they stop avoiding each other.

Tilly and Oaks have a messy past, with a lot of hurt and unresolved anger, but if they can just push aside all of their pride, look past all of their mistakes, and get to the underbelly of where their true emotions lie, these two are pretty fantastic together.

"For a long time, I had convinced myself that Oaks was the wrong boy for me, for my heart, for good common sense. Turned out it was just the wrong timing, not the boy. The boy is exactly who I want to spend the rest of this crazy life with."

Tilly and Oaks have been separated for five years. After overhearing a conversation Oaks and her father had, Tilly realized her future with Oaks wasn't what she had hoped. Now she needs a contractor to help fix the Inn she inherited and Oaks is the only one who can help her. Will they be able to remain civil to get the project done?

This short, sweet read was beautiful. Oaks and his little heart broken self made me feel so much. He is such a beautiful character. Tilly is a strong woman who is just overwhelmed with life. I loved that she was able to take a step back and realize there is more to life than just responsibility.

I really wanted more of Oaks and Tilly. The epilogue was perfection! And even though this book is sweet down to its core, the spice level is pretty decent! There are plenty of spicy scenes to go around. I can't wait to read more about the people in Deacon!

“The Wrong Boy” is a short story but isn’t lacking in spice, second chances, some angst, and humor set in a small town.

Tilly has been running the Inn her grandma left to her when she had passed away. But when the Inn is in need of some renovations, she has to turn to the guy that broke her heart. Jonathan Oaks broke her heart five years ago but the time apart has let each of them grow and it might be the right time for them to try again.

Tilly grew so much as a person in the story. The last five years of her life and the reappearance of Oaks had a huge impact on her. She lost herself for a little bit but was able to find who she was meant to be. Oaks is swoon worthy and I love that he had a blue collar job. The banter and tension between the two had me turning pages to get to the moment when they finally gave in and realized they were meant to be together. Tilly’s sisters and Oaks’ crew were a riot and I hope we get some books with them in it.

Gosh, I love a good second chance! That little dash of animosity at the beginning, the unraveling of miscommunication and things gone wrong in the past, ugh, it just hits me right every time!
This was a quick read(I just squeezed it in between life over a few days) but it flew by!
I loved Oaks, but the star for me was Tilly’s family!
This was small town done right, but Munoz never misses for me either.

It had been a little while since I picked up a book that totally consumed me from the first page, but The Wrong Boy by Ashly Munoz broke that spell.

From the very beginning, I fell for Oaks, the handsome contractor that broke Tilly's heart five years ago. Or was it Tilly that broke Oaks? These two had a serious lack of communication, and their lies and omissions have caused a rift in the small town of Deacon. Everyone in the town knows not to put these two in the same room at the same time, but now that Tilly needs Oak's help to remodel her family's bed and breakfast, they will have to finally put the past behind them.

I loved the chemistry and the banter between these two, and although their story has a fair amount of angst, it also has a nice bit of comic relief too. I definitely found myself getting frustrated with both of them (especially Tilly) over their seriously lacking communication skills, but I couldn't help but cheer them on until the very end. The secondary characters (both family and friends) added to both the drama and comedy in this book, and I would really like to see a story (or two) featuring a few of them.

This story had plenty of steam and enough angst to keep me thinking about it when I was at work, making dinner, and taking a walk. I seriously just wanted to get back to this story, and it held my attention until the very last page (talk about making me sweat it out until the end!) This is the first book that I've read by this author, and it definitely won't be the last.

"This was a relatively quick read but it sure didn’t skimp on packing a whole heap of punches. Second chance at love stories are one of my favorite tropes to read. And this one was done extremely well.
Without giving too much of the storyline away, Tilly & Oaks were together five years ago. They have managed to avoid each other quite successfully all this time but Oaks being the only contractor in their town and Tilly desperately needing renovations done they now find themselves back in each other’s lives. This is where the book took off for me. I needed this pair to make it back to each other and both of them were extremely frustrating at times. But even though so many years had passed it was easy to see these two still have strong feelings for each other. They just needed to give a relationship together another shot. This ended up being an absolutely wonderful book and I will definitely keep my eye out for future books from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book."

Tilly is running the Inn her grandmother left her, but it's imperative that she gets it fixed up going forward. However, in the small town she lives in, she only has one man to hire, Oaks, the boy who broke her heart despite the fact that she ended things. Oaks wants Tilly back, but the actions he took before this second chance didn't endear me to him, but I'm not saying Tilly was in the right either. Both of them couldn't communicate like adults to save their lives since the past five years could have been different had they done so, and I found myself wanting to shake them both hard throughout the book. However, the supporting cast was what made this book entertaining for me as they were hilarious especially how they kept these two separated when both were acting like fools. I'm a big fan of Ashley Munoz & she will always be a one-click for me, so please take my review as MY opinion since I have my own set of "me things" when it comes to the books I read! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This little small town romance had my curiosity.

Right from the beginning I found myself wondering what went down between Tilly and Oaks. It had been 5 years, but the heartache was still strong for both of them.

I loved getting to see them bicker, and trying to resist the pull that they clearly had toward each other. The road back to forever wasn't a simple one. It was filled with pain, longing, anger, frustration, and love. It was so worth it to see these two find that happily ever after.

I do find myself curious about the inn. What is the history there? What happened in the space we don't talk about? I don't have closure on that, and my mind is whirling. (Plus what happened to Grandma and Mom?)

Even without the closure on that storyline, I fully enjoyed the book and seeing Oaks and Tilly get their second chance together.

I've seriously missed Ashley Munoz's writings and I wished this is a longer book. I loved Tilly and Oaks' story. Something happened to them that resulted in their breakup all those years ago and now they're kind of avoiding each other. I can feel the longing in Oaks and that he still loves her. also because he still doesn't know the real reason they broke up. And now he's renovating her B&B and there's no way they can avoid one another. Like I said, you can still feel the tension between them and they clearly still have feelings for each other. And all those things that Oaks did while they were apart. My heart ache for these two reading those moments. But I loved their journey back together and I loved their story.

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I am rating this book 4.5 stars. This my very first read by Ashley, I loved the vibe of this book. There was some angst, lotayof heartbreak, banter and playfulness. It was great start to read more from this author and see what I've bee missing out on. Oaks wow he's s great guy, but let's face it they are worst when it comes to break ups. Ita like there trained on one thing toy move on and we all know what that is lol. For us woman it's completely different unless youy weren't really invested with relationship. I feel like we hurt more depending on the reason for the break up. Tily is a sweet girl, but also made some bad choices jut like oaks.

Tilly and Oaks had once been everything to each other now 5 years later they don’t even speak. They live in a quaint little town and she runs a inn, and wants to expanding that inn. Unfortunately Oaks is the only contractor in their town. Can these two get along long enough to get the job done? Can a old spark get Reignited? I thought this was a really cute sweet read. I loved friend and family dynamics. I fell In love with Oaks personality instantly. I however found Tilly extremely immature and annoying. No matter how much I tried I just Couldn’t like her. Besides Tilly I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next.

Wow. I devoured The Wrong Boy. Tilly and Oaks have a past that keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting to know just exactly what went down between these two. Years later Tilly needs renovations to the bed and breakfast and Oaks wants the job. Tilly tries her hardest to avoid him at all cost, but the chemistry these two have even after all the time apart burns like a wild fire. Oaks and Tilly take you on an intense journey of second chances with all the heat, humor, and drama you can imagine from small town life. Then add in truths that were buried coming to light, will these two have a second chance or will Oaks always be the wrong boy?

Who doesn’t love a small town second chance love story….? This has everything you could want. Lots of angst, misunderstandings and sizzling chemistry, I hope you love Oaks and Tilly as much as I did….
If only they could get out of their own way they might just manage a shot at their second chance and actually make it to forever this time!!!

Even though this is a quick read, Ms Munoz still manages to bring us two wonderful characters with history and an obvious love for each other. The story isn’t padded out with lots of unnecessary inner ramblings, it’s short and sweet and packed with heat!
I just wanted to spend more time with them!

Tilly runs an inn in a small town that needs renovations and the only affordable contractor to do the work is her ex, Oaks. She broke up with him 5 years prior when she assumed that Oaks wasn’t interested in a long term relationship and they’ve been hiding from each other ever since. Until now.

This sure hit the spot! There’s a lot of story, spice, miscommunication, romance and characters all packed into this novella. Such a fun, feel good story! Oaks is my kind of sweet/dirty talking man!

This is from the All American Boy series featuring different authors. I’ll be reading more from this collection for sure!

I have only one word. Oaks.

Honestly, Oaks is in my top three favorite heroes of Ashley's. I couldn't help swooning over him and it seemed I only fell for him more every time I flipped the page. Tilly and Oaks past is one that I wasn't expecting, and I loved the heat they felt for one another. Even after all the years they were separated.

This second chance romance was both full of heart and intense, swoony heat. I absolutely loved it!!!

This is my first book by Ashley Munoz and I enjoyed it! A small town, second chance romance that finds their HEA!

Tilly and Oaks gave me all the feels! After breaking up 5 years ago, both Tilly and Oaks get back together. And in my opinion it's even better! After getting through the obstacles that kept them from moving forward in their relationship, they finally communicated. There's plenty of steam and angst. A quick read I enjoyed.

I LOVED this story about Tilly & Oaks! Some moments were funny, some moments were sad, and some so very happy! I could feel Tilly's pain not wanting to ask her ex for help, even though he was the only option in town. I hope to see more about the other characters in this book! Ashley nails it with another great book!

Although this was on the short side of the usual books I read, it still had everything that I enjoy. It had drama, second chance at love, and enough depth to keep me interested. The characters are well developed, even given the short story. I enjoyed Oaks and Tilly's story to their HEA. I was sent a complimentary copy and I am choosing to leave my honest review.

A small town second chance romance with the wrong time of true love.

Oaks...Sweet sexy Oaks. I was and will not be convinced he did wrong. I loved Oaks. Yes Sir!

Tilly surrounded by grief in the wrong time but not the wrong boy. Took on her grandmothers Inn but it came at a price.

I loved this book. I was hooked from the beginning.
It is definitely a sweet small town romance not to be missed.
