If you're looking for a sweet, swooning heroine who loves first kisses, soul mates, and letting her hair blow romantically in the breeze...
This ain't her.
When the blunt, abrasive, sassy-as-hell-take-no-crap workaholic Aspen Haws is "promoted" against her will, she goes from constantly travelling to a small town in northern Ontario with a dating pool of approximately twelve eligible men.
Luckily, Aspen has no time for love and no desire for commitment. Unluckily, she does have time for no-strings-attached hit-em-and-quit-em hookups... and there's not a lot of that going around Wakeham.
If you're looking for a cocky, confident, bad boy rock star who leaves a trail of broken hearts behind after every show and has a lover in every city...
This ain't him.
Theo Barker's fairytale came true. No one was more surprised than he was when the outcast loser turned world-famous rock star went from being bullied on the playground in Wakeham to the biggest stages in the world. But after his (now ex) girlfriend admits she's only with him for his money, the jaded rock star with a romantic streak decides it's time to go back home and take a break.
Both of these big personalities are immediately intrigued by each other when they collide in the small town of Wakeham: Theo by Aspen's self-assured sensuality and Aspen by Theo's charming smile and genuine kindness. But can these two very, VERY different people overcome the inevitable drama of having two very, very different lifestyles?
This small town romance is intended for mature readers and includes strong friendships, rock stars, bad-ass women, boundaries, consent, healthy relationships, and a lot of spicy scenes and happy endings!
Cheryl Terra writes romantic and adult fiction with drama, sass, and a whole lot of... spice. Emotional and humorous, her books focus on contemporary relationships, inclusive characters, and happily ever afters. A great read from one of my new favorite writers. I've read nearly everything Cheryl has written, and I always appreciate that the plot doesn't take a backseat to the steamier parts of her books; this one was no exception. I connected with the characters, loved the humor, and got lost in the story for a few hours at a time. If you're a fan of this genre, or of Cheryl, you can't go wrong.
I loved the dynamic between these two! She’s a girl after my own heart. I really enjoyed reading such a lovely story, it was funny, well written and believable. This is a refreshing, feel good read with the right amount of angst and steam. I look forward to what comes next!
This is such an amazing read!!!!!!! The dynamic between Theo and Aspen is life. When he gets put in his place on the back porch? Gold. This was such a good read and was the best way to spend an afternoon!!!! There is nothing i loved more than this book. It was funny, charming, steamy and a great thrilling ride. The characters were well thought out. The world- amazing. You laugh, cry and get all the good feels. I love this book and i love cheryl.
On one hand we have Aspen, a badass woman working as a pre-auditor, bold, says it straight kinda type, and then we have Theo, a successful rockstar, who despite his career that one would assume a different kind of personality, is very sweet and kinda insecure because of his childhood.
It's like a switch in personalities and I really love when the hero is sweet. When I usually read books with POVs, the hero is normally the one with Aspen's personality and vice versa She's levelheaded, he's more emotional, it's cute.
About 70% of this book I binge-read it because it was that good, but then it started to drag a bit, which honestly made me sigh in frustration.
The friends in this books are probably the most meddlesome ones I've encountered. If they know one of the characters is upset they're really relentless in finding out why and basically fixing it. That's both sweet and annoying. That's not to say I didn't like this book, because I did.
There are some cute moments so I recommend you read the book📚, it's worth it!
Cheryl Terra is my very favorite author because she always combines a great story with well developed characters who have lots of chemistry, and let’s be honest, incredible sex scenes. Respect and consent are always present in her stories, and Get Over It, is no exception. I also really enjoy following characters through different stories and Cheryl Terra does this so very well. Read this (and all of her other books) as soon as you can. Trust me, they’re so good you’ll reread them again and again!
Get Over It, book 1 of the Love Across Canada series, by Cheryl Terra @cherylterrabooks. Cheryl is a new author for me.
Wow! What a an amazingly fantastic book about Aspen & Theo! Tropes: Contemporary, Rockstar, Female/Male, FMC taking control of her life, Friends to Lovers, 3rd Act Break Up, Growth With Oneself & HEA!
When Theo and Aspen mets they are two different people who find past experiences caused so much pain. Meeting at a dinner of mutual friend they fall for each other during many challenges along the way.
There were parts I loved of this book but overall it was a bit of a miss for me.
I loved the tension building between the main characters- the texting scenes and just the unluckiness they had when trying to meet up was so real.
I do feel like if the book was longer the story could have been expanded on, we jumped from strangers to friends to FWB to in love extremely fast to the point it wasn’t quite realistic.
I may give one of the other books in this series a try still though!

I first read this as a short story and, despite not being a re-reader of things, read the expanded novel. So, so glad I did! Cheryl has this amazing way of developing characters and writes characters who might grate at times (cough, Aspen!) but goes out of her way to explain and show why she is as she is. Theo is the ultimate book boyfriend—swoooooooon!
