"I realize now that your heart held the key to opening mine."
Some books make you feel a whole range of emotions, and this one did exactly that. From empathy to flat-out anger and wanting to punch people's faces, to an immense feeling of compassion, found family, and love.

It's hard to find the words to talk about this book because it really touched my soul.

"He was as beautiful and powerful as a summer storm."
Cowboy is one of those heroes you want for yourself and you fiercely wish was real because he is the whole package. Protective without being overbearing, supportive about everything you do, caring and loving, and open. Someone who is there for you, no matter what.

"Damn, she blew that mountainous view away. He’d never seen anything so genuine or so beautiful."
Sully's story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Her strength had me in awe. And yes, I know she's fictional too, but I wanted to hug her and call her my friend. I feel like we could learn a lot from each other. And maybe she could teach me how to live.

“Did you tell her about horses responding better to admiration than pity?”
“No.” But she’s a survivor, too. She knows."

If you read Jordan's (Sully's sister) book or the prequel novella, you'll know Sully was taken from her family and into a cult. She didn't have a life or anything to call her own, only a friend and his mom who looked out for her.
When she escapes, she only knows she wants to be free, but she finds so much more than that.

“Never again,” and kissed the top of her head. “Never fucking again.”
When Cowboy's parents get called to take her to Redemption Ranch, she's a scared girl, but one who knows what she wants. She won't be controlled again or feel like she owes anyone again.
And Cowboy? The way he kneels next to her and tells her she will never have to go through anything close to what she did… I had tears in my eyes.

"You don’t have to catch up with anyone. You just have to be happy with who you are."
Everything is new at the ranch. Not only that she's free to walk around, but the affection everyone gives away without expecting anything back. Like she's worthy of it. And her feelings, good or bad, are valid and heard.

“Don’t be so careful,” she pleaded. “I want to feel what you feel for me.”
Callahan shows her around the ranch, trying to make her comfortable. But he also shows her there are people out there that won't take advantage of you and will love you exactly as you are, for who you are. Who are willing and able to stand with you through whatever you need to go through along the way.
In the meantime, he catches feelings for her. Or maybe, just maybe, they've been there for a while already.

“Someone could get rich bottling you up.”
“There’s only one problem with that idea. Yours are the only lips I want on mine.”

Sully can't be far from him, she needs him at a soul level. Their story runs alongside Sully's self-discovery. By herself, but also with him, she discovers what she wants and what she likes, she explores, she asks questions, and she knows she's wanted.
Is there anything better than that?

“Did Cowboy plant a wire on you, or what?” No. He just knows when I need him."
And trust, that thing that is hard-won but easily lost, comes back to her. Trust in others and in the love in their hearts, but mostly trust in herself.
Because when it comes to self-preservation, there's fight or flight, and she always chose to fight. She faces everything head on.
She always will.

“You could be a million miles away, darlin’, and my heart will still belong to you.”
Their night walks and their simplest chats warmed my heart. My soul, even. Her work with horses that were bent but not broken, just like her. His sisters coming over, along with others on the ranch, because they love her, creating a sisterhood she's never had.
Creating a life she never knew or dreamed she would be living.

"I may not know if I’m Casey or Sully, but in my heart, I will always be your darlin’."
Everyone around them can see what's going on, but as Sully heals, she has a decision to make. She has family outside Redemption Ranch, and they want her. They miss her.
But what she found with Cowboy can't be found anywhere else.

I'm just going to say her drawings gutted me but also made me smile. I can't say enough about them. I wish you could see my thoughts.

"You’re my home, Callahan. You."
This is a story about a heroine who can save herself and the love that helps her do it, in the shape of a man who will always be there to catch her if she falls.
And wild horses couldn't drag Cowboy away from his darlin'.

Once again, Melissa Foster has blown me away with one of her books, well, two really, because FREEING SULLY, in my opinion, should be read before this one. In FREEING SULLY, we learn how Sully escaped from the cult she was in for the past twenty years and how she came to Redemption Ranch, and it's a read you don't want to miss.

Sullivan "Sully" Tate is brought to Redemption Ranch to hide from the cult looking for her and heal from all the abuse she has suffered. The stories she told from her time there were heartbreaking; no one should go through what she had, especially a child.

Callahan "Cowboy" Whiskey is so swoon-worthy. The things this man does for Sully are *big sigh* amazing. Cowboy is a protector at heart. It's just how he is, and when he meets Sully for the first time there isn't anything he wouldn't do to ensure she is safe.

This is one of those rare times when I need more stars!

Sully is one of those characters that Melissa Foster does perfectly and makes you want to walk onto the pages of the book and wrap into a hug. This woman has survived, and not only has she survived, she has come out with compassion and heart.

Now Callahan “Cowboy” Whiskey is just the perfect person to help her through her healing and recovery. He’s strong, in character and actual strength, he’s capable and confident. And he’s been looking for Sully for a while.

Reading this story was an emotional roller coaster, seeing and feeling Sully’s journey, what she went through, she truly deserves a chance at happiness, one you only hope she finds in the Colorado mountains.

4.5⭐️

Uggg this BOOK ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 It pulled on my heartstrings, it gave out feelings of hope and I just loved reading the characters journey.

Callahan “Cowboy” Whiskey is a natural-born protector, a Dark Knights biker, and a hell of a rancher. What happens when he falls for a woman who has no idea who she really is?
When Sullivan Tate escaped from a cult, leaving behind the only life she’d ever known, she thought she’d already endured the most difficult things she’d ever have to deal with. She knew she needed to figure out who she was, but she hadn’t expected to fall for overprotective and sexy-as-hell Callahan along the way. How can she give her heart to a man who has always known exactly who he is, when she’s only just begun figuring that out about herself?

So one thing I LOVE about Melissa Foster is there’s no third act break up scene. But trust me there’s still drama. And when she was pulling on my heartstrings with my heart in my mouth at 90% I was NERVOUS. But it was so worth it!

I LOVED Callahan and Sully. He was so protective of her but not in an overbearing way. Every time she needed him, he was right there.
And then seeing his walls come down too was so special. Even if he did have a “dumbo” moment. Luckily some love letters knocked the sense back into his (thanks goodness!).

I’m sad I have to wait til next year for the next book as I love this family and can’t wait to read the rest of their stories.

For The Love Of Whiskey is book two of The Whiskeys: Dark Knights At Redemption Ranch.

Sully has recently escaped from a cult and was picked up by a kindly truck driver. He contacted the Dark Knights and they arranged to protect her and take her to Redemption Ranch. A place that offers therapy for lost souls and injured horses.

'Cowboy' Callaghan Whiskey is given the job of protecting Sully. He takes his role very seriously and will do anything to help Sully accept her freedom and come to terms with who she might really be.

If you love cowboys, motorbikes, horses, a modern western setting and romance, then this book might just be for you.

Another great Redemption Ranch story this time following Sully and Cowboy/Callahan. Sully has lived a hard life, has went through so much trauma and just needed life to go in her favor! Everything that had happened to her was huge and she really needed to work on getting through it all mentally. Cowboy was so understanding, protective, adoring and made sure he was there with her every step of the way. He was made for Sully and they were a perfect match!! I loved how the whole family took Sully in like she was one of their own and belonged there with them. It was so heartwarming!! A fantastic read!!

All the Feels

Sully’s story hit me in a place where words are hard to find—her strength and tenacity to escape her situation. Her appreciation for her new freedom and Redemption Ranch. How she makes Callahan/Cowboy a different man, a better man, just by being around him. His protective spirit and defender of what he feels is right make him the perfect guardian, friend, and then more, to Sully. I read this book much too fast and did not want it to end.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

As always this author has a way of taking you right into the heart of the story, I felt like I was on Redemption Ranch whilst reading For The Love of Whiskey, so much so that I was shocked when I woke up here in the UK to find no Dwight in my kitchen 😂😂 sad times! Lol⁣

For The Love of Whiskey is book 3 of The Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch and is out on April 19th, the story begins with the Dark Knights being called for help & protection when Sullivan “Sully” Tate is found. There is a prequel short story which is out now called Freeing Sully which covers her escape from the Free Rebellion compound. ⁣
For The Love of Whiskey can be read as a stand-alone as quite a bit of Sully’s past is covered in heartbreaking detail, but Freeing Sully is worth a read as it packs quite a punch.⁣

Callahan “Cowboy” Whiskey is the protector of the family, so when he’s given the task of watching over Sully as she settles into life away from the cult, he takes the job seriously. ⁣
Right from their first meeting I felt a connection between these 2 characters, with the love and support from The Whiskey friends & family Sully slowly begins to find herself, watching Sully develop and bloom was beautiful to see, this wasn’t an easy read, Sully’s past is painful and upsetting to read so understandably this is a slow burn romance (we all understand that in real life this story could have taken much longer) ⁣

We have some funny moments, sweet sensual scenes, deep emotional truths and everything we’ve come to love from reading a Melissa Foster book. ⁣

Cowboy and Sully’s journey warmed my heart, after reading this book and the previous book (Dare & Billie) I still come away from reading their stories thinking…⁣

I NEED more Tiny & Wynnie ❤️😂 I love them! Tiny nearly going “downtown” cracked me up 😂😂⁣

Highly recommend this book and any other book by this author 👏🏼

This may be the worst book I’ve ever read. The writing feels AI generated. The characters lack depth and relatability. Why are so many words randomly italicized? This book should contain a trigger warning and the author should write about people recovering from trauma in a more realistic way. So much of the scenes are cringey and uncomfortable. It’s so patriarchal despite lines specifically stating otherwise. The main character has such a god complex and the love story is just plain gross. If I wouldn’t have had to read this for book club I may have burned it after the first few chapters.

You could be a million miles away darlin’ and my heart will still belong to you

Introduction

For the Love of Whiskey is the second full installment in the Redemption Ranch series and this was such a long awaited read for me and was also such a anticipated release of the year for me. I have to say that this book was somehow better than the first book and I have no clue how Melissa foster does this for me, how she is able to craft such magnificence in a romance and just delivers on all counts for me! In this story though, we have Sully and Cowboy’s story and Foster really hit this one out of the park. Its been 24 hours and I am still feelings so much emotion from what was delivered in this one. There is something about this series so far that has just raised the bar for this author. This series is connected to her Peaceful Harbor Dark Knights series. So if you have read that series, you will definitely get a kick out of what you see in this series because we see some of our favorite characters. For the Love of Whiskey is a story of healing and finding love when you least expect it…

.
I realize now that your heart held the key to opening mine

Summary
Sullivan “Sully” Tate, was raised in a cult where she was abused by men but especially the cult leader and she found a way to escape and is now in hiding. And then she finds a home and safe harbor with the Whiskeys at the Redemption Ranch, where they rescue lost souls and animals and get them on the road to healing and recovery. And this is where Sully meets one of the sons of the Whiskeys who run the Redemption Ranch. And Cowboy is the broody serious son. He is the protector and helps the most with damaged and abused horses. But for Sully, he is her safe haven, she feels more safe in his arms than anywhere else. But as they develop a strong bond, Cowboy is hesitant to move faster than he should with Sully, he knows that she is recovering and he doesn’t want to push her too fast. But Sully knows that even though their relationship is new, and she is learning to heal, she also knows that you fight for who you love…

There was something merciful in his eyes, something that drew her in and held her there, making her want to trust him, and that was terrifying.

My Outlook
This book was simply everything! I adored every single aspect of this story. And what I loved the most was the focus on the healing and balancing it out with a romantic relationship. There is such a authentic feel to how Melissa Foster captures the essence of the heart between these two characters. And how good they are for each other. I was instantly drawn into their relationship, because you can sense their deep connection from the very beginning. I couldn’t seem to get enough between these two. And they were truly so delightful to see together and the in which they just lift each other up in the right ways. I have read plenty of healing romances but this is hands down the best one that I have ever had the pleasure to read. In this story we see such a strong delivery of balance of chemistry and deep connection. Cowboy is such a protector but isn’t overbearing or overstep at all, and when Sully stands her ground, he respects her even more. But he is his own man and he makes his own decisions and I love that he does what he believes is right even if his family disagrees. I loved seeing him come into his own and fight for his woman. Both Sully and Cowboy have to learn to fight for each other and it epic when they do it when it counts and do it TOGETHER!! And that ending, my heart just crashed. This author just tore me up with so much intense emotion and seeing what happens to bring them to their HEA was brilliant and so poignant, I guarantee it will be a moment that as a reader you can easily get so lost in.

Baby, I’d rather walk around soaking wet and chilled to the bone than live a single day without you by my side.

Overall View
I found For The Love of Whiskey to be a powerhouse of a romance, delivering on depths of human emotion, atmospheric moments of the american west, bringing together the heart of family and crafting your own happiness when it matters the most!

He’d become her safe place, her anchor, her calm in the face of a storm, and as her hearbeat settled, she wished she could stay right there in his arms…forever

For the Love of Whiskey continues Sully's story. After reading Jax and Jordan's story in Then Came Love, Sully's story became one of my highly anticipated reads for 2023. I knew going in, that For the Love of Whiskey would take me on an emotional journey. However, I never expected it to own me heart and soul. Foster is known for writing heartfelt stories, but with Sully's story she went above and beyond.

Sully's story breaks the heart and inspires all at once. The things she endured would break a weak individual, but she was far from weak. One cannot help but to admire her strength, which left from the pages of the book. Everyone who comes into her orbit sees not a broken girl but one who has survived against all odds.

Callahan Whiskey aka Cowboy is one of many wonderful heroes Foster has created. He supports and protect those he love and gives of his time selflessly. His caring nature and honesty shone throughout the story especially in his interactions with Sully. Interactions which were powerful and heartwarming. They shared a strong connection, which along with their sizzling chemistry came through from their first meeting. I loved seeing them together and it was a joy watching their relationship blossom. There was a point in their relationship where it worried me that Sully was becoming too dependent on Cowboy. However, she proved she could stand on her own.

Their love for each other faces the biggest test when Sully reunited with her family. Her sister needs her but so did Cowboy. He wants what's best for her even if meant breaking his heart in two. Eventually he learns that what he thinks is best is not necessarily the right thing. A fact he learnt with a little push from Sully.

Now I never expect the story could get any more emotional, but the ending proved me wrong.  The final events leading up to their Happily Ever After touched my heart in the most profound and powerful manner. As with all her previous books, Foster infused humour which added some levity, which aided in balancing out the more serious tones of the story.

For the Love of Whiskey is a powerful story of healing, overcoming one's fears, self-discovering and finding love unexpectedly. This is a story one will be hard-pressed to forget anytime soon. I know I won't. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

When I read Melissa Foster's Silver Harbor series, I had no idea that I had found a new favorite author.

I read the prequel to this book - Finding Sully - and really felt like it could have been added as a couple of extra chapters at the beginning of this book.

Sully was kidnapped at the age of 4 and kept in a cult until she escaped when she was 24. She was always strong-willed and determined to get away. After being picked up by a kind trucker, she goes to Redemption Ranch with the Whiskey Family, under the protection of the Dark Knights MC. Cowboy has been a protector his entire life, and he feels an immediate connection with Sully.

Sully has to learn to trust people, and that she can express her thoughts and feelings freely without fear of retribution or punishment. When she's reunited with her remaining family, she has to choose whether to stay at Redemption Ranch with the people who offered her a helping hand and protection when she needed it, or to go back to live with her sister.

I love Cowboy's quiet nature. He's introspective and understands a lot about a person just by observing, because that's how he's lived his entire life. I loved Sully because she had such a powerful sense of self, and she didn't let something that happened *to* her define the rest of her life.

Wow, is all I managed to say for the past week after reading this book. And today I'm having to find the right words to explain just what I feel about this story. The story starts out with the novella Freeing Sully. And so did my emotional rollercoaster.

I think from the second Sully met the Whiskeys. You knew she had been truly saved. When the story started to unfold and her interactions with Cowboy/Callahan began, my heart melted. Because Callahan was such a selfless caring man. And for Sully, even though hard, she started to see what her new reality could be.

I absolutely loved to read the growth we got to see with Sully learning to live and explore a life she had never had before. This book and story are very different from other books with this kind of theme, and it's so one of the most beautiful romances I've read. But I suggest you go and read it for yourselves.

This book is a huge recommendation for me. I can honestly say I loved it all and felt so completely drawn into the story, leaving me emotionally wreaked but in the best way possible.

I was so excited to read this one after loving the first book in the series, and oh my word I was not let down at all. My loves, Callahan “Cowboy” Whiskey is EVERYTHING and Sully is so incredible in her bravery and spirit. Sully has escaped a cult, and to get her the help she needs she finds herself going to Redemption Ranch, where she can be kept safe. Callahan is in charge of watching over her, and the sparks fly.

The way Cal, his family and friends, and others rally around Sully was so beautiful. I loved how there is a lot of attention given to her therapy sessions and working through her trauma. When she and Cal decide to try things out being together, there is SO much communication about what she’s comfortable with and how they should proceed, and what her therapy needs to look like now that she is trying a relationship. It was so wonderful seeing Sully experience so many firsts since her life was basically stolen from her. Cal is there every step of the way supporting her and helping her figure out who she is. Things get HOT between them too once they work up to it, let me tell you! I felt their love and passion in every interaction.

Oh my gosh, the ending nearly killed me with emotion. I am loving this series a whole lot and can’t wait for Sasha and Ezra’s book. I need to get into the backlist too for the other connections between this series and others from this author. Many, many thanks to @melissafoster_author and @greyspromo for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Another awesome book by Melissa Foster is out and I've been waiting for it since Sully was first introduced at the end of her sister's story. So I was so excited to finally read it. As you know Melissa is one of my favorite romance authors but it's not just the romance it's the storylines that draw you in and hooks you. Her writing style is just so addictive and I can't get enough.

The newest book, For the love of Whiskey, follows Sully and Cowboy's emotional survivor story of a strong resilient woman who was kidnapped as a child into a cult and how she not only survived but escaped. Sully learns to trust, love and live life without restrictions and fear. It's such a beautiful emotional story. Cowboy is such a unique protector who just builds Sully up and helps her see and do anything she wants. He makes sure she always succeeds even if he breaks his own heart while giving her what she needs.

This story was so intense and full of tears both sad and joyous. I definitely recommend it. Just a warning there maybe be triggers to rape, abuse, and priming of children but it is a survivor story with a happy ending so definitely a story worth reading and admiring. So get it today. I couldn't put it down and I know you won't be able to either.

For the Love of Whiskey was the third book in The Whiskey’s Dark Nights, Redemption Ranch by Melissa Foster. It was one of many in her Love in Bloom series.

Callahan “Cowboy” Whiskey was a Dark Knight and worked with the horse rescues on his parents ranch. The moment he saw Sully, he knew she had been abused and he would protect her with his life until she could figure out her way.

Sullivan “Sully” Tate was lost. She grew up in a cult and had finally escaped at twenty five. She was in hiding and was fortunate to have found the Redemption Ranch. She trusted no one and had no idea how to live in the outside world, but she was determined.

The storyline was emotional. It pulled on heart strings and was well written and well developed. I enjoyed watching as Sully experienced new things, learned her likes and dislikes and appreciated how things played out . And Cowboy was a great teacher, friend and protector. He was all alpha but had soft edges for Sully.

All in all, it was a moving and heartfelt story. Additionally, Foster continued to develop the remaining characters in the series and Cowboy’s sister, Sasha is up next in A Taste of Whiskey.

I’m always a fan of anything to do with the Whiskey family, and this didn’t disappoint. Sully Tate managed to escape a cult in Virginia and luckily for her, the kind hearted trucker she met brought her all the way to Colorado. He and his wife contact Redemption Ranch, run by Whiskey family cousins and help rescue both horses and people who need some time to heal.
Callahan “Cowboy” Whiskey has been carrying around a flyer that was sent out to all the chapters of the Dark Knights motorcycle club for months. Casey Lawler has been missing since she was four. She was abducted from the scene of a car accident that killed her parents, and her sister has been searching for her. Cowboy’s convinced that she’s Sully, but after all she’s been through, can she handle this too? And what will he do with all the feelings he has for her when she’s strong enough to leave?
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone. I’m only upset that it will be another year before the next one!

"For the Love of Whiskey" is a prime example of this, as it not only met my expectations, but exceeded them in every way possible. This book tells a poignant tale of resilience in the face of tragedy and the transformative power of love and acceptance.
"For the Love of Whiskey" is a must-read romance that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you feeling both crushed and hopeful all at once. I highly recommend adding it to your TBR list and giving it a read. Trust me, you won't regret it!

ARC kindly received for an honest review.

Cowboy and Sully's story was very interesting - the situation that Sully has come out of, and all that she has to deal with is absolutely huge. Cowboy/Callahan is the perfect match for her and is so sweet and understanding and supportive of her.

Sully herself is just so strong, and the path she is determined to forge is wonderful. I loved all the Dark Knights/Whiskey/Ranch characters, and enjoyed reading this one. Definitely looking forward to more from this series.

Anything Melissa Foster writes I will read. This book was so emotional so heart wrenching I could not put it down.

Cowboy and Sullivan were the perfect pairing for each other. Not only their separate stories, but their story together just showed love is powerful.

I highly recommend reading this book you will not want to put it down.

DNF at 65%.

This dragged once I got to the 40% mark. Overall, the writing was good, and I have no complaints about the characters, I just needed the pacing to be a little better.

I'm sure I've said it before and I will say it again, Melissa Foster is so incredibly talented and a master with words. Her words and worlds come alive on page and will make you feel like you're a part of it. She writes stories that are bound to break your heart but then mend it, that will inspire you and make you stronger. This book is further proof of that.

For The Love of Whiskey's been on my most anticipated books since before its title was revealed. Once I read about The Whiskeys at Redemption Ranch and all that they do I wanted more of them.

Callahan "Cowboy" Whiskey is a natural-born protector, a Dark Knights biker, and a hell of a rancher. He is a true gentleman, and a perfect green flag. He knows who he is, and stands by what he believes is the right path. Sullivan"Sully" Tate’s just escaped from the cult that held her captive for as long as she can remember, she has no idea who she is and where life is going to lead her when she found herself put under the Whiskeys' protection at Redemption Ranch and under Cowboy's watchful eyes.

Let me start by mentioning how descriptive the setting of this book is. It felt real like you're at Redemption Ranch which a place I think many of us would want and need to be at. This is where we see the true power of found family and its support, the power of good therapy and open communication. I love books that openly talk about therapy and do a good representation of it, and in here you can see the amount of research and hard work Melissa's done to give us a great perfect representation.

Callahan and Sully's relationship evolved perfectly, I think it was well paced and I loved seeing Sully finding and discovering herself while having Callahan's complete support. He never pushed for anything, and let her set the pace she is most comfortable with. Them becoming lovers from friends has been flawlessly executed. Their relationship is a perfect example of what a healthy relationship looks like. They complete each other. She is the love that he never knew he wanted and he became her anchor when she needs it, her biggest supporter and eventually the love of her life.

Sully's self discovery journey was hard, what she's been through was awful. But I am so happy she found her way to the Whiskeys world and then found more that she bargained for. She found family, love, support and guidance. She is so strong to overcome what she went through, to be able to talk about it and to accept the help she knows she needs even though it was so hard sometimes. Melissa Foster writes strong female characters and that's just facts.

Another thing, Sully and Callahan's chemistry is off the chart. And they're just beautiful and HOT together 🔥

If you want to read a book about healing after trauma, with good representation of mental health and therapy, plus a healthy relationship with open and honest communication between the characters especially the main ones, then this one is for you.

This story dealts with difficult topics and Melissa knew how to touch on those with ease, never making the reader feel uncomfortable. She truly understands the human soul and how to lure her readers in, creating worlds you can and will get lost in with the right amount of angst, sweet and sexy. I'm always looking forward to what she'll write next.

Thank you Melissa Foster for sending me an ARC in exchange of my honest review 💙

For the Love of Whiskey🤠

I think this is my favourite book of the series so far❣️ Sully and Callahan’s story is one of inspiration, hope and second chances at life. Melissa is a fairly new author to me, but I connected with the characters in all her books of this series so far…deeply - which is unusual for me unless I know the author and their writing well. I could feel myself choking up towards the end and I was in desperate need of tissues as well😭

Loved it and I can’t wait to dive into the next book😍
