You can’t always believe what you read…
Dogwood Donuts owner and amateur sleuth, Maggie Sharpe, is less than enthusiastic about the prospect of being interviewed by a journalist, particularly one who is rude and unprofessional. But when the journalist claims that she can get a story to go national, Maggie reluctantly agrees.
The arrangements for the interview are made, but when Maggie doesn’t hear back from the woman, she begins to worry. After further investigation, Maggie finds out that the journalist is known for writing hit pieces, which makes her want to call off the interview but she still can’t get in touch with the woman. Much to Maggie’s horror, the woman is found dead…while in the middle of writing the story about the donut shop.
While rumors abound, Maggie sets out to prove that the journalist wasn’t quite who she claimed to be. With her best friend in tow, she dives into an investigation, hoping to discover the whole truth about the journalist.
Suspects are abundant, but there’s still one big piece of the puzzle that’s missing and Maggie isn’t sure she’ll be able to get the answers that she needs in order to bring the case to a close.

This series never gets stale. This latest addition to the series is well written and fun. All the regulars make an appearance and are their usual quirky selves. The storyline is a bit different and the mystery kept me guessing. Can't wait to see what happens next!
When a reporter asks to interview the owner of the donut shop she's not pleased that Ruby will be joining them. But the donut shop crew is less than pleased when they discover the article is a hatchet job. Of course when the reporter turns up dead no one is happy and they set out to track down the killer.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Maggie found herself regretting agreeing to talk to a reporter after she found out some not so nice stuff about what the woman was notorious for writing. But things went even more complicated than that when the woman ended up dead in her hotel room.
Time for Maggie and Ruby to leave the shop in the trusted hands of Myra and Orson to do some old-fashioned sleuthing as well as what Maggie ended up learning online. I definitely didn't expect the killer to be who it was.
I liked the new fellow small business Maggie and Ruby met and hope this person shows up in another book. Can't wait to borrow the next in KU!

Bake your claim
I started with the first book in this series. I thought it was ok. It was interesting and I couldn't figure out the ending or who dun it till almost the end. It was refreshing and easy to read. So I decided to get the next book. It was better then the first. I finished the 12th book in the series and I gotta say I've enjoyed them all. The plots are different and unexpected. The story line is strong with depth into Maggie's growing personality. You've got to read all the books starting from the first book.

The Dogwood Donut family is at it again.
I was surprised that Maggie and Ruby sat down with Tori given how odd she'd been acting on their first meeting. I liked how new characters were introduced. The Dogwood family keeps expanding in a good way. It was good to see Maggie and Ruby not get hurt, be in danger and not be at odds with Brett, Chief Mission.
These short reads are a great way to wind down before bed, except for the food descriptions which may cause a hunger pain or two.

Great Book!
A reporter comes to town & wants to write an article about the donut shop. Maggie & Ruby aren't sure, but they go ahead and talk to her. After talking g to her, they figure d themselves in the middle of a big mess. Well written story. I really enjoyed reading this one & look forward to more.

They are quite capable of following a conversation without all the incessant and annoying "Maggie said, Ruby said, he said, Myra said, Orson said, she said....".
If you are adding those to up your word count, please stop!
Add another red herring or twist to get the count up instead.

another good one Ms Ainsley
These are short but good. I like the relationship Maggie and Ruby have. Best friends, co workers, traveling buddies. Maggie always figures out the murder mystery. Another one please Ms Ainsley.

When Maggie is talked into giving an interview to a journalist it does not feel right. When they start to look into the journalist she turns up murdered. Lots of twists and turns and surprises. A fun read.

I like the interplay between the characters at the donut shop. And that the author doesn’t portray the police as too incompetent to solve a mystery. This was a quick enjoyable story.
