A witty and candid glimpse of life in cable news from a long-time anchor who walked away from the spotlight and found joy in faith, family, and life’s simple pleasures.
This upbeat memoir is full of the edgy humor Patti Ann Browne’s fans love. She takes an honest look at the highs and lows of her life, both on and off the air. She provides insights into the turbulent world of television news and weaves in advice for aspiring journalists, parents of preemies, working moms, and anyone trying to stay grounded in a world that increasingly values superficiality.
In this entertaining and intimate memoir, the woman known by fans as “The Notorious P.A.B.” reveals why she walked away from her TV news career after three decades. Patti Ann Browne also shares funny and poignant stories of her life off camera—from how she met her husband four years after turning down a blind date with him, to her son’s near death shortly after his premature birth and how it changed her perspective on life. She chronicles life as an “Irish triplet,” and tells the dramatic story of her twin sister secretly placing a baby for adoption and being reunited with him decades later.
While many books declare that you can “have it all,” Patti Ann dares to say no one can…but with flexibility and gratitude, you can come close. From local cable to MSNBC and then Fox, the #1 cable news network in America, Patti Ann describes her determination to write her own story. She resists the pressures of climbing to the top and the sacrifices that entails, ultimately choosing faith and family.
From her humble upbringing in Queens to rubbing elbows daily with the world’s movers and shakers in Manhattan, Patti Ann explains how she found a way to enjoy the perks of the glamorous life of an anchor while (mostly) avoiding the pitfalls.
Fiercely protective of her middle-class lifestyle, Patti Ann believes simple pleasures are life’s greatest joys. Her uplifting story is one of following your heart, owning your mistakes, living with integrity, and leaving the rest to God. Rooted in faith and optimism, it’s a redemptive tale of humility and serendipity. Patti Ann demonstrates that with hard work and a willingness to change course, we can all write a life story with a happy ending.

If you’re looking for a book that highlights the important aspects of Life, then Write Your Own Story is just the book for you!
I give Write Your Own Story five out of five stars!
Write Your Own Story chronicles the ups and downs of Patti Ann Browne a TV anchor and reporter who left a successful career to put her family first. It covers her early life, her family, how she met her husband, her rise in TV journalism, and the birth of her son who was born prematurely.
She's had a lot a joy in her life, but it wasn't without challenges; however her attitude remains positive and can-do.
I was particularly interested in her journalism career, seeing how she rose through the ranks, moving from station to station. How and where her "big breaks" came.
Anyone who likes memoir/biography about successful women would enjoy this book, but also, mothers who have had preemie babies or who are raising children with special needs would get a lot out of it, too.
I saw Patti Anne on Gutfeld rerun downloaded the book and finished it in less than twenty-four hours. I was and still am a fan of Patti Ann. She is engaging, smart and exudes sincerity. I was uplifted emotionally and spiritually by the book. He reporting about her sister’s handling of her unplanned pregnancy was awe inspiring. Family support and individual values saved a life. They were able to see what their decision resulted in. Ms Brown equating it with “it’s a wonderful life” was great. Pro-life groups should be using this story as an example of why giving life to unborn is important. Highly recommend the book.
I loved PAB’s writing style and excellent story telling. I’ve no interest in being a broadcaster but watch a lot of news. This behind the scenes look was fascinating. I didn’t know who this was until I saw her and Gutfeld, but was instantly interested in learning more about her. I was not disappointed! Pictures at the very end are a wonderful ending! I would recommend this book for anyone that enjoys autobiographies of compelling and interesting American Icons.
I was not familiar with Patti Ann Browne, but was interested to read this memoir of a newscaster who is both conservative and Christian, as I am. As a long time journalist, Browne is a very good writer. My only criticism is that the book reads more like a news report, even when she is telling stories about her premature infant in the NICU. I would have liked a bit more emotion in the book. If you would like a glimpse of the life of a newscaster who rose to the top ranks of broadcast journalism, this would be a good read. I received a complementary copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
