Short easy fun read. Didnt love it since nothing in particular blew me away and minor annoyances like I think Kudou sensei is an overly convenient professor whose interest is SO closely tied to the romantic situation between MC and FMC and I dislike how convenient that is as a plot point to address the two. I also felt the friend liking anime is a likely (and probably overly obvious) side romance that will show her to be Tomokazu Maru's online friend. That's my guess anyway and I hope its not right, since it'd be too obvious.
I still dislike that Yuuta hasn't found anything job-wise for Ayase that's better than the bookstore she applied to, plus she's still making most of their food so he needs to do that instead since he didn't hold up his Volume 1 bargain.
I do also still think she's a little TOO enarmored with him, and there's some plot points that try to act/be smart that are just so obvious. Ex MC lectures about how to reduce choices by eliminating things they don't want to make it easier to pick. Yes, I know this is an actual thing in psychology but it's not some mindblowing thing. The writer writes it out as this super smart clever thing when it isn't. Also didn't feel the short story afterward with crosswords was interesting at all either - it was just a convenient way to talk about stepsisters as part of the solution.
Anyway, I complain, but I still found it fun and decent enough. I like the budding romance, and I enjoyed the scenes of the two progressing to holding hands/a kiss, plus it's semi sweet how Ayase has a nice Halloween now with the candle, juxtaposed to when she spent it alone as a child.
I am curious what Shinjou will say/do now that MC told him he likes FMC, and I do want to see FMC's friend Narasaka (spelling?) meet Maru. Plus the taboo nature of the stepsibling romance is interesting, and I want to see how their family dynamics play out and evolve.
Overall, a good fan translation and an enjoyable enough light novel read. Didn't love it, didn't hate it, liked it decently so. 2.5-3/5 stars ish. I think I would've liked it more if the two openly discussed their relationship or if it showed immediately after their kiss how they transitioned to a normal talk. Oh, and I also didn't love how it repeated each day from Ayase's PoV - some of those repeats weren't necessary, and I think it would've worked better with just Yuuta's PoV on some of those days.
Anyway, I plan to continue the series for now, though I do find it a bit overrated with its fanbase. An okay ish HS romance light novel though.
It's a continuation from the last one. Even if the month has passed there is development now.
The teacher and other forced mentors weren't as present as the last one. There is another review that points put well the flaws within this book.
It is a slow burn as nothing really happened until the last chapters but there was some development through the book so it's nice that is not rushing either.
It motivates me to read to know how would they parents react. What the other guy who has a crush on Ayase will do as he knows about the mc feelings toward her? Probably nothing because the mc was explicit in saying it was one sided. Would he choose to intervene in order to try to win her?
I haven't read many romance books but this one is entertaining at least. Do I even remeber about other romance books I have read? No haha.
