I would give this book 5 stars, but it doesn’t cover every episode. That being said, the ones that it does cover are some of the best, and I loved the commentary provided by the writers and cast.

Przeżyjmy to jeszcze raz!

Wydawnictwo SQN systematycznie dopieszcza miłośników serialu ""Friends. W ubiegłym roku pojawiła się książka Kelsey Miller "Przyjaciele. Ten o najlepszym serialu na świecie" i chociaż dla mnie pozycja była ciekawa, to jednak nie przypadła ona do gustu tym, którzy oczekiwali dużej ilości zdjęć i ciekawostek z kręcenia kolejnych odcinków. "Przyjaciele na zawsze" skutecznie obala oba zarzuty, ponieważ jest to album z fotosami najzabawniejszych scen oraz wspomnieniami najlepszych odcinków.

To, na co od razu zwraca się uwagę, to fantastyczna oprawa graficzna. Co tu dużo mówić - album jest po prostu ładnie wydany i cieszy oko. Sam układ książki, kolejnych rozdziałów (sezonów) sprawia, że trudno jest przerwać lekturę i co chwilę obiecujemy sobie, że to już ostatnia strona (odcinek). Oczywiście jako człowiek, który serial obejrzał od początku do końca wielokrotnie, chętnie zobaczyłabym zestawienie wszystkich odcinków, bo dobór najlepszych jest zawsze subiektywny, jednak rozumiem, że w takim wypadku techniczne przeszkody byłyby trudne do przeskoczenia.

Chociaż książkę czytało mi się bardzo dobrze i uznaję ją za świetne źródło wiedzy o samym serialu, to jednak udało mi się wychwycić kilka błędów merytorycznych (nie dotyczyły one bezpośrednio "Przyjaciół"). Trudno jest mi ocenić, kto w tym przypadku zawinił - autorzy czy tłumacz. Wszystkie te niedopatrzenia uznaję za drobne potknięcia, które ostatecznie nie wpływają znacząco na odbiór całej lektury.

Jeżeli jesteście fanami serialu - to książka dla Was. Jeżeli chcecie w końcu zapamiętać wszystkie kategorię ręczników Moniki - to książka dla Was. Jeżeli chcecie się dowiedzieć, kto pierwotnie w serialu miał grać kogo, ale ostatecznie zagrał kogoś innego - to książka dla Was. Jeżeli z sentymentem wracacie do serialu (niezależnie od tego, czy po raz enty oglądacie wszystkie dziesięć sezonów od deski do deski, czy tylko wybrane odcinki na wyrywki) - to książka dla Was. Przeżyjcie to jeszcze raz!

Oh, *heavy sigh* F•R•I•E•N•D•S ... when Netflix lost their contract and one of my favorite shows could no longer be watched on the daily, this book filled the void.

First, the images within from the show and BTS were excellent. Clear. Awesome, especially sneaking peeks behind the scenes.

Second, the shows. I wished it had touched on literally every episode, but that book would be 100 pounds and thick as my own glasses. The episodes is did mention were some of the best from each season and a few I’d like to debate about why they were included. Great synopses on those episodes included, that felt like it was covered and you had just watched an episode.

Third, the random stories told about pieces of an episode or about a character. Tidbits that you may not have known before. Enough to win the F•R•I•E•N•D•S trivia game (which when I play is almost like the one where Ross made up the game and Monica bet the apartment. “MAURICE! SPACE COWBOY!”)

I loved this book so much. I couldn’t recommend it more to any F•R•I•E•N•D•S-stan out there. It filled the void that loss of streaming left... waiting on HBO’s new streaming channel so life can be right again. However, if I’m craving a F•R•I•E•N•D•S fix anytime soon, I’m pulling out the book!

While I can't compare this book to any of the others that came out about Friends in 2019, I can say that I really enjoyed this! The bulk of this book is going through several episodes per season, giving a synopsis, and then providing a few insider facts. I enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane with the synopses, although they weren't 100% necessary for someone like me who has seen the series several times. I did enjoy the clarifications that were made on time-sensitive jokes that have always gone over my head, though! The bulk of the insider information can be found at the front and back of the book, which discusses the characters' casting, how the show came about, and much more. I learned a lot of cool things from this book and thoroughly enjoyed reading it, but I would have liked even more inside information and thoughts straight from the cast.

While there are things I now recognize as problematic with the show, Friends was a core part of my high school experience. I have great memories of watching regularly with friends and eating an entire pint of Ben & Jerry’s. (1. Who do I petition to bring back Wavy Gravy from the flavor graveyard? 😫 2. Those were the days…the days I could eat a whole pint of Ben & Jerry’s and not gain weight. 😂) Right after high school, I’d watch every week with my husband (future husband, more accurately 😂) at his parent’s house while eating frozen pizza and, you guessed it, Ben & Jerry’s! 😂 All of this to say that Friends has a special place in my heart because it represents a period of life that was young and carefree. The beginning of the book was a walk down memory lane with fun behind-the-scene details, but the intro was a small part of the book and the rest was just recapping episodes. This felt like an odd choice since you have to assume anyone reading the book is already a big enough Friends fan that they’ve seen every episode a million times and don’t get a lot out of reading straight recaps. Each season was represented by 10-11 episode recaps and each recap had a very small paragraph at the end with the author’s comments. I definitely expected more behind-the-scenes fun and was disappointed the book was almost exclusively recaps. It could have been an issue with the ebook, but the photos and quotes seemed out of order as well. Meaning, you’d read a segment in the recap, and then the corresponding photo or quote would show up pages later when another segment was being discussed, which I found distracting. (It was fun reading a book with photos on my Kindle Colorsoft though!) Sadly, I’m just not sure there was much value to be had reading this one beyond the nostalgia factor, especially if you’re a diehard fan who’s already really familiar with the series.

Fun book and I liked reading about the production of the show.

I just find it unfortunate that "The One About the Episodes" covers maybe a third of the episodes.

Could have been the ultimate Friends episode guide with trivia and now it feels like a rushed book, undoubtedly getting a future edition "wItH eVeN mOrE tRiViA".

I have been a big fan, as so many have since the series originally aired. So we all know that so much behind the scenes stuff has been thrown online for all of us to share; yet when you open the book you get a few delightful surprises. There is commentary throughout from the creators of FRIENDS as well as directors and the cast themselves!

I really enjoyed going through the seasons and understanding bits and pieces of why things came to be on the show. This book would have gotten 5 stars from me if it had gone through every episode. I know it would have been a heavy book but just imagine all that information!!

Perfect for a Friend's fan. The beginning gives insight into how the show was born and the cast ensembled. It then goes into detail on popular episodes with tidbits a viewer wouldn't know. My only wish was that there was more insight and less recap on each page. But overall, I love anything Friends!

3,5 stars. This book can be a nice gift for every Friends fans - many great pics, some interesting details about show. Basically it is a guide through every season of Friends - from 1 to 10, which is getting a little scrappy with every season. Anyway it was quite a pleasure to have this guide in my Friends journey.

Bardzo fajna książka dla fanów serialu. Dowiedziałam się z niej wielu ciekawostek dotyczących obsady jak i poszczególnych odcinków.
W środku bardzo ładne fotografie, które cieszą oko. Czyta się szybko. Natomiast tłumaczenie jest fatalne. Osobiście jestem dość słaba z angielskiego, ale nawet takiej osobie jak ja to przeszkadzało. Przetłumaczone dialogi brzmiały tu zupełnie inaczej niż w serialu, co czasem doprowadzało do zmiany sensu wypowiedzi. Tłumaczka też błędnie używa niektórych polskich zwrotów, które powodują, że zdania nie mają kompletnie sensu.
Ale i tak na końcu łezka w oku się zakręciła.

This review is based on the book itself combined with my limited knowledge of the series.

Let me start by saying I am not in the Friends fandom.
However, I have seen some episodes, know some of the interlacing storylines, and do have friends that tell me about this favorite sitcom of theirs (in great depth).

On with the review!

This book is HUGE. The part of the title stating "The One About the Episodes" is taken to a high level. You'll find a fun facts, quotes, pictures, trivia, and more than I feel like listing. This guide, though big, isn't daunting. Like the sitcom, it was entertaining from beginning to end.

Loved every bit of it, the images, the snippets from interviews and curiousities from different episodes...

Read it while watching the series again and it was just great. ^_^

Shame some episodes were missing, like for example the Thanksgiving one with the floating heads (one of my favourites). It'd have been great to know things about that one.

Also, I wonder why Gary Susman didn't do proper research before writing that Christina Pickles played Renée Zellweger's mother in the Bridget Jones's Diary movies. It was Gemma Jones! *facepalm

Other than that, great book. <3

After reading this book, it seems clear to me that I no longer want "reunion" for them. They are definitely beginning a new stage in life. The young adult era is coming to an end, and with it, the series as a whole, given that it was conceived as a show about that specific time in life. Everybody was growing up, indeed. And, if I miss Friends someday, I will binge-watch the episodes again and again, or even reread this incredible book.

To było niesamowite uczucie potwórci do świata "Przyjaciół", powspominać odcinki, obejrzeć świetne kadry, dowiedzieć się wielu nowych rzeczy o powstawaniu tego serialu.
Pod koniec ocierała łzy, bo chyba nie ma lepszego serialu niż "Przyjaciele", którzy uczą prawdziwego życia, w którym nie zawsze jest kolorowo.

Friends is a show I grew up with, but I've come to have a complicated relationship with it. One of the show's biggest and most well-known criticisms today is how white and heteronormative it was, among other things. And since my worldview has dramatically shifted with the times over the years, Friends simply hasn't aged well. Many of the classic jokes at the time just don't seem funny anymore, while the relationships aren't that relatable.

I decided to give this book a go anyway, before putting it in the "donate" pile. But I found the writing to be mediocre at best, with only a paragraph or two at the very end addressing the show's muted "legacy," mostly excusing it as a product of its time, which is a common sentiment among the show's enduring fanbase, but seems like a bit of a cop out to me. It otherwise offers up fawning commentary that panders to its target audience, which gets quite exhausting as the synopses of key episodes wear on.

It also needs some major editing among some of the wordier sections, where it talks in circles quite a bit. The "commentary" boxes for each episode sometimes read more like an extension of the episode summary without actually providing anything insightful. And it heavily repeats many behind-the-scenes factoids, from name checking the designers of iconic costume pieces to the locations (or general lack thereof) to the fact that Carol and Susan's wedding was controversial for the time. Or that they weren't allowed to show a foil-wrapped condom in the earlier seasons. While the book does a decent job recapping the show's recurring and guest stars, not one of them are ever pictured, aside from a lone shot of Gunther.

There are a handful of gems. It briefly frames the show's impact and influence on the television landscape well, both in terms of storytelling and showbiz aspects. And some little-known tid bits and favourite moments from the stars are fun to read. But many of these details are sourced from previous interviews, so hard core fans may have heard them all before.

I'm glad I read it, but I'll be more than happy to pass this book along to someone who is hopefully a more fitting and more forgiving fan of Friends than I am.

Friends was a staple of my young adult years. The show happened to be on TV exactly when I had come home from school and had eaten dinner. Younger me really loved it, but older me has had a hard time getting back into Friends - and a rewatch in Netflix was just cut short a few years ago. I did no longer find it very funny, and to preserve some of the old nostalgia I decided Friends is a show I can never rewatch.

On to this book - I thought I could read about it instead. After Matthew Perry's passing I've thought more about Friends than I have in many years and decided to find some nonfiction books about the TV show, this was the first I picked up.

This is an episode guide - sort of. The book starts with a chapter about the creation of Friends and the road to season 1 and the characters as we know them. Actually quite interesting. The part of the book about the episodes - the longest part of the book? - less thrilling. There's more recap than I thought and less commentary. Describing the episodes should not be the main point, the commentary should be.

As I read the book I was reminded of watching it on TV and how different everything was back then. The show will never not be a nostaliga trip. Despite this, and despite this being a book about the show, the episode recaps did dredge back up some of my old and new pet peeves.

For one - I hated the will-they-won't they with Ross and Rachel. By season ten I did not want to see them together, ever again. Rachel making her choice at the end was a sour bite for me to swallow. I also was reminded that I disliked Rachel and Joey as a romantic pairing, and that Phoebe went from being quirky to spiteful and really really mean. RIP to her character.

The show should have ended with season eight, and this book needed more commentary and less describing of the episodes - the people who read this book have already watched them.

Kolejna książka, którą Wydawnictwo SQN wydało z myślą, o fanach serialu F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Czy myślicie, że jest jakiś inny sitcom, który jest od nich popularniejszy? Według mnie zdeklasowali wszystko! U mnie serial leci na okrągło, szczególnie podczas jesieni i zimy, gdy więcej czasu spędzamy w domu, a wieczory są o wiele dłuższe. O samym serialu chyba mówić nie muszę — pewnie każdy z Was wie, o co w nim chodzi i, że zdecydowanie wyznaczył on standardy i sprawił, że inni producenci mogli się na nim wzorować, a niektóre hasła i zwroty do dzisiaj obowiązują w naszej kulturze.

Ta książka przeniesie nas na plan mojej ulubionej produkcji! Przypomni o wyjątkowych odcinkach i pokaże wszystko od podszewki. Na samym początku mamy rozdział, który nas wprowadzi i ujawni nam, skąd w ogóle wziął się pomysł na tę produkcję i jak wyglądały castingi na aktorów. Wiecie, jak to się stało, że Phoebe zagrała Lisa Kudrow, a Chandlera Matthew Perry? Ja również nie wiedziałam. Pamiętacie Marcela? Ja już się dowiedziałam, co się z nim stało, jak zniknął z ekranu. Ta książka to wiele faktów, które jeszcze lepiej pozwalają nam poznać serial i przypomnieć sobie niektóre historie lub zwrócić uwagę na szczegóły, które na ekranie nam umknęły.

Następne rozdziały to przejście przez wszystkie sezony Przyjaciół! Z każdego z nich mamy wybranych około 10 odcinków, które są dokładnie odpisane wraz z komentarzem od wydawcy. Do tego ta książka jest po prostu ucztą dla naszych oczu! Jest przepięknie wydana, pełna ilustracji i zdjęć, które jeszcze lepiej przybliżą nam opisywane sceny i momenty z produkcji. Książka jest w twardej oprawie, z większym formatem i będzie idealnym pomysłem na prezent dla bliskiej na osoby, która jest fanem serialu.

Zdecydowanie ta produkcja przecierała szlaki innym serialom! Wielkie kubki, pomarańczowa sofa i fioletowe drzwi zostaną z nami już na zawsze!

"Mindegy, kik vagyunk, mennyire elkeseredtünk, vagy hányadszor nézzük újra az egyes epizódokat. A Jóbarátok mindig ott van, ha kell."

Nagyon sokáig nem szerettem a Jóbarátokat, mindig átkapcsoltam a tévét, ha beleütköztem. Egy túltolt biciklinek tartottam annak ellenére, hogy a 70+-os - sajnos ma már nem élő -, rendkívül konzervatív gondolkodású nagymamám könnyesre tudta nevetni magát rajta. Aztán tavaly ilyenkor éppen új állást kerestem, időm volt bőven. Egy sokadik ismétlés kezdődött éppen, ott is ragadtam. Beszereztem saját használatra is, és egyre jobban kezdtem érteni a mamát és a rajongókat.

A sorozat befejezése után elolvastam a Jóbarátok-generációt, addigra már teljesen a szívembe zártam ezt a hat nevetséges, néha esetlen, abszurd karaktert, akik megállították valahol az időt. Teljesen mindegy, hogy '94 van, vagy 2022, a huszonéves és a harmincas korosztály ugyanazokkal az egzisztenciális és érzelmi nehézségekkel néz szembe, ettől lesz az egész kortalan. És mindenki találhat olyan karaktert, vagy egy momentumot, amiben magára ismerhet, talán ezért is tudja magát megszerettetni ez a sorozat.

A Mindörökké Jóbarátok eleje gyakorlatilag a már említett könyv illusztrált változata is lehetne, nyilvánvalóan egy rajongó számára tartalmában nem tud újat adni. Ellenben jól szerkesztett, megjelenésében nagyon igényes kiadvány sok fotóval, némi extra tartalommal. A 100 legjobb epizód felidézése pedig abszolút olyan mint amikor a DVD-ket az ember audiokommentárral nézi. Egy nosztalgikus vizuális időutazás rajongók számára, a (még) nem rajongóknak pedig kiváló kedvcsináló lehet, hogy belekezdjenek a sorozatba.

„Przyjaciele” to jeden z najbardziej znanych serialów komediowych na całym świecie. Pomimo tego, że jego premiera odbyła się równo 25 lat temu, miliony fanównadal chętnie oglądają i dyskutują o sitcomie.

Właśnie z okazji ćwierć dekady, wydawnictwo sine qua non postanowiło wydać książkę, zbierającą ciekawe informacje o najlepszych odcinkach.
Początkowo myślałam, iż zbiór będzie tylko zapychaczem czasu, czyli mało treści i dużo obrazków. Gdy książka do mnie doszła, byłam zdziwiona jej grubością! Co najlepsze, większość to tekst, który przyzdabiają kadry z serialu.

Lektura okazała się być bardzo przyjemna. Dowiedziałam się wielu nowych rzeczy, oraz poprzypominałam sobie te które już znałam. Każdy sezon został opisany, i wybrano z nich najlepsze, najciekawsze odcinki. Nie zawsze zgadzałam się z ich wyborem, jednakże muszę przyznać, że zapadły mi one w pamięci.
Książka sprawiła, że mam ochotę obejrzeć cały serial po raz tysięczny! Bardzo cieszę się z powstania takiej powieści. Zajmie ona szczególne miejsce w mojej biblioteczce.
Niestety, jak już wspomniałam, oglądając sitcom wiele razy, większość faktów z książki były przeze mnie już znane. Lektura była przez to momentami nudna i musiałam od niej odpocząć.

Powieść najlepsza jest dla osób, które dawno temu widziały serial i chcą sobie przypomnieć o czym on jest.
Sama będę wielokrotnie powracać do zbioru, gdy przytrafi mi się gorszy dzień i będę potrzebowała uśmiechu.

Zdecydowanie polecam książkę dla fanów (jak ja), którzy nie mogą zapomnieć o szóstce najlepszych przyjaciół :)
