Anna's pony float is sure to be the main attraction at the town's Pony Parade...until one of Tommy Rand's pranks goes too far.
Anna has a great idea for the town's first ever Pony Parade. Ten lucky artists get to paint a lifesize copy of a pony. The painted ponies will be auctioned off at the Fall Festival and the money goes to the local fire department. The Pony Pals think Anna is a sure winner. She's the best artist in school! But Anna's mother has other ideas. No parade until Anna finishes her research paper. Ugh! And to make matters worse, Tommy Rand is up to his old pranks. Would he really sabotage all of Anna's hard work and destroy her pony design--just to be mean? Not if the Pony Pals can stop him!
When I was growing up I never thought of being an author. I was a terrible speller and didn't want to write any more than I had to. I wanted to be a tap dancer when I grew up. After a few years of teaching junior high and high school, I wrote my first novel. It was a surprise to discover that I liked making up stories and writing them down. I liked it so much that eventually I stopped teaching and became a fulltime writer.
Besides novels for children and young adults, I've also told stories by writing scripts for television and the movies.
I live on the top floor of a sixteen-story building near the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. From my apartment I have a view of Manhattan that includes the Empire State Building and the Plaza Hotel. In my free time I draw, paint, and read. I still love to dance.
Some people think that a writer's life is lonely. But when I'm writing a story I don't feel lonely because I am actively involved with lots of interesting people – the characters in my books. I love knowing that some day readers will get to know these characters, too. If you are one of my readers I hope you have as much enjoyment in reading my stories as I have writing them.
Like all the rest, I enjoyed this book. It's one I never got a hold of as a kid, so it was all new to me. Though, I wasn't expecting the Harry Potter reference, as I was thinking these books were older than that--or maybe not the books themselves, but most of these stories have a timeless feel to them, and so it seems odd this book would date itself a little with the reference.
I loved how Anna tackled her problems, using her strengths to help her with her weaknesses. It's a good lesson for life, to look at problems with a different angle, to see how you can tackle it with your strengths. I also love the bit near the end, with how much others were willing to help Anna (vague because of spoilers). Overall, it was a great addition to the series.
my favorite part was when anna won a pony to paint, because everyone was happy then. the worst part was when the pony pals bully painted on the pony, and ruined it, because it was a mean thing to do. my favorite character was mike because he helped repaint the pony. the worst character was toomy, because he was a bully and ruined the pony in the first place. Pony Pals was one of my favourite "horsey" series growing up. Jeanne Betancourt has a writing skill that makes the books easy to read and interesting. I read many of the series and I was enthralled with each new story.
