Anna feels jealous when her neighbor's niece, Christine, arrives for a visit. Christine loves ponies, but she hasn't had a chance to ride because of her cerebral palsy. The Pony pals convince her to try lessons, but she is terrified of every horse, except Anna's Acorn. Soon Christine and Acorn develop a special bond, and Anna feels threatened.
When I was growing up I never thought of being an author. I was a terrible speller and didn't want to write any more than I had to. I wanted to be a tap dancer when I grew up. After a few years of teaching junior high and high school, I wrote my first novel. It was a surprise to discover that I liked making up stories and writing them down. I liked it so much that eventually I stopped teaching and became a fulltime writer.
Besides novels for children and young adults, I've also told stories by writing scripts for television and the movies.
I live on the top floor of a sixteen-story building near the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. From my apartment I have a view of Manhattan that includes the Empire State Building and the Plaza Hotel. In my free time I draw, paint, and read. I still love to dance.
Some people think that a writer's life is lonely. But when I'm writing a story I don't feel lonely because I am actively involved with lots of interesting people – the characters in my books. I love knowing that some day readers will get to know these characters, too. If you are one of my readers I hope you have as much enjoyment in reading my stories as I have writing them.
One of the things I love about this series is how naturally characters from different walks of life are included in the story. I never feel like the author was trying to fulfill a quota, but was just writing about characters who happen to have unique challenges, and the focus is usually more on how they interact with ponies/the Pony Pals than about whatever the lifelong challenge is.
It was easy to see why Anna was jealous of Christine, and I connected so strongly with her fear of somebody else being better at what makes her special. It's something anybody in a creative field has to deal with at some point, and I loved how this book dealt with it, and the conclusion of that.
Overall, this has to be one of my favorite entries in the series.
Anna is jealous of Christine, the girl who is visiting. Christine has cerebral palsy and has never ridden before. Since Acorn is a gentle pony Anna offered that she may learn to ride on him. Anna is worried that Acorn will like Christine more than her. Anna is also jealous of Christine's artistic abilities but soon gets over her feelings about Christine and the two girls become good friends.
When Christine comes to visit, she becomes friends with the pony pals. Anna is jealous of her because she thinks that she is a better artist than her. The pony pals teach her to ride Acorn. It's a bit hard for Christine because she has cerebral palsy. Anna is also jealous because she thinks that Acorn likes Christine better than her. To know what happens next, you will have to read this book!
This book is great. You have got to read it. I really like this book because I really wanted to know what happens.
In He's my Pony!, Anna and the pony pals meet a young girl, Christine, with Cerebral Palsy. Because of her walker, she believes that she cannot ride horses.
With Mrs. Crandal's and Acorn's help Christine begins to ride. But now Anna feels jealous and threatened that Acorn will like Christine better. In this book, Anna learns about the struggles of people with physical handicaps and about the importance of sharing.
This book is about these three girls that are in the Pony Pals club, and they meet a girl that had to use a walker and they try to help her try and ride Anna's pony. Mean while Anna gets jelous because the Pony acts like he likes the other girl better!GREAT book!
Pony Pals was one of my favourite "horsey" series growing up. Jeanne Betancourt has a writing skill that makes the books easy to read and interesting. I read many of the series and I was enthralled with each new story.
