The vulnerability in this book is a 5! The back and forth nature of the layout between the couple is a 4. Both well done and fresh. I gave it a two because it felt almost too personal and, while reiterated well, the larger points about communication and taking turns felt too vanilla is a sea of other books. Jon’s fables are AMAZING - start with those instead.

I was privileged to be part of a team that read and reviewed advance reader copies of this book.

Jon Gordon is growing on me. He was introduced to me as John Maxwell 2.0, and he's not that, but that's not bad. This book with his wife, Kathryn, uses their marriage as an example for how to work through the inevitable conflicts in any marriage. The end result is very effective. If you're married you'll learn something that will build your relationship and if you're not, you'll get a clear-eyed view of how hard and important it is to work together as a couple. Highly recommended.

Reading “Relationship GRIT” feels as though you are sitting down with lifelong friends while they share their story. Jon and Kathry are incredibly transparent as they open up about their marriage and give us a simple, yet profound framework for relationships. G-R-I-T (G=God, R=Resolve, I=Invest, T=Together). As they walk us through their lives, they give tons of practical advice that is grounded in the real heart change only God can provide. If your marriage is struggling, stagnant, or even doing well, this book is a must read and can help your marriage flourish and deepen in new ways.

This book will be another best seller by Jon Gordon. This time in collaboration with his wife Kathryn. It is not a fable. It is more of a self help for all couples. As part of the launch team was able to read digitally. They both bare their souls about their relationships with each other, the pitfalls, the heartaches and the growth of two people to become one team. Book set to release in early September.

I feel like the people reviewing this book are being really generous.
The entire book read like, “do as i say not as i do”. I dont feel like jon and kathryn are in a position of giving people marriage advice. Im pretty shocked that he has written several books about positivity and leadership after reading this story. They seem really negative.
I felt like i was reading the cliff notes from a longer story that ive already read before.

Maybe try doing a podcast next time instead of a book.

Wonderful to read a book that is so vulnerable. Appreciated the honesty and realness behind the celebrity. It's easy to forget some days that every person has trials and tribulations regardless of wealth or privilege.

You will have to change at some point. If not during your first marriage, you’ll have to change if you want to stay married during your second one. You’ll repeat the same pattern and mistakes if you don’t look in the mirror and address the problem. When you change, you are able to change your relationship for the better.

When you shine a light 💡 on the problem, the darkness dissolves, leading to a healthier relationship.

I would often think, “do I want someone who cooks in the kitchen all day or do I want someone who loved me and who I love?” “Do I want someone who gets the kids to bed at the same time every night or someone who will have a spontaneous dance party with the kids in the kitchen at the drop of a hat?” Each time I knew the answer 💛

If you want to improve your relationship, start by improving yourself. When you change for the better, you also change the relationship for the better. Pg 64

You know when you’re with the right person when they give you strength.

Don’t limit each other’s potential. Support each other as you become the best version of yourselves and pursue your goals and dreams together.

The one minute manager, Ken Blanchard talks about the fact that the more you praise someone for what they are doing right, the more often they will do things right.

Appreciate your differences. You and your partner are 2 different people. You should not expect the other to act or think exactly like you. HONOR what makes them unique. Perhaps you can see what makes them different is actually a good complement to you!

I absolutely LOVE Jon Gordon, I have read most of his books and I was so happy to see that this book was on Kindle Unlimited! I love all the advice for a long, successful marriage and I love how both him and his wife had tips from not her only her side, but from his side as well!

Probably 3.5 stars. I am a big Jon Gordon fan, and I was looking forward to this book. Without knowing Jon through his talks, other books, etc. I wonder what people would think. I would say the first 75% of the book is Jon and Kathryn telling their (abbreviated) story and referencing what they're doing (GRI). The last 25% (T) has more direct and helpful information and suggestions. I am going to have my husband read the book (he isn't familiar with Jon) and see what he thinks.
