Stranded at the edge of the galaxy, and forgotten by Earth in the wake of tragedy, the small group of survivors on Walker Colony turn to their founder's granddaughter to lead them. With dwindling supplies and an abundance of failing equipment, Shayla keeps the life support systems running with little more than her wits and duct tape as they wait for a ship that may never come.

Built to be faster, larger, and more powerful than human men, cyborgs are the perfect killing machines. The only mistake their creators made was giving them the ability to think and learn. Although fearsome and formidable, they are also enlightened and conscious of their human emotions. They rebel against their programming, escape their enslavement on Earth, and begin their search for a safe place to live in peace.

When the cyborgs discover the abandoned humans on Walker Colony, hope is renewed. The twelve surviving women are in desperate need of supplies and support, while the cyborgs require just a small sample of human female DNA to begin the process of ensuring the survival of their race. To protect the humans, the imposing cyborg captain decrees all women are hands off. Yet, once Freeman sees the fiery-haired Shayla, the powerful leader is on the verge of breaking his own rules.

As she learns more about the cyborgs' heart-wrenching story, Shayla agrees to help. Convincing the other survivors to join her won’t be easy. With the colony crumbling around them, a deal is struck, but a malevolent force is bearing down on them as secrets and betrayals jeopardize their mission. Will the threat result in tragedy for the colonists, or will Free and his cyborgs come to their defense, risking their hard-fought freedom in the process?

A Great Start to a New Series…

Loved reading this book by these two authors as we get an insight of each other’s writing based in a sci fi setting this book for me started off a bit slow but picked up pretty quickly after the world building before plot twist after plot twists took me on another journey…
Cyborg Captain Freeman and his compatriots have escaped persecution and abuse and wish to stay a new life on new worlds but in their escape they lost their most precious cargo their female cyborgs in a battle with the Interstellar Global Command, until he meets Shay a human at a remote colony that she has been at nearly all her life, Shay is quite a resilient and feisty character and I quite liked the chemistry between Free and Shay and with action, adventure and a little suspense kept me glued to the pages and I loved that we got to have a surprise side story with Ransom and Kristyn…
I will definitely I look forward to reading the next book in the series…

I love cyborg books! They are just so interesting to me. How they link computer and human together. I also enjoyed this book though because it showed how still very human these cyborgs were. Yes they are more but they still feel intensely. Even when they think they should have better control they still lose out to their human side, but not in a bad way. And I love that these cyborgs want to be better then their creators. I also loved how things just played out for these 2 MC's. They were both great to read about for me. And I liked how they were both leaders in there own ways. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes because the ending left so many possibilities!

I really enjoyed this book. The combination of desperate situations, sultry desire and encroaching danger creates an intense and highly potent combination that went down sinfully smooth and quickly had me addicted. Shayla and Freeman had incredible chemistry and I loved them as a couple. Swoony romance, thrilling adventure, taut drama, pulse-racing action and enticing twists are skillfully woven into a gripping tale that I thought was simply terrific! I can't wait to read more entries in this great series. I am independently, posting an impartial review.

This book is steamy!!!!

This was a unique story about cyborgs that have escaped slavery and are answering a distress call. What ensues after they make themselves known is a wild ride. Freeman is captain and Shayla is the leader of the humans on the outpost, when these two meet they are combustible! There is a lot going in this read, it ends kind of on a cliff hanger but not....lot of unanswered questions. This was an enjoyable read and I will look for the next in the series!

Absolutely loved this new start of cyborg series by these two wonderful authors. They have made this book so deliciously readable with hot sexy times and those little twists and turns and plenty of action. Not to mention the characters themselves, i really liked Shayla she has a strong character, and as for Freeman or Free as the call him his name is apt really given that he is the leader of cyborgs fleeing to be free and liberated.

I certainly am looking forward to the next book.

With the destruction of the female cyborgs, Freeman has the task of trying to maintain the peace and the continuation of his race.
(Whilst fleeing the females ship was targeted and destroyed)

Answering a distress call wasn’t on Freeman’s list of things to do. But answering the call might just save his comrades…..
They need female DNA to start the process of creating female cyborgs. And what happens to be on this planet……. females.

One in particular calls to Freeman, he’s putting it down to not seeing a woman for over three years, but we all know it’s more than that.

Shay is the unofficial leader on the small planet she’s called home for over three years. Her grandfather and father worked on the planet, so when a deadly virus wiped out most of the population, the remain survivors turned to Shay.
They’ve been abandoned by Earth, they have to face facts, there won’t be a supply ship or a rescue ship coming for them.
They need a miracle (Kristyn the security officer would say they needed coffee more!)

Being abducted wasn’t on Shay’s schedule. Even when she gets a look at her captor! Being asked to give DNA to start a new race isn’t sitting well with Shay, so you can bet she’s going to give her captor hell!!

So can Freeman get Shay to cooperate with his plans? And if she does, will he be able to let her go?
And what about the survivors on the planet? And will he be able to keep his men in line once they find out he wants to keep Shay for himself? (There’s been talk of taking the females as slaves/captives)

Loved meeting new characters, especially Ransom.
Ransom is his second in command (and has no filter) some of his comments had me chuckling, whilst other comments had me wanting to throw something at him!
Can’t wait to see the female who gets to take him on 😉

Am I ready for the next book? You bet I am 😊

This was a simply wonderful start to this new series captivating Reading
This was a simply captivating read that I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of, the characters were so very well written and without giving away too much about the plot or the characters and spiling the read for other readers that love books by both Morganna Williams and Maddie Taylor.
After three years as a space leader, he is given the job to protect twelve women that belong to the Colony, if their race of cyborgs is to survive it is essential that every one of these women survive as their DNA is imperative to their races survival and they will do whatever it takes to keep each and every one safe and sound.
Then he catches the scent of one of the females and he knows instantly that she is his and that he has to take her as his own, they are intended to be together without the slightest doubt. She is so beautiful, her body is so full of curves and lusciousness and knows that without a doubt there is nothing she is going to give up on, this male is hers and she is his without a doubt.
You will enjoy this wonderful read that is full of passion and action and I guarantee that you will enjoy every single moment of this read.
I do not want to spoil the plot so will say no more about the three of them, I assure you that you will enjoy every single moment of this book.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

“Taken” is the first book in the Cyborg Liberation Series and follows Shayla and Freeman. Through Maddie Taylor and Morganna Williams wonderful talent we enjoy their interactions, their chemistry and they made a beautiful couple. Their relationship is passionate and electric! Shayla is Human, Freeman is Cyborg, can they work things out? The authors keep us guessing until the very end!
Shayla is independent striving to keep the Colony far from Earth viable and working as they wait for supplies that may never come. Freeman is a Cyborg, created to be a slave to humans who has rebelled and gained his freedom with many Cyborgs and they are looking for a safe place to live, away from those searching for them. Oh, yes! They have much to work out!
This is the beginning of a series and while it doesn’t end on a true cliffhanger, the story is far from over and hard to put down! The characters have depth, the story is a steamy read, well written with many surprising twists and turns, fast paced and the romance is warm and snuggly.
It is realistic even when the circumstances or setting is not of this world. The characters are believable and as realistic as one can get in a world unlike our own. Primarily, authors Maddie Taylor and Morganna Williams write a love story to their readers in that the cadence of their prose is smooth, the conversation clear and grammatically relevant, and the characters true to their portrayal. Their work is EXCEPTIONAL, I’ve pre-ordered the next book and can’t wait to read it!

I loved this story by Maddie Taylor and Morganna Williams. I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait for the next one in the series to come out.

Freeman and his Cyborg brothers have escaped their creators and other humans. They have one small problem and that is they need females. Freeman needs to get one female to make their plan work. On a forgotten colony, Shayla has become the de-facto leader after a virus wipes out most of the population. She is doing everything she can to keep things going. Freeman has selected her to be use for their plan and takes her to their ship. He just doesn’t expect his feelings toward the plan to change though. They don’t see eye to eye at first but there is no denying their off the charts chemistry. Will they be able to come to an understanding and find a happily ever after together?

I loved most of this book and am awaiting the next one in the series. The romance between Shayla and Freeman was awesome as was the action and intrigue. The suffering and subsequent rebellion of the Cyborgs reminds me so much of Cynthia Sax’s Cyborg stories (which I love) and the story was filled with suspense and adventure. I very happily and voluntarily reviewed this book.

3,5 star.

The first book in a new series.

There were things I enjoyed and things I didn’t really care about.

It is the first in the series, so the ending is very open and there is also a set up to the next book. I did feel the story of Free and Shayla was not rounded up, but it could be that their story will continue in the next book.

I enjoyed the setting and the worldbuilding of the book and the interactions between the main characters. I could have done without Shayla being attacked every other chapter. it didn’t add to the story and I found it weird she didn’t really respond emotionally to what was happening to her.

There is a lot of insta love going around and that is something you like or don’t.

Hold on to your hat. Because this is a very fast paced, action-packed story. So well written and put together. The collaboration of these two authors is amazing. There are so many characters, all real and rounded. I would be exhausted if I was sweet Shayla, all the work she did and meeting Freeman! I was lucky to be able to read it in one day because I did not want to put it down and I want the next one now. Please. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I recommend it. This is a hot sexy and enjoyable fantasy story. One of the best that I have read in a long time.

Great Story

I love cyborg romances but hate when they are treated badly. This book is all about the fighting back and it was great, a little on the dark sexy side but not too overwhelming. I enjoyed the characters and the world building, it made for a exciting read. I’m not sure if I will read more of the series but readers that enjoy spankings will enjoy it I’m sure.

This story was really interesting. I hadn’t read much Sci-Fi romance and didn’t really know what to expect. I was gladly impressed. This had a lot of outer space action and drama and enough steam to power the ships engines!! It’s a standalone, but first in a series. Good Book and break from reality.

Sci-fi romantic suspense. Light years from Earth Shayla and a handful of survivors live in a research colony waiting for a response to a distress beacon they sent. Shayla was voted to be the colony leader when most of the colony’s inhabitants died from a mysterious virus.

Captain Freeman and his cyborg brethren, escaped their programming and absconded with 4 battle cruisers full of cyborgs. One star ship which was carrying all of the cyborg women was blown up by the humans trying to recapture them. This leaves the remaining cyborgs without females so the discovery of the Walker Research Colony with 12 human women (and 3 men) exciting.

The intent is to harvest DNA from the females and to create a new line of cyborg women. Plans don’t always go as intended.

The storyline is fast-paced and exciting with plenty of suspenseful moments, and many steamy interludes. This is the beginning of a series and while it doesn’t end on a true cliffhanger, the story is far from over. I consider it a HFN ending with more story left to unfold. This book also doesn’t just focus on one new couple. Around the middle of this book another human/cyborg pairing is introduced.

I was entertained and definitely intrigued enough to want to continue reading this series when the next book is released.

I received a free ARC from the author and Elle Woods PR; however, I am leaving an unbiased and voluntarily review.

I loved the way Taken had twists on what you usually find in SF romance. Freeman and his fellow cyborgs, while incredibly powerful and resilient beings, are nevertheless on the run from the Earth inhabitants who want them annihilated; Shayla and her fellow residents of a remote colony keep waiting for support from Earth that isn’t coming. Seeing these rejected and abandoned people come together was a highlight of Taken.

Freeman plans to use Shayla’s DNA to make more cyborgs, and I liked that Taylor and Williams confronted the ethical dilemma that presents. There’s a lot of action, especially in the second half of this book. The first part passed by a bit slowly for me, but once the various elements of this story coalesce, the second half moved quickly. I also liked that Taylor and Williams included a secondary romance in Taken. You don’t see that too often in SF romance, and it was refreshing.

A number of characters are introduced in this book, and while Taken tells the complete story of Shay and Free, there are clearly a lot of threads to be developed in this story of cyborgs struggling against the corporation that created and wants to subjugate them. It’ll be interesting to see where Taylor and Williams take this story next!

Shayla is the granddaughter of founder of research colony on the edge of known space. There hasn't been a supply ship in about three years and the equipment is on its last legs, so she is always fixing breakdowns instead of building with her engineering skills. Since she is part of original family, Shayla is looked on as their leader since a devastating virus killed over half of the colony, including her father. Freeman is the leader of two ships stolen from Interstellar Global Command when cyborgs defied their programming which had them killing indiscriminately and escaped...but all the female cyborgs were lost when a third ship was blown up. They heard a distress call from the colony and is watching, since most humans now distrust cyborgs. He was drawn to Shayla since watching her, and now has determined their need for DNA and an egg sample to recreate females for his men, looking at Shayla for the donation...but you will need to read this intriguing story to see what happens. As the first book in a new series this book sets the scene for the reader very well. We're introduced to the series premise and a host of characters on which to build more books. As such, while this book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, it very definitely paves the way for book 2.
This story is between Freeman and Shayla and makes for a very enjoyable read. While sci-fi is by no means my favourite genre, I liked this story for the characters. There's some great interaction between the two of them with some fun dialogue and snappy lines. I liked Freeman and how he is drawn to Shayla, and I like Shayla's initial refusal to accept him. There were a few little niggling things that kept this book at 4* for me, but I am looking forward to reading the next in the series.

I'm not usually one for sci-fi, but I'm really glad I read this story.

A forgotten research colony of 12 women and 3 men out in space, a ship full of escaped cyborgs just wanting to be treated with respect and one wild plan that seems outrageous.

All this equals one wild ride!

Shayla and Freeman are absolutely fantastic! Shayla is just trying to keep her colony alive, but she's having to do so with basically scotch tape and chewing gum. Freeman is trying to give his fellow cyborgs a fighting chance at life. Together they are unstoppable and off the charts hot.

This'll be an ongoing series so there's a mini cliffhanger but nothing too bad.

Freeman and his fellow cyborgs escaped their creators and slavery. But they need females. They answer a distress call from a remote colony where Shayla is working hard to keep the remaining colonists alive. Free intends to get DNA to create female cyborgs. But there is a kink in their plan- Shayla is a strong, independent woman and their interactions create a great story.. Add plot twists, attraction, drama and steam- it all drives them to a HEA? We'll have to see what our authors dream up in their next great read in this series.

Free and shayla

When on found this cyborg series on KU, I was excited. I haven’t read a decent one in years since Eve Langlais and Laurann Dohnner.
I was kinda disappointed here. It’s slow. It drags on and on. It didn’t help that the kinks used are spanking and Daddy. Neither of which float my boat so I skimmed over quite a few areas.
The book gets really good in the last 20% and the lead up for book 2, but I’m not sure I want to repeat all the same kinks I’m sure will be repeated.
This is the kind of book that should have a kink listing in the blurb. I’m not triggered by them, but others are and I still don’t want to read them if I know before I get the book.

A fantastic story, full of action! This book grabbed my attention right from the beginning with its engaging storyline and compelling characters. I've never read these authors before, so I wasn't sure of what I was in for, but I liked it so much I stayed up till 3 am on a work night! There is a lot of stuff going on, so you have to be ready for the twists. The cyborgs are interesting and the human settlement people should have been more desperate for help than they came off as. I wish the next book was ready to read now if just to resolve my lingering questions!

Excellent story! Shayla and the rest of the humans on Walker Colony have been abandoned and their supplies are running low. The cyborgs on the ship Defiance need women or, at least, their DNA for the cyborgs to ensure their race survives with the needed female cyborgs. Will a swap work - DNA for supplies? The problem is the cyborg males want the females for more than their DNA. The captain of the cyborgs named Freeman can't resist Shayla. This story has steamy romance, desire, suspense, danger and wonderful characters. On to the next book in this series.

Taken

Having survived the Liberation of Cyborgs I’ve come to the conclusion that we need females urgently in order to survive as a species. As a planet comes into view we find only 13 females and 3 males. This won’t due as we need hundreds of women.
The leader of the group was taken from the planet and her eggs will be harvested, however falling in love with the cyborgs leader has changed a few things. Will they be together or will we be destroyed? Recommend this book.
