Sucker for Love Mysteries #3

Head Over Tentacles

Rate this book
Private investigator Sloane Beaumont should be enjoying his recent engagement to eldritch god Azaethoth the Lesser, AKA Loch. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have time for a pre-honeymoon period.

The trouble starts with a deceptively simple missing persons case. That leads to the discovery of mass kidnappings, nefarious secret experiments, and the revelation that another ancient god is trying to bring about the end of the world by twisting humans into an evil army.

Just another day at the office.

Sloane does his best to juggle wedding planning, stopping his fiancé from turning the mailman inside out, and meeting his future godly in-laws while working the case, but they're also being hunted by a strange young man with incredible abilities. With the wedding date looming closer, Sloane and Loch must combine their powers to discover the truth—because it’s not just their own happy-ever-after at stake, but the fate of the world….

“I am making an honest man out of Sloane,” Loch said proudly. “After all of these months of raw, undiluted, primal passion, we are going to formally commit to one another.”

More gods are plottin to wake up the big bad daddy god to destroy the world.
Can Sloane and Loch stop them before their wedding??

The ending was such a fun surprise 🥺
I'm thinking of buying the rest of the series in paperback. I really don't want to wait a whole 2 months for the 2nd edition release. I'm hooked! It's unserious but entertaining; everyone on the page is likable and goofy... PLUS tentacles!
I can't wait for Alexander and Rotas's book. I just know it's going to be sad.

“You’re so beautiful when you’re full of my seed, my love,” Loch soothed. “I love watching it gush out of you.”

While not my favourite of the 3, it is still fantastic.
Bringing together all the threats from books 1 and 2, Loch and Sloane have to protect Jay and find out where all the Silenced have been taken.
I have a few theories but this series really keeps me guessing. Often there's no predicting what will happen.
Loch and Sloane are couple goals, they really are adorable and they share more than a few steamy scenes.

So we continue on this mystery of tentacles and gods and a lot of sexytimes.

Spoilers will be ahead

Ok so in this one Sloan and Loch the god are back. I was so confused with book 2 as they were not in it, but this series did need the worldbuilding that book 2 had. I am upset that the mcs and Kunst were not in this one, though.

The world is again ending and again it's another god doing it of course. This ties into book two as this is the god that stole the bones from the Asra. Speaking of, I love the backstreet boys following kitty. Please give them their own book. Jay deserves happiness.

So like the others, there is a heck of a lot of tentacle sex with bits of the world ending in between. We meet the poor Alexander and the god he loves and they broke my heart at the end after what Sloan lets them do.

I have looked at the series and I know their book is coming up.

The next book is one not about the PI and god, so I guess that whole getting Sloan pregnant without his knowledge baby will not appear until the book after that.

And I don't know if this needs to be said, but god or no, getting anyone preggers without consent is not cool.

This was already my new favorite universe with book 1, and it was a blast meeting some new main characters for book 2, but a return to Loch and Sloane for book 3 was a great way to tie in some of the details from the previous book to further the larger plot into something truly cosmic. Nothing beats the cosmic sparks that fly between Loch and Sloane though. A little tentacle lovin' makes every sensual encounter they have scorching, and their chemistry is the sweetest, funniest, most engaging thing, I can never get enough. I feel like I need naughty embroidery sayings of almost everything that leaves Loch's lips! The ante was upped, the romance was just as wonderful, the twists made me laugh out loud, (especially the surprise at the end I won't spoil), and we get to meet even MORE unique new characters that have me excited for where else Hiers will take this world. Highly recommended, and if you haven't read the first two books yet, well, what are you waiting for!

Loch is back and is just as naughty as ever…and it was awesome! Poor Sloane, he’s going to have his hands (and other parts) full for a very, very…VERY long time. I think he’s okay with that.

Sloane has a case to figure out, but of course it winds up being nothing like what he was expecting. There are still those out there who are trying to bring chaos to Earth, and Loch and Sloane wind up smack dab in the middle of things again. Between that, planning a wedding with Loch’s family, and Loch’s insatiable horniness, it makes for another wild ride that had me sneak-reading at work since I didn’t want to put the book down.

A lot of the supporting characters from Acsquidentally in Love are back for this story, plus we get introduced to some great new ones with Alexander and Rota (I REALLY hope these two are getting their own story!). The newcomers are not quite what they seem, and their arrival brings a lot of action and excitement—not to mention a whole other round of feelings for their situation.

This was a great follow-up to the first book, and this story provides resolution for some issues while creating pathways to even more stories for the series. My attention was fully engaged on every page, and I was thoroughly entertained by Loch’s antics and words and Sloane’s attempts at keeping him under some sort of control (an obviously losing battle).

Head Over Tentacles was a 5-star read for me, and I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store in this world. Not just for Alexander and Rota—because we HAVE to know how things turn out for them—but also possibly for a wayward Asra kitty and poor sleepy Jay. One can hope ;-). Note that this story is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

Now up to date. Had to backtrack this one after reading Merrick's story, so all the spoilers. Az is as nuts as ever and Sloane along for the ride. I'm curious about Rota and Alex, that seems like an interesting situation.

And the fun continues-

This is the third book in the series and if you can believe it -
It just keeps getting better
More mystery
Wonderfully fun new characters
An ever-evolving storyline that entertains
Little surprises at every turn
and Tentacles, lots and lots of tentacles

Sloane and Loch never seem to catch a break.
In the last episode, Sloane and Loch discovered that there was a god with nefarious plans who was taking the Silenced and repurposing them (for lack of a better description).
Sloane thought he had things handled and could move on to spending time with his mate and planning their nuptials
If only life was that simple

They have a new case a client seems to have lost his roommate
Sounds easy enough
Add in the mailman, a snoopy detective, a quirky cat
and things quickly spiral out of control

Sloane, you got this never stop believing
Loch you sneaky god you why ask for permission and all that jazz
Milo, you have come so far. I am excited for you Congrats!
Asta, you keep pushing things off the shelf (metaphorical) I think you are on to something
So many great returning characters and wait till you meet the new ones

This is the third book and yes you need to read the first two
If you enjoy light-hearted quirky romances with suspense and mystery and a whole lot of tentacle loving
Do not pass this up
I think I know who's story is next

OMG...this series is a blast. I have so much fun reading due to the hilariousness of Loch and his shenanigans. He keeps Sloan on his toes. I love their relationship/partnership...so HOT and entertaining. This has what a reader wants in a mystery romance...some violence...the case to crack...some steamy sex and bonus...tentacles...What's not to love??

→ A ghost god
→ Family matters that involve, well the world
→ An equal balance of sex and cuddles before running off for an emergency
So first off, please read the first book in this series before proceeding. I don’t wish to give giant spoilers and also this family tree goes deep, go back to the beginning and maybe take notes.
I have never considered myself religious, maybe a little spiritual but I want to hop right into this world to hang out with these hilarious and welcoming gods. Obviously, there are exceptions *sweaty laugh face*

The way these people get in and out of trouble is absolutely amazing, give me some of those tricks Loch! Witnessing the love continue to grow between so many, witness the community that will make you feel like you’re sitting at their dinner table. Even this is only the tip of how enthralled I am with this series, Sucker For Love Mysteries. K.L. Hiers continues to outdo themselves as usual!

I liked going back to Loch and Sloan -- I kinda love how every other book in the series is theirs! -- but somehow this also didn't completely pull me in. I'm still going to read the rest of them, but maybe not right away? Although I'm definitely interested in Merrick and Chase's story, so it might be sooner than anticipated... Oh, btw, quite a few steamy scenes in this one, but most were maybe a little too clinical. That might be why I wasn't as thrilled with this one. On the other hand, Loch's sister and mom are both pretty awesome!

So I adore this author's weird and wonderful mind. I like that their imagination is so out there and I can just enjoy the wild ride! The mythology that they have created is very different from anything that I have read and it's an interesting alternate universe where there's old sleeping gods that are waking up and some have gone coo-coo because of how long they slept (I have my suspicions they made have always been crazy, but they are just way worse now.)

I love the MCs in this one. They are definitely my favorite ones of this series so far. They are goofy but fierce and I love that one, Loch, is a trickster god who adores the other one, Sloane, who is a human but still doesn't always know how to fit in the human society. I think they're humans, at least. I don't remember if they are called something different. I know the planet is called something else by the gods but I am not sure if it's also called Earth.

Anyway, these two are always trying figure out how to save the planet and it's people by trying to keep a faction of gods from remaking the world because they are not happy they aren't being worshipped as much anymore. (Once again, I think that's why but it's hard for me to keep track of all the different names and plot points because they are abstract for me and I have always had a hard time with that. It's why I don't read many sci-fi books because I can't wrap my mind around the concepts. That is not a fault of the book though, that's just me.)

The humor is fun and I was so happy to see the secondary characters have so much personality and add so much to the storyline. Loch's sister and mother were fantastic as were Sloane best friend and his girlfriend.

Oh and there's also the tentacles...gotta love the tentacles
!
I can't wait for the next book in the series! I am hoping that Asta will be as snarky and weird as possible!

So much fun

Reading this book was like sitting down and visiting with old friends. I adore Loch and Sloane so much. This series is an absolutely delight.

Loch, our mischief maker, just wants to marry his mate. Sloane, our level headed PI, just wants to solve the case of the missing neighbor. Along the way, we met old friends and make some new ones. (Reading Kraken My Heart is definitely recommended as there are spoilers here for the case of the missing neighbor) I’m so glad we got some of Asta the Asra in this book too! We also get to meet Alexander and Rota and I could read a whole book all about them alone.

Loch is his usual self up to all of his antics. Reading about his is never boring. Sloane has the hardest time corralling Loch and things are usually at their best when Sloane fails in this task. These two are one of my all time favorite book couples. They are fun, funny, so incredibly sexy and they just absolutely love and adore one another. They are beautifully written characters.

We’ve got action and adventure, a mystery, family, blood related and found, some hella sexy tentacle times, a wedding and an ending that makes you eager for the next book. The was a 100% win for me.

Good gravy! If Loch wasn't enough to make you laugh your head off at his antics, his mother and sister make an appearance and it's even funnier. I am so loving this series.

We have another mystery and if you're into tentacle love, this is it for you. I love it for the mystery and it's so funny. It's also a book to keep you on your toes. There are hard moments that make you want to cry at the decision that had to be made, but as hard as it may hurt, it's for the best.

For Sloane, I really did feel so bad for him. He's been put in an awkward situation again in trying to find out why certain people are disappearing. And when he finds out, with the help of others, he dreads what he might have to do. And I hate that that decision is always stuck in his hand. Unfortunately, it comes with being blessed by gods, but it still sucks.

I have to say I love Loch's mom and sister, though. And don't ask me to try to spell their names lol. Even with all that's riding on Sloane's shoulders, they don't blame him or hold it against him at what he's had and having to do. And that's a huge thing.

There's so much in this book that makes it so lovable. I can't tell them all because... hey, spoilers. But it's worth the read. I've had so much fun with this series. And I can't wait to see book 3.

This series just gets better and better. This time we had Sloan and Loch deep in another threat to the world, again because of a power hungry god. They investigated the disappearance of what seemed like hundreds of people all over the world and they found themselves the first in the line of danger. But, when they obviously couldn't handle things by themselves or with the help of their friends, they asked for assistance from Loch's/Azaethoth godly family ...and the book became immensely entertaining.

I laughed so much throughout Head Over Tentacles that my stomach ached and my face hurt. Loch stole the show many times just by being his outrageously filterless self and with his exaggerations, and Sloane was adorable trying to rein in his fiance. Also, their friends and family had a huge part in the funniness of the book with their ludicrous banter and interactions.

I loved the story for its overall hilarious sense and for how incredibly sweet and hot Sloan and Loch were together, but the mystery was greatly paced and intriguing as well, and kept me glued to the pages.

And I love that this is obviously not the last book in this series. I adore the world and characters the author has created and I can't wait for more.

This is the third book in a series and if you haven’t read the first two, what are you waiting for? Do that— they’re fabulous. This book is also fabulous, as it brings exactly the blend of adventure, mystery, snark, and heat that characterizes the earlier novels, and is, dare I say, even better. It’s great to see Loch and Sloane again, and while a tiny part of me sympathizes that they don’t get a few quiet moments to plan their wedding in peace, a much larger part of me is delighted to see them knee deep (tentacle deep?) in trouble once again, if only because 1) they’re good (and hilarious) at getting out of it and 2) the overall larger plot of the series just gets even more compelling and I’m really enjoying watching it unfold. I love both these characters so much, although Loch is the most adorably frustrating (frustratingly adorable?) romantic partner/ ridiculously powerful entity that’s ever been, so he gets extra points. Well worth a read!

Sloane and Loch are back at it again. In a much better addition to the series than the last book, but not quite as strong as the first book, this story takes the pair on an adventure to save several Silenced characters from an unknown evil force bent on destroying the world.
This book was a lot more chaotic and irreverent toward the beginning that got boring quickly. But it eventually shaped up and then the ending felt too fast, but at least was fun to read.
I liked getting introduced to new characters ie Loch's sister and mom and several other relatives much later in the book. I really enjoy learning more about the different types of people who are devout enough to become vessels to the gods.
I also liked the continuation of the romance between Sloane and Loch including the highly surprising double pregnancy announcements toward the end of the book! I look forward to reading the next book with the drama surrounding the illegality of ghouls and the detectives chasing down leads.

We’re back with Sloane and Loch for book 3 of this series.

This is the flip side of book 2. In book 2, you got to see what happened to Ted when he was sent to another world and needed to clear his name after being accused of murder. Now we get to see what happened here when that was all going down.
It looks like another one of tentacled brothers is out to destroy the world and Loch/Sloane must save the day. Again. There are appearances by Loch’s sister and mother. And Jay’s Asran guardian pops in a time or two. You also get to meet a pair that has a later book dedicated to their relationship Alexander/Rora.
It was fun and fast paced. The story was just intriguing enough to maintain interest without needing to think too hard about it.

Total DNF because the vibes flipped and were all the way off, and I was gonna wait and try again, but there’s so much I wanna read, and my TBR is gagging on similar content that I can try or pick back up that I enjoy more, and it’s not fair to stick a sticky note in this one and let it languish when I know I won’t come back for a myriad of reasons. That’s just rude. Kinda like giant sentences. I feel like I should’ve paused for breath in my head before it all came out like that. My b. Respectfully, it stopped being for me, and that’s not anything other than a me problem. You gotta make the choice for yourselves on this one bc I don’t feel like asking the homies to check my brain over it.

Third book answers some questions, but raises even more. At least it's apparent now that the series is intended to be longer than a trilogy. The story appears to be happening concurrently with the second book but feels much faster. While there are less F-bombs, there are still quite a few. The level of humor is the same except Loch seems more like a pouting child who's mother (Sloane) has scolded him, which I guess is what married humor looks like? About as much sexy times as actual plot in this volume, and I wish it had been more of a 15-85 split.

We are back with Loch and Sloane, who are just as adorable as ever, and the rest of the Scooby gang. We get to find out what was happening in the "real" world while Ted was with the Asra. This is not a stand alone book. You need to read the first 2 to get the most out of it.
More bad gods doing bad things and some new allies. I am hoping Asta is one of the ones to find is love soon... I have such a soft spot for bad guys who go all mushy in love.

Love these books!

This series keeps getting better and better! Loch and Sloan are still madly in love but Sloan seems to use the majority of his energy coralling Loch in from whatever crazy thing he's gotten his mind set onto doing! I absolutely love the humor interspersed into the book, and the introduction of the other gods was fantastic!

Some questions were answered from book 2, more questions hopefully will be answered in the coming books, and some connections were made between some characters previously introduced (I hope my predictions are right!)

This series is really adorable. Sloane meets his Elder God in-laws, who are loving and magical. The ones who aren't trying to kill him, that is. Some major plot points of the mystery were not resolved. The book ended sweetly but abruptly with Sloane and Loch's wedding.

I don’t usually like follow-up books, especially not within a series that follows more than one couple, but this was fun and ended with a happy little twist… because gods… so anything goes.

Also…uggg….mpreg… just where is this young god-spawn supposedly rearing? His large intestine? And he just keeps digesting like normal? That alone loses the 3rd star.
