Away from Harm is the first book in an EMP survival series with realistic characters who are forced into an extraordinary situation. It's a story of survival, resilience and second chances.
Emma knew that leaving her increasingly dangerous husband would be the hardest thing she's ever done. She'd wait for him to leave for work, then pack her and her daughter's things and drive to the women's shelter where they'd finally be safe from him.
What she didn't expect, was that an electromagnetic pulse would take out all the power in the city on that very morning. Cars come crashing to a halt in the streets, including his, and electronics stop working. As she's packing their suitcases, he's on his way back home, and she's now going to face a bigger challenge than she ever imagined.
Darcy is thinking about ending it all. He stands on the rooftop of his apartment building, devastated after his girlfriend dumped him for another man. Distraught and alone, he tempts fate on the rooftop's edge.
Just as he thinks about jumping, an EMP causes a plane to fall out of the sky, creating carnage in the streets below. Darcy rushes to help the survivors - the moment a waking call that there are still things worth saving in life. However, despite his newfound will to live, staying alive as chaos erupts around him may just be harder than he thought.
Darcy and Emma will have to draw on strength they didn't know they had if they want to survive.

Enjoyable.
A very good enjoyable read. It has a great pace and with plenty of goings-on. The characters were a bit of a mixed bunch some likeable and one very unlikeable. Good enough to finish the book.
