I was recommended to read this by a friend of mine. I picked it up in audiobook and listened to it while driving and cleaning the house, amongst other things.

I fell in love with these ladies and their stories, and I just wanted to sit on the porch and sip a cup of tea while listening to everything single detail about them.

I didn't want to skip a single part because everything about them was endearing to me.

Their lives, what they gained, what they lost, everything about them I felt like was a part of me.

This book made me feel like deep down in the pits of my heart, which was lost forever but regained again.

Is it weird that I want to read it repeatedly (oops, listen)?

Can I now go and find more books by the author and become an instant fan because of this book? Is this what GREAT literature is?

Wow, Bravo and congratulations because only one other author has made me want to read everything they put to paper.

So, I read this book back when it first came out in 2001. I really enjoyed it and saw that there were two others made after this one, so I decided - Two decades later - to give it another go. Well, I guess 25 year old Alicia and 45 year old Alicia have different ideas about what is "really good". It was pretty sexist and I hates the way 40 year olds are portrayed as being old - I was a bit offended by that. Of course when I was 25, 40 WAS old! There is a part in the book where a woman is clearly raped by today's standards, but some how it was her fault. (Ew.) Anyway, would I say never read it? No, I wouldn't. Would I tell you to expect a masterpiece? No, I wouldn't. It's a light summer read that in general is entertaining and I shamelessly will read the other two.

Three best friends go on a vacation together, where they can go back and change their lives. Madam Zoya can send them each back to any time in their pasts that they choose for three weeks. Then they will return and they can keep their lives as they are now, or go on go on with the neww lives they have made. They can return to any age and have the same life knowledge that they have now, and choose to remember or forget the past as it is now. A really great book. I loved it, but I haven't read a book of hers that I didn't like.
