Vigbert keeps getting in trouble for breaking the rules. Austin tells him every time he questions why he can't something, "It's the rules." Vigbert does not like it but then Austin explains why the rules exist.
I enjoyed this story. Poor Vigbert wants to go back to his own home, but he cannot. He has to adjust to a new world with rules he evidently did not have at home. I liked that the rules were each taken individually and explained as to why it is important to follow that rule. I also liked that Austin explained that adults also have to follow rules. This story is a good reminder for us all and not just your little ones. It gave my pause as I think about what is happening every day and why rules are important

Children and rules
I liked how the book explains why following rules is important and bringing in the frustration of following rules do for kids. I also enjoyed the pictures; as they were linking to the story line to help kids make sense of it all. Grab this book if you want to teach your child about rules!

This cute book teaches children the importance of following rules. It shows how they keep them safe and keeps chaos out of the way. Michael Gordon has chosen rules that all children must follow and given the important reason for doing so.
