This was a wildly anticipated edition in the series, due to the fact that it centered around a person related to the namesake of the company, but I wasn't entirely sure of the appeal at the time I went into reading this...and by the end, I wasn't sure it lived up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, this is a wonderfully romantic story, and if you only look at it within that framework, it is an immensely satisfying read. However, looking at this book through the larger series lens, it lacks something when compared to the other novels in the series. It felt to me like there was barely any suspense in the story, and what was there felt disjointed and not matching up with each other. Granted, it all dovetailed together in the end, but I was often frustrated by the seeming lack of movement on the suspense front.
Setting that aside, I adored Brix and Liv's love story!! It was amazing to see it blossom over the years, and then flower into the relationship that they deserved with each other. It felt like a second chance, high school sweethearts, redemptive romance all rolled into one and sprinkled into a world that we readers have gotten to know very well over the course of the series. While this was a slight disappointment to me, it was a very entertaining read overall, and a definite asset to the series at large!
