But In The End, You Just Have To Let Go

Rate this book
It is okay if you do not have the words right now to express what you feel. It is okay if you don't even know what it is you are feeling. It is okay if you don't know where to begin. If you don't know if a chapter in your life has ended. It is okay if you are not sure about your future. Not sure about your past. About what you were thinking. It is okay if you suddenly fell out of love with someone. And especially if you did not want that to happen but it did. It is okay if you don't know how to apologize. If you are not sure if you even have to. It is okay if you wish to move on. Or even if you wish to stay where you are a little longer than expected. It is okay to cry. I mean to wake up and really cry. And or to fall asleep crying. It is okay to wish you could change things. To wish you could go back and make all the bad things right. It is okay if you are not happy with who you are. At least not for the time being. It is okay to work on yourself. To take as much time as you need until you feel comfortable in your skin. It is okay if you don't feel the same. Don't feel the same about certain things. Like your career aspirations. Certain people. Certain places. Certain things that used to speak to you. It is okay to move away. To find new homes within new people. To find what you love in new places. It is okay. This is your life. And only yours. And life is too short to worry about everything. To overthink about all the details. Because it's okay. And it's going to be okay. Just be yourself. Just take your time. Everything will be okay.

R.M. Drake’s works have been very enjoyable to me for quite some time. I must say though, I’m a little disappointed with this book. I’ve followed this author for quite some time on social media and have always connected with the content. That’s not to say I didn’t “connect” with this work, however I’m used to reading their poems as a paragraph format, and in the book, a single paragraph poem from social media was extended on individual lines over, sometimes, four or five pages. This left the work feeling disjointed. I’m a little skeptical now about purchasing more works, as I do have another book from them that was less scattered, but I have almost 10 other titles by them on my to-be-read list.

The content for the most part doesn't match the title. I probably wouldn't have purchased this book had I known that ahead of time. The poetry is beautiful, I just didn't expect love poems that don't fit the theme of the title.

I felt like if I wrote this book for myself. It is very personal. It felt like a series of advises and kind words to letting me feel vulnerable and cry for all the things I haven't cried, knowing that is ok to do it... To take everything it's left and move on.

I've read it a while ago, but is a good reminder to Why you should let go, would recommend to read in the first day of a breakup or divorce or whatever you're going through.
