"In Shiloh Springs, Kathy Ivan has crafted warm, engaging characters that will steal your heart and a mystery that will keep you reading to the very last page." Barb Han, USA TODAY and Publisher's Weekly Bestselling Author
USA TODAY Bestselling author Kathy Ivan can’t remember a time when books and reading weren’t a part of my daily life. I was blessed with a mother who instilled the love of reading in me at a young age. That progressed into a passion for the written word in all forms, which led to my writing. Every day I have new stories and new ideas roaming through my brain, the characters chomping at the bit for their turn to be front and center and have their story told. Today that love of storytelling translates into my desire to write and share my stories with others. I write in many genres, but I’m currently concentrating on romantic suspense and paranormal.
My day job is about as uncreative as it gets. I do medical transcription, spending numerous hours at the computer each day trying to decipher the mumbled, garbled and often unrecognizable words the physicians are dictating, in an effort to make a complete and comprehensive patient record. It’s almost as bad as trying to read their handwriting!
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I’ve lived in various places throughout my youth, from California to Hawaii and back to Florida (Key West), before finally settling in Texas. I make my home outside Dallas, Texas with my spoiled black lab (Missy).
I am a member of Romance Writers of American and the Dallas Area Romance Authors (DARA), where I’m an active member; you can find me at the local meetings each month.
That’s about it off the top of my head. I love talking with other readers and writers, so feel free to contact me.
Brian is the 12th installment in Kathy Ivan’s Texas Boudreau Brotherhood series. In it she continues the saga of the Boudreau family with the romantic journey of Harper Westbrook and Brian McKenna. Harper is a beautiful blonde artist who is trying to create a new life far away from her evil family. Brian is one of Douglas and Ms. Patti’s lost boys. He was a foster child who stood with the Boudreaus for a while. Like the other boys who lived with them, Brian works in law enforcement. He is an FBI agent. Harper is a person of interest in a serial murderer case. Brian solicits hep from another lost boy, Gage Newcomb, who works for the CIA. In attempt to clear Harper. Will they be able to find the person framing Harper? Will Harper and Brian find happiness? How will the Boudreau clan react when they learn about the situation Harper is in? You must read this book to find out.
Yet again, Ms. Ivan has outdone herself in this character-driven romantic plot. I enjoy her skill in creating complex characters. Readers witness their dreams, strengths, and vulnerabilities. She allows readers to journey along with her characters as they work out their fears and challenges. I am fascinated by how Ms. Ivan includes different brothers into her plot. Doing so allows readers to get to know each of the Boudreau brothers and the lost boys as well; and to appreciate this tight knit, open, and supportive family. Nicely done, Ms. Ivan.
....and another 'Boudreau Daughter' is claimed. I really like Harper, she is so sweet but so very strong, that she has risen above her vile upbringing to become the loving and capable woman she is is nothing short of a miracle. I am glad that the Boudreau family don't hesitate in claiming Brian as one of them, returning to Shiloh Springs and the Boudreau Ranch, he finally feels as if he is returning home, he feels safe and welcome. The Boudreau's welcome us back as only they can and as their open arms close around you, you feel like you too have returned home. We know they will do everything they can to protect Harper as Miss Patti has claimed her as one of 'her girls' but they also have Brian's back too, something neither one has ever had before.
Brian: WOW! Excellent story! Loved hearing about the whole family and meeting one of the lost boys! Brian always cared for the Boudreau family. Even after he life and grew up he missed the love that Douglas and Miss Patti had for all the boys that they fostered. Some stayed others didn't. When Brian got into the FUN he always kept an eye on the family that cared the most. He was also cover a Case of the record. It led him back home and tons very striking woman. It was an amazing story! I really enjoyed it.
I've waited for this book forever and it did not disappoint. The bond Brian has to the Boudreau's makes your heart ache. Seriously. Unfortunately, his tragic childhood is only out done by Harper's horror show of "family". It is fate that has brought these two souls together...well that and a few murders. The wagons are starting to circle.
Loving the Boudreaux series and the way Kathy Ivan pulls us back into an amazing family. Miss Patti is a main character in every book. This story about Brian kept me reading every spare minute until the thrilling end. This story is unpredictable and a joy to read.
Brian is sure that he’s not following a murderer but the proof is showing the opposite until he sits down with Harper and sorts it out. He gets the girl of course!
I really love this series. I think Kathy Ivan writes a great novel. And keeps giving a unique setup for each book even though it’s the same series. And we know there are a few more to go😁. I will be sad when this series is over!
Love this whole series, each book that is read pulls you deeper into the family circle. The stories are woven that keeps you intrigued till the end. Waiting for the next instalment.
Once again the editing in this book is terrible. Words or misspelled…leg was used instead of let (as an example). It makes it hard to read or follow along.
Brian is a FBI agent. He is also one of the "lost boys." Harper is working hard on becoming an artist. She also works part time at an insurance firm. Brian is working a case off the books. Heath has caught him so he has to tell him. He is watching Harper. There is evidence against her but he doesn't believe it. Now to prove it.
absolutely love this series and have no reason to change my mind after this book. So great to have a lost boy come home to the Boudreaus. Great ending and can not wait for Joshuas book.
