Okay, so I gave up halfway through the chapter on the mating habits of arachnids. But a fun read for people who are really really into the minutiae of animal reproduction (at least as it was understood in 1965).
From my father's collection. Comprehensive look at the drive to reproduce, from one-celled animals through mammals. The sections on insects and fish are especially interesting.
Despite showing its age, this book is an excellent entry point into evolution through the lens of sexual reproduction. It also serves as an interesting cultural time capsule.
