Hank Quense tells you how to create your story. He believes that stories come from the melding of three getting ideas, story design and story-telling. Ideas have to come from the author. Infographic Guide to Creating Stories concentrates on the last two.

The book concentrates on developing characters including such rarely discussed requirements such as a dominant reader emotion and the character's biography.

Plots are also covered in depth and a number of graphics are included to illustrate complex points. Another topic discusses subplots and how to utilize them and how to nest them within the main plot.

A separate chapter discusses the relationship between the plot and the emotional arcs.

Other topics covered character arcs, scene design, point-of-view, writing voice and more.

Ignore the “look” & the content alone saves it

There is an insane amount of useful info packed into this book. It’s poorly designed visually with lots of contradictory formatting and layout issues, but the content itself is solid… equivalent to a several college-level writing classes all jammed into one concise spot with lots of great examples.

The effort to make the ”infographics” is there. The contents is on a level with how to sharpen your pencil, or ”should you use #1 or #2 pencil to write an adventure novel”. A waste of time.

The graphics would make this better for print. I was useless as a Kindle book for me.
