Leo and Gracie are back again, but their hearts have been broken by previous relationships and that's keeping them apart. Even though their podcast, “It's All About Love,” is successful, they can’t seem to take their own advice while others around them find love and happiness. Can they forget the past and let love take its course or will they never allow themselves to be happy again? Is the timing right this time or will they miss the boat?

Sweet and Hopeful Some people never get a second chance for love, but this book is all about a few couples who are getting just that, a second chance. Sometimes hearts get broken, sometimes we make arrangements out of convenience or necessity, but when the time comes to heal and move on, you never know what may come around the corner for you. This second installment of the Warrington Legacy series gives us more insight to Gracie and Leo, Sam, Francine and Lilly, Julianna and her troubles, and more! The family is growing and evolving and I can't wait to see where it all goes for each of them.
Before I started this review, I read that Author Cook hosts and produces podcasts, and that made sense after reading this fun book! Character leads Leo and Gracie have their own podcast in this story, and it was done very well, clearly from experience. I also took note of how Author Cook wrote in the beginning of the blurb "If you like soap operas you'll enjoy this book. There are several characters that might feel familiar to you because we all have them in our families. The more the merrier." While I haven't watched them since I was a teenager, I think this statement is pretty accurate. There is a lot of drama in this story.
The book is written in more of a third person omniscient, also known as "God's point of view," and it isn't my favorite. As the reader, you know what's going on in everyone's head and the "head" changes every few paragraphs. It does take some getting used to. It isn't wrong by any means, and its actually written well, including the dialogue. This is personal preference, and when you're a huge reader and haven't read this POV in many years...its just a bit jarring. Again, not the author's issue. It's mine.
I loved the sisterly bond between Gracie and Julianna. I have not read book one, so there was some of the story I was missing, but I never felt that the missing story wss vital to my enjoyment of "Second Chances." Author Cook dropped small info here and there that helped enough. The only thing I did want to know more about was Julianna's life before she came home, but that just made me eager to read book one.
Leo was so sweet! You want to root for him after what he went through. He was always there in the background and was so ready to be in the forefront of Gracie's life this time. There were roadblocks, but I liked how Author Cook kept the theme of the book going through all the characters, but without being cliche. I really enjoyed the book, however I thought the ending was rushed. I was surprised by how it ended and there is another book coming. Is the ending bad? Absolutely not. In my humble opinion, I was waiting for just a little bit more closure. But I was happy to read the brief blurb on the next book coming. Nothing like my family soap opera drama, but I do have twin cousins who are fighting over the same guy...🤷
Second Chances is the second book in the Warrington Legacy saga. I would consider this book in the romance genre, however, since it does not have the typical drama prose, I wouldn't categorize it in the romantic drama section. I prefer romantic book this way because in my case, dramatic writing makes books a little harder to read.
Gracie can't seem to find true love. In the past, she has had her heart broken too many times, but now she might have a second chance to love and change her life forever, once and for all.
The mysterious man is Leo, a handsome young widower, who is invited all the time to do the Warrington family podcast with Gracie. It turns out that both of them had kissed before, but nothing further has happened since then, more than a few love stares between them. Gracie definitely likes Leo, but she doesn't know if he can trust him, love-wise. Has Gracie finally found true love, or will Leo be just another heartbreak?
The book is mainly about giving true love a second chance, not only with regard to Gracie and Leo, but of her parents, Francine and Sam, and Gracie's sister Julianne. Giving up the up's and down's of giving a chance to love. We also see that the characters have changed, or growth per se. From the perspective of Gracie, she is no longer the naive and ignorant girl desperate for love, she now enjoys her life and won't trust a man's love too easily.
The book in all was really light-headed and enjoyable to read. I love that we see second chances in all characters and parts of the book, and it's nice to see that from the reader's perspective. I also believe that if you enjoy a romantic story, or are interested in diving into this particular genre, this short book is ideal for you
Second Chances is the 2nd installment of the Warrington Legacy series. It is not a standalone and it's a continuation of Gracie and Leo's relationship arc. Gracie and Leo originally met on a plane bound for Paris. He helped her through a bumpy ride and then they went their separate ways. Leo met the love of his life and married her, while Gracie had a horrible boyfriend when she found out he was married! Through happenstance, they meet again and it takes a while to figure out their connection and, when they do, they have to come to terms with their feelings about love. The only thing that bothered me was the push and pull and the ultimate decision by Leo not to marry again. He wants to stay faithful to the memory of his dead wife. To be continued...... The narration is very well done by Tom Lennon. He is able to infuse each voice with a unique personality and attitude.
In 'Second Chances' by Marsha Casper Cook, I not only found a nice, well-written novel but also a beautiful message. This story is about Leo and Gracie. They are together again, but they have suffered a lot due to previous relationships and that's a problem. All along the narrative, I found myself immersed in the plot. This is the result of a great job done by the author as regards descriptions. She wrote such good descriptions for each scene that I felt part of them. I liked her writing style very much. When I finished the book, I also felt I was left a nice message. When second chances appear, take them.
“Second Chances” by Marsha Casper Cook is a stunning love and romantic novel full of triggering and moving feelings that will take you through the emotional world of two people that were hurt by life. Gracie and Leo have both been through a lot in their past few years of life and have suffered from many hardships. But maybe they can turn their life stories into happier ones if they work together as a team. But this task seems to be harder than expected. Will it be possible for them to love, trust and be happy again? So many questions you will find the answer to, if you read this book.
Marsha Casper Cook is the writer behind “Second Chances”, which is the second book in the Warrington Legacy series and a novel that is really entertaining and the topics are current, such as podcasts. This reading shows that we may have what we want close to us but we may not be able to see it. Romance, a good plot and entertaining characters are some of the good points of this novel. If I have to make a slight criticism I would say that I found the middle a bit slow but then reaching the end the story was completely entertaining again. I would recommend reading it. The author has a nice narrative that is engaging and easy to follow.
A story about second chances in love and romance but also a book about so much more as its a book about people in the Warington family and their relationships. The main story is about Leo and about Gracie and their journeys to finding a second chance for love and happiness. There is also side stories that involve second chances for other characters in the story that revolves around the Warrington family. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters again, learning more about their lives, and was very happy with how things turned out at the end of this book; especially for Leo and Gracie. (this is the 2nd book in the series). Very well written and interesting characters.
The book's entire focus is about second chances; we as humans don't often have the luxury of getting a second chance. But if we ever do get one, this book describes perfectly how it would play out. We follow two adults, both who've been hurt before, Leo and Gracie. They've found themselves attracted to one another but decide not to do anything about it in the best interest of their friendship. The writer beautifully follows up with the second installment of the Warrington Legacy series and allows us to see all the different characters blossom and grow into the versions they're supposed to be.
I enjoyed returning to the Warrington saga. The characters are still engaging and this book fills in some of the gaps from the first book. The setting and the premise is familiar because it links into the first book but some of the scenes are from an alternative viewpoint or moments not seen in the first book. I enjoyed reading this book and I’m looking forward to reading the third book to see what else will happen to the characters.
Even after losing a loved one or after a split there is a new beginning. Gracie and Leo definitely have some twist and bumps along the way of finding love again. Just like Samuel after his wife basically abandoned him and the girls. He still makes it back to his first love. Can these characters find their happy ending? Definitely a sweet gentle romance.
This is the second book in the Warrington series. We reunite with Leo, Gracie, and their families. This is a beautiful story that shows second chances can happen, and a few couples in this story get that. I'm definitely curious to see what happens next to these characters and look forward to finding out.
This book it overflowing with second chances. There is both heartbreak and healing in this story. I love the continuation of Leo and Gracie's show, and seeing their friendship grow. The second chances that took place were not what I originally anticipated, but I am so happy they happened! I'm excitedly hurrying off to the next story!
I enjoyed this charming second in series story about two generations of second chance romances. The characters are well developed and complex and the story is interesting and believable in spite of it's tangled relationships. A good, quick read.
This was such a good story. A second chance at life and love as we get to experience everything with great clarity and their strength from the past and the now. I love the podcasts great addition to the story.
