Meeting a drop-dead gorgeous man, who falls onto a knee the first time they meet, sounded too good to be true for Ava. Of course, with her luck, he had to be an alien. Thrust into an unknown alien world, meeting weird and scary creatures, and fearing for her life, Ava tries to survive as best as a hairstylist can.

Kanzo never expected to find a life mate, a Dar Eth. Since he was young, he was taught that pairings were rare with fewer females born. The statistics on finding his Dar Eth would be slim to none. Instead of dreaming and longing for companionship, he focused on being the best male possible, to end his life on a battlefield with honor. But when he experiences the Ethera—the life mate force, and is blessed with his female, he isn’t prepared for the level of pain, pleasure, and need she invokes within him.

Unable to save her as she’s teleported from him, the dark consuming pain in his chest drives him into a blinding rage. With no idea who stole her or where to begin the search, he will scour the known universe to find her, to hold the female he never wanted.

Kanzo and Ava

Kanzo and Ava bring a powerful warrior-mate dynamic. The moment Kanzo recognizes Ava as his Dar Eth the Ettera hits—an intense mix of pain and pleasure that drives him to his knee. It’s not weakness, but instinct, and it makes their bond feel raw, consuming, and inevitable. A strong pick for fated mates with a fierce edge.
Kanzo’s character was right on point—his naivety about the Ettera bonding process added depth and helped balance things out. Ava, on the other hand, felt frustrating at times, and her hot-and-cold behaviour became a bit tiresome and dragged parts of the story, and I still can’t understand why her life before the orphanage wasn’t explored more—especially the other girl she was with. That context could’ve helped explain her ‘find her happy place’ scenes.
Overall, I still enjoyed the read—and since each book keeps getting better, I’m definitely onto the next one.

More great tales of hot males and the strong women to who take pity on them and take them in.

I was captured by the series and couldn’t wait to read Ava and Kenzo’s story. Again I loved how this story was a whole new arc in the series, even though much of the timeline overlaps with the previous book. Even though Ava was self deprecating, she had integrity and strength as her story moved forward. I am really enjoying this series, the books are compelling and I am breezing through them and looking for more.
