My youth used this journal for our winter retreat intensive study on the gospel. Personally going through this and taking them through this was awesome! I had some youth come up to me and we talked about things in this journal they learned. Parents came up to a week later saying that the kids were still talking about the intensive study. A great resource to remind and to go deeper in the gospel.

This is another excellent Prayer Journal by Erika Allen. The six weeks are split into six different doctrines of the gospel: atonement, regeneration, justification, grace, adoption, and resurrection. Each week focuses on a scripture passage relevant to that doctrine; each day there is a teaching section and then prayer prompts. I felt that through this Prayer Journal, I was able to grow in my understanding of God's goodness to us and be more and more thankful for all he has done for us through His Son.

This is such a beautifully-designed journal, and it really did help me to be intentional with praying every day. However, because you focus on one short Bible passage for five days at a time, the devotional content was very short and not very meaty. I would prefer something with a little more substance to it, but I think this would be great to give to a new believer! It would help them to better understand the gospel and train them to daily pray and read God’s Word.

I really like this book, I read it in 2 months rather than 1, combining it with another of my favourites by Jen Pollock Michelle. It was clear, simple and give you time to reflect on the basic and absolutely amazing truth of the Gospel. I have now bought another copy for a friend. It is a good read for older christians and young christians alike.

I loved that I got back into journaling my prayers through this book. The commentary does seem to lean towards the reformed tradition, but overall, I loved this book!
