After a relatively easy mat-trans jump, Ryan and his companions find themselves in the company of Dr. Silas Jamaisvous, a seemingly pleasant host who appears to understand the mat-trans systems extremely well. Seeing signs that local inhabitants have been used as guinea pigs for the scientist's ruthless experiments, the group realizes that they have to stop this line of research before it goes too far.
Violent, future time’-travel Novel. part of 100 plus book series.
The original guilty pleasure SF series is raw, violent, bloodthirsty and kind of compulsively readable. 100 years after a nuclerar war a band of surviors roam the Deathlands, a nightmare version of what’s left of America. Murder, torture, rapinee and robbery are an everyday event among the isolated towns still existing, with governance provided and precarious safety offered by local warlords, yeah, it’t the old west with future accoutrements. The first 35 to 40 of the series are written by one guy using the house pen name of James Axler and he is actually a decent writer within the confines of the genre. After that it’s hit and miss as various authors ta a crack at things. Purely considered by itself this rather slow moving and turgid for the series. I think these are considered “men’s books” like romances are for women. The whole concept of gender based novels is due for a study on its own.
