Christmas in the City #3

Tinsel Temptation

Rate this book
Olivia Hanmer is a typically wholesome, all-American girl: an A student, a star athlete, a daddy's girl. Whenever she wants something, she goes after it and gets it, and this Christmas, she wants Noah Stamer. They've known each other since they were kids, but now she's all grown up and determined to prove it to him.

Noah Stamer has always led a charmed life, but there's more to him than meets the eye, especially when it comes to what turns him on. Someone as sweet and innocent as Olivia Hanmer could never understand those kinds of needs, so when he pushes her away, it's for her own good.

One year later, when they find themselves together again at Christmas time on the other side of the world, it's possible they'll turn out to have more in common than they ever imagined.

This book contains sexual scenes involving voyeur/exhibitionist kink. It is unsuitable for readers under the age of 18.

If you're looking for sweet and steamy romance, you've come to the right place! I started reading romance novels in my early teens and writing them soon afterwards; growing up in small towns in western Canada, there wasn't much else to do! Luckily, those early stories have never seen the light of day.

Now, I live in the UK with my husband and daughter and spend my free time diving into magical or just romantic settings where true love (almost) always wins.

***ARC Review***

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed the story of Olivia and Noah. While the plot does have a slight Hallmark movie type of feel, I was especially impressed with the level of kink throughout the story and the spicy scenes were expertly written. I have read my fair share of romance and smut and can say that this story depicts the sex club scene and various kinks in a realistic and respectful way. It also wasn’t just your typical smutty sex scenes (the skit at the end with the bears literally made me laugh out loud).

There were also a couple of unexpected plot twists which I appreciated. Overall it was a cute, quick, relatively light read. I greatly enjoyed it and would recommend it if you’re looking for sweet romance novel with nice spice and kink.

* I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. *

This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and it will not be the last. While part of a series, this can be read as a standalone.

Parts of this book were really sweet and romantic. A cute friends to lovers read with a tiny bit of a love triangle thrown in. The rest of this book was nothing but kinky smut! Sex clubs, group sex, voyeurism, exhibitionism, all of that and then some. The spicy scenes were well written and worked well with the actual plot of the story. A quick, sexy read that I enjoyed!

This is a really cute and fast paced kinky read. The author did a really amazing job creating a quick and fun read that was filled with a ton of kinky and bdsm qualities.

Noah and Olivia were perfect together and created a dynamic that I couldn’t help but feel invested in. Their relationship and chemistry was absolutely off the charts.

This book is spicy, sweet, has a little bit of drama for the plot, and an hea that made me smile. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’ll definitely be reading more.

This book is a contemporary sizzling romance with a hint of a love triangle and friends-to-lovers sweet romance. The author does have some very mature content in the story relating to intimate acts and positions as these characters explore their kinks. This book is all about accepting others and getting to know them before you decide for them or yourself. I love that author embraced this story and wrote it so wonderfully. It may not be for everyone, but I enjoyed the romance, the explicit material, and the happily for now ending.

This is the third book in the Christmas in the City series. This book focuses on Olivia and her newly discovered kink. We begin this story at Christmas time on her family's farm. She has a crush on a close family friend Noah. They have a small age gap of two years, but it is enough to where they don't have similar interests of so they think.

We glimpse other characters we have fallen in love with from the previous books, Cole and Gemma, and her parents Jackson and Holly.

We also get Noah's point of view, and he is a typical bad boy. He isn't into a relationship and has an exciting list of things to do before settling down; his accomplice Tate and frat brother /best friend are also into this list of naughty things. He has done a great job of keeping his sexual kinks separated from his family life.

Their family Christmas is quite idyllic, filled with winter scenes and holiday decorations. Unfortunately, the holiday steamy doesn't go quite as planned for Olivia. But it is more explained as to why in the coming chapters. This book is sizzling hot, melt your parties sexy, and the fact that the main character is into kinks like voyeurism and exhibitionism leads to some very interesting and mature content.

This book time jumps forward by a year, and now we are in Vienna with Olivia and Tessa. In the last year, Olivia has had some revelations about herself and what she might enjoy, so this trip is for exploring her kink and exploring Vienna. Of course, she runs into the ghost of Christmas past in Vienna, making this more complicated.

Things heat up for her and the boys as they experience the playground. This story also gets a bit of a love triangle thing going. I love that Noah realizes what he is missing out on and wines and dines the girl to please her. Aww, he finally gets the girl but now what?

The perfect start might just be shattered by an unexpected oops. However, the author didn't focus on that right away. Did you catch it? I wonder what it will mean?

This story was an exciting romance, but it couldn't have ended better. Omg, I love the author included a little snippet from a friend's book linking this story with another one. She even gives the credit and acknowledges the stories and author in the back of this book.

Olivia has always had her eyes set on Noah since she was younger. With their Dad's being best friends they've grown up round each other. One Christmas Olivia decides that she wants her first time to be with Noah and sets out to make sure he notices her, but is heartbroken when he rejects her advances.
A few days later she goes to confront him and accidentally walks in on him in a compromising position which shocks her, but also intrigues her.
A year later she decides to visit Vienna with her best friend Tessa and they embark on a sexual exploration at the renowned club The Playground. What she doesn't expect is to bump into Noah there and soon he starts to realise that maybe he was wrong to dismiss her so quickly.
Sparks fly, boundaries are explored and romance blossoms.
I really enjoyed Tinsel Temptation, the steadiness and the scenes that are depicted in The Playground were really hot! 🔥
I loved Olivia as a main female character, she was strong and knew exactly what she wanted. She wasn't afraid of her sexuality and embraced it.
Olivia and Noah were truly meant for each other, but she just had to show him that. Noah has to fight for her attention as other men are interested and a love triangle starts.
Tate and Tessa really added to the story and I hope there will be more books about these characters.
Tinsel Temptation is a sensual and naughty reading experience and did not disappoint!

This might be my favorite of this series so far, though it's a tough call. Although it's the third book in the series, you don't need to read the other two first.

This is the story of Noah (the son of Gemma and Cole from Mistletoe Mistake) and Olivia (the daughter of Holly and Jackson from Candy Cane Challenge). They've known each other their whole lives and Olivia has known almost that long that she and Noah are meant to be together. She just needs to convince him of that. Unfortunately, and completely unbeknownst to her, Noah is equally convinced they are not meant for each other, since he has a sexual kink that he's sure Olivia doesn't share. When Olivia stumbles across that secret, she is shocked but also intrigued.

The book then shifts to Vienna a year later for the rest of the story and that's when Olivia's journey of self-discovery really kicks off. She's found a sex club that will allow her to explore her new kink in a safe way, but - surprise, surprise - she runs into a familiar face there.

There are a lot of steamy scenes in the book but some sweet moments too, and the overall message about accepting what makes you happy and not settling for less is really uplifting. This is a great addition to this series, and I hope there is more to come!

**ARC Review** The story of Noah and Liv is fun, sexy & festive! Noah starts out as Liv’s long time childhood crush who has always been a bit out of reach. One christmas she decides that it is time to make her move & is denied. She is heartbroken & tries to move on. Once she discovers the true reason as to why he does not wish to be together, she discovers much more about herself. I loved both of their growths throughout the entirety of the book. This story touched on topics that I was not familiar with but explained them completely and in detail. This is not a traditional love story but it works perfectly for them. I really enjoyed this story & would love a part 2!

This book was a witty and lighthearted Christmas holiday romance. Told from linefrom a Dual POV, steamy and original with a fair few kinks thrown in.

Olivia and Noah are likeable characters who’ve known each other most of their lives. Olivia wants to explore more than friendship but Noah rejects her advances. Fast forward a year later, Olivia bumps into him at an underground club (playground) and his opinion changes about her and sparks fly. There is tons of steam.

This book has a slightly angsty feel to it but does end with a HEA which is bonus. I enjoyed it

I read the first 2 books a year ago and i didn’t realize that this story was about the children of the first 2 books. I enjoyed this story of Noah and Olivia. It is a spicy story over a couple of Christmases. Childhood friends to lovers, a bit of a love triangle and some exploration of their kinks in a club. The story was easy to get into and the characters were likable, I did have a little bit of anxiety at a few points in the story. But the ending was worth it and no where as bad as my anxiety thought the story was headed.

Good story with some humor

I really liked this book about Noah and Olivia. The kids from the two couples from the previous books. They've known each other all of their lives and while Olivia knew she wanted Noah, it took him more time to figure it out. This book has a humorous twist at the end that while I felt like it was coming, it was fun to read it play out. There is spice and some kinks so check triggers, it's mainly voyeurism. I'd like to know what happens with the best friends Tessa and Tate in the future.

This is a cute friends-to-lovers story line that involves kink. It was an easy read that left me smiling. I would have liked to see a little more depth in the character development but over all it was a great story and I will be keeping an eye out for more books by this author :)

I loved the story between Liv and Noah. I’m a sucker for a Christmas storyline and this one didn’t disappoint. On one hand it had such a sweet element to it but it has a lot of 🌶🌶🌶. I’m now off to read everything written by Melody.

IN SO MUCH LOVE

Oh my goodness Melody I am in love with this side of you.
When I wasn’t reading it I was thinking about it. I didn’t want to put it away.
Told my husband I was sick so I had to stay in bed to finish reading it.
I would have loved to know what happened in their first year. Did they get married. What was New York play room like. Did they have any kids.
What happened with Tessa and Tate.

I really enjoyed this book. This was definitely an original storyline and first for me. It was full of steam and there was also a romance within. I love that we got both characters POV, which I thought was very important with their relationship. I loved watching the relationship change and grow into something more. We get to see a different side of things and get an understanding of the feelings and emotions behind them at least according to the characters. Mostly, I loved that neither MC tried to change the other. Overall, this a great read! It kept me intrigued and wanting to read more!

This was a cute Christmas holiday book with Olivia and Noah. Lots of kink/BDSM references, a ton of spice, a dash of angst, some sweetness thrown in, a potential love triangle, and a happy ending.

This was a quick read, took me through a good range of emotions and kept me intrigued throughout.

Check triggers before reading just in case kink isn't your thing.

Another captivating read by Melody.
This time it's the children of our beloved characters that have the limelight, and boy do they shine.

Olivia and Noah are temptation unbowed.
I've never read a book about Voyeurism and Exhibition (think there the right names???) and I'm pleasantly surprised.
It's a 5 /5 for spice
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

Here's hoping for another book!

The chemistry just wasn’t there for me. Hard to have chemistry when y’all barely have one on one interactions and keep having sex with other people. Which I get it, it’s the kink, but that doesn’t mean you can just throw them together and suddenly they fit. It feels like Noah only wants her because suddenly she’s kinky and Olivia only wants him because of an immature childhood crush.

Also, stop bringing up your parents’ sex lives. It’s creepy.

Wasn't really sure what to except with the whole voyeur/exhibitionist element. Loved how the club scene were written and how they tried to explain why that scene works for them. Even Tessa didn't really understand their kink but didn't judge. And the bear skit they did, OMG. And of course, when Cole laughed like a genuine fully hearted laugh during that whole scene at the end.🤣, seriously Liv, you gotta check before you hit send.

This book was deliciously unexpected. I sighed and rolled my eyes in the beginning because I just couldn't get into in the FMC, Liv's, attempts to take things to the next level with the MMC Noah. He, of course, had been given the over the top "leave my daughter alone or I'm going to destroy..." talk by Liv's father so he resists, although it has just a much to do with his kinks as it does that conversation! Things really take off after seeing something she shouldn't at Noah's college home.

I'm so glad time was written into the story. It wouldn't have been believable if Liv had jumped directly on the kink train. She really needed to grow up some and having her completely out of touch with Noah really gave her a chance to do it. I love how brave she was to embrace her needs, especially by traveling out of the country to experience things she wasn't comfortable doing at home. I liked the supporting characters although her friend didn't seem as open or understanding of what Liv wanted. I think I read too many RH because I really wanted Tate to be a permanent member of a threesome with Liv and Noah!

This is my first foray into voyeurism and exhibitionism, and I love how your kink is not my kink but your kink is ok was accepted. Just because I can or can't see the appeal of something doesn't mean it's not appealing! I liked how Noah tried to let Liv experience her kinks without becoming the focus of the scene (whether she wanted him to be or not). I like how accepting their families were of their relationship in the end.

I really enjoyed this book. I've been starting, and dnf-ing a lot of duds recently. Tinsel Temptation was a nice and welcome surprise!

I know I'm the minority here but I can't mark this as a pure romance.🤔 I'm all in Reverse Harem, polyamory relationships, MFM or whatever combination but I can't relate to swingers. And probably this one could be labeled like this.

Olivia and Noah are family friends but Olivia had always a crush on him. Noah is older and has kinks like voyeurism and exhibitionism, and Olivia is just learning what she likes.

After a failed attempt from Olivia to express her feelings and after she witness him in a multipartner scene, they avoid each other and they reconnect after one year in Vienna during Christmas, in a sex club. And their relationship begins. I couldn't feel the love between then and probably it's because I can't relate to couples sharing..... He sees her having sex with someone else and he is impressed, aroused and intrigued. But it doesn't stop there. They continue their nights in the club and they have threesomes not within a relationship (like in MFM or RH) but with other club members. They even meet another couple towards te end, who is married but still go to clubs and have sex with other people.

I know this is a kink but I really couldn't feel the love, it was more like an appreciation that they found a person that gets them and understands them and accepts the not ordinary tastes. The idea that you love someone so much you want to let him/her feel as much pleasure as possible, even if you are not the one giving them is the basis here.

The writing was good and the sex clubs scenes were well written but it didn't feel like a Christmas romantic story.🤷

ARC REVIEW -
This review is my honest opinion of the book.

Not having read the previous books in the series I was pleasantly surprised that this book was written in a way that I didn't feel like lost while reading it.

As a woman in love with hallmark movies and smut book I found this book to be the best of both worlds.

Oliva is your sweet girl next door who harbors a secret love for her best friend.
Noah is your rich boy with a lifestyle that doesn't fit into normal society.
The story takes you on a ride from watching a Olivia try to seduce Noah one Christmas only for it to fail. To getting a sneak into his lifestyle that left her with questions and on a quest.
A year later Olivia and Noah unknowingly end up in the same country during Christmas time.
Kinks are discovered. Eyes become open.

I have to say after reading this book I will never look at Santa's elves and workshop the same again.

If you are looking for a quick read with the perfect amount of kink, laughter, romance and a Christmas setting this is the book for you.

I really wanted to like this book as i loved the first two but it wasn't for me.

Noah and Olivia are the kids of the 2 couples from the first 2 books. He is a few years older than her and while she is home for Christmas during her first year of college she decides she is ready for Noah to take her virginity. He doesn't agree and shuts her down and leaves the family Christmas to go back to school and have an orgy. He thinks she will never understand his need to be watched while having sex so he decides to not mention it while she is trying to seduce him.

Anyway she obvs doesn't take no for an answer, gets his address and shows up at his house. Some random naked guy lets her in and she finds Noah having sex with another woman in a room full of people having sex. She runs away and he tries to follow her but by the time he has his pants on she gone.

It moves forward to the next Christmas and her and her friend are in Vienna to try out a club called The Playground. Olivia has decided that after what she saw at Noah's she wants to do that too. When she gets to the hotel Noah is there working with his friend Tate who he has his orgy's with.

That night they go to the Playground and she meets Tate. They don't do anything to each other but she gets herself off in front of him while watching a sex scene on a stage.

Tate tells Noah the next day that he might have finally found a girl he could be with long term. A beautiful woman who likes what he likes. That night Tate introduces Noah to Olivia. He figures out pretty quick they know each other. Later Noah sees her with another man and decides shes the woman for him. He tells Tate he wants her too and they decide to let the best man win.

I hate love triangles but to be fair this was over pretty fast. She went on one date with Tate and after she spent the whole night talking about Noah he told she go for it. So at least Tate was OK.

Then they decide to give it a real shot. Be together for real and then it gets too much for me.

I've read book with exhibitionism or voyeurism in before but the couples then only wanted each other but they liked when people watched. I can deal with that but Noah and Olivia liked to watch each other with other people. I feel like there should have been an extra warning saying they both have multiple partners. I think i would have been OK with it if once they made it official the sex with others stopped but honestly it became full on

So he has a list that him and Tate made. Like a bucket list of all the sex stuff they wanted to do. He showed it to her and she said she could help them tick one off. They wanted to have a threesome with an anal virgin which she was. So they do that and invite people into the room to watch.

I feel that involving your best friend who has told you previously that he has a thing for your girlfriend might not be the best idea. Right before they leave to go home for Christmas the involve a fourth guy and have a foursome on the stage this time.

When they get home they realise that Olivia emailed Noah's sex bucket list to her dad instead of her own email and he is furious. Turns out he warned Noah off ages ago and he agreed because he didn't think she would even be into the things he was. Everything turns out OK then its just over.

What i didn't like -

-The sex with other people is not my cup of tea

-The love triangle - even though it was short - was annoying

-She was a crappy friend. Leaving Tess (i think) to fend for herself while she was off having dates and foursomes

-They both discussed there parents sex lives. Olivia sounded almost jealous of her mum when she said she had heard her parents having sex once and she said she thought her dad was hot and Noah's dad showed him his sex room. He bangs your mum in there Noah, get out!

-It is not very Christmassy. Its mentioned a few time but the other two books were much more about the season

-There both going back to different schools but there is no discussion about what happens. Are they allowed to have orgy's when the other isn't there or does the other person have to be in the room. Do they stay monogamous - or as monogamous as they do - or are they allowed to do what they want. It would have been nice to a least have a little talk about it.

What i did like -

-When her parents find out and her dad flips i liked how he told him it didn't matter what he thought because he was keeping her.

And then its over with no epilogue. Two weeks seems to be a theme in these books. The couples in the first books only have two weeks and so did these two.

I don't feel like these two belong together to be honest. I feel like Noah didn't want her until Tate did. I think it was bit of excitement going to the playground and they got carried away. I don't think they would last in real life.

This just wasn't for me and honestly i struggled to get through it

Olivia Hanmer has her sights set on Noah Stamer this Christmas. The sweet, all-American girl-next-door is determined to prove she’s all grown up and ready for the man she’s been dreaming of. But Noah, the charming player with a kinky side, is under strict orders from Olivia’s dad to keep his distance. So, what happens when they both end up in Vienna a year later? Let’s just say, things get spicy.

Spicy Highlights:

Voyeurism and Exhibitionism: Noah’s kink is watching and being watched, and Olivia gets more than she bargained for when she stumbles into his world.

Forbidden Romance: The tension between Olivia and Noah is palpable as they navigate family expectations and their own desires.

Threesome Action: When Tate enters the picture, things heat up even more with some very steamy group scenes.

Plot & Dynamics:
Olivia’s all-American innocence clashes with Noah’s darker desires, setting the stage for a tantalizing dance of push and pull. Noah’s initial rejection of Olivia stems from a promise to her father, but their chemistry is undeniable. Olivia’s accidental foray into Noah’s kinky world leaves her reeling but intrigued. Fast forward a year, and their reunion in Vienna is filled with more misunderstandings, jealousy, and, ultimately, explosive passion.

Noah’s internal struggle with his feelings for Olivia and his kinky nature is a major plot driver. Olivia’s determination to understand and fit into Noah’s world leads to some eyebrow-raising moments, especially when she finds herself at a sex club. Their journey from hesitant allies to passionate lovers is anything but smooth, but it’s oh-so-satisfying.

Verdict:
Alright, this book is a holiday treat packed with drama, secrets, and enough steamy scenes to melt the winter chill. If you're into forbidden love with a side of kink and a plot that keeps you guessing, "Tinsel Temptation" is the perfect addition to your naughty and nice list this season.

This isn’t a Christmas book. Don’t feel like you need to save it for December like I did, because the holiday vibes are very low.

This book didn’t have the best writing. Lots of over-explaining (and lots of telling rather than showing). Some interactions/ reactions/ thoughts didn’t seem realistic.

I wish the love triangle had been mentioned in the blurb because it was a huge part of the plot and I am not a fan of love triangles where there’s a winner and loser. And honestly it just didn’t seem like it needed to be included.

The plot got a bit murky with the triangle. Noah straight up told her that both he and Tate were interested in her, and she internally acknowledges that things were getting messy because of all the feelings that were springing up from everyone… but then later she acts like she has no idea Noah is interested?? She has a meltdown because she wants her sexual experiences with Noah to be special, but then later is somehow surprised when she realizes that she still has feelings for him??

And can I just say that it was weird how often the author included mentions of the parents. She thinks her dad is hot? She’s casually bringing up frequently overhearing her parents having sex? (Like, that’s happened to me and I do everything in my power to pretend that I never heard it. I certainly don’t reference it while attempting to seduce someone???) Dude casually thinks about his parent’s kinks. STOP BRINGING UP YOUR PARENTS.

Needless to say, I HATED the whole e-mail part of the plot where, once again, the parents were dragged into it. It wasn’t necessary!!

Overall, I’m disappointed. I had such high hopes for this book because of the voyeur/exhib part of it, but even that didn’t really whet my whistle. Pretty much the entire book took place in a sex club, but the steam/smut didn’t do anything for me. :(
