Rate this book

My, my, my. Phew. ::Fans himself off:: I have never seen such gratuitous use of the words tingle and mingle in my life. But damnit, it was great! Regine Abel is a really talented author. And boy has she mastered writing sex scenes. She does it in such a way to make it supremely sexy, interesting, and in a very tactful and elegant way, too. And let’s be honest, this isn’t meant to be Shakespeare. This series is an imaginative set of science fiction/erotica adventures. And they all have the same basic plot. I’m not saying this to demean Abel’s works, because I’m not into erotica or science fiction, but I’m completely hooked on this series. The characters are fun, the plots are sci-fi enough without going too crazy, the landscapes are so vividly detailed, and, again, the sex scenes are unmatched. Now I wondered why, in this far advanced future, they’re still using conventional methods of cooking and the same types of food we have now. This all happens as the characters discuss using cybernetics to replace a bird/human hybrid’s legs. It just felt like a bit of a disconnect. And I enjoyed Martin’s character, but his inclusion into a potential love triangle with Luana and Dakas felt very weak, with an equally inadequate resolution. I also felt this was the least sexual of the series, although it made great use of the intimacy that was included. And the comedic side of me so wanted there to be a tidbit during a lovemaking session where Lauana comes up with a mouthful of feathers. But I’m a troubled person with a sick sense of humor, so maybe ignore that. But overall, this is a great addition to the Prime Mating Agency series, and I look forward to seeing more.

My least favorite of the series so far.

The hero makes a bird like cooing, which is freaking adorable, but the fmc seemed to lack purpose. She was written in a way that I think was meant to make her look strong, but it only made her slightly sassy.

The language she used throughout the book was very modern American. Not the language a woman raised in a technology-free, illegal outpost on an alien planet would use.

Saying things like:
Shut the fuck up
I need deets
Bitch-slapped
Freaking me out
Bullshit mind games
Cock blocking

Even the other characters use the same language, it simply doesn’t fit with the story.

“We were born in this bullshit, retro colony, living like we’re still in the fucking medieval era because our grandparents got butthurt by the way people used technology back home.”

This modern language completely took me out of the story. It would have made sense in a colony that had access to technology, but these people were raised on the equivalent of a 70s hippy farm in space!

On a more positive note, I appreciated that the hero was an empath and I liked their bonding ritual.

“This is the soul room,” Dakas said in a soft voice. “As Empaths, we often need a holy place to center ourselves and realign our emotions with our true self, separate from the feelings of others. This room is attuned to me. You and I are here today to become one soul. And this temple will become attuned to us.”

I kinda wish he had a beak like the rest of his people...

Advanced society of bird people!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🤎🖤❤️💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😠😘🤓😉🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Luana - She is daughter of the leader of her colony. There are three sentient species on the planet, one of the other two, the Yuru’s, are fighters and are set on set on taking over her colony and either slaughtering or enslaving everyone. Her father is hurt and the colony’s only chance is with the Zelconian’s, the only other native sentient species. They can’t ask for help from the UPO because the planet is primitive and her people settled on the planet illegally.

The Hero: Dakas - He is from a bird-like race who also have psychic abilities. They had made an appeal to the UPO on behalf of the human settlement, but were told that the only way for the humans to be recognized by the Federation was for a Zelconian to marry a human. Dakas is more humanoid than the rest of his people, as he was the result of a human mating with a Zelconian.

The Story: Luana is immediately attracted to Dakas, when she sees him while meeting with the Zelconian council. Dakas knows as soon as he sees Luana that she is his mate. After his people turned her down, he brought up some good points with his council on why they should change their minds and possibly help out the Caston colony.

The UPO has a burgeoning trade agreement with a Zelconians for their crystals, but can’t get involved in the local war that is brewing. However, if a Zelconian marries a human through the Prime Mating Agency they can work around the issue and get assistance from the UPO.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration. The narration is done by Daryl Mayfield who does a great job. He has a deep sonorous voice and a pretty good female voice. He has done the narration for the other books in this series I have read. I have really enjoyed his narration and the stories have been surprisingly good. I like that they all have different and unique worlds and species.

I really like how all the differences between the species were explained so well, like how Dakas sleeps since he has wings, how his bed is different and how he showers in a much smaller human shower. The world building is so great, much of the technology and the way they live is thoroughly explained as well as the political climate of their worlds.

This series is a bit out there with the fact that humans are mating with different sentient species (not shifters, who have a human form but also shift into a different species), though the books are written so well that they are so fun to read.

I missed all the updates and comments when I was away from GR, but now that I'm back, GR is Blessing me with these Gems.
It's almost as if GR was waiting for me to return so it could traumatize me in a new way.

The cover reminds me of a certain Bollywood villain, and I can't get him out of my head!!!
I'm also intrigued.😌👀

I started this series as a goof because of the silly title, and I really enjoyed I Married a Lizardman and I Married a Naga, and there’re several similarities like the mutual respect from each mc’s and the low relationship drama, but this one fell just a little short.

The Kindle blurb sets it up, Luana is from a human colony on the planet Cibbos, and having problems with the Yuris, a minotaur/orc-ish aggressive species. Desperate, she visits the Zelconians, a bird-like species for help. There she meets Dakas, a Zelconian/human hybrid who happens to be her soulmate. The two enter a MOC to ensure the safety of both people.

The series can easily be read as standalones because each couple is from a different planet, and the only crossover is Kayog Voln, the “matchmaker” with the UPO… and his parts are very brief. The mc’s are always supportive of each other, and take their time getting to know each other. There’s really no drama or bickering.

Bottom Line- I do like this series, and I can’t put my finger on it, but this one was just ok for me. I liked both the mc’s, but found myself bored through chunks of it.

3.25 ⭐️ Another good addition to this series

"Many say marriage is a cage. But in our case, you will find it is the key to your freedom."

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ alien romance
✨ primitive planet
✨ she's a doctor and the daughter of the leader of a human colony
✨ he's a strategist for the Zelconians (a peaceful bird-like race)
✨ hybrid MMC (half human, half Zelconian)
✨ marriage of convenience
✨ playful banter
✨ he falls first and hard
✨ 2.5/5 🌶️
✨ cinnamon roll MMC
✨ healthy communication
✨ low angst romance
✨ brewing war
✨ HEA

My Thoughts:

It's a good story. A lot more in-depth world building because the Zelconian's have some high-tech, but I felt like the side plot was so intertwined with the romance that it somewhat overpowered the romance. Still an enjoyable read, but I just didn’t like it as much as the first two books.

I liked Dakas and Luana, but I don't feel strongly about them. They were both sweet and strong, and Dakas enjoyed teasing Luana, which was entertaining. But even though I'm writing this review two days after finishing the story, I don't remember anything specific about them. So, they're fine but forgettable.

There's definitely spice but I wasn't super into it. I think because I didn't really connect with the couple, I wasn't that interested in the smut/romance. 🤷‍♀️

Overall, this was a more plot heavy story, but let's be honest, I'm reading for the romance. So if I'm not vibing with the couple, the book won't become a favorite. I still will continue the series and read the next book.

Favorite Quotes:

I love this series!! This one might be my favorite. I loved how this one was not just a human h going to another species planet and culture. This was a good mix of both.

I loved Dakas. He was so sexy. So sweet. I just wanted to lick him right up. I loved how as an empath he felt pleasure making the h, Luana feel pleasure. He could feel her emotions and used it to support her and meet her needs, ALL of her needs!! Dakas was excited to finally have his soulmate and made sure Luana could feel how much she meant to him and the depth of his feelings for her.

Luana was smart and fierce, willing to do whatever it took to save her village. She was willing to open her heart and mind to allow their relationship a chance to thrive. Luana was compassionate and understanding but a tough little firecracker when it came to standing up for what was right. I loved how she was strong enough to allow herself to be vulnerable and be honest with Dakas, even when it was embarrassing so that there wouldn't be misunderstandings. Luana was such a good hearted person she deserved a great partner like Dakas that would always support her so she could thrive.

If you couldn't tell already, I really loved this one! I loved the characters. I even want to see the leader of the reformed "bad guys" get a mate too! In fact I hope that's the next book lol. I can't wait.

I Married A Birdman de Regine Abel serie Prime Mating Agency libro 3

Argumento:

These two together are absolutely swoon worthy.
So much care and passion and compassion and love and just a really good friendship. It really gave me all the feels watching these two come together and complete each other.

The relationship building and the conflict Luana’s people are facing are the main focus here. But they still found time to be playful and to assuage their ever growing attraction.

The sex was not so much detailed, filthiness as it was a total mind meld of passion and affection and love that really emanated off the page. The two sex scenes were brief, but mighty in that way. You could practically feel their connection through the words. It was really beautiful.

And the humor.
I really enjoyed getting to know these new aliens. Seeing their culture and individual senses of humor come out as they grew to know and like Luana more.

I had an amazing time reading this book. Just like I had an amazing time reading the other two in this series.
And I can not wait to see what happens next. What new race we’ll be introduced to. What new problems will unfold for that couple.
I am absolutely loving this author’s ability to make a relationship really go through the paces and her talent of showing us that same duo grow and learn together.
It just makes me want to swoon with how sweet and heartwarming it all is.

**5/5 stars**

This Prime Mating Agency serie is such a gem to read. I can’t even describe how dear these books are to me. I can already tell that they'll be my go-to safe read.

What I like the most about each book is that they all depict beautiful things like: Acceptance, Compromise, Respect, Communication, Devotion, Love, Friendship, Sincerity, Consent, etc. Standalones, they all follow a same sort of primary plot where a human woman has to marry to different species (aliens but vaguely humanoid) after getting paired by the PMA. The good thing is that, even with the same base plot, each book is unique and outlines different alien cultures and beliefs.

''The way her face lit up, her sincere joy upon seeing me turned me upside down. A burst of affection exploded in my chest, and my nape tingled with the urge to soul-bind with her.'' -Dakas
But like..how cute is this? I can't even... 🥺

If I loved all three installments, my favorite was by far I Married a Birdman . It had all the things that I look for when reading a book. The characters were all likable in their own way, Luana and Dakas were absolutely perfect for each other, and following their bonding was adorable. The conflict between the Colony and the Yurus was engaging enough without being overwhelming. No couple drama, no angst. The Zelconian culture was interesting and their technology fascinating. Overall, a very nice package.

✔️Safe
✔️HEA
✔️No Cheating
✔️No OW/OM
✔️Protective hero
✔️Steam level: 2.5/5

I wonder if Regine Abel will be writing more books for this serie. I would love it.
Don’t judge a book by its cover, they may look very goofy but the stories inside are more than worth it. You’ll find yourself swooning over the heros and rooting for the pairings’ love and future.

I Married a Birdman was an interesting and enjoyable read. It’s part of the Prime Mating Agency series and can be read as a standalone. It’s interconnected in the universe.

This is my first taste at a birdman alien read. The story alternates between POVs of our main characters, Luana and Dakas. The romance was nice. I liked that even though the marriage is arranged and it turns out they are soulmates, the couple takes time to get to know each other. They worked together and got along building that connection.

I Married a Birdman has that feel good vibe. I’d recommend it!

This one was my least favorite in the series, but I still enjoyed the story. The set-up for the arranged marriage was the weakest in my opinion- probably because it also employed the fated mate trope.

There was less romance in this and more tactical/political commentary about a war between a human colony and an orc-like species. While the story couldn’t have progressed without the war plot, I would have liked to see more of the relationship blossom versus the fighting and war discussions.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed this series immensely and hope it’s continued! :-)

A new release from Regine Able is like receiving a piece of candy…you anticipate the joy of a truly delicious experience! I am never disappointed in her books and this newest addition to her Prime Mating Agency series is STELLAR! This is not a cookie cutter book series, but each one is unique in the storyline while staying true to the backbone of the series…finding mates among two distinct species. This is what makes her writing so exceptional…each story is a new adventure into a foreign world. I also love that Able makes sure her heroines are strong capable women. I loved the slow burn even though they are soul mates and the romance was HOT! Download and enjoy!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Another lovely installment with sweet hero and heroine 😍.
The author certainly is doing right with this series.

However, I would love for her to return to her Xian Warriors and Veredian Chronicles series.
While this one is a nice read, at this point I would like to read more exciting and bloody full of fighting in my SciFi books! 😜.

4 stars. Something about this series… it’s just so good! I love the randomness of the alien species and the sweet connections between the couples. It’s just so fun and I really can’t help but enjoy each book.

Safe; no virgins, although hero’s sexual past is not discussed AT ALL. Some mild OM drama caused by guy who is interested in the heroine but she’s not interested in him.

3.5✨, 2.25🌶️

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a… no wait it really is a bird(man)!

I Married a Birdman is Book 3 in Regine Abel’s fun Prime Mating Agency series, which always features a different main couple but is interconnected in universe and small references. While the experience of reading this is probably best served by reading the series in order, it is definitely possible to treat this as a standalone if for whatever reason you only want to read this one. But I do highly recommend the first two!

Actually, I think the series order follows my favorites list for this series, with Book 1 being at the top (my fave) and Book 3, this book, being at the current bottom. However, that doesn't make I Married a Birdman a bad book by any means. There was a lot of influence from the series as a whole that worked really well as per usual, but there were some things that I didn’t connect with personally, and let me tell you why, after a brief plot/character description.

The story alternates between the POVs of our main characters, FMC Luana and MMC Dakas.
Luana is a human woman, a medical doctor, currently acting as the leader of an offshoot human colony in the stead of her father, who is recovering from a grave illness. With the threat of an aggressive species next door looming closer and closer, and with their colony equipped with nothing more than the bare bones of defense, Luana knows she must appeal to their other neighbors, the Zelconians, an alien species akin to a humanoid bird.

During her plea for help, Luana is surprised to see a human-Zelconian hybrid, Dakas, amongst the crowd. But even her curiosity is not to match the crushing disappointment and fear when the Zelconian leader says no for aid, seeing no logical, strategical, or mutually beneficial reason to do so. Luana returns to her home, dejected, not knowing a plan was brewing in the background.

Dakas immediately recognizes Luana as his fated mate, and, with the help of his Zelconian leader and the Prime Mating Agency, presents Luana with the option of an arranged marriage between her and Dakas, one of which would in turn unlock immense and life-changing aid for her home colony. It’s a no brainer to say yes. So, ‘will you marry me’ isn’t the question at hand here. The question is, ‘can you fall in love with your alien husband?’✨

That question itself is part of the reason that this book didn’t appeal to me as much as the first two. With Dakas having already recognized Luana as his mate, I felt in a sense that his side of the equation, of the relationship, was already at love. So I felt a little cheated on reading about the genuine falling in love process on his side. It was nice to at least see Luana’s journey through this, though. But I just think it made everything happen a little bit fast, and the development feel not as earned.

This might also be silly AF, but I Married a Birdman also commits one of my petty reader sins. There is a slight OM situation that is in the background of I’d say the first 60%. It’s not an OM situation as in the FMC was ever in a relationship with him or that she loves or even likes him in any way. It’s a situation where the OM sees the FMC as the pseudo leader and sees the power he would have by ‘having’ her, so that’s why he (attempts and fails) to go after her romantically. But this OM, Martin, does act like a little menace through the story. He could’ve easily fallen to the wayside and the story would’ve been all the better for it, but I’m really not sure if it’s just a me thing, but I’m not a fan of the trope (in romance books at least) where the author tries to magically subvert expectations and redeem the OM/OW and then have them continue to act as a secondary character. I don’t want to know and I don’t care LOL.

Tropes:
📖Human FMC x bird man alien MMC
📖Arranged marriage
📖Soulmates/fated mates/bond mates
📖Semi-fast burn (more on MMC’s side) / he-falls-first

Safety:
🦺 See details in review!

Spice:
🌶️Alien anatomy (MMC)
🌶️Lots of UST
🌶️Very sweet, female-focused pleasure

What a sweet pair ❤️

Luana needs help to protect her father’s colony. Stepping up when he’s injured was a given but marrying a Zelconian was not. Dakas recognizes the little human as his mate immediately. Agreeing to help her colony is nothing compared to having her by his side forever.

Dakas is super cute.. and a tad vain. 😂 I loved the side characters and little moments. These two were a great match.

I’m such a sucker for healer FMCs and Luana was no exception. She was the perfect mix of soft and fierce. Dakas was strategic and occasionally enigmatic, but single minded in the pursuit of his and his mate’s happiness. I’ve enjoyed that this series hasn’t had the same set up for each marriage, instead providing a unique situation where a marriage of convenience works well.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: violence, gore, severe injury of family member, poisoning, death of parent (off page), war

A generic alien mating agency romance - but I enjoyed it more than most. I liked that the FMC had a backbone and wasn't just a pushover that would follow the whims of anyone around her. Will continue to continue with the series.

Abel's a beast. Character believably? Check. Engaging storyline that is set in a circular world that makes sense? Check. Individual books of a series not repeating the same plot in every book? Check. Realistic dialogue speckled with intriguing sci-fi concepts? Check. Dynamic couple story with interaction that builds to connection? Check.

Prime Dating Agency is my favorite series out now, no doubt. Simply for the reason that every person within them is so damn likable. All the extraneous characters matter and not one of them pulls focus in a way that feels like page filler. Each book is so wildly independent of the other, it's crazy that the only 'who' that truly links them (atm) is our favorite space-bangled birdie Kayog.

If you've read the first two: you'll enjoy this. Even if it has the prickly feelers of a 'fated insta-love' book--hold in there! It'll sort itself out, I promise!

"I guess him being half-human makes him more . . . relatable?" I said sheepishly.
"And you won't have to worry about him pecking you with his beak," Kayog deadpanned.'

Ehhhh, it was okay. The cultural differences and learning each other's respective backgrounds with open, curious minds was still very much a strong aspect of the book . . . but it didn't have the depth or heart or magic of the other two. But I hope this leads into an I Married A Minotaur book because there was a very interesting character introduced near the end that I'd be okay with reading more about.

3.5 stars

I'm appreciating how these books deliver on the premise of the series - alien/human marriages of convenience that navigate differences while working together towards a common cause. Overall the series has a simplistic view of intercultural marriage that makes me shake my head now and then, but here I liked how Dakas challenged Luana's assumptions re: food. The psychic nature of the Zelconians made the sex scenes a boring pleasure loop, but whatever. I love being able to reach for this series when life gets tough and I need some bonkers I can depend on.

Just like the previous book, I only really cared about the couple. I felt like the fight with the other tribe dragged! I skimmed through those scenes just to get back to the romance. And the romance itself was sweet and had scenes that me giddy.

I'm only going to rate this two stars based on the fact that besides the couple, everything else bored me.
