Constance does not like the monstrous king that she knows she's destined to help, but she does like the queen that she is supposed to defeat. So her plan is to travel back in time and defeat the man who should have been her ally and find a way to have peace with his enemy. Well, that's what she thought until she arrived in medieval Ireland and found out things are not what she thought they would be. She might have had it wrong this whole time.
Aodh, the great Dragon King of the North, is finally free of his nemesis and wants nothing to do with Constance, the lass who's supposed to help him save his country. Why would he when she is aligned with the queen who's had him imprisoned. Or at least that's what he thought until Constance, who's literally on the edge of death, ends up in his arms, and all of a sudden, everything changes.
Now thrust on a path neither of them could have imagined, Aodh and Constance have no choice but to confront a forgotten past. One that's both full of joy and sadness. And full of secrets as well. Can they rediscover the deep love that withstood everything fate threw at them. Can they rediscover that love again? Find out in the epic conclusion of The MacLomain Irish Roots.
Oh my gosh! Wow, just wow, I almost don't know what to say. That's how good this was. Sky Purington never fails to amaze me , but this. Well, this goes well beyond amazing. This book is utterly fantastic. From the moment I opened it until the last word, it held me captive. I couldn't put it down. I was utterly absorbed in this book. I can also see every scene play out in my mind as it is some kind of movie. That's how vivid the details were. I don't think I can say enough good things about this book. It is definitely easier to understand when you have read the whole series. All in all, this was the perfect book, and it was my pleasure to read it. I can't wait until Ms. Purington comes out with her next series.
What an imagination Sky Purington has. While I was reading this I thought of all the other genre's out there. An author can do research for Regency etc, World Wars and so on. You can't do research on this type of story. I can't imagine what her dreams must be like!
For me this isn't a stand alone . You're dealing with brothers/sisters whose lives are all connected by this world the author wrote for this series. You will have to suspend your belief to fully enjoy this story/series.
At times I had a difficult time keeping the present and past of the H/h because it goes back and forth, between dreams of the past then current. The ending was chock full of suspense, twists, surprises, sadness and joy. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed with all the information, especially near the end.
I can't improve on the blurb so not attempting, plus I could never do it justice. No cheating, no cliffhanger - series ends, lovemaking within marriage, heat level 4 out of 5, romance and HEA.
I received ARC and all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)
As a conclusion to the series, there were just so many details to try to keep track of. While I enjoyed the fantasy, magic and conflict, it was very hard to keep track of the past, present, dream watching, ghostly visions and the “teleporting” to different locations. Here we finally get to see more of Siobhan to see just how evil she is - and understand a bit more about her plan which is crossed several lifetimes. Yes it was a good story but I found the last several chapters of big reveal to be extremely heavy. If this series is of interest to a new reader, (based on my experience) I would strongly recommend reading them one immediately after the other two better grasp all of the key components that are interwoven throughout all four books.
This is an entertaining story that takes you from the present into a magical past. Aodh and Constance must battle evil and lost memories. Can they rekindle the love they lost? Love, magic, and adventure await. There will be dragons, too. There is much happening, and I found myself lost at times. However, this will not stop me from reading what this author writes next. It is sure to be full of adventure, mischief, and romance.
As usual, Ms. Purington lives up to her standards. As the final chapter in her Irish Roots series, she pulls everything together. Good triumphs over evil, and everything goes on as it should. Love all of her characters. They are so well fleshed out that you almost believe you are right there with them.
This was so far from what I normally read it almost makes me laugh, but I really enjoyed all four! Had read another series by this author and going to follow by reading more of her work!
Like the previous 3 books in this series, everything is engaging, spell binding, and thrilling. Step back in time and enjoy the ride of dragons, kings, queens, and unnamed ones. You'll be glad you did!
