I enjoyed this story even though the writing wasn't very polished and the author didn't always use the right word, I could easily fix those things in my mind.

There were also some steamier scenes in the story although never explicit. I just skipped over those couple of paragraphs and moved on.

Her mother is dying and she is going to become the queen at 25 years old. Unfortunately there is a law that says that within hours of her mother's death she must choose the strongest warrior to be her husband.

Below the castle, guarding the treasury is an Aasguard Knight and his dragon (who's a rather wonderful character). No Aasguard knight has every married before, at least not that Vidar had every known, so he had no hope of his special friend choosing him.

While waiting for her mother to pass from this life into the next, Raene is going to the depths of the castle to learn to use the sword that she found that had belonged to the first queen of their country. Most days she and Vidar simply spar, they don't even talk, but they are growing closer as he teaches her to be a warrior.

Warriors are swamping Raene, wanting her to choose them for her next queen and she is getting pretty fed up with it. When the time comes - who will she choose??? You have to read the story to find out!

I can't say this is a clean read, there are a couple of scenes I had to skip over being steamy for a clean read, but there are no bad language problems.

Rayne and Vidar

In a fantasy land of k8ngs, queens, and dragons, Princess Raene finds herself becoming a queen upon her mother's death from blue plague. She takes her grandmother's sword to the caves to learn to fight from the warrior and his dragon who guard the treasures within. Sweet story of love with a little dragonfyre added in for some heat.

I thought it would become one of my favorites

It started out great, drawing me in with interesting storyline and great characters interacting and building a strong relationship. It leveled out and stayed there. Was looking for a little more happening for a conflict. Extremely clean and well written.

Good, quick read

I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it lacked depth. Otherwise, the story was original and I enjoyed it. It just needed more.
