Sometimes life can be tough to navigate, especially when you enter it at a slight disadvantage. Alexzandria Berotte has a loving family, and she’s made it through life all right. However, after discovering that she is pregnant and was nearly duped into marriage by a fraud, she misses something she’s never had. A mother’s love. Her mother died while giving her life, and she longs for that connection to help her navigate through one of her toughest times. She has difficult decisions to make, but after connecting with her father’s new love, those decisions seem to become slightly easier to get through. Trying to move on with her life, she does her best to convince herself that her past is behind her, and she’s ready to experience the one thing she craves… love.
Axton Vaughn is known as an arrogant prick, but he enjoys the title. As a newly certified gastroenterologist, he is living for the day that he can start his own practice. After reconnecting with his mentor from medical school, he accepts the task of temporarily running his office in Beaumont, Texas to get a feel for what it would be like running his own private office. However, instead of simply gaining experience, he’s introduced to the most beautiful nurse he’s ever seen. The problem is that he’s met his match, and he soon realizes that he can’t bear the same sarcasm he freely dishes out. Despite her fiery disposition and their constant bickering, he can’t seem to get her out of his thoughts.
Alexz and Axton can’t seem to be around one another for longer than a few minutes without being ready to wage war against the other. However, when life happens in both their worlds, they are both vulnerable and their rough exteriors seem to deteriorate. Can they be there for one another, or will their strife drive a deeper wedge between them?
Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
I’m invested in this family saga now! Lol I was curious how Alexz story was going to go with her being the only girl and the drama that happened in book 1 with her ex and I can confirm this book had heavy drama but it was a good story! I want to say Axton and Alexz were enemies to lovers but they both liked each other and were playing hard to get. They both met their match! I’m so glad that Jerrick situation was resolved because his presence initially confused me lol. I’m glad Alexz was able to get to a point of happiness because the trauma she’s had to deal with starting with the end of book 1 and the prologue were a lot. Definitely read the TWs before starting this book! Axton’s speech at the funeral really set everything in motion and although it was a time of sadness that moment was sweet. I can’t wait to get to the other siblings and get updates on these two!
Well, damn! Axton and Alexz just started going in on each other from the jump huh? That is how you knew that their chemistry is going to be 🔥! I felt for Alexz and all that she was going through with that jerk boy of an ex Knowledge, but damn girl, you mean as hell! Ax had something for that ass tho'! He could match her energy to a T, and she couldn't stand it! I hated that it took tragedy for the two of them to let their guards down, and let the vulnerability shine through. But, once it did, their relationship blossomed and love soon followed! They were adorable together, and nast tee! 😂 That twist with Jerrick was surprising! He was stupid as hell for that! 😡 Poor Dylan! I can tell that his story is going to be a drama filled hot mess, but very much looking forward to it! So happy for Sheldon and Anissa! This Berotte family is it Miss Monica! Great job! 👍👍👍
I’m definitely falling in love the Berotte family. This was a great introduction to Alexz and Axton. Their pettiness was comical and the sibling love from both family’s was everything. I can’t wait to read more from this family!
This book was a whirl wind of scandals and played out perfectly. This couple was petty as hell to each other only to get to experience the same kinds of hurt and loss in different ways. Great comeback with them and I'm ready for Nolan story.
Whew Alexz was going through it in this book. Her milkshake had the boy's going crazy. In the last book we learned that her ex boyfriend Knowledge was a whole f boy and that reputation continued behind the scenes. The book opened up with Alexz having to make a tough decision that could tie her to Knowledge for life or leave her heart broken, she knew either way she would be affected. Her walls were definitely up after that traumatic situation.
Dr. AxHottie enters the practice Alexz works at and despite her rude, off putting ways he finds himself attracted to her. Axton attempts to get to know her, but only ends up being frustrated. The tension they have between each other is thick, but Alexz tried to ignore it because she doesn't feel ready for those intense feelings.
Tragedy brings them together and Alexz is there for Axton when he needs her most. They decide to quit fighting the attraction and allow all the feels. Alex's past creeps up on them and a tangled web is weaved. Her brothers and Axton help her knock the web down. I loved that there was more time spent on the main characters, but just enough interaction from the sub characters.
I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Walters took a very sensitive subject and handled it really well. I liked both Alez and Axton. They loved fast, but I believe their love will last. Happy reading!
The second story is the Berotte family was just as captivating as the first one. Alexz had a lot to deal with in her life and she was not prepared for Dr. Ax. One thing they both knew how to do was match energies. Wonderfully written, can't wait for the next one
What a ride!! I thought I was in love with book one of this series but I’m head over heels in love Ax! I’m not gonna giveaway details, imma just say, you need to be reading neowwwww!!
Alexz and Axton were perfect for each other! This was a great read just like I knew It would. Can’t wait to hear more from these two. So excited that Sheldon and Anissa are progressing well, they both deserve it!
That man there! He had all the BDE! I don’t know if it was because he was a Que! You know it’s something about ques! They definitely live up to that name nasty ques! And baby he did not disappoint!
This was really a good story. This family has a story to tell and the author did a good job keeping us updated with everyone while also focusing on Alex with a Z’s story.
I'm sorry, I got bored 😭. It's not even about the accents here it's her(FL), I don't like people like her💀💔people who just are always ready to fight, all the time? Dang man why? Is it not exhausting. The doctor guy too? Bhod. The way they interacted with each other was honestly weird to me.
Edit: is the rest of the series the same way? The first one was really good but this one put me off
Well ladies and gentlemen we are in book two of the Berottes and Mrs. Walters brought the torch this time. The more we dive into this family each book is more captivating than the last. This novel had everything from drama, and deaths, to an insta-love plus everything else in between. Alexz and Axton did not disappoint. Let's start with how the two of them were each other in male and female form. The word petty should have been their middle name. The way they act towards each other at the doctor's office you could feel the heat coming from the pages because of the chemistry. I knew then that they were going to fall and hard for one another. I have to say the deaths took me by surprise, especially for one particular character. The deaths were a blessing in disguise though because it assisted the romance between Axton and Alexz. I believe grandma MiMi brought Axton and Alexz together. I love how Axton was there for Alexz through it all. All of the hurdles that presented themselves Axton was right by Alexz to help her clear them. The part that pulled at my heartstrings the most was when Alexz would become vulnerable and just spill her thoughts, feelings, and worries while Axton listened. A person that is really listening not just hearing is one you always want in your corner.
This is another amazing masterpiece by Mrs. Walters. There are so many plot twists and turns you are going to be wowed. Each book is leaps and bounds more intriguing than the last and Mrs. Walters is building a Berotte empire. You want to immerse in this read because it's a 💍 involved, shots fired literally, and the uprooting of someone's life. It's well worth each word written. First, grab your popcorn because you going to feel like you are watching a movie premiere, next download, and finally just indulge. I am anticipating the next books in this series. I can only imagine what is to come. I know we will get plenty of updates on Alexz and Axton.
So, Mrs. Monica Walters this how you doing us in these literary streets?!?! First you gave us Sheldon and Anissa and now you give us more excellence with Axton and Alexz with a Z! This book was soooo great l’m honestly at a loss of words for this review. After meeting her in book one I was automatically team Alexz! Being raised by a grieving single father and a bunch of older brothers I needed her to find her HEA. We got see the beginnings of her issues in Love on Replay which kept me intrigued but I was not ready for all that was Axton! That man popped up with all his dread headed cockiness and I was gone! I have said before I love an enemies-to-lovers love story and although they got over it pretty quickly the shade and pettiness were very entertaining! To finally see happiness and peace for Alexz was a wonderful moment because my girl went through it, but Ax was there every step of the way and I fell in love with him even more. This story had so many layers causing my enjoyment to go through the roof. Now… I need Dylan’s story because the nuggets dropped in books one and two has got me ready for the drama!
This was a 4.75 ⭐️ for me and I think it’s cuz it hit home for me personally with the death of grandma Mimi. Even tho this is fast paced, it gave me all the feels from sadness to drama, happiness and laughing from banter. Alexz is a strong independent black woman raised by her father. She’s the baby with four older brothers so she’s use to being tough to the outside world. Ax came around and even tho they were fake annoying eachother at first lol, they surely fell in love quickly. She’s entering her soft girl era. Their relationship added not only love but more positive female connections into Alexz’s life. Finding out that Jerrick wasn’t shit is wild. Money make you do crazy things. Knowledge ass just couldn’t let go and unfortunately karma hit him in the end in the worse way. The only question I have is Jerrick said Knowledge been following her for years! They only dated for months before she got pregnant. I wonder what their dynamic was prior because seems like he was plotting this sister wife shit for a while. I can’t wait to continue with the rest of the family!

Author Monica Walters just flexed another hot read for the Berotte Family with Alexz’s story. Alexz and Axton definite are Petty 1 and Petty 2 aka big forehead and long neck who’s perfect for one another. I think Axton and Alexz are both knights in shining armor and both damsels in distress who rescue each other in a crucial moment in time neither was looking for, but found exactly what they didn’t know they needed. The way they love each other is their Nirvana.
This Berotte clan is an interesting bunch. Their affection toward each other and their joviality laughing or snapping at one another was fun to read. They’re there for one another through the good and bad and there is some bad drama unfolding in here that will make you want to sing “there’s going to be some slow singing and flower bringing” from The Notorious BIG’s Warning.
I am loving this series. Its full of interesting characters who are telling a sweet story of the challenges love can throw at you and being ready to catch and not drop the ball. Love is not complicated, it’s right on time and it’s timeless, you just have to be brave enough to let it happen to and for you. Very nicely characterized, depicted and beautifully written and I await the next installment…
Alexz and Axton, Daddy Sheldon and Mama Anissa are 2 amazing couples who have overcome adversity to find true love and redemption. Too see Alexz survive heartbreaking loss and murderous trauma is testament that God has only our best interest at heart. Daddy Sheldon and Mama Anissa are a testament that love can come again after great loss of a dear one. God is the author of second chances. Loved this story and seeing 2 couples being redeemed and given second chances at love and true joy.
Alexz and Axton were one in the same and that's what made their story so great. I loved the back and forth between them but when they let each other in, they went all in. Their chemistry was there from the first encounter. I couldn't imagine going through some of the things she endured. Knowledge and Jerrick were trash. I can't wait for Dylan's book. I'm really loving this family.
This story was just exceptionally great and Ms. Walters was in beast mode with Axton and Alexz’a story. They definitely were made for each other and they are beyond couple goals. The way he loved on her and the twist and turns in their dynamics was a beautiful read to unravel 🥰. I can’t wait to see how they continue to navigate through life as they become one and baby that sex game between these two was fierce and may make all women go out trying to pet that dog🤣🤣🤷🏽♀️. I am in love with the Berotte family and they are definitely coming for readers like a raging bull and I’m here for it all the way in ready to be bulldozed over and enjoying every minute! Beautiful work Ms. Walters as we readers have come to expect your greatness is shining through!
Excellent Read… I loved reading this book. The love scenes was steamy but the love and chemistry Axton and Alex’s shared was beautiful. If you like books that has drama and romance, betrayal and laughter in it this is the book you would love to read. I love reading about close knit families that love each other unconditionally and have each other backs and this is the family you introduced to us in the Berotte Family. Monica you wrote another Good Read!!!
Again this author delivered an amazing story with a lot to digest. Alexz had a difficult time with her mother's death even though it had been years. Then she had a relationship with a super duffous man. Happily, she met the Doctor with an excellent bedside manner. Her dad and brothers' part of the story was extra sweet.
The Berotte family is definitely giving all of the vibez! I love how they all stick up for one another! Alexz & Axton we’re really funny and I loved how their story was developed. Again, Sheldon and Anissa started this amazing series & Alexz & Ax’s story isn’t too far behind! I can’t wait to see who & what’s next…!
I am loving the family bond in this series. It was tight from the start and Mrs. Shirlene just jumped right in and claimed her spot. I love that for Alexz because while her dad and brothers have her, its good that she has some ladies in her life too. Ax and Alexz were.funny as hell from the start and I love them together.
Loved Axton and Alexz's story. Loved the Berotte Family now we have added Axton's brother Arrow. He need to stop sleeping vwith every woman in Houston and settle down.💗💗💗 Hopefully he will speak to author and request his own book. 😉😉😉 This series could go on for months. Hip Hop Hooray. I was so sick of Knowledge glad we are done with him. This story does have some unfinished business from the previous book the author did a fantastic job bringing it all together. We also had some mystery and suspense. Who is following Alexz, who is taking shots at her? Is it Knowledge or someone else. The author did a fantastic job, KUDOS👏👏👏👏
My girl Alexz had so much going on that it would break anyone else going through it. The love and support from her father, her brothers, and Anissa was everything and made me love the Berotte family even more!! Ax was definitely one of a kind with his petty Betty self but the chemistry between him and Alexz was undeniable. That dance scene at Alexz part though!! That brought me back to my college years and being on the yard with Da Bruhz as we Deltas call em.
