Rejected by my so-called mate, I soon discover that fate has other plans for me.
Three Alpha shifters can’t wait to claim me as theirs.

Three years ago, the dominant Alpha of my family’s enemy wolf pack stole my heart. Certain I’d found my fated mate, I sought solace in him when misfortune visited me and someone close to me died. But instead of consoling me, he rejected me and condemned me to a horrific fate.

I thought my life was over. Then they appeared.
Three powerful shifters rescued me.
Blade–my confident warrior.
Lorcan– my long lost childhood friend.
And Kieran – my lightness in the dark.
I’m not ready to give my heart away again, but it’s impossible to resist them. Their strong hands, their passionate lips, my body demands I give into them.
Getting closer to them leads to conflicts.
But our passion is cut short by all the questions that still need to be answered. As I wonder whether this new pack will accept me, I know I need to discover how my real father died and what my true identity is.
Can I find happiness with my three shifters, or have I signed all of our death sentences by accepting their help?

Feral Deceptions is the first book in the Awakening of the Chosen series, a reverse harem paranormal shifter romance. Don’t miss this wild, steamy ride with a badass heroine and her hot three shifters!

This story will keep you reading. The only thing I would have liked is more detail on the packs and how the one does not want peace. So, follow Amirah story of living outside the compound where everything is kept from her about what goes on inside and why she has to hide. Then when everything changes for her, and she finds that not everything is as she thought. What will she do in the end? Of course, at the end your left not knowing what will happen until the next book. So, if you don't like to wait you might want to wait until all the books are out to read them.

I’m going to admit I struggled on what to rate this book and settled on 4 stars, but could easily have gone with 3 stars and probably should have.

An author I follow closely suggested this to her readers in her newsletter as an ARC opportunity, and because the storyline sounded interesting I grabbed it. I was a bit excited to see it was two books and a complete series. So the intriguing blurb, a couple of early 5 star reviews and the recommendation of a known to me author gave me the impression this was going to be a really good read.

Unfortunately I was disappointed. I will admit I may have had unrealistic expectations, but to me a two book completed series suggested there was too much material for one book so it was divided into two books. I was wrong, because both books are about 17 (short!) chapters long and the author wasn’t super detailed on her storytelling.

The storytelling is told from just Amirah’s POV - with maybe the exception of two or three chapters which were told by side characters. I’m going to emphasize ‘told’ because the book tells us the highlights and glosses over quite a bit of what actually happened. This could almost be described as a synopsis of a multi-book series or a draft that the author intended to flesh out with greater detail.

I would have appreciated having a couple chapters told from each of the 3 males’ POV. This is described as a reverse harem, so their perspective would have been enlightening and definitely helped to add some needed detail to the story.

If you like an open door into the steamy moments between the characters you aren’t going to get that with this book. I don’t have an issue with this cleaner approach to storytelling, but to have this be a two book story about a reverse harem - I really expected more actual story.

The story isn’t bad, it gets slow and confusing at some points due to the sudden introduction of a bunch of new characters. This really had strong potential that just wasn’t realized.

She is the Chosen One.

Amirah Faolan went through much in her young life. She lost her fathers. She was imprisoned by the man she loved. She was betrayed. Her innocence gone. All because of one man.

Tiernan Tate.

He is the Alpha of the Red Blood pack. The enemy of her family. A cruel leader bent on killing everyone in his path. Yet Tiernan convinced Amirah she was his mate. For three years, he had played the game. But when Amirah ran to him for help, Tiernan showed his true self.

Imprisoned with no hope of survival, Amirah is terrified but flees when Blade appears not knowing her pack was waiting for her arrival. This introduction leads into the upcoming battle that Amirah must be ready to face as the Chosen One and Alpha of the Dark Moon pack. It is a battle they must win. Defeat is not an option. Meanwhile, she is told she must choose her mate. But how can Amirah choose between her three shifters that are so different yet perfectly compliment her entire being?

I absolutely loved the story. Being the first book, Callie Stone had many situations to set up. While some are confusing, I must assume each piece of information will be explained as the story continues to expand. In fact, there was so much going on, the relationship between Amirah and her shifters ended up lost in the background.

Feral Deceptions is a wild and exciting ride. I couldn’t set the book down reading it straight through wondering what will happen next. I am waiting on pins and needles for the next book in this series.

I received this book as an advance review copy free from Booksprout. I have read and reviewed this book voluntarily.

Great writing and storyline.

Amirah lives with her foster father in the outskirts of a pack. Her father is very protective and therefore he doesn't let her go out or interact with the pack. One day she sneaks out and she meets an older man, Tiernan. Over the next 3 years she meets him in secret and they plan their future together. However, Amirah doesn't know much about him but she trusts him naively. Something big happens and she runs to Tiernan for help. Here she finds out just how cruel her mate is. He basically marks her for execution. Thankfully she gets rescued. We meet 3 males: Blade - assigned as her protector. He is even-tempered and caring; Killian - also assigned to her but he is Alpha's son. He acts like a jerk in the beginning but proves to be a funny and a bit insecure. Lorcan - he is actually Amirah's childhood friend. He seems quite and sweet. The 3 become her teachers and protectors and we get to see relationship form between them.

The cons:
The 2nd half of the book felt a bit rushed, and the relationships didn't feel organic. Also, Killian had this switch personality where he went from a jerk to funny guy without any explanation. Lastly, I don't fully understand Tiernan and maybe this will be explained in the next book. He groomed Amirah for years so it didn't make sense how easily he turned on her without getting what he wanted (not smart move). However, still a great read and a very interesting storyline. I will read next in series.

When I first started to read this book I was confused and thought I was reading a different book. It’s not quite as the synopsis says. Amirah isn’t rejected by her mate in the way it normally happens and it’s not a RH book in the typical way, at least not in this book. Maybe it will be in the next book.
Having said that I did enjoy this book. The story is good and has plenty of action as well as romance. I know it’s a short story which is also a shame because it’s really good and if it was longer would be brilliant instead of good. Everything happens so quickly it’s as though it hasn’t got time to grow on it’s own. I really would have loved to give this book 5 stars, hopefully the next one will. I’m still looking forward to reading it. Hopefully it will be a bit longer.

I read this as a 2 book series.

This was a great twist to an already well known werewolf genre. I loved the new approach. The characters were great and pretty well developed, especially considering this wasn’t a long, drawn out story. The author created a story that never became predictable and kept me wanting to keep reading all the way to the end.

I loved how the story was told from the heroine's point of view, giving insight into her decision making and her developing feelings for all of the men in her life. It was easy to feel her sense of betrayal when it happened because you felt like a part of the story. A really great read for anyone that likes a good paranormal romance with a HEA.

Awakening proved to be an interesting read. I enjoyed the setting. The prologue did a good job of setting up the story. The twist at the beginning with Tiernan was unexpected. Amirah experiences grief and betrayal within a short period of time. Luckily for her, Blade, Lorcan, and Killian arrive on the scene to help with those issues and to take her place as the Chosen One. Blade won me over immediately. The three men are determined to see Amirah take her rightful place and thrive in her new position. There is plenty of action scenes that help create tension for the climactic ending.

The group dynamic is bumpy at moments but they do come together to become an impressively cohesive unit by book end.

Generously giving this 3 stars.
The story idea was good, but the execution was not very good. There are a lot of holes in the plot that I felt hurt the story & I felt the character development just wasn’t there. I never got to the point of liking any of the characters to want to see what happens next. I wasn’t compelled to want to continue. Maybe some beta readers or a proof editing team would have helped. I know of some authors that have some of their fans do proof reading/editing after the regular editor goes thru it. (I’m on a team like that for an author, she has 5 of us fans that have greatly helped her clean up/tidy her stories/books) I think that would have greatly helped the story to clean up not only plot holes, but errors or repetitiveness.

Amirah is told she is a mate to an alpha but then he denies her and her fate is not good. Then she meets the three who become her support on a journey of discovery. Good characters that are just starting to develop with this first book. Cryptic comments and feelings I know will progress into a much deeper storyline. The book grabbed me right from the start and it does not let go. Loved the build-up and entertaining situations. Can not wait to continue on this journey.

This story started out in a very slow manner and felt a bit disjointed but soon changed into an exciting and action packed story with a lot of twists and more than a bit of mystery . Sad as well as romantic with more than one deception ongoing it does end on a cliffhanger but once you get into it you wont want to put it down

💜🐺 Captivating to read

Astor was trying to flee the battle with 4-year-old Amirah.
He had to protect her at all costs.

But he was stopped by the enemy.
He had a choice: surrender or die...

----------------

A good fantasy story to read in which we follow the first steps of a young girl who falls in love.
But nothing is what it seems...

Entertaining and captivating to read.

Im reviewing this book in return of receiving it as an arc. This book was really good, the plot was really good and I did at first think it was going to be cliche and very wattpadd-y but I was pleasantly surprised. I love each of the male love interests but do think the main character is a bit stupid but I still love her. Looking forward to reading the second book.

Firstly, the excerpt description incorrectly names one of Amirah's love interests as Blade, Lorcan & Kiernan instead of Killian.

The Dark Moon pack were gentle in nature & lived relatively in peace until the Red Blood pack staged a war. Thinking ahead, the alpha sent a part of his pack to Moon Island to forge a new beginning with the intention of joining them but was defeated on the battlefield. Thrusting his beloved daughter into the care into one of his most trusted warriors, she became his most valued secret.

Many years later, at age 15, Amirah and her foster father live in a small cabin on the outskirts of the Red Blood pack. Amirah is confined to the cabin - kept away from the outside world. She swore an oath to him to never reveal her true self to anyone.

Dreaming of freedom, a teenaged Amirah defies her foster father each time he leaves on pack business. She has never been allowed to enter the Red Blood pack compound & on a whim, runs to the one place she has always found peace: the ocean. It calls to her in a way she has never uttered aloud.

It is on one afternoon she befriends a handsome male shifter named Tiernan & over the next few years; Amirah meets with him regularly. As weeks turn into years, Tiernan makes promises of a future together, no longer shrouded in secret. While her heart may be sold on him, Amirah's mind 'sees' things about him she does not wish to believe.

Finding her foster father murdered on her 18th birthday, Amirah seeks solace in the one man she thought she could depend upon. The same man she has loved all these years, laughs at her. He had whispered false promises of their future whilst committing the most atrocious acts against others. Tiernan ordered the murder of her foster father for what he perceived as a betrayal to him & in the same breath, arranges a public execution of Amirah after her true identity is revealed.

As a blinding light shines from the Chosen One's crown, the new alpha of the Moon Pack Island recognizes the significance of this all-encompassing brightness. He orders his top lieutenant to find Amirah & finally bring her home.

After a decisive battle, the dying King entrusts his most precious possession , his 4 years old daughter Amirah, to his trusted friend. With Instructions to protect her and raise her because she is chosen to do great things in the future.
Eleven years later, the young and beautiful Amirah falls in love with the clan's Alpha. This the same clan that killed her father, although she has no me!ory of it.
Three years pass and the young woman comes home from a clandestine rendez-vous to find her adopted father murdered. On his death bed, her father gives her an amulet that marks her. She runs to her boyfriend who, upon listening to her story, has her emprisoned, to be killed in two days.
Upon activation, the amulet has signaled her location to her real pack who send a rescue team to retrieve her.
The author masterfully writes a tale of action, deceipt, love, friendship, and determination that grips the reader, from start to finish, in this very well conceived plot that rates more than the maximum 5 Stars permitted. I look forward to reading the sequel.

This was my first book by this author and I loved her writing style. The story started with a prologue that will pull at the heartstrings and you'll learn a name that you should hang onto for the end.

WIthout giving too much away, the love starts young, Amirah our FMC is super isolated, and it makes her naive. Since she is so isolated with her foster father, she only knows him and her wolf guardian Willow. The man who betrays her Is a real SOB, you could tell something was off about him and Amirah starts to pick up on certain things.

Our harem members are Blade, Lorcan & Killian, I will admit that I did not like Killian at first, like if I could've yelled at him through the book I would've. Blade is the protective one, a bit broody and feels unworthy. Lorcan is a council member, and knew Amirah before going with her foster father. Killian, comes off as a spoiled brat at first, he's the Alpha's son but he grows on you!

Throughout the book Amirah really comes out of her shell, she's got big shoes to fill and realizes how important her new role is. She takes lessons with the 3 men for a variety of things and really embraces what she's being taught.

I will admit this is my first fade to black reverse harem and I don't mind it! The plot really holds its own and sucked me in immediately! There Is a cliffhanger at the end of this book!.

Book one in The Awakening of the Chosen

Amirah was saved when her pack was slaughtered by the Red Blood Pack. Unbeknownst to them she was the daughter of the Alpha. She was raised by her foster father outside the pack. She has been kept isolated for her own safety. On her 18th birthday the Alpha of the Red Blood pack asks her to marry him. She is so happy. She runs home to tell her father but finds him near death having been poisoned. He passes her an amulet that releases her power just before he dies. Crushed, she runs to her fiancé only to have him turn on her when he see’s the moon mark on her palm. He locks her in the tower and is going to sacrifice her in two days.

The Alpha of the dark moon pack sees the sign that the chosen one has awakened and they rush to save her. They take her to Moonstone Island and welcome her as the chosen one. She is lost and confused but three males comfort her in different ways making her fall in love with all three. Before they can ask her to choose one of them, disaster strikes. Will she be strong enough, even with the help of her three lovers to survive what is coming?

Great start to the series!.

This first book in the Awakening of the Chosen series by Callie Stone was an attention-grabbing and holding story about Amirah's betrayal of her innocent first love by the Alpha of an enemy shifter wolf pack that leads up to her having a reverse harem of three men, Blade, Lorcan and Killian, none of which she can bring herself to choose between. The battle action is vividly described in all its gory details. But, the physical and emotional pieces of the romance range from soft and gentle, to the wild abandoned need of shifters. The reader is taken from immediate dark and deadly actions on to the ultimate betrayal of Amirah and its consequences, on to the light that leads to her lovers and her learning what the responsibilities as The Chosen One in fact are. All of Amirah's world is now in peril as hinted about by the second book in the series, which I can't wait to add to my TBR file. I really enjoyed reading this book and could not put it down from start to finish. A great start to the series, the story was well thought out, brilliantly written and the characters were fantastically developed with great chemistry. The story was filled with action, humour, mystery, chemistry and reluctant bonds, I hope the chemistry between the characters sizzles more and the reluctance reduces in the next book. The cliffhanger was fantastic and I cannot wait to find out what happens next as the series continues.

I received Feral Deceptions (Awakening the Chosen Book 1) by Callie Stone through Booksprout and am now reviewing. Amirah had thought she found her fated mate but after the death of someone important to her she finds out different. Instead of consoling her over the death he rejected her and condemns her to a horrible fate. Just in time powerful shifters rescue her and she finds herself drawing closer to them. Can she find happiness with them or is she putting them and their tribe in danger by accepting their help? I enjoyed reading this book and recommend this RH Paranormal romance.
