This woman is crazy

but for those of you who are crazy like she is and are dying to have a picture perfect house, I think it’s a good set of observations and an excellent list of instructions. But for those of you who know that will never happen, I would like to say there’s nothing wrong with a cluttered house as long as it’s safe and reasonably clean (which means the dirt is not a quarter inch thick on the floor). Some of us have other ambitions in life and that’s fine. Some of us need to come to terms with the fact that those ambitions mean we will never have a picture perfect house. Some of us can paint or write or have a wonderful garden or a career or run a medical unit and afford a maid to clean the house. The rest of us have to compromise with cleaning up for Christmas or guests, decluttering every five years or so and otherwise living with it. That’s OK. Our priorities are different. Let’s enjoy looking at other people’s beautiful houses and getting on with what it is we have to do. Peasants like us for thousands of years lived with a floor that actually was dirt and only had a big pot and a few dishes to clean. So, by comparison, we’re doing great!

Well worth reading. 4*
This book is a welcome addition to my growing resources on this topic. I suppose I should put some of the valuable and sensible advice I found in this book into action. I am very happy to recommend this very useful book about an important aspect of our existence, which is keeping our environment in order and not allowing everything to get on top of us. It is good for the soul too.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
