VIOLENT REIGN is book three in the Violent Kingdom series from USA Today bestselling author Lili St. Germain, about two warring families who are ruled by blood, power and twisted desire. This is the final novel in the story of Rome and Avery.

She loves to read almost as much as she loves to write.
Such a violent and epic ending for this dark (too dark I’d say) series. The plot twists didn’t disappoint although there was a lot of foreshadowing for the biggest one.I’m a sucker for books that take you by surprise and this author always manages to do that. Recommend to readers who enjoy romance combined with true crime and lots of twist, but check the tw list.
I didn’t appreciate how Avery and Rome only get together in the end of the book. It was about the last 10 percent too. Other than that they were separate.

The final book in the Violent Kingdom series is here and as dark as they come with this Romeo and Juliet lose retelling. Avery and Rome are back and we pick up where book 2 left off. Can these star crossed lovers find redemption and safety from their captors? Both in-prisoned by others, can then break free before it’s too late? Deceit, enemies and true evil will work its way to keep these two souls apart but is their love strong enough to endure and overcome? This is a very darkly themed romance and may trigger some including many scenes of non consent. The perfect ending to this twisted dark story . Avery and Rome truly go through hell…can they come out on the other side? I won’t say more as I don’t want to ruin anything but lovers of dark and twisted with serious topics will devour this one. LSG has a way to make you sympathize with the villain even after all they do. Told in dual POV
Triggers Involved : Non Con (not by the hero) , past torture flashbacks , torture , kidnapping
Plot Summary : Avery thought she had her life back again until a very shocking revelation came to light. Who was behind her attack? The person responsible for so many miseries? It was someone she knew her whole life and that might be the most disastrous thing of all because now she does not know who to trust.
Rome thought he finally had the girl he had fought so hard for . Both of them had been kidnapped, raped, beaten and thoroughly destroy d but life was not done with them yet.
The worst was yet to come.
Overall Opinion : Omg. After the end of book two, I have been dying for this book! There were multiple delays and I had lost all hope of ever getting this book but the author somehow made it and we finally have the conclusion! I can't wait for you all to find out what actually happened and the utter craziness this book has.
The one thing that always hooks me to Lily's books is the darkness in them. All her characters have this depth which is lacking in most books. Even her villains. Especially her villains in fact. You actually feel connected to them no matter how unhinged they are. The same was the case in this book. It has so many twists and the best plotline ever. I am so addicted to this trilogy now. The suspense is worth it.
Definitely recommending this trilogy to all the dark romance loving people out there. This one is downright crazy and delicious. I was left with this ache in my heart by the end even though it was a happy ending, I just didn't want to part ways with these characters.
I am so grinning right now at the masterpuppet that is Mrs St. Germain. With this series, and particularly Violent Reign, its conclusion, the author completely and skillfully played with my emotions. The intrigue had me wondering. The outcome simply blew my mind. And in between, my heart broke, and I felt so thrilled that I could stop turning the pages. Rome and Avery, modern Romeo and Juliette, fought hard and never let go. They evolved, and they showed intelligence and maturity in a story that I can only applaud. I can already feel the book hangover looming!
Violent Reign is the conclusion to Rome and Avery's story. I was really excited when I got my hands on this dark romance book. I didn't know what to expect and how the story would unfold. We pick up where the previous book ended which is both characters being imprisoned in different circumstances. Both Rome and Avery already went through so much but the author still had a lot in store for them in this final book. My heart broke, especially for Avery, for what they had to go through. I couldn't wait for them to be reunited.
One of the things that I love about Lili St. Germain is that she is able to make me feel sympathy for the villains in her book, that was the case in this book as well. I really loved the twists and turns in this book. Also, the character growth was amazing. Overall, this book was a great ending to the series. However, I would've wanted to see Rome and Avery spend more time together in this book. I can't wait to see what story the author will write next. She is one of my favorite dark romance authors.
Violent Reign was a rollercoaster ride. It was also wild. There were twists and turns. It was messed up and wrong on so many levels. There was betrayal, secrets and so much more. Through it all it kept my attention. I was too invested in these characters not to know how it all ended. It was an interesting ending to an epic story.
The conclusion to Rome and Avery’s twisted love story is the 3rd instalment to the violent Kingdom series.
I going to start with the villain of this of this story. I loved him, he played his part to a tee. I believe that if you have a great villain you will have a fantastic story and that is exactly what Ms Germain gave us on on a platter. He pulled me in and didn’t let go. He was a full on psycho and wore his mask perfectly.
This story was so well written, the in-depth detail with what both Rome and Avery had to endure pulled me in and I felt as if I was experiencing the torturous moments along side them, all the good, the bad, and the ugly.
This series is a must read, you won’t be disappointed.
I have been waiting for this grand finale since FOREVER!!! Or at least it felt like forever!!!
(Side note: I know it took a little longer than expected due to the author having some personal family events. Lots of love her way!)
Now, the only reason I didn't give it a full 5 star review was because I wish we had gotten more of Rome and Avery together. They were apart way too much and I was getting antsy for them. However, the twist, turns and tormented made up for it with the crazy cousin storyline. That Nathaniel has some serious issues! Boy, oh, boy.
And normally I would have lots of highlighted quotes but I inhaled this book and wouldn't stop reading until I was well into dawn, not even to stop for quotes. It was that good!
I think I may have enjoyed this Romeo and Juliet more than the Shakespearean one. 😉
1. Rome and Avery not together for the entire book-literally picks up where last book ended and aren’t together until the 82% mark. 2. Her being raped by her captor, him tucking someone else to get free 3. Everyone calling her “Aves”-So. Fucking. Annoying.
So many other issues. Unfortunately this author lost her luster with taking YEARS to produce book two then laying out this steaming heap. This could have been an almost-awesome duet.

“I want to be absolved of my sins. I’ll tell you everything.”
Kidnapped not once but twice can our modern day Romeo and Juliet survive the mad man, his epic plot twists and find a way back to one another? Immediately picking up where book two ended Rome finds himself in another prison, his only thought to find Avery. Avery is locked in a living hell as she slowly realises everything she thought she knew was a lie and no one is who they appear to be. Picking through the slivers of truth buried under layers of deceit can she survive long enough to avenge herself and regain her freedom?
This story is filled with dark deeds, wickedness and a warped sense of morality. Power, money and greed has inflated egos beyond their humanity transforming them into self appointed untouchable gods or more fitting devils… who torture and dispose of anyone who gets in the way. Everyone is someone else’s pawn but once you find out who the players in the game are it all makes perfect sense. A flicker of understanding. A moment of empathy. But in the end I sat smiling as I read the ending and felt so satisfied I could almost feel those rays of sunshine. This story artfully weaves violence, cruelty and love throughout the plot that slowly blooms into an epic cacophony of villains, victims and of course victors. My mind is still spinning with all the plot threads and how each piece was moved strategically across the board. A perfect example of cause and effect, I loved this world and it’s jaded characters, finding splinters of happiness in their broken lives. There is beauty to be found in the ruins and this story captures that perfectly.
Five sinful stars… the characters would keep a confessional busy is all I’m saying!

It feels like forever since I’ve read anything from Lili st Germain but let me tell you it was definitely worth the wait.
“Violent Reign” is the third and final book in Rome and Avery’s story. As soon as this epic story landed on my kindle I just couldn’t wait to get stuck into this phenomenal story. Rome and Avery are still fighting for their epic love they are truly star-crossed lovers. I completely devoured this story from start to finish as with any Lili st Germain book this is a dark romance filled with twists and turns that will keep you guessing and it will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire journey. Buckle up because you’re in for the ultimate ride of your life!
It took me a little bit to remember whose who. It all came back quickly as I remembered what happened as the ends of book two Vengeful Queen. Violent Reign picks up right where Vengeful Queen ended. Rome and Avery both captives held separately. I think this was a fast pace book for the story. I was caught off guard with the revelation with Nathan it was twisted. Good ending to the series as this one wrapped the story nicely. Look forward to more from Lili.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I’m been waiting what seems forever for this story too come out and I have too say it was well worth the wait. Avery & Rome are still fighting to be together and now more than ever they must find a way too eliminate every threat too them. Nathan, omg he was the perfect villain, you want too hate him. I mean he’s insane but you kinda wanna feel sorry for him because he was made too be this sick, twisted psycho. I absolutely love Rome and Avery and their story will be one I will always remember. Definitely a must read series.
Omg. Book 1 was good. Book 2 was REALLY good. Book 3 (this book), there are no words apart from EXCEPTIONAL. (Hence it's on top reads list) The hamsters in my brain are probably going to have a cardiac arrest soon from how fast my mind is spinning. All the pieces are now in place and I'm just speechless. Because of how things unfold and keep happening until the very last page I won't comment on the characters or plot like I normally do, but I strongly urge you to one click this trilogy and binge immediately. You won't regret it. Like all books by this author, I'll still be thinking about it for years to come, hence some moments in this trilogy meant so much more.
This last book in the Violent Kingdom trilogy was 100% worth the wait. An absolutely fantastic ending to a twisted take on an already tumultuously tragic love story. Rome & Avery were wonderful but the fierce faith in their love for one another truly stole my heart. The epilogue truly showed Avery’s empathetic soul.
My rating: 4.5 stars. Loved the Violent Kingdom Trilogy! 😍 Very very nice read. Great twists and turns. None of my predictions came true. 😅 We (the readers) had to wait a looong time for this third book (several years actually!), but it was worth the wait! Hope Lili St. Germain will write many more books; I will certainly read them! Only... I'll just never read one of her books again without knowing that the next book has also been published and/or the series is complete. 😁
30-04-2022: jaja... éindelijk!! Het heeft járen geduurd 😕 maar the Violent Kingdom series is finally complete! 24-04-2021: Due to a death in my family (stepfather), I've decided to cancel the release of Violent Reign until further notice. 10-10-2019: Komt dit boek ooit nog?? Zo ja, wanneer?? 🥴
As expected, the story is dark. I like a dark theme book but somehow the scenes where Rome and Avery being tortured were overwhelm me. Avery was abused sexually and physically like 9 months? her entire pregnancy. 😕
I remember the second book contain a lot of scenes where they were being held capture as well.
Avery and Rome spent most of the time separated. Again, I don't mind to read a dark theme book but I like it more if there's a happy moments too between the main characters.
Nathan is a well developed villain. He is what he is because he been through so much bad experiences from his own father.
My favourite part of this book is the epilogue. How Avery get her revenge is sweet in a scary way but poetic I think.
And Jase and Juliette make a cameo.
I will always looking forward to Ms. Germain's books.

There are too many things that stopping me to give this book any star , I want to rate this series but for now I am refraining myself from doing so. urely it was Dark , i has everything a dark book usually have . and the plot was goodp , it could be outstanding but it couldnt infect was bit disappointed,
I loved some elements of this series but there were many things/ many scenes/relationships and characters that hadn't have good explanation, or lacking background/ base, also there wasn't any chemistry between MC, there wasn’t relationships building between them infect between all characters neither between MCs or supporting Characters, all were lacking base let alone building them in a nice manner. The friends of main Characters were merely mentioned or forcefully entered in the scenes
Just only if I have seen some relationships building or connection between any characters , that was between avary and Nate I felt many emotions towards Nathaniel starting from liking, hating , making me angry, angsty and eventually sympathetic towards him. But his individual character also needed base needed some character building and has confusing personality, he wasn't sure if he like avery care for her hate her, or love her coz in some scene he is cruel towards her and in some he cared for her, he himself said at the end that the friendship between them was real if that was real then how could he left her bleed and bruised , In one scene I saw the longing in him to be loved when he teased her making her remembered the time in dungeon by saying that " say you love me even if you don't mean it. Bottom line is he had great potential as an anti hero or the cruelest villain but author didn't make justice with his character. Even though he deserved what happened in the End but I didn't like his end infect he could rise as new And good Nate hell he deserves his own solo book . Well the End , even though the scene was good and very sad but avery should give Rome chance for his closure before doing what she did to Nate. But that scene made me so sad. And made my eyes slightly wet
And if we talked about Rome, well in my eyes he was the weak character, no matter what he endured and also lacking personality.
The fude between Montague and capulets were unclear and unresolved.
Rome Father was also spinless character.
And police/FBI in this series was good for nothing.
Again this could be good series had big potential but didn't come down as expected or as it should have.
Still I binge read the whole series Dies it make me weird?
Powerful. Mindblowing. Brilliant. Violent Reign is the explosive conclusion to the Violent Kingdom trilogy and Lili St. Germain wrote her heart out. I'm still reeling from everything that transpired as Avery Capulet and Rome Montague fight with everything they have to find a way to reunite for good. The evil that is thrown their way had me shaking my head with every turn of the page. I honestly couldn't believe all that transpired and still had a tough time as both Rome and Avery did, knowing who was behind all of their misery.
But St. Germain doesn't hold back as we are privy to all the horror both Avery and Rome endure. Avery is the true heir apparent in every way possible as even her inner thoughts actually made me chuckle a bit realizing she can still have lighter albeit weird thoughts of everything happening around her. And Rome. Oh, that man, doing anything and everything to escape his own hell. Thinking of his Avery when necessary to fool his tormentors and get back to her as soon as possible. They each have the wherewithal no matter what may be occurring both in front of them and behind their backs to somehow manage to not only survive but be the invincible souls fated to find each other again. Their inner strength was truly awe-inspiring.
I'm stating right now that I will not give anything away but will simply say this: you need to read the entire series starting with Vicious Prince. Then devour Vengeful Queen before you even think of picking Violent Reign. It is a trilogy that depleted me in the very best way and kept me riveted as each new revelation and secret was revealed. And trust me, this last installment had my jaw dropping more than once with all that is disclosed! It is a nail-biter that I highly recommend and is definitely some of this talented author's best work to date. Forever a go-to author for me, Lili St. Germain crafted a storyline that consumed me and it is worthy of 5++++ huge stars and more.
To all lovers of the dark, you need this trilogy in your life. Ms St. Germain is the Queen of the dark romance and this story is dark at its finest. It’s a no holds barred tale which once again really pushes the boundaries with its brutality and violence. Be warned, there’s no grey in sight. It’s a fantastic story and I absolutely loved it.
Violent Reign is the final instalment of Avery and Rome’s journey and what a fight for survival it’s been. I read most of this book with my heart in my mouth, fearing the worst but hoping for the best. Quite frankly I am in awe of their strength and endurance. The betrayal is staggering and the revelations mind blowing as the story unfolds and secrets of the past are divulged. It’s a twisted tale but surprisingly an emotional one too. By now it’s clear that there is a distinct lack of moral characters here and I was really hoping the majority of them would come to a sticky end. However, a tiny part of me did, for a brief moment, feel some kind of sympathy for those villains of the story who were clearly victims of circumstance too and a product of their deprived upbringing. I give this author complete credit for all my conflicting emotions, as her fantastic writing skills show these characters as more than one dimensional, even those capable of such evil deeds.
Yes there’s violence and bloodshed, loss and heartache, but there’s also friendship and loyalty, courage and determination. Violent Reign is the perfect ending to this trilogy. An emotional, gritty series which at its heart has a love story of epic proportions.
I was so hopeful this book would be absolutely worth the wait, and I was so ready to love it as much as I have the others in the series, along with the rest of Lili's back catalogue. Her writing style is still as absolutely enthralling as ever, with some very on-brand plot twists that did mean I stayed up all night pouring over the pages because I needed to know how things ended. That being said... one plot twist was incredibly predictable, whilst the other redeemed itself and did have me sit bolt upright and gasp (and I suppose the cameo characters towards the ends were a bit cute). Like another review mentioned, I would have loved more time of Avery and Rome together, as whilst it is always interesting to read from respective points of view - it's their story, so I'd have loved for there have been more of them telling it together instead of being apart. Whilst the ending wrapped everything up nicely, it was a little underwhelming, considering the ordeal of the characters to get to that point. I had also forgotten how horrifically graphic Lili's writing can be. Props to her for being that talented, but there were sections I had to skip over because of how uncomfortable it made me feel. I know I personally am a different person than I was reading the first and second instalments all those years ago, and it's definitely a "me" problem - but it is worth noting these triggers may well be a problem for others. I don't think this is Lili's best work, but is it still worth reading? Absolutely.

OMG, WTF and all the other expletives I cannot write here. This book is fantastic. The final book in the trilogy, a long time coming and so SO worth it. Twists and turns everywhere. Just when you think you’ve got it all worked out, BOOM 🤯 💥 Lili throws in another bombshell.
Avery is kidnapped on her and Rome’s wedding day, and forced to marry her cousin Nathaniel. She must be the good, compliant house wife, heir to the Capulet dynasty and have his children. If she resists, Rome, held prisoner by Nathaniel, and forced to do unspeakable things, will surely die.
Pregnant and afraid for her life and that of her unborn child, she complies and lives a life in fear of r@pe and torment by her captor. Never cross a Capulet though, because the whole time she is quietly plotting his death.
Meanwhile Rome, desperate to escape and get back to Avery, will stop at nothing to get free. Nobody will stand in his way. He reaches out to his father for help, and the old Montague ways ensure no obstacle insurmountable, despite the truths they learn along the way.
Even once Avery is free of Nathan, she is still never free. Powerful and corrupt, that Capulet is above the law, and will stop at nothing to have his obsession, Avery and her unborn children.
A modern twist on the classic star crossed lovers, Capulet and Montague.
Who killed Adeline? Who are Nathaniels real parents? Who is the XO killer? What really happened to Sebastian? All these questions are finally answered!!!!

Only this author has me anxiously anticipating for a book even if it took years.
The grand finally… all the secrets are finally revealed. Rome and Avery got the conclusion they deserved and it surpassed all my expectations.
This is book 3 in the VIOLENT REIGN series and it picks up right where book 2 ended. Thrilling, action packed and intoxicating, my only drawback was, it was a long time since book 2 so I had to re read parts of book 2 to refresh my memory. That’s a me issue I easily solved and it had to do with not wanting to miss any clues about this twisted tale of family love, power and revenge would unfold. Avery and Rome have already gone through so much, but this author wasn’t done with their terror filled adventure! The plot twists, the suspense and danger and surprises they endured! Yet, despite all the horrific horrors they endured, the author masterfully intertwined how their strength and hope to survive come through. These characters continued to evolve and develop flawlessly! I am always in awe of how this author can create these twisted dark and gritty romances keeping it fresh and giving us a happy ending that had me smiling that had me completely satisfied. 4.5 stars!
Violent Reign - Book #3 - Violent Kingdom Series - Lili St Germain ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The long awaited finale of Lili St Germain’s Violent Kingdom series - Violent Reign has been eagerly anticipated and I definitely was not disappointed with the epic finale.
Recapping the terrible events from the previous books, Avery Capulet and Rome Montague are still in mortal danger. Their lives and their fragile minds continue to be manipulated but the identity of the XO serial killer is no longer something they seek. They know his identity, now it’s just a matter of surviving his madness and his lust for power and control. They’re constantly treading that fine line between life and death as they war with the XO Killers accomplices but with so much to process, so much grief, sorrow and terrible secrets revealed will they ever find resolution or safety in each other’s arms again.
Brilliantly crafted characters with every character in this series displaying amazing depth and complexity and the story is meticulously delivered to accentuate every heart stopping moment.
Lili St Germain has reinvigorated my love of this genre and no matter how long I must wait, I will always one-click Lili St German’s books. A sublime ending to an amazing series.
This third story continues on fluidly from where book two, Vengeful Queen, left off. Readers are immersed into the world of Avery and Rome, as well as some very questionable Capulets. I found myself becoming quite annoyed with those characters though, okay, that’s being polite but you get the idea. The emotive scenes created a deep-seated feeling of needing to ride in and rescue Avery and Rome.
What Avery has had happen to her throughout these three books is incredible, as well as heartbreaking. Her inner strength is called on over and over and she continues to grow in strength, I admire her character’s backbone and sass too. Rome hasn’t had it easy either and holy moly in this book it is a whirlybird of emotions and drama for him.
This author creates evil characters like no other, the gradual buildup of their profiles describes very detailed images that are truly disturbing at times, but then again, they are evil! Finding out many things from the past answers so many questions as all the pieces of the puzzle slot together to create a perturbing picture. With plenty of twists and turns this book is anything but predictable and I loved that fact.
