Embracing The Bond #1

Finding Her Panthers

Rate this book
She is desperate to make the heat stop.

When finding your mate is a matter of life or almost certain death, Harmony Harper is drawn into a world of romance and danger.

Secrets of shifters bubble beneath the surface of packed nightclubs, suspicious arrangements, and the world as humans know it.

From foster homes to heartache, Harmony has not had an easy life. Complicating matters further is the shocking revelation that she not only has one mate but three. To face her demons, past and present, her fate will intertwine with the West brothers. Together, their love and power as panther shifters will fight against those who are intent on executing a decades-old plan to destroy Harmony.

When Harmony has known only abandonment, except for her dear friend Penny, can she navigate an insatiable relationship with the three most powerful leaders in the pack? Will she find the love and family she has been searching for?

These secrets can be kept no longer. Blood will be spilled, moments of ecstasy explored, and life-changing decisions made.

Her desperation will shift into determination and a desire to fight for the life she deserves.

Finding Her Panthers is the first book in the Embracing The Bond Series, a stand-alone, steamy Paranormal romance. It includes multiple fated mates, lots of heat, and four panthers finding their forever.

Note: Due to explicit language and graphic sexual scenes, this book is intended for mature (18 years +) readers. This book contains discussions on self-harm, child sexual abuse, and suicide.

Dnf @ 18%/4 chapters in

This book has a lot of things going for it, a lot of potential. It needs a good editor though. A few inconsistencies yeah, but mostly for getting rid of some of the stilted writing, the long info dumping bits in the middle of conversation, and addressing the reader. All of this together and I just don’t have the mental energy to work my way through it all.

I think this is the authors first book though so I’ll definitely try them again in the future because I can see the potential here.

May contain some spoilers [but I will try not to discuss plot details]

The story wasn't bad. I kind of enjoyed the plot. But there were times when I had a hard time reading it.

From what I have seen, this is one of the author's first works, not seeing many on their page and only finding three here on GoodReads and Amazon.

There didn't seem to have been a proofreader for this book as I found many grammatical errors, names spelled differently between mentions [Example: Tyler and Tylor], characters knowing names of other characters before being introduced [Example: Harmony knows Cindy's name without anyone speaking it after stating she never met the girl], among others.

And speaking of that introduction scene between Cindy and Harmony, when Cindy gets a bit too close to Jax, Harmony, naturally, lashes out and attacks her. At this moment, she claims she is in the zone. Normally, in this situation, they would be oblivious to conversations around them. However, during this moment, it is as though Harmony and Cindy are frozen in time while the others in the room discuss whether they should stop Harmony from attacking. Once their conversation is done, time returns to normal for Harmony and Cindy and Harmony gives her threat. But it doesn't seem ... natural.

This isn't the first moment that feels unnatural. Each of the main four have a chance to give their POV. During their first one, they basically give the reader a full rundown of their life, why they are the way they are. These explanations just seem to come from nowhere and do not flow as well with what is happening in that point and time. During the moments when they are talking to each other about their lives, it feels forced, the topics not coming up naturally.

That's another thing. The dialog, while having some good moments, feel kind of forced and philosophical, if you get what I mean. There are also moments, during Harmony's POVs mostly, where it feels less like I'm a part of character and more like she is telling me what's happening, often addressing the reader, using "you" in places where it didn't need to be.

Next, let's talk about the characters themselves:

First, Harmony. I liked her. She was a strong character, built up by all the stuff she had dealt with in her hell of a life. However, there were some moments when she would mention being wary of men due to the actions of one of her foster fathers. However, when she is in front of the West brothers, that doesn't seem to be the case. Before this moment, she had one man in her life, that she remembered, who was kind to her. As it isn't stated if she had any issues with guys after reaching adulthood, it doesn't seem natural. She even mentions how she spent two amazing sex filled days with a guy. There is no talk of her having any issues trusting men again. Now with the West men, I get it, she's in her heat and isn't supposed to be in her right mind. But she seems completely sane when they have their introductions, while she's sitting on the lap of one of the men. [It could be that I am being too critical after reading "Hunting Adeline" and getting a front row seat to what kind of mindset someone could have in her situation. While Harmony never makes it that far, the fear along would do something about her trust in men.] Plus, there are moments when she will say she doesn't usually like something but is okay with it if it's the West brothers [sweat, jizz, blowjobs]. Many times it was stated that she knows little about the world of supernatural creatures but she mentions the few things she does know. But when those same things are told to her later on by other people, she acts as though she never knew it. I suppose it could be that she was just letting them explain it to her but still. Even when talking about her heat, when she is asked how much she knows, after we the reader get an info dump on it from her, all she says is the surface level stuff, leading the doc she is speaking to to explain exactly what she had been describing not too long ago. It gets a little frustrating.

Next, Blue, or Jay. Like with most reverse harems I've read, there has to be at least one guy who isn't 100% on board or has some issue [The Bonds that Tie: Nox, Ruthless Boys: Gabriel, Vicious Lost Boys: Vane, to name a few]. With Blue, he is dealing with insecurities brought on by his older brother being tapped to be Alpha, plus his first love betraying him. He sees himself as second best to Jax and that continues with Harmony in the picture, even when she shows she sees them all equally. I get it, insecurities can cause people to see what they fear, the believe that's how things are even shown the truth. I get that, I've dealt with that myself. This book is only 250 pages and covers the span of about a week, give or take, judging from the times mentioned. That doesn't give a lot of time to really focus on much and causes everything to feel rushed, particularly with Blue's insecurities about being with Harmony.

Next, Jax. Jax is the typical Alpha on the outside; controlled, level-headed, calm. On the inside, he's dealing with a lot. When he was given the role of Alpha, it had been drilled into him that he had to be responsible as a teenager so he didn't get the chance to really grow up naturally. After Harmony comes into the picture, we get more of who he is through her and then exposition from others [this happens with all the brothers]. I feel like, because he had to grow up so fast, he didn't grow as he was meant to, mentally. There are moments when he acts like a teenager, despite stating he is thirty by the time we start the book. Not to say this isn't a bad thing. He deserves to let loose every once in a while. He is still a great leader in the context of the book and trusts his brothers to do their parts when he needs them.

Finally, James. James was confusing. Sometimes, he would say it took him a while to find his place in the family and other times, the reader would be told that he had been the "funny one" since they were young, always the one to bring a smile to someone's face. This isn't the first time we get conflicting information but, again, this book didn't seem to have a proofreader.

I'm not saying I disliked the book. The plot was great; the characters, while not fully clear, were fun to experience; and the world building was well thought out. It's clear the author had thought about how she wanted the world to be. While there were some things that seemed to go nowhere or didn't make much sense, it was still clear a lot of thought had gone into the world. It can't be said that this book was made for the sex as there isn't a ton of smut to be an excuse for the forced dialog and rushed scenes.

I would recommend this book, just be warned of the errors found within. I feel like it should be touched up, things corrected, but overall, the book is pretty good and held my attention. I do plan to read the other books that are a part of this world for curiosity's sake. Since the men who play large roles in the other book have their introductions here and I quite like them, I will continue through the world. Though I will say you won't find them from this book unless you go to the "Readers also Read" list of books.

For some reason, this book the other two are on two different pages with the same author name. Unsure what happened there. The next book is "Claiming Her Vampire" if you read this review and decide to check out the series yourself. You'll have to read the synopsis on Amazon though as GR doesn't have it for some reason.

There are some trigger warnings for this book. While they do not happen to Harmony or those around her, they do happen to background characters and are only mentioned, never shown. Unsure if it is the same for the other books in this series but I will be finding out soon.

Had to DNF...I was having trouble staying in the story. The MC, multiple times, talks about not growing up knowing what she was and not knowing any shifters...but then she'll talk about shifter history/lore that she shouldn't know about and yet does...but in this world the general public doesn't know about shifters...so if she wasn't raised around/near any, didn't know any growing up, how did she get her shifter info? I've read way to many PNR with genuinely clueless shifters so it kept throwing me that she's have all this knowledge but claim she knows nothing...

3.5 stars!

Having read the later books in this series and then coming back to the first, this one just didn’t hit as hard for me. Harmony was a likeable character but a bit just over the top at times.

Jax, James and Blue felt like they had a lot of problems that Harmony had to handle. However, the story was fun and the smut was sweet. Not my favorite of the series.

I love this story because Harmony follows her heart, searches for her mates, and finds her happiness. This story teaches us that family is significant and that we must do everything we can to protect each other. Family is more than just blood but the people that give us love and loyalty through the good and the bad.

Harmony is intense, passionate, and fierce. She has lived a hard, lonely life with many struggles that have made her very protective of her loved ones. There's nothing she won't do for those she loves.

I love Penny and Harmony's friendship. They are absolutely adorable and so loving with each other. They know what is essential and protect each other's hearts.

Jax and his brothers are true alphas, protective and possessive of Harmony. There is nothing they wouldn't do for her. Their connection and love are magical, and it's incredible to see their love grow.

I was emotionally affected by the villain's abuse of power and how far they went to achieve their lousy behavior. It's so damaging and hurtful and creates unimaginable trauma for many. However, the author gave us a happy ending that cleanses all the evil away and brings hope and love. A fantastic must-read story.

Oh boy. There were a lot of reasons I didn’t care for this but I’m just going to go over the main one.

These guys sucked! They had been waiting to find their mate. They wanted to love, protect and care for her. But I found that even though they took care of her physically and financially, emotionally they were awful. It seems like it always fell to her to deal with their issues or insecurities. At one point she tells them all her traumatic backstory and she ends up comforting one of THEM! Because it was so hard for HIM to hear. Wtf? They ignored her constantly when she told them not to coddle her. That she had been taking care of herself for a long time but they didn’t want to hear it. It just felt like they had an idea of what they wanted in a mate and she had to deal.

Oops..

It was pretty bad☹️ The storyline felt deja vu, there wasn't any suspense, it felt flat. Some parts needed to be removed, there were many useless parts, made the text cumbersome. There wasn't any originalty, except maybe the panther shifting things but it isn't the first book talking about it.
Anyway, it's just my opinion considering this book is high rated...🧐

What if you found your fated mate? What if you had three of them? That's what happened to Harmony. And boy, are they perfect. All together, they bring whatever you might need.

I loved the dynamic of Harmony and her mates. But the book isn't just about that, and so much more unravel as you learn about Harmony's past.

I definitely recommend to anyone who loves paranormal romance!

I enjoyed the story but there were a LOT of errors. Author would be in the POV of one character and seemed to forget and had them mentioning themselves in 3rd person. Lots of grammatical issues but those are easily overlooked. I think it needs a good run through with a good editor and it would be perfect. I liked the MFC. She was pretty badass. The ending did feel rushed but it was still alright.

REVIEW:
Finding Her Panthers is the first book in the Embracing the Bond series as well as my first book by T. D. Edwards. It's been a while since I read a paranormal romance with shifters which I'm happy to have found this series on TikTok. Harmony has been on her own with no knowledge of the panther shifters that could be out there to help her find out more about inner panther. The moment that Harmony finally found her three mates at Club West after searching for a year was such a fun moment since she didn't expect it to be three brothers. Then the moment when Cindy comes into the office and Harmony immediately assaults her to make sure she knows that the West brothers are her mates. She made sure that Cindy knew she should never try to take her mates away from her or she will die bloody. The West brothers have finally found their mate though for them it is both such happy news but each brother has their personal issues to work on if they want to make sure their new mate falls in love with them. It was a fun and rocky journey to read with a lot of sad background moments for Harmony that she had to deal with in her present. I'm excited for the next book!

Harmony is strong independent rare black female panther. She had a hard life growing up and at a young age shifting for the first time she did not know why. Jax, James and Blue are alpha black panther brothers but Jax is the head alpha.

Gosh I got so giddy they they all meet for the first time at West Club 😍

There was slight OW drama but it did have a past with Harmony. The plot twist was crazy wow!! I’m glad Harmony got all the answers she was looking for as to why she had to grow up in foster care.

Blue is my favorite brother. I wish Harmony had more time with him and more POV for him. Jax and James are equally great but Blue I loved him the most.

This book could have been longer. There were some things I wish were mentioned in the book. I wanted Harmony to meet the brother’s parents. How was Penny coping after the kidnapping (there was a little chapter but I wanted more).
Penny has a book which I look forward to reading. She going to get her wish with multiples😌 *blow on her c!it*🤣

I also love how this book introduced some of the characters in this series. I can’t wait for Rykers book which is next book 2 😍 His character was fun.

Only complaint was there were a lot of grammatical errors. I had to re read a time times to make some part make sense.

Do NOT wait like I did!

The one thing I hate about an endless TBR is that books that should have been read a long time ago get moved down the list. THIS is one of those books.

I love this story so much. From the first bit I was hooked and couldn’t read through it fast enough. Harmony has a hard life. She’s been through some things. Luckily she found Penny. Her friend/sister. Penny is the only person Harmony has ever been able to share her secret with and can fully be herself around. I love this relationship. It is true friendship. It’s not often you see this in romance as the focus is always on the couple. But here we got to see the lengths Harmony would got through for Penny because in a lot of ways Penny saved her.

And then we have our guys! The West brothers, Blue, Jax, and James. They all have their own personalities and you can’t help but want them all. Lucky Harmony doesn’t have to choose! Blue was my favorite out of the bunch but all of them are perfect.

Throw in some fun background characters, (Ryker 😍 the Vampire King and Kieran a wolf shifter from another pack), and an amazing story line. I can’t wait to read both of their stories.

Oh and let’s not forget the spice! While there are a couple group activities I personally liked how it was mostly kept personal between just 2 of them. It made it more intimate for lack of wording.

Read your trigger warnings!!!

Happy Reading Ya’ll 🖤

I really hope the rest of this series comes to audio soon! The full-cast narration was absolutely fantastic. Each voice actor did a superb job bringing the characters to life and made for an incredible listening experience. This is a shifter, why-choose romance featuring a trio of panther brothers: Blue, Jax, and James. Harmony, the heroine, has had a rough upbringing-bouncing around foster homes, enduring abuse, and eventually surviving on the streets. Each brother brings something unique to the relationship: one is a cuddler, one is the alpha, and one is the protector. While there is spice, it’s tastefully done. There’s no over-the-top, kinky foursomes here. It’s more about tender moments, a lot of watching, petting, and one-on-one connections where each relationship builds individually. I especially loved the vampire introduced in this story! There's a great lead-in for him to be the focus of Book 2, and I’m already excited for more. The storyline itself is intriguing, and the steamy scenes are spicy without being cringey or overly graphic. Ultimately, this is a beautiful story of Harmony finding love, acceptance, and a forever family with her panther mates. Highly recommend! And fingers crossed we get more audiobooks in this series soon!

Faded mates romance

I have had this book on my TBR for a very long time and finally got around to reading it and oh my God it was amazing. This is the first installment in a sixth book I believe series. It is very spicy why choose/ reverse harem. The way the author tells the background in such detail without it dragging at all for all four main characters that are the love interest, including several people that aren't any form of love and trust is absolutely breathtaking. The female main character has had a very hard life but always tries to keep moving forward with the help of her sister and through the process finds not one but three true mates and a long lost brother. They go through so many turmoil. This book has suspense action. A little bit of Gore done in a very nice way that even anyone that would be really affected by it wouldn't be issued. I don't think. This is probably my first five-star read of this year. I can't wait to see what the rest of the series holds.

It’s possible that I would have enjoyed this if I was younger..?

As is, it rushes through all the relationship developments and conflicts.
Sometimes what should be several chapters, is introduced and resolved within a couple of pages.

The plot is almost nonexistent for 3/4, being mostly taken up with relationship details, repeated waffle, and teasing details of the plot.

I kept reading (mostly reading, or skimming) for the world building, and in hopes the plot would make it worth it.
Sadly, once we did focus on it, it was detailed and resolved within a chapter.
A books worth!

The dialogue is very juvenile and stilted in places. It fails to flow believably for the most part, but is readable.

I struggled to seperate the characters, and got lost with who was talking at times.

This is B1, so it’s possible the series improves, but currently, I’m gonna search elsewhere, maybe trying again when I have no other books to read. 🤷‍♀️

I am always down with a fated mates book, but this one had some plot holes and at times felt like the author just threw every thought she had at the wall to see if it would stick.
Spoilers.

We get a long lost brother, a grandfather who actually isn't but somehow looked exactly like her grandfather that kills her family due to sexual obsession? Then we get a child abuse "family" who is traumatized and broken because of this man and a past foster care father. Because that trauma dump wasn't enough we get a whole foster care background dumped into a 3 page monologue.

I also will critique I didn't think the mates got equal time. Maybe they did but I didn't feel like it was equal. Blue didn't even become a mate until 96 percent.

Overall it is an okay read but I wanted more and maybe a clearer story with all of her thoughts.

This story is cute. I base my ratings on the amount of joy I get from reading them. I would have rated it higher, but there are so many grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. They bother me. Even if it shouldn’t, that hurts a story for me. I have nothing but respect for anyone brave enough to put their art out into the world, especially if you are self published. But I think everyone should have a trusted proofreader. I’m available. lol

Harmony is a good character. She’s had some major difficulties in her life. She hasn’t had very many people in her life love her unconditionally. She’s ready to find her mate. She’s surprised to learn she has more than one.

I like Harmony’s mates too. I think there’s potential to unlock more of their personalities if the book were longer, but I appreciate the length. (That’s what she said!) Sometimes you just need a spicy quickie!

LOVED. Must read for steamy multi mate romance.

I’ve been on the search for multiple mate romances and was so excited to find this. There are quite a few spelling errors/grammatical errors but overall I was able to fix it in my head as I read along. The story/ steamy scenes made it worth it and I enjoyed the interactions and attention between the main characters. The girl best friend was everything to me and I wish every female lead had one. I do think the back story from the characters was rushed and I wish it was expanded over more chapters or even into a second book, but to me it didn’t pull away too much from the story-made it nice to hear all sides. Highly recommend!

Conflicted

Did I enjoy the book ? Yes, very much so. Cliche I know however there's a but. I don't think it's necessarily going to spoil anything. This is a fated mates story. I just was not happy with the order she marked her mates, among a couple of other things. Blue I feel that his time with her to mark here wasn't as comparable. I think I missed it somehow when she actually bit him. When he marked her was so rushed. He didn't really get many pages if that makes sense. It's just my neirospicy brain fixated on that. I still recommend this book. I loved it otherwise. Also it is a reverse harem. There are no barbs or special peens. It's spicy and full of plot. Can't wait to start the next one.

DNF - quit at 15%
The writing style is very choppy, making it hard to get into the story. There are definitely messed up things that a good content editor would have found (like right after she finds her mates, they say they’ll stay in the rooms above the club to see the doctor the next day, but then they leave to go to their cabin outside of the city). I feel like this author needs to work on her craft more to make a story flow better in order to get a reader more entrenched into the story and really want to read about what happens to the characters.

At my age (63), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

This took me way too long to read; i almost quit trying but i'm too intrigued with the vamp & i know the next book is about him so i really only finished it for the next book's sake. This story has so much potential, but the writing is just not good. Absolutely everything - all the way down to a mundane & rudimentary conversation that doesnt actually mean anything - is fricken spoon-fed to you. The dialog is juvenile. There's absolutely no character development & the relationships come on so fast it's just unbelievable. Not to mention they need a new editor - the amount of typos & grammatical errors was exhausting. Do not recommend.

Overall, an enjoyable read!

The overall flow of the story has some hiccups, but for the most part it fits together pretty well. The storyline was enjoyable and has plenty of spice to it!
I felt like it was actually pretty relatable with character development, they seem to make progress and then two steps back.
The process of finding her mates led to quite the adventure, a lot of suffering, some crazy but somewhat predictable plot twists, and a conclusive HEA.
Overall this book was an enjoyable read, and I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good shifter why choose romance!

Started out promising but went in a different direction than I expected. It was cute and very sexy. Not to mention the three hot panthers. I like how they are all alike yet different. Harmony is the one I don't get. She's too whiny but I guess it's natural since she had a rough life and don't trust well. But you would think she would resist them a bit more because of her lack of trust. Hmmm.... Anyway the plot was really messed up and I don't know how I feel about it. The ending was too rushed. Overall not bad

Fantastic Read!

T. D. Edwards is a new-to-me author. I wanted something different to read. And this definitely hit the mark!

At first, I felt it was slow going… but then it wasn’t JUST about finding her mate and then I could not stop reading. I was up until the wee hours just because I had to see what would happen next. T. D. Edwards did not disappoint. In fact, I have purchased the rest of the series.

Thank you T. D. Edwards for your fantastical imagination and all your words.

The concept of this story was beautifully executed! The characters and their backgrounds really pulled me in from page one. I typically don’t read a lot of romance, but this book might have turned me into a fan. The intimate scenes were fun and spicy. The passion between the characters was wholesome and at times, cozy. But there is good action and conflict that made me want to read the whole book in one sitting. Great word flow that kept my interest! I truly enjoyed the story as a whole and plan on reading the rest of the books in this series.

I really enjoyed this one. There was the possibilities for more spice but it never showed up, dang it. The story was good though. The protagonist knew what she wanted and didn't fall pray to holding back. The 3 men, Blue, Jex, and James fit all she ever wanted and she fit what they wanted. Of course there is the jealous villainess who wants what is not hers to take. Someone is after her due to her breed and there not being many of them. She's a bad ass and her men love that about her. But she knows when to be soft too.

Five stars!!

I really liked this book, the way the brothers would tease, and be there for each other was entertaining. Then, the way they were so understanding and loving with Harmony. Also, having all of their points of view was great. The sex scenes were very hot and sexy. I enjoyed the twist in the story, did not see that coming. Lastly, I really liked the secondary characters, looking forward to their stories.

Must read!

If you like characters who overcome all odds to become stronger in the end, you will LOVE this story. Nothing gets in Harm's way, as she battles demons from her past making her feel inadequately equipped to handle what the Fates have given her.

Nothing can stop fated mates and this author proves it. With three distinctly different panther shifters, each devastatingly hot in his own way, this story covers every fantasy a reader could ever have.

Awesome book!!!

Love this book!!! You have a beautiful woman who had a very hard upbringing and she also had to hide that she was a panther shifter too. Then she smells her mate and goes to find him but instead she has three mates. They are very protective of her. The author knows how to grab your attention and you will never be able to put down the book until you finish!!! Great book!!!
