Abigail thought she achieved the ultimate fairy tale. Handsome movie star meets small-island hotel employee and sweeps her away to his glorious Hollywood mansion. Everything about Carson Levin seems too good to be true… until she steps inside his home.
Every inch of it is just as his sex symbol wife, Taira Anderson, left it before her fatal car accident. But the oddities don’t end there.
A presence wanders the halls. High heels clicking over the floor. Mysterious splashes in the pool. The bath filling with water without a soul in sight.
Something or someone is trying to send Abigail a message. But is it a warning… or a threat?
J.S Ellis is a thriller author. She has a degree in creative writing, English literature, and digital marketing. She lives in Malta with her fiancé and their fur baby Eloise. When she’s not writing or reading, she’s either cooking, eating cheese and chocolate, or listening to good music and enjoying a glass of wine or two.
Let me start off by saying this was a quick, entertaining read. Abigail is swept away into the world of the rich and famous. She feels lucky to have found the man of her dreams. As she settles into her dream life, strange things start to happen. Is the threat real, or is it all her imagination? This story reminded me of one of my favorite books, Rebecca. Unfortunately, this book missed the mark. The ending was somewhat predictable and rushed. I felt that one part of the final twist was insensitive and expressed a questionable opinion. I have read other books by this author I have enjoyed. I had considered three stars until the viewpoint expressed at the disappointing conclusion. ⭐️⭐️
Thank you BookSirens and Black Ink Press for my ARC.
I do feel quite bad leaving such a low rating, but it would have to be 2 stars. The good bit: I finished the book in one sitting, an evening with a book, which was as enjoyable as always. I felt like the book was very odd, the pacing (and time movement) was way off. Also, the characters were not well fleshed out and I did not understand their motivations, as well as sudden changes in characteristics. The paranormal/ghost aspect really did not pan out to be much of anything, so I am not sure if it added anything to the story at all. As for the big reveal/twist - I really felt let down by it and not surprised at all. I did enjoy the small look into Malta and the historical bits and descriptions! All in all, it was a no for me.

What would you do if a handsome rock star swept you off your feet and whisked you away to a life full of elegant parties, lounging days where you did not have to lift a finger, and...the ghost of his dead wife? This was essentially the premise of 'Till Death Do Us Part' by J.S. Ellis. Our heroine, Abigail, is working the tedious and unfulfilling job of a hotel cleaner in a hotel in her home country of Malta when she happens to meet a celebrity hiding away in one of the hotel rooms. Carson Levin is a famous artist, whose fame knows no bounds. After a few encounters, she finds herself married to this man and moves to America to be his wife. She should be happy; however several issues pervade her new marriage...and the biggest one? The house where Carson lived with his wife, where Abigail now resides, seems to be haunted by Taira! We follow along with Abigail as she navigates treacherous lies and secrets, that eventually culminate in a fight for her life.
I enjoyed this author's ability to bring scenery and descriptions to life; especially the scenes set in Malta. I liked that we got a nice overview of this exotic country, and it was not simply overlooked as part of the background for story building. I now know enough about Malta that I would like to visit it one day!
My biggest issue with this book stems from the fact that it needed a really good round of editing. There were many grammatical and sentence structure errors, and I am hoping that because this review is of an ARC copy, there will be further editing before the book reaches its final publication date. Maybe these errors do not matter to the average reader; however, they hampered me from enjoying the story because I had to spend too much time guessing exactly what the author meant to say.
I also found that the plot was rushed and chaotic, which made Abigail's and Carson's characters seem erratic and slightly insane. For example, one minute Abby is madly in love with her husband; the next she is afraid of him. I would have preferred if their personalities evolved naturally, instead of the fast pace we saw them changing dispositions.
With all of the above in mind, I give this a rating of 2 stars. The potential for a great story is there, it just was not fully actualized. The novel needed better pacing and some strong editing. Otherwise, it is a good mystery. I recommend this to persons eighteen and older as there are instances of profanity and milder descriptions of sexual acts. Trigger warnings include: violence and death of a loved one. If you enjoy mysteries with a twist, then 'Till Death Do Us Part' may just be the read for you.
*A great many thanks to BookSirens, J.S. Ellis, and Black Cat Ink Press for this ARC. It is important to note that I was under no commitment to provide a positive review, and all opinions are undoubtedly my own.*
I have read several books from J.S. Ellis and have loved every one of them. So, when I saw that she had a new book releasing, I knew I had to read it. This book was no exception.
Abigail lives on the small island of Malta and works in hospitality at a prestigious hotel. She meets a handsome man who seems sad and a little lonely. She isn't aware that he is a celebrity, a rapper and actor from Hollywood. As she begins to learn more about him through an internet search, he sweeps her off her feet. Soon she is visiting him at his Hollywood mansion and it's a whirlwind courtship and then marriage. Leaving her entire life behind she's not the wife of a celebrity and all that comes with that.
Carson Levin seems way too good to be true. Having lost his sex symbol wife in a freak car accident just 6 months prior, Abigail is feeling the pressure of being the plain Jane, girl next door. The house they shared is still very much her and her presence is felt everywhere, literally. Odd things start occurring around the house. Abigail can hear heels clicking on the tile, splashing out in the pool and the bathroom fills up with smoke several times. Is Carsons deceased wife, Taira trying to get rid of Abigail or even worse, is she trying to warn her of something?
For the most part I really liked this story. There were a few things that I had issues with but overall, the story is really great and not to be missed from J.S. Ellis. I received this book free from Booksirens for an honest review.
I received Till death do us part as an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This book was pretty good, there are some grammar mistakes and the language is a little off sometimes but the author is from Malta so English is probably not her first language. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I really stayed engaged in the book from the beginning and wanted to find out what would happen. The story line is great and I loved the haunting kinda feel to it from Taira's ghost.
Till Death Do Us Part was a fast read. I enjoy reading J.S.Ellis books. The blurb caught my attention. I found the story suspenseful but not riveting.
Told in first person by Abigail, the new wife and young bride, the reader is guided through a whirlwind romance and marriage. It is then that Abigail starts to question her choices. I felt there were gaps in Abigail’s narrative or scenes between others people that could have been further developed to make the story more compelling.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book from the author.
I love J.S.Elliss books and this one is no exception!
Till Death Do Us Part is a fast paced, twisty read which definitely keeps you gripped til the end, I devoured it within a couple of days and was sad to finish it!
I'll definitely be recommending this book to others 😊
This my first read from this author and I was entertained. The story is a fast paced read and I finished the book in short period of time. The author keeps the reader engaged into the story with some unexpected events. Will Abigail figure out what is happening? Will she survive this mystery? Great story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was an addictive read and really enjoyed it and wanted to see how it ended. Yes you do have to suspend believe but isnt that part of the fun of reading. Not going to give anything away but just loved the ending.

Abigail works in room service in a hotel in Malta, where she meets Carson Levin - a popular musician. A whirlwind romance later, they marry too quickly. Abigail is happy about how her life has taken a good turn, but she seems to be confused when people around her start sharing their thoughts on her marriage with Carson. This was an ok book, a little too far fetched sometimes.
The plot follows Abigail, a room service waitress from Malta, whose fairly simple life gets rocked by Carson (aka The Don CL), a musician, rapper and actor from LA. After a few days spent together, enjoying each other's company, Carson returns to LA, leaving a very smitten Abigail behind. The two plan on meeting in LA on Abigail's holiday. Thanks to a very convenient last minute change at her job, Abigail manages to fulfil her promise and fly to see Carson. And there... Let's just say that things go really fast from rainbow-and-daisy to psycho-and-crazy. They get married on a whim, without their family members, and Abigail moves in with Carson, as the new lady of his house. But how can our room service waitress feel at home in a house where the shadow of Carson's dead perfect first wife, Taira, keeps lingering?
This room still belonged to them. Their memento. Their sanctuary. Their temple, their place of worship for one another. The Hollywood power couple and I was the skeleton in the closet. Never had I felt this inferior and so utterly powerless.
Oh, it was a very interesting book, I must say that! I've read it in one sitting, even though the intrigue and epilogue were quite predictable. The beginning was very nicely woven, with great characterizations, and the author managed to picture Carson as being outright duplicitous. I mean, at the beginning he does seem perfect to Abigail, but us, the readers, we know better. After we find out about Taira, about Benjamin's beating, about him paying Abigail's rent, about the holiday in LA, tons of red flags pop right up. 🚩🚩🚩 From the point of their marriage, in my head were beginning to form two possible ways of continuing the story, which were going to define the book's type - thriller or horror. First option - the horror - Taira's ghost haunts their house because she was murdered by Carson, thus Abigail being in grave danger. Second option - the thriller - Taira was killed by Carson, who's a psychopath so smart that can make a recently married simple room service waitress go insane through creepy, but perfectly palpable actions, thus Abigail being in grave danger. Same outcome, very different trajectories. No, I won't tell you which one is it, but I must say that I would have rather enjoyed the other one better. Maybe the author will explore the other faces and sides of the dark side in future books!
A highlight I want to pinpoint is reffering to Abigail's introspection throughout the book, the best way to put the reader in the protagonist's shoes. Her vibrant, inquisitive and sometimes insecure thoughts give a movie-like quality to the book, we get to experience everything through her eyes, like we are there. Maybe that's why I couldn't stop reading, it's nice to feel so involved in the action.
How did my husband see me? Wholesome? Girl next door? The good girl? Too conventional? The sex appeal of a dead slug? A doormat?
I'm rating Till Death Do Us Part 3.5 stars (rounding at 4 ⭐⭐⭐🌠). I encourage you to read it if you are a thriller/ horror genre, it won't keep you on the edge of your seat, but it is so well paced and captivating that the time will simply fly you by. All in all, it is a truly gripping novel and I'm really grateful for being able to read it as a free ARC. My review was completely honest, I promise. Happy reading everyone! 🌻
J. S. Ellis is back in the saddle. I loved her new book Till Death Do Us Part. This author came out with her first book in 2019! Wow and she already has several books out. I've read five of them and just now checked out how many I have to catch up on. She is prolific and good. What more can you ask for?
This story was about 270 pages and I flew right through them. She caught my interest in the first few pages and I had a hard time getting anything else done until I finished this book. Don't you just love a book that grabs your attention and won't let you go? I do! Those are the books that are right in my wheelhouse.
Just real quick. A highly popular rock star goes to Malta to get away from it all. While there Carson Levin meets a hotel employee whose name is Abigail. He sweeps her off her feet. Needless to say she winds up in LA at his mansion that is where it gets kind of freaky. I really liked Abigail and there was not too much to know about the rest of the characters in the book. It was mainly Carson and Abigail. I liked Carson at first but, then later...not so much. You'll have to read the book to see what I mean. I don't want to spoil anything for you.
This is such an interesting story and you just can't help but enjoy your time with it. It is listed under Psychological Fiction and Ghost Thriller. This isn't a Sci-Fi book so you don't have to worry about that. I'm not too much of a fan of those and this one just has a little. The plot thickens throughout the book and you don't get the full story or the outcome of anything until the very end. Oh what an ending it was!
If you like Psychological Suspense or Domestic Thrillers you can't go wrong! If you follow me and like the same kind of books I do, you will be completely drawn into this book. Happy Reading!

J.S. Ellis is the author of psychological thrillers and suspense and published her debut psychological thriller in 2019, which was an instant success and received great praise from readers. She writes stories about obsession and betrayal. When she’s not putting her characters in uncomfortable, difficult positions, J.S Ellis likes to relax with her husband and their fur baby, Eloise. They live on the sunny island of Malta.
“I was there to serve, not to ask questions.”
Abigail is a housekeeper at a hotel. She’s good at her job, and she follows the rules. When a handsome guest shows an interest in her, she is shocked to learn he is famous. And he recently lost his wife. After a whirlwind romance, Abigail finds herself far from home, trying to navigate her new life. Except not all who die Rest In Peace.
This was quite the whirlwind. I don’t usually read paranormal/ghost stories, but I enjoyed this one.
The character development was good. And the plot moved along at a decent pace. The build-up was great, and the twist was well played.
I enjoyed Abigail as our lead; she was such a bold character. I loved how normal she was, how she was not flashy or pretentious.
I enjoy how J.S. tells a complete story without fluff. This was a quick read that held my attention. I enjoyed the thriller aspect, and I like that the paranormal wasn’t overdone or campy.
This is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a book to grab your attention and hold it throughout.
Fantastic book about a small town girl (Abigail) who thinks her luck has changed for the better when she meets and falls in love with a Hollywood star, Carson. He has looks, money, power, charisma and quickly sweeps her off her feet. She moves from her small island life into his Hollywood mansion, which though it's spacious and seems like a dream, quickly becomes a nightmare. What is going on behind the master bedroom's locked door? Why does she feel she is being watched in her empty mansion? What really happened to Carson's beloved wife Taira? How well does Abigail really know her husband?
So many questions in this thriller and the action moves quickly. I wish the characters were a bit more fleshed out as Abigail turned from scared to fearless at the drop of a hat. The paranormal touches and haunted house really added to the story.
I received an advance reader's copy and my review is voluntary.
Have read quite a few books from this author, which I have enjoyed and this book was no exception. This is a fairly quick read which held my attention to the very end. Suspenseful, had to know what was going to happen next. A rock star and room service attendant, their lives come together in the most unusual way. Two people from two different worlds, can they make it work? Abigail becomes obsessed with Carson's first wife, who supposedly died in a car crash. Is she going insane or is Tairas' ghost really haunting her, but why? Is she friend or foe? A surprising twist at the end.
Would have been a 5 star review but for the grammatical errors and some missed words. The author is from Malta which could be a possible explanation for this.
Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.
This is quite a quick read with only 268 pages but it packed a great story in to those pages.
I have been to Malta once and always wanted to go back but the authors descriptions have made me want to even more.
I like that the story got going straight away but also didn’t skip detail. Yes it could have been puffed out some but I don’t think it was particularly necessary. I like a quick read. The story engaged me from the beginning and I wanted to know how it would all work out. I felt for Abigail leaving her home and moving in to somewhere where she knew no one and there were creepy things happening in the house. I enjoyed the supernatural elements and found it to be a suspenseful story.
I will read more by this author.
Thank you to @author_j.sellis and @booksirens for a gifted review copy of this book.
An interesting and engaging book and the mystery was one that held until the very last of the book....However, I found the character development on all but the main character to be very shallow. Abigail, the foremost character,I found whiny and unwilling to engage and attempt to solve the mystery, preferring to sit and wallow in self pity while professing her love for her new husband but actually doing nothing to unravel the threads of what truly happened to his first wife. That made it very difficult for me to really like her or care what happened to her. A big BUT here, the book still was well enough written that it was enjoyable and held my attention, despite my desire to rap Abigail upside the head with a hard object! JMHO... Well worth a read....
I want to be as honest and clear as I can here. As a story it was pretty good. It reminded me of Rebecca and started out sweet. However, I did not connect with the characters at all. I did not like or hate them. I felt nothing. We don't get any glimpses into who they are as people. What do they like? We need more information about their relationships with other people. Also the assistant is there at the mansion the first day and then she never comes up again. That happened quite a bit. We never got to know the protagonist's parents or friends. We never learned more about her neighbors. She was just a victim from start to finish and I was not feeling that. and the guy? We get nothing about him except that he is rich and hot.
Til Death do us Part is an interesting story, starting off as a rags to riches tale before taking a darker turn. I wasn't sure, going into this, what sort of thriller it was but it's of a paranormal nature.
Another really important thing to note about this book is that it contains some triggers of DV & abortion. There are a number of typos in this story which I hope will be repaired before the release date. The dialogue was at times, stilted too.
Overall however, it was an intriguing plot, with an intricate and engaging storyline. It's not an 'edge of your seat' thriller so can certainly be enjoyed by a larger range of audiences.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Abigail thought she achieved the ultimate fairy tale a handsome movie star meets a small town island hotel cleaner employee and sweeps her away to his glorious Hollywood mansion everything about Carson Levin a famous artist seems too good to be true until she steps inside his home every inch of it is just as his sex symbol wife Taira Anderson left it before her fatal car accident but the oddities don’t end there I found this abit slow starting but it soon livened up was a really enjoyable read with likeable characters totally recommend I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sweet romance turns into a thriller with a touch of the paranormal but at best 3.5 stars Started out with an omen of bad things to come perhaps, but then cleverly switched to a Cinderella story: hotel room service girl becomes the object of attraction to a wealthy occupant. At this point I’m thinking this might just be a sweet romance. Wait and see! Unbeknownst to 27yo Abigail, none other than rapper, musician, songwriter and actor 32yo The Don CL finds her attractive and interesting. She is baffled. She’s been told that she is pretty but not enough to attract this Adonis. Then she does some online searching and finds out that his first wife died a tragic death. Now she understands that he is grieving. Right? Oh. My. Word. This is an intriguing thriller that kind of creeps up behind you and yells BOO! It would be so much better with a good editor/proofreader. Too many missing words, incorrect syntax and it needs a better transition. In some scenes it appears that it just happens with no prologue to anything. Often times very confusing. The story is good and I really liked Ellis’s “The Neighbor’s Cat” which had errors but nothing to this extent. This could easily be a five-star story with some better editing. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.
Thank you Book Sirens for the digital copy. The views are my own.
The book is fast paced, the chapters short and the pace quite crisp. I finished it in one sitting, even though it was a thriller, it wasn't too intense.
I enjoyed that the plot development was smooth and the flow unhinged but lacked depth in a few places. Abigail needed to be a stronger person and that was a bit of a let down. The book started out well, there was potential but in an attempt to make it fast paced, it fell flat in a few places. There was a lot going on and if a few more details or backstory about certain things had been given, it would make it a great thriller. That said, it was a fairly fast and binge worthy read.
I’m so happy that I was finally able to get this book read! It was a fast read that kept me entertained throughout. It is easy to see how Abigail could be swept up into the fantasy of being with a huge celebrity. I feel like it is every teenagers dream in life!
While Carson isn’t over-the-top controlling, he is just enough for Abigail to feel like something is out of place. There is a slight aspect of the paranormal at play in the story, and it sure helps to wrap it up at the end. The question that is answered at the end is who Carson’s deceased wife, Taira, is actually after in the story!
Thank you to BookSirens and J. S. Ellis for this gifted review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily!
Abigail is swept off her feet by a guest at the hotel where she works in Malta. After a whirlwind, innocent romance, she realises that this gorgeous American is rich and famous - and wants her! As she gets used to being with him, she realises something isn’t right- someone wants her out of his house.
I liked the premise of this book, but it didn’t quite do it for me. The scene setting in Malta was good, but the characters didnt feel fleshed out enough and I didnt connect with them. The storyline is good, and I liked the ghostly elements in it.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was emotionally attached to these characters by the end of chapter one and rooting for them. By the time I was halfway through this I was hiding from the world in my closet trying to find out what was happening and then BOOM!! Everything changes and I’m left wide eyed and open mouthed at the last chapter. Hands down LOVED this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Will be making this author an automatic buy from now on. Amazing!!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A readable story but the characters don't have much substance and seem, at times, a little far-fetched, if the love of your life died in a horrendous accident would you get married 6 months later????? The story didn't flow and there were grammatical and spelling errors, although this was an ARC so hopefully this will be corrected before general release. As a paranormal story this is definitely not creepy enough. Received an ARC from the author herself in exchange for an honest review.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Abigail thought she had the dream of every girl. She is swept off her feet my a handsome movie star recuses small island girl and they live happily ever after. Carson is just perfect and really does seem to perfect but Abigail ignores her suspicions. When Abigail is invited to his mansion she is taken aback! The inside is like a shrine to his dead wife Taira who died in a car accident. Strange things happen in the house and leave Abigail wondering if she made a terrible mistake.
At first, I thought this was a love story, and in a way it is, but that isn't all it is. This is also a story about a controlling man, a stubborn, naive woman, and a ghost. I almost didn't finish this book due to the 'love story' part, I don't do romance novels, but the title kept me reading. Where did the "Till Death Do Us Part" come into play? I must say I was entertained by the entire story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
