Three months have passed since fairy bounty hunter Olympia Carter chose herself at her vampire lover’s expense.
Leandra’s kill bounty has been listed for so long that it’s about to go international, and when top bounty hunter Allie Godden comes to Olympia with a proposal to find the vampire together before someone else does, it’s hard to refuse.
There’s a catch, though: they have to work with an infuriating ex-convict Seelie and an ancient vampire with old (and possibly romantic) ties to Leandra.
But now that Olympia has made enemies in town, one of them just might catch up to her before she has the chance to say goodbye one last time…or admit her feelings.
Lila Gwynn is a lesbian author (and avid reader) of sapphic fantasy fiction. In her free time, she can be found binge-reading indie books, casually playing video games, or occasionally writing. She lives with her wonderful butch girlfriend and their many cats.
A sequel to Kissed the Mark so you definitely need to read that first.
An action packed installment, but also a lot of heart and feeling involved too.
Our bounty hunter, Olympia, is struggling after the events of book 1, and yet professionally she is more successful than ever, burying herself in bounty hunter work, enough to make it to the #2 position. We see her team up with the #1 bounty hunter, and another fae with dubious motivations. My one complaint was this character was a bit too obvious, IMHO.
The humour returns once Leandra our vampire love interest also does, but so does extreme danger from new and old nemesis's alike. This is definitely more your book 2 'interim' sort of read, where you're finding out more about each player and their motivations, what makes them tick, as they gear up for more to come. I did definitely still enjoy it, but did feel the slightest lack of direction and information still being eked out a bit frustrating.
What I did really enjoy is Olympia opening herself up emotionally to Leandra. She's very much going through some stuff as she is trying to come to terms with her feelings, and expressing them. Which I enjoyed. Leandra and Olympia are hot and fun together, and seem to have a great connection you can't help but root for.
There's a shocking twist at the end, which means there's even more to get invested in for book 3, and I hope we don't have to wait too long!

Book 2 in the series from Lila Gwynn that must be read in sequence. Fae, vampires, humans, dashes of humor, magic, danger, gory battles and heat all continue to capture my interest. The rewards are adding up for Olympia but she still thinks of Leandra - what if! Along comes Allie another bounty hunter (also impressive in collecting rewards) with news that Leandra's name is about to go on the international bounty boards, they should team up to find her. Olympia struggles to find a solution to prevent an instant kill - working with Allie and ex-con Phoebus (who has his own motives) seems to be the only way but danger lurks and a mad cap scheme is planned. Patricia and a new character Dee/Diosa join the mix. Success, eventual reconciliation then chaos breaks out. The Council and Guild seem powerless. Nothing is as it seems, there's gore, revenge and betrayal, death then thankfully consuming love but at what cost? Book 3 can't come soon enough.

The story is set in Mayfair, Missouri, where multiple supernational entities and clans live in a semi-peaceful atmosphere. The timeline is set a few months after Kissed the Mark and Olimpia, our Unseelie bounty hunter teams up with Allie - 1st rank witch (you know - bitchy witch from the previous book) and Prometheus (irritating third-wheel-ex-convict-Seelie), in order to catch Leandra - vampire fugitive. There is also a mysterious old vampire with unclear motives.
I haven't read fantasy for a while, and I enjoyed this one for what it is - fun, fast-paced, urban fantasy with elements of romance.
Looking forward to pt3 - big cliffhanger disclaimer. 4.4
I LOVE IT! And the second book makes me love this series even more. Book one gives us the layout of the world-building, the characters, and the politics between different species. It's like an intro to this series, and the story's foundation is solid. So when the second book puts everything into action, everything runs smoothly; it’s such a fun read. And again, I also want to mention that I love those little quirky humor Lila has placed in the book. It delights my day!
I can't wait for the third book to release(hopefully not too angst for Olympia and Leandra ), and I'm also looking forward to Lila Gwynn's other books in the future.
(This is the second book from Olympia the Bounty Hunter, and it's not standalone. Book one, “Kiss the Mark,” should be read first to understand the events of this sequel.)

In this fantastic follow-up to Lila Gwynn’s “Kissed the Mark,” our favorite bounty hunter Olympia Carter has a lot to deal with between her sort-of girlfriend being on the run, and the vampire queen who has a vendetta against them both. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s a great read from start to finish.
Like in the first book, Olympia is sassy and no-nonsense as ever, with all the fun impulsiveness that comes from her Fae blood. She’s a character that’s brimming with wit, well-written and realized, who grows quite a bit throughout the story. We see her vulnerable side as she learns to work with the other magical residents of Mayfair, and comes to terms with her feelings for Leandra. Amongst all the violence and betrayals, “Falling for the Fugitive” is an endearingly sweet story about two head-strong women who struggle to let others in. Reading their journey, and thinking about where it’s going to go, gives me goosebumps.
Following on from 'Kissed the Mark', Olympia is alone with Leandra on the run. But their relationship has left an impact on her, and when Allie comes to her with a proposition, she quickly gets dragged into it all again. Not that she wouldn't have, anyway ^^
Very much in the same style of the first book, there is a lot going on as they get embroiled in the mess that is Mayfair and supernatural shenanigans, and Olympia and Leandra really are a great pair. Lots of action and twists again, the story engrossing and well told. Along with the cast of returning characters, there are some new ones as well, and the stakes are certainly raised this time.
Another great story, this one was also quickly devoured, the claws of the story sinking deep and keeping me engaged. Loved it, and looking forward to the final book in the series.
I liked some of the new characters we dive into with this sequel but really disliked others of them. I'm sad that if we're going to focus on this town and this world so much (instead of, say, more romance/sex) then it's not better world-building. What's the actual deal with Faerie? Or this town? Or how fae-powers work? What the heck is up with the council, or the witches, or Patrice? Just kinda hand-waving the explanation of "it's power struggle politics BS" is not satisfying. WHY? Eh. That's not really why I'm reading it. I'm on a work trip, this is easy/engaging for when the bumpy flight I'm on is mildly terrifying or when I can't sleep in an unfamiliar hotel room.
There wasn’t an interesting plot at all, and the main plot revolving around Leandra was resolved too quickly. The other plot points were also too conveniently resolved. The progression of the relationship between Leandra and Olympia was lacklustre as well, and the newly introduced characters didn’t interest me at all. It was very jarring and hilarious reading a reference to Cardi B’s WAP in a fantasy book. I am not going to pick up the next book in the series when it comes out.
I love the budding romance between Olympia and Leandra. The first half was a bit slow going but the last parts of the book seemed to progress at light speed. As usual some dumbass decisions were made causing a big mess. Other than the beginning part, Olympia seems extra useless in this book. It was a lot of fun still and has me looking forward to book 3.
Good, but not quite as good as the first one. The world and magic were as interesting as in "Kissed the Mark" and Olympia and Leandra's interactions as sexy, but the characters' motivations were very inconsistent and their logic not very logical. I did enjoy it, but it was a bit of a letdown after the first book. I hope the next one will not suffer from these flaws.
Olympia and Lauren are literally from two different worlds. When death magic vampires and life and nature magic fae collide, moreover when they love or hate, pieces of worlds are changed forever, some destroyed forever.
Love truly cannot conquer all - and then there are universes of hate, pain and death.
intense paranormal conflicts, intrigue, drama and action.
