Strangers in my Bed

Rate this book
It’s an amazing thing, being a wedding planner, when you’ve been dreaming of a big day of your own since being a little girl.

But it’s not so amazing when the love of your life leaves you for another woman.

My dreams have all deserted me, and I’m alone in a new town when I meet him. The stranger at the bar.

Anthony Bradstone is everything I ever wanted. A prince, right from the start. A shining star, successful and loving. Committed, brilliant, generous. Mr Perfect.

But the brightest stars have the darkest shadows, and Ant’s love comes with… conditions.

That’s how one stranger in my bed turns to several, and those several turn into a whole lot more.

I know that lines always blur when people fall in love. People’s depths get deeper, and their shadows get darker, and relationships can get a little… twisted sometimes.

So it’s just as well there’s someone out there who knows my prince well enough to help me untangle him.

They call Ant’s best friend the crusader for a reason.
I’m about to find out why it’s true.

Warning: This is a very dark romance. There are themes of coercion, conflicts of emotions, and difficult situations from the past.
Please proceed with caution.

1 Dirty Piece of Trash Stars ⭐

I read this book the entire time with a feeling of trepidation. I mean initially the romance was too perfect, our heroine too agreeable and our hero too good to be true. When Ant and Cass are declaring their love within the first few weeks of hooking up, I was nervous. Frankly I was just waiting for it all to implode.

Barely putting the pieces back together over a devastating breakup, Wedding Planner Cass is swept off her feet at a low point. And when the gorgeous Ant provides her with mind numbing orgasms followed with a courtship, even the most cynic would have fallen. Does it matter that our man Ant comes with certain requirements. I mean what's an extra few people in your bed?!

I’m desperate to please him, and hungry to be the slut he wants me to be, but I’m scared, and feel twisted, and filthy, and seedy.

Now to the truth. Please put your pitchforks away because I fucking hated this book. I feel angry, I feel distressed but most of all I'm so so disappointed. You're reading a review from a reader who would claim that Jade West is one of her favourite authors. But in this instance Strangers in My Bed made me uncomfortable.

“You’ll do whatever you’re told in this room. Be a perfect slut, or call time out and walk away. There’s no middle ground, understand me? My fantasies aren’t a joke. Give them the respect they deserve or stop pretending you fucking like them.”

If I was reading a dub con romance I'd get it. What I don't get is a manipulative asshole that actually creeped me out. I mean do not disguise coercion as affection or love. When a woman needs to drink herself silly through sex shenanigans because she feels like she will be dumped is out of order.

Although there was a happy ending, it was too late for me. What I read was disturbing and abusive. I'm all for kinky, creative sex with however many people but Strangers in My Bed was nothing like I was expecting. Be warned this is a twisted story with no romance.

Oof. Not good. I only finished because I've had no internet and this was one of my downloaded KU books 😭

Legit the ENTIRE book is about this guy (Ant) manipulating the heroine. He lies to her, blames everything on her and guilt trips her into doing everything and anything he wants, such as essentially becoming a prostitute (even though she didn't know the depth of his lies). He lies to her, to his friends, everyone.

Basically, guy and girl meet, she is straight out of a relationship so she's a bit messed up. They sleep together and he tells her over and over again that they have a connection. He says they'll get married, she's the one for him and blah, and she's all in because everything he says sounds like a fairytale. But then he shows her how he likes his gfs to be, which is basically gang bang her and film it. She doesn't really want to do it, but he coerces her over and over again, manipulating her into thinking it was her choice and that she likes it. He coerces her into doing things like getting a tattoo covered, resigning her job, having joint bank accounts, moving in with him, drinking, acting like she likes it for the cameras and the guys and blah, while also using lies and dangling marriage and babies and that it'll all stop when they get married, in front of her.

He has a friend that lives with him, who is basically the hero. He's a super good guy, though still hung up on his ex. I would've liked him if he had a backbone tbh. He's also being manipulated by the hero and is constantly guilt tripped too. Ant is an ass to him and makes ton of negative remarks about him too, but he always brushes them off because they're 'friends'.

The manipulation and guilt tripping became so repetitive and annoying. When I mean the entire book is the same thing over and over, I mean like 600 pages of the same thing. He coerces her, she fck guys, he starts getting meaner and more manipulative, guilt trips her into thinking it's her fault, so she blames herself then goes along with whatever he wants. Around 80%(that's like over 500 pgs in) we finally get somewhere. Hero(?) Starts liking her and is becoming a little more open minded to Ant's manipulation when he sees how the heroine is being treated and starts standing up for her. Ant gets jealous, tells them to have sex in front of him, in which they almost do and both really enjoy it, and Ant is mad because of that so he tells them to stop, calls hero a cheater and tells him to leave.

Ant tries to relocate hero, hero resigns instead and finds out Ant has been lying to him heroine and the whole job situation. He finds out Ant is the reason heroine had to leave her job (one of the guys heroine fcked was a client's fiance and Ant made the guy tell the fiance so heroine would lose her job). Hero finds out that Ant has been basically pimping heroine out and getting money from guys to Fck her which heroine didn't know. Hero finds out Ants mom was a prostitute because she had no money, and was manipulated and was pimped out and on drugs and everything which is exactly why Ant does what he does to heroine and the reason he attached himself to heroine is because heroine looks exactly like his mom did when she was a prostitute. Hero tells heroine everything and she finds out she's preggo (so it could be anyone's) and leaves Ant. Hero stays with her through the whole pregnancy and she asks him to marry her. Ant continues on with his ways. The end

Overall, a terrible book tbh. Same thing over and over again, and I just got so annoyed with how much the hero and heroine let themselves be manipulated so easily and how the end was so short and disappointing after all that. Waste of time. those 5 star ratings are lying outta their asses🤣😭

Five Flirty, filthy, and Fabulous Stars

I haven't read a Jade West Book; I didn’t love. Kudos to the author for always thinking outside the box. Love and lust are complicated. She writes perfectly flawed characters that will knock your socks off. It is pretty refreshing to have such a unique story.

My review will be very vague. You will not even get a synopsis from me. Here is my suggestion, go in blind and keep an open mind. I think you will enjoy the book on a different level; if you do, I still recommend reading the trigger warnings. This book is not for everyone, and that is okay.

Strangers In My Bed is an intense read that is gloriously filthy (I am waving my freak flag high and proud). It's full of twists and turns that is psychologically thrilling. It is also full of lies and manipulations. All is not what it seems.

Jade West is my one-click author. I would love to know how her brain works. She paints such a vivid and steamy picture. I have said it before, and I will repeat it. The author is the Queen of kink. Mic drop. This book will blow your mind—one of my top reads.

Strangers in My Bed is one of those books you'll either love or hate. It's not a conventional romance by any stretch of the imagination, and it's certainly not the story you think you're getting in the first half of the book. Thank God! Lol This is a story that you have to read all the way through to fully understand and appreciate.

If you know me, you know I'm always looking for something different. This is definitely that! It's unique in the way it's told, and the author is brave for writing it in this way. She had to know it wouldn't work for a lot of people, but she took the risk. I admire her for that.

Whenever something is polarizing, it always makes me curious. I'm not a person that takes the opinions of others as gospel, and if something is interesting and/or provocative enough to warrant extremely different opinions, I want to read it for myself to see which side I fall on. I encourage everyone to do the same regarding this book and any other book by an author that dares to color outside of the lines.

Fans of unconventional romance, this one's for you!

As a wedding planner, Cassandra (Cass) Emery’s work life was surrounded by love and happy ever after. Her personal life was anything but until she was swept off her feet by Anthony (Ant) Bradstone and introduced to a whole new world of passion. But her path to happiness was not as simple as it seemed.

If you plan to read this book, be careful when reading reviews because this book is best enjoyed blind. So I will not say much about it.

His possessive tone is hot, but it’s also heavy. He leans across the table for my hands, and that possessiveness gets even heavier.

The story was not what I expected, and I loved it that way. If you expect the author’s signature filthy scenes, of course, you’ll get that. But the subject matter was also heavy, and the characters were intense. I felt pain, anger and sadness throughout the book with a standout character I will not forget.

Strangers in my Bed is a story of obsession, self-worth and deserving love. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a dirty and dark story.

Note: I love the epilogue. I wouldn’t be happy any other way.

*Thank you to Social Butterfly PR & the author for an ARC of this title.*

This is going to be a very hard book to review. I found it to be very powerful and moving in a lot of ways. There is a deep and subtle message that pulled at my heart and left an impression on me. I am still trying to sort through my feelings on it and decide how I want to share about it.

In regards to the story going on, without spoilers, Cass is a wedding planner and is having a rough time. Her ex-boyfriend had left her for another woman and just got married to said woman. Cass had dreams of a husband and children and now to watch him starting that life with someone else has left her feeling sad. So when she meets a handsome, older stranger at a wedding she planned, she is more than happy to lose herself in him for the night.

When said stranger begins to court her and send her lavish gifts and their connection seems beyond her wildest dreams. He is dominant and caring and has some passions they may frighten but intrigue her. Things move very quickly and she is now living with Anthony. So he has some wild fantasies... she likes them and they make him happy, so everything is perfect... right?

Since this is a non-spoiler review, I don't want to say everything that we are getting into with this novel. I do trust Jade West to tell me stories that I wouldn't let any other author. She has introduced me to topics and situations and desires that I never knew existed in the past, so I was/am willing to read anything she writes. Cass and Ant were a story I could not have predicted... and if you are willing to see what this story is about.. go for it.

However, I would not be doing my job as a book reviewer if I don't throw out a few warnings. You may have noticed that I didn't rate this book. I will have to rate it on Amazon & Bookbub, but I haven't done so here. That's because, I don't rate books that aren't Romances. And this book... it's not a romance. There is an HEA. Two people do end up together and live happily ever after, but not in the way you would think. I can't go into further details without spoilers, but this book has some interesting twists.

This book not being a romance did not lessen the impact it has on me, but it is also unlike anything I have ever read by Jade West before. If you like a book that is a good mind-f*ck, this would totally be your schick. As I have said, I can't stop thinking about it but if you are looking for a romance, even one that is a dark or twisted romance... this is not it.

I look forward to reading whatever Jade West puts out next. Because her talent is undeniable.

Not sure where to start with this one.

This is probably the most disturbing book I've read from JW. Not because it seems her kinkiest; it's the manipulation and the psychological element behind the story that makes it heavier.

⛔⛔⛔ Proceed with caution, spoiler quotes ahead. ⛔⛔⛔⛔

Ant, the anti-hero, was vile, manipulative, and abusive.
Cass, the h, was a dazzled girl who couldn't believe how lucky she was, thinking she'd found Mr Perfect. *snort*🐽😭

Negatives:

There was no relationship development. There were manipulations, expensive gifts, arranged gangbangs, emotional coercion and declarations of love too soon.

“You’ll do whatever you’re told in this room. Be a perfect slut, or call time out and walk away. There’s no middle ground, understand me? My fantasies aren’t a joke. Give them the respect they deserve or stop pretending you fucking like them.”

The story left me frustrated and furious because how could Cass be so clueless?

"It's nights like these that you truly show how much you love me, sweetheart. I know taking cock like a slut is more about my needs than yours, no matter how many times you come like a dirty bitch, and I respect that, baby. I love that. I treasure it for everything it is."

If not for his actions, at least for her own, where sex with others was a concern. She had to get drunk, every time, to face what Ant wanted from her in the kinky room.

" Like I said sweetheart, the De Chante is there for you. Drink what you like, it's your choice. Just make sure you're ready like a horny bitch and in position when I open that door again."

Don't you think there is something wrong here, girl?

There were so many 🚩🏴‍☠️🚩 red flags 🚩🏴‍☠️🚩 from the moment they met. Too many, in fact, which made me doubt Cass's character execution. And it's the reason I won't give this story a higher rate because her naivety didn't convince me in some parts.

A rant about a secondary character. 📢📣🥁
Janie. Ugh. Janie was a character that irritated the hell out of me with the whole "you're so lucky" speech all the time and "I need to find one of those too". Why couldn't she be just happy for her friend? Moreover, why force a situation between her and Ger when he clearly was not interested?

Positive:

✓Only a few authors can surprise me lately because they don't follow the safe road to success when writing their stories. They are bold and fearless in facing the backlash of romance readers. And I am grateful for it, for those few authors out there that keep me on my toes, taking me out of my comfort zone, and most importantly, taking me out of the tedious cycle of same old same old.
✓We do get a HEA.

⭐️ one star -

Well, this is one of those books that kept coming up in my news feed. I read any and all types of romance, including erotica, and reviewers I follow intrigued me with their synopses of this train wreck 😂

This is erotic gone wild. Completely off the rails, and in no way should be confused with a romance. It’s everything the one and two star reviews say, and more. Prepare yourself for full-on, straight up, porn - and not even good porn. I was not turned on, I did not see romance, and I remain disgusted a full twenty four hours after completing this unholy hot mess.

Definitely do not recommend. Maybe there are some erotica readers out there that find this niche erotica sexy? Idk - it’s definitely not for me.

……………….

* mild spoilers follow……….

………………..

I think I have read Jade West before, but I don’t remember it being this hardcore. All I could think of was an event promoted by Howard Stern (yes, I’m a fan) back in 1999; that was billed as “The World’s Biggest Gang Bang”. Anyone else remember that? I stomached maybe five minutes of that out of morbid curiosity, then was completely disgusted. Well, that memory came rushing back to me with this book. Thanks for that, Jade, NOT. 😂

………………..

* end mild spoiler

……………….

In sum, I don’t think I’m the audience for West. Nope, this hardcore stuff is not for me. I think she’s a pretty good writer; just didn’t care for the subject matter, nor any of the story. The nonexistent romance didn’t help either.

Also, anyone that follows my reviews knows that I can’t handle domestic violence, and that was present here, but it’s more in the form of verbal and mental abuse and gaslighting. Didn’t care for any of that, nor the weak heroine who needed to grow a backbone stat.

I ended up more concerned for our h’s physical health and safety and that completely took me out of story and down a long loop of std consequences. Not sexy.

One poorly lit star. Save yourself. If you want erotica with a twist, go pick up Zoe Blake or Kitty Thomas.

Well, that was unexpected and unusual. Not quite the romance I expected, FILTHY, but not in the Jade West way I expected. Is it possible to both love and hate a book all at once? It's thought provoking and unsettling, and while there is a beautiful (and loved by me) HEA, this isn't really a romance for much of this story. At times I felt like this was a 5 star read, and other times I wasn't sure I could finish. I think that's the intention, though. And, it's certainly a page turner.

It’s hard for me to talk about my feelings on this story without sharing spoilers, and I do believe the impact of this story comes down to actually the way it twists and evolves. How your expectations pivot, how the story you think you are reading morphs into something else all together. But I caution you to carefully read the blurb and warning, because this is not at all the story you’re anticipating. In fact, at the end, I don’t even really think it is a romance story at all- though it certainly has a HEA and a romance to it.

What I appreciated about this story, and Jade’s writing in general, is how she delves into topics, relationship dynamics, desires and kinks without abandon. In ways that challenge me and incite my curiosity, my own interest. While her books are undoubtedly erotic, and deliciously so, her smut has always been substantial- there is meaning behind it, purpose. The desires and needs of her characters sexually are always implicity tied to the fabric of who they are as characters and often a catalyst to characters finding more about themselves, at times more fuffillmnet, and other times perhaps unanswerwed questions. Strangers in My Bed delivers on that Jade West experience- but in a wholly unexpected way. Creatively, Jade does something very different with the erotic and smutty side of this story- the role is plays to these characters is something I’ve not experience with her before. Cass and Ant are complicated and messy and intriguing- until….well, that’s the point of reading the story. But Jade explores and aspect of exploring sexual desires that is a question with a very different resolution in this story.

SO intellectually and spiritually, this story will impact you. It raised questions for me, made me think. Unsettled me, just in a different way. But, my rating really comes from where I struggled- namely, that this did not feel like romance to me. Again, we have an HEA, but the crux of it comes down to proportionality. Jade is telling many parts of Cass and Ant’s journey. We spend a lot of time in a narrative that ultimately ends up feeling more like a red herring….twists and all that jazz…and not enough time in meaningful resolution, or with other key story breaking characters. Again, hard to not spoil, but what felt absent to me in terms of the pacing was the actual LOVE part of this story- it comes, just far too late for me, and it feels a bit hard to invest a lot of story time in everything that came before that for the actual love to be short changed. That said, that’s likely an artistic choice- this is more Cass’s story than anything, and learning to love herself and be okay with what she needs and face her insecurities and desperation to be loved and cared for is the heart of it all. And truthfully, it’s a bit jarring- as someone who has longed for those things and perhaps made compromises or decisions through that lens verse the lens of my own expectation and need. So again, an impactful story.

I’ve thought about this story for days after reading it- so if you want something that burrows its way into you, look no further- this sticks. But if you’re here for some good ole edgey smutty Jade romance, perhaps tackle another, because romance this for me it was not. But props to Jade for taking such interesting creative risks, and for her always brilliant writing.

1.5 "Master of Puppets" Stars

....Nooo...this doesn't work for me... I have no issues with kinky smut, but this was just manipulation... I lost count of the champagne bottles consumed by Cass, so she can be able to fulfill Ant's fantasies. It became repetitive. The was no affection or "love", just plain coercion.
The end was somewhat "happy", but still not good for me. Ant, just walks away scot free...

Cassandra “Cass” Emery loves her job as a wedding planner, but her happily ever after was shattered until a handsome and commanding man enters her life. Charmed by the adoring affection, Cass is so enamored that she is willing to push her limits.

“I didn’t think a woman like you would fall in love with a man like me. I daren’t have hoped we’d be in this position. Not deep down.”

Going into this book, I was expecting a certain level of erotic romance and it delivered on that aspect, but it also has darker themes. With Cass, there were so many moments when I was so frustrated with her decisions, but also remained so curious to see just where it would all lead.

As for the other main characters, they couldn’t have been more different and this contrast enriched the plot and character development. There were times when character actions made me shift a bit in opinion, but with the ending, it all came together.

Strangers in My Bed is a about manipulation and choices. This book would appeal to those seeking a multilayered dark romance with suspense elements.

NONE of the reviews had spoilers.

⏹What little scraps and pieces I gathered were-

#hs ex-bf of 10 years has left her for OW.
#the ex-bf gets married to OW.
#The heartbroken h meets the H (42) at a bar.
#They have a hot-n-heavy ONS.
#They begin a relationship , even though the h is a bit ..... unsure.
#The H is a next-level charmer. The whole sending-flowers-to-work-breakfast-in-bed stuff.
#The h moves in with him.
#The H has some...... weird kinky fantasies .
#All of which the h agrees to because she loves him.

🅾BUT.🅾

#The H is actually very manipulative.
#Idk how or what he did to be manipulative , but this is supposed to be a psychological thriller at 60%.
#One review mentioned that there is-
~Cuckolding.
~Gangbang.
~MFMMMM. 😳
~Sharing.
~Cheating.
😕😟One reviewer said that he has multiple personality disorder.

🌟And..... there IS HEA.... but ..... I think it's unconventional . Idk what it is , if any of you guys have read it , just lemme know, I am curious. But the HEA is DEFINITELY unusual and never-seen-before.

Let me preface this review with declaring my utter love for Jade West. She’s my palate cleanser, my naughty indulgence and erotica go to Author. Therefore, this review hurts me to write as I have such love and respect for this Author.

Not a lot shocks me or makes me feel sick to my stomach. I’ll read anything and I’ll go through complete darkness if there’s a promise of some type of light or resolution. You can usually tell.

In romantic fiction you’ll find all types of books where the romance can come in different guises. Some are disturbing, some are questionable till the last page and some are so dark and different, you can’t believe what you’re reading….but you’re gripped anyway. But they all have a form of romance or redemption. Whatever shape that may be.

Strangers in my Bed is not a romance and the reason I say this, is that the hint at a possible romance came too late and was glossed over into what I felt was an afterthought and an easy consequence for what I went through as a reader and for the length of time that it took to get there too. I wouldn’t even call it erotica. I suppose I interpreted it as an emotionless, sexually violent explicit psychological thriller. Therefore not what I was expecting from this Author.

I cannot count how many times I was taken out this story by my utter disgust at the main character. I just wanted it to end! It was horrific. And I never say that about a Jade West book.

The light came too late in my opinion, way too late! The evil manipulation and violent coerced sexual abuse of the heroine, well, it was dragged through almost the entire book until the light was rushed through after 11 hours of hard reading with only under an hour left to go.

The book was way too long and should’ve been cut down tremendously. It was unnecessary and quite grotesque in its repetition of manipulation and coercion. Then to be followed by a race to the finish line with loose ends left unresolved. I really didn’t expect this haphazard structure and finish from Jade West at all.

Also, on a last disappointed note from me; I would’ve loved for Cass to be THE ONE to realise her situation and be the strong one because she deserved to be and at no point did she want to participate in these violent gangbangs unless heavily under the influence of alcohol, feelings of guilt or wanting to please. It took another man to open her eyes. Why? I can’t help feel she could’ve been so much more than what she was, as she was a wonderful character. She deserved to rise like a Phoenix from her own strength.

This story was definitely not for me and I'm absolutely gutted!!!

Trust Jade to shoot the story straight outta stratosphere on a thermonuclear rocket, it zooms by all your senses, making you feel uncomfortable and yet you might find yourself panting for more.
No other author has in the History of EVER woven a love triangle in a gang-bang situation.

"Everybody has their dark side, including the brightest of the angels.”
“Including the sweetest Cassandra, with her gorgeous smile.”

It's one girl, countless strangers and three hearts all getting sweaty and wet on a rubber mattress, Fluids of all sorts flowing as one.
Sweat, cum, tears, spit, pee.
I've always believed the sinful decadence I indulge in, in every JW book, and there have been many, I have a permanent ringside seat in Hell right next to the devil himself. But if he's anything like Ant of this book......YES PLEASE
She's a writer of boundary stretching smut but I have found incredibly poignant sentiments in her books at every turn. Having read all her books, I love the thrill and body tingles I am promised and delivered in all her stories.
But I have to say this book took some really intense concentration on my part as a reader. Some scenes had me huffing and puffing a lot.
There's a sweet naive girl, Cassandra Emery from quaint little Buckle berry, is a virtual Cinderella swept off her feet by the dark prince, Anthony Bradstone.

"Yeah, he’s a dirty prince. No, scrap that. He’s a filthy one."

His shady desires hide a sinister intention, which he often camouflages with brilliant gems and fine wine & dine. Needless to say, she's not only blown away but she willingly walks in his den, eager to please him. All the while thinking how much she wants to see him happy.
Her soul becomes an offering, One piece at a time, for every scrap of affection off his table like crumbs, which Cass happily laps up feeling proud.

"I’m lying on a filthy rubber mattress, with four loads of cum inside me and a spurt of piss down my thighs, wrapped in the arms of the man I want to spend the rest of my life with and grinning like a fool."

My struggle with characters, Esp Cass was harder than most. Ant was Ant and the crusader in his nobility won my heart.
Typical JW book and please check your morals at the church door. Better still leave them in a pile in the corner at home.
Right where you'll dump your panties 🤷‍♀️

Jade West has written a profound story of manipulation, lies and deceit, but has polished it with the character of a crusader and doing what is right and just.
Cass meets Ant at a wedding she has planned and organized and this leads her down a path of fairy tale dreams and hopes, but Cass always feels like she should not ignore the tingling inside, the warnings of something being off and not quite right.
Strangers in my Bed was an extremely intense book, at times it was psychologically cringe worthy, at other times subtly questionable, but always with great impact to the reader.
Exceptional story!

Wow this was a lot of book, to jump back in the saddle with. At times I was swooning, only to realize I had made a mistake. I just couldn't believe some of the situations.

What will you do for love? This book has a lot of triggers and some heavy heavy sex scenes.

Jade West is a bold and edgy storyteller. I volunteered to read and review her latest release because I was very impressed with her brilliantly sexy and heartwarming performance with Bang Gang.

Cassandra Emery is a wedding planner who meets the man of her dreams while crying pitifully into her third glass of prosecco at an event. She was wallowing in self-doubt after being dumped by her ex-boyfriend of ten years. “Ant” Anthony Bradstone is handsome, wealthy, and has a gift for knowing what people want. He quickly becomes the centre of Cass’ world, lavishing her and her family with extravagant gifts. The catch is, “Mr. Perfect” has some very unusual tastes in the bedroom and the title of the book is only the beginning of the compromises that Cass will need to make in order to keep her man.

This book is about forty percent longer than Bang Gang, which itself was a pretty long book. This would be fabulous for readers who want more of the sexy times between Ant and Cass. Unfortunately, I realized fairly quickly that this book really wasn’t for me. Degradation isn’t my kink, but it is pivotal to Ant’s sexual satisfaction.

I appreciate a book that stirs up my emotions and lights a fire under me. I spent the entirety of the book violently hating Ant, who Jade West eloquently crafts into a malignant narcissist. I spent ninety five percent of the book repeatedly disappointed in Cass, who spinelessly guzzles up to three bottles of champagne each time she needs to drown out the sounds of her own conscience. I can’t recall the last time I felt such visceral dislike of both main characters. The final five chapters were a sigh of relief. Strangers In My Bed is daringly conceived and wickedly delivered!

This review is unrated, because I would not have chosen this book if I was aware of the content warnings. I am thankful to the author and Social Butterfly PR for the opportunity to review this ARC and join the blog tour.

I love a good Jade West book but this one wasn't my favorite. This is definitely not your usual romance book but I always like how different Jade's books are. It's definitely important to read the warning triggers in this book. While I was okay with the warnings, there were some elements that I didn't care for and definitely made me frustrated.

This book is definitely surprising in that I didn't think it was going the way it was. The last 25% of this book is where everything happens and I am so happy the ending happened the way it did. I was literally throwing my hands up at the interactions happening at the beginning of the book and wondering how Cass didn't see it but I also understand the situation.

This book definitely has the filthy aspect you would expect from this author and it definitely made the book way more interesting that it was. I was definitely hoping for the ending by the time part 2 happened and I'm glad it got the happy ending I wanted. The epilogue though left me with more questions and unsolved problems. The big issue was not really resolved so it left me feeling like what I read was all for nothing.

Overall, I felt like the beginning was so rushed and unbelievable then the story became long and repetitive with the ending where all the action happens but nothing really was resolved. This book was interesting to a point though with the twists but also felt at times like it dragged. This book might be a favorite for others but it wasn't for me. I do love this author and will definitely be reading her other and future books.

Thank you, Jade West, for always thinking outside of the box and blowing our minds with the stories you write.

I’m honestly speechless writing this. I don’t want to be one of those who give away the story because that’s no fun.

Cass is already fragile and heartbroken, so when she meets Ant, she is Vulnerable, and he is giving her affection and praise, and that’s something she is craving right now. Imagine being told all the right things and being wined and dined, but things are not always as they seem.

This book is filled with twists and turns, and you will be like, WTF at the second part of the book.

Jade West is QUEEN of kinky dirty spice, and she definitely gave us some SPICY scenes!

Ant and Cass’s story was an experience, and trust me; you won’t be forgetting this one.

Steamy but no chemistry between the main characters in part one. This romantic, wedding planner heroine was hungry for love after a disastrous, long-term failed relationship and met an older, investment banker of kinky tastes. But he is manipulative, comes across as so selfish..the sexual encounters were degradation but not the hot kind. It almost felt as if he was grooming her to like what she didn’t want to like simply because she wanted love.

Very lengthy, inordinately. Story simply failed to hold my interest. DNF.

I really don’t know how to rate this because it is a fantastically written book, that kept me in suspense but I hated everything that happened in the story! I found nothing sexy or fun. The spice wasn’t spice to me it was something else🥺 I was uncomfortable & sickened the whole time I read!

With all that said… I believe this story is written as not only an example of how easily someone can end up in a situation that seems “impossible” but I truly feel it is a story for survivors! ♥️
It also shows how predators can come in very handsome & respected packages. How everyone can miss a predator that is right in front of them.

As an ARC reader I was given a blurb & the knowledge that Jade wrote it! And I love the other books of Jade’s I’ve read! Even reading the triggers that are posted now, I don’t feel as if they make the reader understand these aren’t moments of darkness the triggers are for the entire story. It doesn’t let up. I also feel Coercion isn’t a strong enough term. To me it was rape.

As an escapist reader who enjoys dark romance this was not the story for me! Despite that I finished it had to know how it ended. The author is an amazing story teller!

Fuck. That was disturbing and dark as hell. All the TWs for this one but especially for noncon/rape repeatedly depicted on page.

Imagine It Ends with Us had a book baby with Verity and BA Paris’s domestic thriller Behind Closed Doors. That horrifying concept would pretty accurately portray the level of manipulation, gaslighting, and all around fuckery that happens in this book. And I’m not even referring to the group sex scenes - which were essentially rape - playing out on page. I’m talking about the painful level of emotional abuse endured by the main character for over 90% of this book.

I really struggled giving this even 4 ⭐️ - not that it’s not well written or a compelling story, because it certainly is! (Hence my rating, because it does deserve it.) But damn. That was not a fun read at all. Please make sure you’re in the right headspace before diving into this one ❤️

Strangers in my Bed by Jade West was one that I was so excited to read, but reality and fiction don't always pan out the way you intended them. I was planning on reading a romance story about a girl named Cassandra Emery, wedding planner extraordinaire, whose heart was broken by her long-time boyfriend, Jack. Jack cheated on Cass and married Sarah. Cass was so distraught that she left her hometown and met a stranger named Anthony Bradstone. Upon first impression, Ant seems like an actual prince, wine and dine, the best of everything, expensive gifts, wanting to know your friends and family, only to find out he's a liar and pimp! His idea of love was a prostitute's dream, and we're not talking about Pretty Woman here but down and dirty, straight porn with twists and turns.

This story gave me pause because women are desperate for love and would compromise themselves and their beliefs in searching for that unicorn. Strangers in my Bed was not my favorite story by Jade West. I was a little disappointed and struggled to finish the book, but the ending was worth it.

Ok this was soooo different from Jade's usual books. This was brutal.
This is NOT a romance story, not really but I was hooked!!! This was a story about abuse, manipulation, gaslighting...So poignant and relevant. I am so glad I read this and huge hugs to the author for tackling this!!!!
Just keep an open mind when you go in. This was a rough ride!!

I don’t know how to rate this one. Strangers in my Bed is truly unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Hands-down the most graphic book I’ve ever read and it made me extremely uncomfortable at times. But the true thought-provoking story really enraptured me.

The longest book I’ve read in years, the last 40% consumed me because just how fucked up will it get? Yes, that fucked up.

From the darkest chapters to a truly sweet and memorable HEA but then… PHEW.

Go in blind but please heed the trigger warnings.

★3.60 deceiving stars★

Have you ever been in love? I don’t mean If you have ever loved someone I mean if you have ever been so blindly in love to give up who you are for the other person. How far would you go for the right person? And when does love stop being that and becomes something else? This is Jade West baby, she won’t just push your boundaries, she will shove you out of your comfort zone, so far out you will wonder how to come back. Off I went into this disturbing journey. I wouldn’t expect anything less from this author.

~𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆... 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒉𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆...~

This is Cass’ story and to say it’s complicated, messed up and an absolute cluster fuck would be belittling. At first, I didn’t like Cass at all, she came across as needy and clueless, her insecurities led her to say yes on every occasion, she was so desperate to please Ant she went out of her way to do it. As I kept reading and got to know her better I actually felt sorry for her, I wanted to shake her, she was selling herself short and she deserved more.

~𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒃𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆, 𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒚, 𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒅𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅~

Ant seemed the perfect gentleman, only I never bought into his creepy ways, so many signals alerted me of his dubious behaviour. I was hugely upset Cass was so blind to such glaring giveaway.
He’s manipulative and controlling but hides it well under his smooth aura, and apparently classy veneer, the world would never guess what lurks underneath.

Then one day in comes Gerwyn, he’s Ant’s best friend and they call him the crusader. He’s about to find out how true such description befits him. Will his crusade be enough to save the day? Only one way to find out… do you dare embarking on this journey? Jump on the crazy wagon the Queen of smut brings to your door?

The story is told from Cass POV, which added mystery and compelled me to read on. I’m glad I didn’t know what went through Ant’s mind, since I don’t think I could despise him even more than I already do. I have hardly ever felt so disgusted with a character. His manipulative, controlling and seedy persona had nothing likeable,

Overall this was a rough and uncomfortable journey and that’s why I chose to venture into this author’s world, she can deliver that icky feeling like no other. I know I’m twisted like that ;) but my inner deviant reader needs what it needs, and Ms West’s unapologetically writing style was it.

Before wrapping this up I’d like to state that I p͎e͎r͎s͎o͎n͎a͎l͎l͎y͎ wouldn’t describe this as romance… so tread carefully and make a conscious decision bearing in mind this is Jade West’s world and it’s never a cosy, pleasant walk.

Whenever I pick a Jade West book, I expect it to be twisted and filthy hot. Strangers in my Bed just took it to a whole new level. My stomach was tied in knots. My heart wouldn't stop pounding. This erotic suspense made me a complete emotional mess. It is dark and deviant and layered and just so much more complex than I can express with words. Gripping. Raw. Unputdownable.

First of all, read the blurb. This is not a book you go in blind because it will be a hard one to read if you dont pay attention to the triggers. Hell even I was struggling with the sheer brutal impact and I take pride on my tolerance level for twisted stories. Wedding planner Cassandra aka Cass meets Anthony "Ant" Bardsman at a wedding. And she is instantly charmed by her. She was heartbroken and feeling low and Ant made her feel so precious and desirable. Except he has certain filthy demands she has to fulfil and she was eager to please him. But limits get stretched. Enter Ant's best friend who can help her unveil Ant's secrets. But will it break her?

I will put extra emphasis on the part that this book is not for everyone. Read the blurb and enter with an open mind. And not just because of the physical depravity or sexual debauchery. There are mindfcking mind games. The level of complexity in the characters' actions is astounding. You will hate them. You will love them. They will make you feel lusty and high. There is a very deep and strong message beneath all the games. It's not about the fantasy and dirty pleasures of bodies. It's about twisting and controlling the hearts. There is a happily ever after but not in the conventional sense. And I am extremely happy with the ending. I don't know what to feel about the epilogue though.

Cass is a beautiful and smart woman who was emotionally vulnerable and that's when Ant took his entry. He is charming and enigmatic but he has dark secrets. And his dirty fantasies are just the tip of the iceberg. This man can switch from light to dark so easily and you will keep on wondering which is his true face. Rich and powerful and impressive as a gentleman but the monster hides behind the prettiest face. Their dynamic was an explosive and unstable one. And Gerwyn the crusader is an interesting part of the puzzle. The nice man. The protector. The voice of rightness and morality. I was just caught in the web created by Jade West. I swear I cannot remember the last time a book gave me so much anxiety and panic. The erotic parts definitely kept it exciting but the emotional parts kept me on the edge. I am repeating. Go in with open mind. Strangers in my Bed is something so unique and exhilarating that you have to experience it yourself to understand. Don't fret about right and wrong. Don't analyse if the decisions made by Cass or Ant or Gerwyn are morally correct or not. Just immerse yourself in the pleasure and the suspense and emotions.
