"As equally heartfelt as it is delightfully gory, Matron grips readers from the very first page." -Revised Ink
An unlikely alliance between kingdoms agreed upon, the champions of Halja plunge into the Middle to quell the vesper threat and seize the artifact empowering them. They know not the horrors they will face. After ages of isolation and betrayal, they must learn to trust one another or die in the face of insurmountable odds. The wit of pirates, the ferocity of Mo-Duo's queen, the Gift of the magicians, and even Jurgen's unshakable strength will be tested, shattered, and reborn. Not everyone will make the journey home, and some may not even have a home to return to.
Treachery abounds across Halja as the Bowman readies his army for the invasion of La Isla, and King Grax leads the mighty viri forti to the gates of Nuntias. Puppets on strings, the world dances for the hedge magician Cruor, and his chaotic plan unfolds. Yet there are those who exist beyond his manipulations...
Now in the care of her sisters, Beatrice lies broken, her ruined body a sick invitation from the Ashen Man to Mother.
Mother will meet her foe. And she will have her vengeance.
My only fault with this book was it was too short. After reading the first book of this series I knew I had to read this one and I am so glad I did, now I just have to wait for the next book.
