Oh man, it’s been AGES since I enjoyed a good story and this one packed a punch. Its part of a series but it wasn’t too hard for me to follow. It has humor, suspense, two awesome MCs with a bad ass heroine & a non manho Hero who are perfect for each other, side characters that were fun too and a talking parrot that will have you in stitches.

Safety:
-Safe. No cheating. NO OM/OW drama. No sex scenes with OP.
-This is a PG read and there are unfortunately no sex scenes at all. (bummer)
- Heroine is 20 yrs old and no past history provided. No mention either if she is a virgin.
-Hero is not a Manho. In the beginning, it was briefly mentioned that he had been dating a local woman who he planned to ask to marry but because he arrested her brother, she broke things off. No other mentions were made about her.

Backstory: Heroine is running from a bad dude. She comes to town in search of her unknown Father. Meets Hero who is a cop. They bond instantly and there is a slow burn where they becomes friends, fall in love and are together from the start. She ends up meeting her blood family, wins the guy and HEA.

Recommend to anyone who is looking for a safe, funny and totally adorable couple and a sweet romance…

“Hang tight, Nico,”
“Miss you already,” he crooned, tucking his head into his feathered chest, his normal reaction when I left him, whether it was five minutes or ten hours.
“Drama queen,” I muttered
---
“Bad boys, bad boys. Whatcha gonna do?” My lips pressed together and Noah stared at me as the singing continued. “Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? Bad boys, bad boys.”

“Bad boys, bad boys. Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?”

Noah opened his mouth, then shut it with a shake of his head, and scooped up a forkful of lasagna.

“PoPo! Run! PoPo!” Nico screeched and Noah choked.

“Hush,” I hissed, waving at Nico in his cage. “Or I will cover you.” He let out an offended squawk, flapping his wings as he gave me his back. “He hates to be covered,” I explained as Noah stared at me. “I wouldn’t actually cover him, but sometimes the threat is enough.”

Noah glanced over his shoulder but Nico’s cage was blocked from his view. “What is it?” He asked. and Nico raked his beak across the bars of his cage, making a racket. Noah winced. “Who?” He tried again.

“Nico,” Nico shouted at the same time I said, “My parrot.”
“Okay,” Noah said slowly, glancing down at his plate. “Your lasagna is good.”
“It’s Stouffers,” Nico shouted and I closed my eyes, rubbing my temple as my head started to pound. A low rumble had me opening my eyes as Noah began to laugh. “Let me out!” Nico shrieked. “Funny bird!”
“Nico, this is Noah Breaux. He changed the tire today for me. Noah, I’d like you to meet Nico, my too smart for his own damn good, African Grey parrot.”
Noah nodded at Nico, “It’s nice to meet you, Nico.”
“You too. You too. Noah Breaux.” Nico ruffled his feathers, his head turned as he trained one eye on Noah. “Teach me something.”
Noah snorted, but looked at Nico. “Do you know what a 129 is?”
“No, Nico no.”
“It means to request back up,” Noah answered and Nico paced along the booth behind me. “More,” Nico ordered and I smiled. Nico liked him. Noah gave a relieved sigh.
“126 – Proceed with caution,” he quickly told Nico, who cackled.
“More!” Nico cried and I raised my hand.
“Nope. Two for today is enough,” I stated, knowing Nico would keep asking all night if I let him. Nico let out a huff, but didn’t say it again.
“Goodnight, Nico.”
“Sleep tight. Don’t let the bedbugs bite,” Nico answered, flying back to his cage. “No funny business.”

Noah shot me a wide eyed stare and I shook my head. “He’s joking.”
“Am not,” Nico replied.

---
“You have bacon?”
“Is the Pope Catholic?”
“Let’s go!” It wasn’t Cadence who answered as Nico flew from somewhere inside and landed on her shoulder. “Chop, chop. Bacon, woman!”
“I hope you have a lot of bacon,” she muttered, coming down the steps, and shutting the door behind her. “He’s a hog.”
“Oink!” Nico did an extremely impressive imitation of a pig and I glanced at them in surprise.
“He likes Animal Planet,” Cadence explained. “I leave the TV on for him when I have to go anywhere.”
“Explains a lot,” I murmured

--
“Bang, bang!”
“Uh huh,” I mumbled, narrowing my eyes warningly. “You better be a good birdie.” Noah rubbed his mouth, hiding a smile as Nico tucked his head under a wing. “I’ll see you later.”

“Miss you already,” he answered, his beady eyes glued to the television.

----
“Of course,” he replied, placating me. “You just drank a flask of 100 proof moonshine that I’ve seen send grown men to the hospital. You’re fine.”
“Damn straight,” I agreed, thrusting my hand up and then twisting it around to look at it. “Hands are weird.” Nico flew over my head. “Birdie!” His beady eye inspected me.
“Shitfaced. Plastered. Got in the hooch,” he cawed, his feathers ruffling.
“Mean birdie,” I muttered
----
“I missed something,” I mumbled, stuffing the last of my sandwich in my mouth as Nico started jiving across the table. “What exactly does he get one hour of?”
“A music channel.”
“And that’s bad?” I guessed and she narrowed her eyes at me.
“Ever listened to parrot karaoke?”
“No,” I answered definitively. “I didn’t know it was a thing.”
“It’s not.” She rolled her shoulders. “It shouldn’t be.”
“But you just promised him an hour of….,” I struggled to keep a straight face as I continued, “Parrot karaoke?”
“Basically.” She grimaced. “Forgiveness doesn’t come cheap.”
“I’m still trying to wrap my brain around parrot karaoke.”
---
“They say we’re young and we don’t know. We won’t find out until we grow. Well I don’t know if all that’s true. ‘Cause you got me and baby I got you,” Nico crooned and I cringed as he tried and failed to hit a note.

“Babe.”

I did a double take, thinking Cadence had noticed me until I realized her eyes were closed.

“I got you, babe,” she sang, bobbing her head. “I got you, babe.”

“They say our love won’t pay the rent. Before it’s earned, our money’s all been spent. I guess that’s so, we don’t have a plot. But at least I’m sure of all the things we got,” Nico belted out, enthusiasm making up for a total lack of talent.

There was a pause and I realized Cadence had noticed me. She waved her hand at me and Nico gave me a beady look.

“Babe,” Cadence prompted, her eyebrow arched expectantly.

I licked my lower lip, and unwilling to back down from a challenge, pitched my voice lower as I sang, “I got you, babe.”

“I got you, babe.” We sang the next line in unison, earning me a brilliant smile from Cadence, and I continued to sing along until we’d finished the song with Nico.

“Alright, we’re going to dinner,” Cadence announced and Nico’s head drooped. “But, I’ll leave the music channel on while I’m gone.” His wings flapped excitedly and he hopped around, his head already bopping in time to the next song.

“Miss you already,” Nico called before belting out, “What’s new, pussycat?”

I backed out the door, not ready to do another sing along and Cadence followed me, wearing a smirk as I said, “Parrot karaoke.”

“Parrot karaoke,” she confirmed, closing the door and locking it. “We’re lucky he decided on the 60’s channel.”

“Lucky,” I repeated, not sure I would ever forget hearing a parrot sing Sonny and Cher

----
Hello?”

“Does that boy never answer his own phone?”

“Not when I have it,” I answered promptly and heard him sigh.Ice clinked in the background. “One of these days I’m going to know what I did to deserve all these smart mouthed women in my life.”

“I think it’s a stretch to consider me a woman in your life,” I retorted and he snorted.

“I’m talking to you, aren’t I?”

“Not for long,” I replied and he laughed, surprising me

----
“POPO in the house!” Nico flapped his wings excitedly. “POPO in the house.” I heard the unmistakable sound of a round being chambered in a shotgun.
“How do we know you’re not under duress?” Leroy yelled back.
I groaned. “Nico, 220 means all clear.”
“220,” he squawked, flying to the back. “220.”
----
Leroy jerked his head, indicating we should go, pointing the shotgun at me warningly. “And there will be no hanky panky in my house.”
“Noted,” I responded, my hand curving around Cadence’s hip as she ducked her head to hide her smile. “Too late to change our mind?” I murmured under my breath and she elbowed me. “Guess so.”
“I can hear you,” Leroy snapped. “I’m old not deaf.” He glared at me. “Remember that if you get any ideas.” Cadence didn’t bother to hide her laughter as Nico flew by screeching, “Hanky panky, spanky spanky.”

---
“We don’t need to go that far, but I appreciate the thought.” She gave me a stern look. “Especially since you haven’t even asked me to marry you.”
“I thought that was me asking you,” I exclaimed and she rolled her eyes, leaning forward to kiss me. My hand slide underneath her top as her tongue slipped between my lips and my hips tilted up, settling her deeper on my lap.
“Hanky panky! No hanky panky,” Nico screeched, flying above our heads. “Hanky panky, hanky panky. Gonna call Pappy.”
Cadence leaned back with a sigh, her lips puffy, and told Nico, “Bad Nico.”
He shook his head, feathers ruffling. “Good boy.”
“Who’s Pappy?” I questioned and Cadence frowned.
“Leroy.” She gave Nico an irritated look. “I knew it was a mistake to let him stay with Leroy yesterday afternoon.”

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads
======================
I haven't read the previous books and I don't think it interferes with the enjoyment of this book. A good story with a captivating hero. It all fits together perfectly in the end and we even have an epilogue for each couple in the series. Liked it.

I think this one might be my favorite out of the set. Cadence was a fun character to get to know and I really liked the unraveling of a few mysteries that had been tossed into several of the books, little hints as it were. I do and don't like the epilogue, it gives an update on all the couples which is awesome but leaves ya wanting more instead of tying things up 😂

Action packed

I don’t usually give 5 stats but this book has it all! Comedy, a twist, love, and of course bikers doing what they do. Add in cops trying to ke the peace and sty inside the law in a small town, I couldn’t put it down!
