The Doctor is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. A long time ago, they stole a TARDIS in a bid to explore the universe in complete freedom. When near death, Time Lords have the ability to regenerate, forming a new body and personality quirks. Recently, the Doctor discovered they had lived through an unknown number of regenerations which had been wiped from their memory. This is the story of one of those forgotten lives, known as the Fugitive Doctor…
Nice to have some more stories with The Fugitive (Doctor) in it, but this suffers from what plagues most of the Doctor Who stuff from Titan these days: too little substance.
With the caveat that “canon” is always in scare quotes when it comes to Doctor Who, this takes a pretty big “canon” swing for a Free Comic Book Day story.
I absolutely love the Fugitive Doctor Who. It's perfect. It feels in some much needed holes in the storyline. It always seemed to perfect for me the regeneration process that created each new Doctor Who, especially since our first Doctor Who was presented as such an older person with adult grandkids. Grandkids that didn't grow up to become the new Doctor Who. So I just knew someone was taking the TARDIS on adventures and returning without anyone in the alternative timelines being aware of what's going on. I can't wait for more adventures.
I was under the impression that this issue would be more explicit about the Fugitive Doctor pre-dating the First Doctor, but it’s still not outright stated. It’s a small adventure with the Fugitive Doctor trying to catch a couple aliens. The kids saying nobody over thirteen is allowed in their clubhouse seems like it might be a reference to her meeting Thirteen on the show. The First Doctor’s arrival on Earth is shown at the end, though his face looks too smooth the way it’s illustrated. Kind of a middle of the road story, which is sometimes to be expected from FCBD issues. But I am looking forward to reading the Origins story arc.
Maybe because she's a black woman with dreadlocks who even a decade ago would not have been made a Doctor, but she's my favorite. Introduced recently and making my beloved universe even more true to the real world, she is unstoppable. I love her attitude and secretive backstory.
So this was a freebie comic book I found. I abostly love doctor who do I was curious about this. Looked amazing. Loved what I read. Wish it was a tiny bit longer but oh well. Still was a good read though.
This short little story features the Renegade Doctor helping some kids stop killer stuffed animals. It’s silly and brief; exactly the sort of thing you’d expect to see in a Free Comic Book Day issue. A fun little bite of WHO.
I absolutely love Dr Who. This is the fugitive Dr. A and I thought it was great. Another piece of the Dr. puzzle. I like this fugitive Dr. a bit more gritty . Really enjoyed it.
FCBD stories are getting shorter. Cool to see the fugitive doctor, but we get like two pages of “what if troll dolls were aliens” and that’s it? I remember when there used to be 3-4 shorts in a FCBD issue like it was just last week (bc last week is when I read those)
I had so many problems with this one that, though reading it took about as long as it takes to eat a sandwich, giving a full account would take much more time. lastly, I suspect that Titan Comics left out the last page by mistake. but I honestly couldn't tell.
