Returning to Penworth Bay was always going to be difficult for Carrie Turner, but as soon as she steps inside The Cornish Bay Bakery and is greeted by Elsie, she is soon reminded of the warm and fuzzy feeling of her childhood.

After travelling abroad for years, it was time to face the inevitable. She could no longer avoid clearing out and selling her late mother’s home; the cottage she grew up in.

The close-knit community of her past rallies around to support her, and soon she forgets she’s ever been away and why she’d been so reluctant to return. With the sand between her toes and old friends around her, she falls back in love with the idyllic bay she grew up in.

Carrie is delighted to discover her childhood best friend, Danny, has made the bay his home and when he offers to help her, will memories of growing up together be all they share or will unexpected feelings emerge between them?

So sweet.

I adore this series and am excited about moving on to the next book. The characters are all sweet and relatable. As an added bonus, the end of the story is not the end for the characters since they all continue to pop back up.

I gave this book 4 stars only because the character was very annoying and acted completely irrationally toward her beau. I know this has nothing to do with grammar and punctuation, but to me a book review is supposed to not only be about those things, but also writer’s style and their characters.

There was a part in this book and the previous that brought tears to my eyes because it was so touching, but the annoying chick overrode my fifth star. Sorry!

Next is book 8 of 14 - Wedding Fever at the Cornish Bakery. And, ya, all of these books are pretty much the same, but that’s ok because I enjoy them. They are a break away from my usual cozy mysteries in which someone is always murdered. I keep waiting for Elsie or Wendy to walk into the bakery and find a dead person. Lol. No! These aren’t that kind of read.

NOTE: I tried to post this review about 10 different times throughout this day, but kept getting an error message that Goodreads server was too busy. I restarted my phone, re-signed into the app…All the normal stuff. I finally had to remove the app and reinstall for it to work. I was finally able to post this review! Maybe if I’d given it a 5 star it wouldn’t have given me so many problems! Lol.

I am very sad and disappointed and this is not your typical Cornish bakery book. Both the characters were nice in this book and I think this is the first time both the lead characters grew up in the bay. Having that in mind I really expected the story somewhat different but this is not what I was expecting from this series. SORRY!!!!!!!

Returning to the Cornish Bakery

I have really enjoyed reading this series of books. Each was different in it’s own way. They all have everything, love sadness, happiness and lots of feel good friendships. I just have to keep going on to the next one.

Easy to loose yourself in the events and people at the cornish bakery. You can imagine taking every step with them and share their good times and bad.

I really enjoyed hearing about Carrie and Daniel who both had lived in the bay previously but things are not as simple as that.
