If you’re looking for a badass fmc who has a penchant for murder and ripping out hearts then stop and read this please 👀
Rosie has been trained since she was little in the art of murder. You name it she has mastered it. She was to become her family’s secret weapon, after all no one would suspect a women. One fateful night on her 18th birthday, what was supposed to be a ball turned into a bloodshed and her entire family is massacred. Jay, the son of the enemy family kept her distracted in the garden and now she’ll make him pay.
Whilst it’s not a Alice in Wonderland retelling there are nods to the theme which I do love. It helps to build the world in the story and I do find that Alice (the author 😂) is really good at world building in her stories, I always feel sucked in. I adore the supporting characters and hints to possible future stories. Elijahs character being a favourite of mine was fun to read and the dynamic between him and Rosie had me howling at parts.
I loved the spice between Rosie and Jay, it definitely built up and Rosie is such a wind up merchant she knew what she was doing to get under his skin. I specifically liked the kitchen scene with the spatula. 🙊
I’m really interested in where Alice is going to take this series! Book 2 in the WunderLnd Corp series, White Rabbit is going to be out on October 5th!
Not for me, I guess. I think this book could have been better if the prologue had been added as flashbacks. The start is far too slow, and the plot is messy. I mean—I know where this is going (🌶️), but I kind of wanted more. Cool premise but lacks execution.
September 2024 Kindle edition Alphabet challenge - Q
Slim pickings for Q. This was a good one. Solid with a nice little Wonderland theme going. Rosie was quirky in a River Song meets 1950's way, shifting from perfect baker to murderer. Cato and Eli were cool. Curious about Lola. Thought that would be the next book, but nope. Cliffhanger with Elijah in jail. Curious but not looking forward to a prison vibe book. May come back to this one, we'll see.

Rosie and Jay are electric together. And my favorite part was that the Author never changed Rosie. She was bloodthirsty from prologue to epilogue & I loved it. This isn’t an Alice in Wonderland adaptation of normal standards but it is heavily influenced by the story. Jay was the epitome of Simp Hero & I loved it. Even when he was fighting his attraction for Rosie, he was still so gone for her. I can’t wait for Creeds story, I have no idea who his love interest is going to be but he deserves everything. I also hope we get Lola back, I want to know more about her & her stalker.
Loved this book! I have read Mafia books before but I can say I have never read any like this. Julian and Rosie were perfect! In mafia romances it is usually Mafia Alphahole and his lady is usually of the naive sort. Rosie is the furthest thing from a naive damsel you can get. She is feisty, confident, empowered, devious and she IS the Alpha in this story. She fights for her place and I love her for it! Julian I loved because although he was a man of the Mafia, I felt he listens to her. He is forceful when needs to be but he also listens and takes note of what is happening around him. Creed I won't mention because I freaking adore him and I can't wait for his book! Get ready to fall down the Rabbit Hole! These characters will keep you hooked.
All I can say I was not expecting how unhinged Rosie was. And Julian balanced her out so well.... definitely reading the next book to what happens with the plot
Did I read this book in literally one day? Yes. Do I regret my choices? Absolutely not lol. Rosie is a bad b*itch out for revenge, she is slightly unhinged but that is what makes her more amazing. Julian was perfect, he had such a good heart deep down and was head over heels for Rosie. Rosie had the best character arc, the way it all came together is why I read this book in a literal day. This book is not a retelling of Alice and Wonderland, however, there are nods to the original story which is my favorite. So excited for Creeds story later this year and hoping we get Lola back cause I NEED to know 1. who her stalker is and 2. what is she running from?!
Although I'm a sucker for fairy tale retellings, and I thought that's what I was getting into here, I'm sincerely glad that this WAS NOT an Alice in Wonderland retelling.
Sure, there are a few elements that you'll recognize from Alice in Wonderland (such as the title character, Queen of Hearts), but beyond character names there's not much of the Lewis Carroll story present.
Queen of Hearts follows a mafia princess who loses everything in one violent night and is forced into hiding. Over the course of ten years she gathers a following that helps her seek revenge on those who destroyed her family, with one name at the top of the list (being saved for last)
I'm always scared reading Mrs. La Roux books because they are so damn good and I forget I have a life. Yeah, true story! This book did it again. It kept me glued until the end, I couldn't put it down. I kept saying 'just one more chapter' and poof it was already morning. I freaking loved this story, and I try to avoid mafia romance but this one goes on my top 10 books I read this year. The world she built and the characters are simply amazing. Am I trying to avoid talking about the story itself? hell yes, because it's so well written that honestly, I'd be spoiler all of it soooo, no for the time I won't. grab your copy and read it yourself.
I absolutely enjoyed this book! Rosie is one of the fiercest FMC who maintains her strong personality throughout the plot. She doesn't back down from her beliefs in making wrongs right no matter how bloody it gets, and she's unapologetic for her actions. Jay wanted to do the right thing and didn't have the arrogance or an alpha attitude like most MMC. He knows his strengths.
Why the four stars (more like 4.5 stars)? There were two fantastic characters like Lola and Eli we didn't know more about, and the next book was supposed to be out already. I'm satisfied with the ending but would be excited to read part two, Down the Rabbit Hole, when Alice La Roux decides to release it.
Eeeeek Mrs la roux has done it again 👏 slow clap. I had an internal battle while reading this book I wanted to consume it as quickly as possible but I wanted to savour it also. The latter won out. I bloody loved every aspect and cannot wait to see where it will go next. What other shakeups will come? Bring on the next, Eeeeeek.
He's thoughtful before turning to violence and she's the unhinged Harley Quinn type with a vedetta. I enjoyed these characters and especially the fact the neither actually changes. The just accept each other for who they are. I read this mostly because I needed a Q title for my 2025 read the alphabet challenge, but I'm interested enough to keep on with the series!
First book I've read from this author and I love , love , loved it. Alice in wonderland with a Mafia twist. I loved Rosie and Julian so much. Their chemistry was Hot. Who doesn’t love a enemies to lovers romance. This book was amazing and i can't wait for more books in this universe.
