Life seems simple enough for Owen Richards. He likes it simple. Twenty-nine, single, a steady girlfriend, and unburdened by religion. Owen enjoys his work as an elite police officer. Then his best friend is killed during a dangerous hostage rescue. . . . With compelling characters and razor-sharp suspense, Race Against Time is a pulse-pounding triumph by talented author Willard Boyd Gardner.
Owen Richards, police officer and SWAT, sees his best friend die and the killer is "presumed dead". He takes some time off to get himself together and agrees to accompany his friends cousin back to her home in Missouri. While there he goes back in time to early LDS Church events. I was a little confused at times. Not sure where this was going. Come to find out it really is the first half of a story broken into two books. Alone, it is OK. With Pursuit of Justice, I really enjoyed it.
Listening to this at work! It was a great book! I love David Walker as the narrator - I've listened to him read quite a few other books, and I really enjoy him. I will defenitely read another one of Willard Boyd Gardners books!
Owen Richards was clueless! For a police officer he was not very good at figuring stuff out and the ending was lame. The synopsis of this book was better than the book itself. The book is really like two stories in one and the first is tragic and the second is not believable. It did have moments that were exciting but overall not really worth the read.
Ty and I read this together, which was kind-of fun! It was fun-I really like this author-but I like his other book -The Operative- better. (I know-it's Mormon fiction, but he really is a good author!)
