The Men of Engine 17 #6
Christmas at Engine 17
Keith Nix. Engine 17’s newest fireman is tall, with golden blond hair, and a smile that can turn a girl’s insides to jelly. He also happens to be the world's best neighbor.
He's thoughtful and kind, clearing the snow from my walkway every day and checking to see if my car's tires need air. He never seems to mind that I smell like dog, either. I'm a veterinarian; it comes with the territory.
But Keith has hidden scars that he doesn't want the world to see--both physical and emotional. He feels beastly, unworthy of love. How can I show him that couldn't be further from the truth? It might just take a Christmas miracle...

Way too short, cute concept

Alright, this was sweet and I did like the writing and the general plot for the novella.
But it's also only 42 PAGES?
That's it?!
If I had even 50 more pages I think I could have gone with a higher rating. I just needed more background, interactions, etc.

Even though this sweet Christmas novella was less than 50 pages long it was full of the best holiday feels and the most swoon-worthy hunky but scarred hero. A quick, kissing only romance between a curvy vet and the firefighter next door who secretly pines for her. I loved everything about this one and can't wait to read the other books in the series!

I was just trying to reach my reading goal and it’s only 40 pages long 😅

I have three books left to reach my goal and one day to do it. 🤣🤣🤣 Desperate times.

The shortest book I’m reading is called “Christmas at Engine 17” The sixth and final series of Men at Engine 17 by Ash Keller. I love this series and hate that it ended so quickly. A fantastic series that is incredibly fast-paced, enjoyable to read, has attractive men, and leaves you wanting more. The characters in this series are cute, charming, and funny, which is why I enjoy them all. Who doesn't enjoy a sense of romance Christmas story? Yes, I do too. This time, I loved the attraction and a little steamy kissing between Keith and Piper, a neighbour who works as a firefighter and veterinarian and has a strong love for animals. Will he wish to find love while letting go of his past? Will she believe that his neighbour has developed feelings for her? I would have loved to see a bit more of their relationship's growth. I'd like to read more of this author's books.

Christmas at Engine 17
Reader’s Notes:
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Piper & Keith’s points of view
Review:
I removed a star just because I wanted a little bit more to the story/the development of their relationship.
Overall, this was a quick and cute Christmassy romance! I loved the silly antics of a certain pet, Piper’s heart for animals and people (even if it led her to less in her paycheck at the end of the day), and Keith’s want to protect Piper. I loved the ending with a bunch of the characters from the other books in the series and getting to see them a little further along in their stories than we got to see
Summary:
Piper thinks her neighbor is cute, but that he also isn’t even slightly interested in her no matter how many times he comes by to shovel the snow from her driveway. If he was interested, wouldn’t he speak more than a few words to her?
Keith finds Piper to be a beauty, but thinks himself too much of a beast. The beauty should get a princely man, not whatever Keith could offer her.
Can these two find love with each other?

Keith and me…perfect for each other? Yeah, right.
The man is drop-dead gorgeous. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he turned out to be a long-lost Hemsworth brother.
Occasionally, I’ll buy a log of frozen cookie dough, but I usually end up eating it raw.
Yes, I know the risk of salmonella. I am a vet, after all.
I’m also human. And who can resist?

I enjoyed this novella. It was sweet, had cats and dogs, the plot and writing was well written. But it was way too short for me. 3 stars.

Sometime ago Ash Keller asked her readers if they wanted anymore stories about the Men of Engine 17. I had read all of them to date and replied “More please”. This short story is one of them, and I am so glad that Ash complied. She has a special ability to write emotional romantic stories, and this one doesn’t disappoint. As I was reading it brought tears to my eyes. I could imagine everything in my mind actually happening to the characters in real life. I guess you can tell that I thoroughly enjoyed the story. All the Men of Engine 17 in her books are examples of the finest firemen you could ever want to know. I highly recommend this story.
I was given a copy of this story, and this is my honest review.

I downloaded the 1-3 set of these books from stuff your kindle day. I didn’t realize it was three novellas in one, but I really did enjoy them! I read the second set of books 4-6 as well.
I understand totally that these stories are very very short novellas, but the author was able to give *just* enough back story to make me love all of the characters and their stories. Even though we already know the ending of everything, I would absolutely read them if she did a rewrite with longer stories for everyone.
I feel wrong adding six books to my read, but oh well. I’m going to copy and paste this for all of them since I read them as a single set on KU

Another great romcom in the Men of Engine 17 series! I loved Piper and Keith, and their story was such fun to read. I really enjoyed this book! This is a quick read and it’s such a sweet story that will put a smile on your face this holiday season! I love Ash Keller’s books and I cannot wait to read her next release!
Highly recommend!
I received a complimentary ebook copy of this book from the author.
My review was not influenced in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.

Piper is a sweet, sunny veterinarian giving everything she can to their local shelter. Keith is the shy, somewhat standoffish fireman who lives next door. In the midst of a crisis, can these neighbors rely on each other or will their chemistry get in the way in a crisis? This was completely adorable. I just wish there had been more of it. I enjoyed getting the chance to look back in on our favorite Engine 17 couples, but I wanted even more time with all of them. I’m hoping that this still may not be the end.

Not much better than a sexy fireman!
My only complaint is that this is about 100 pages shorter than I wanted it to be. Keith continues to prove there isn’t a clinker in the Engine 17 house. Piper is adorable, kindhearted and can mangle a cookie like nobody’s business!
Absolutely sweet all the way through and you really get a good sense of Keith’s internal pain and shame. The perfect read while under a fuzzy throw sipping coffee while it snows.

Short stories
These are cute, clean, romantic, short stories that leave you wanting MORE. Which is fun and problematic at the same time. There is very little character development. The romance is not slow burn. They meet, then as soon as you get to the first kiss, the story is over. I have read 6 "books" of the series in one evening. They call them novellas, but they are very short.

Engine17 crew has the biggest hearts!
This is the perfect holiday lunchtime read. A whole love story and lots of furry friends get a happily ever after ending. And as a bonus, we get to visit with old friends at Engine17 who are already living their own happy endings.
I received an ARC copy of this story from the author via BookFunnel and voluntarily chose to share my review.

Vet Piper has decided to board animals for Christmas. Her neighbor Keith also decides to stay home. This book is a feel good Ash Keller book. A quick and easy read which will pull at your heartstrings. Great Christmas story, I loved it!

Piper is a vet and she’s known to be a very friendly person. Kevin is sorta new to town who’s her next door neighbor and a firefighter. She tries to be a nice neighbor to him but to her he seems to be stand-offish with her. She knows he’s hiding something and wants to get to know him better.

Super cute Christmas novella
I don't think the other books in the series need to be read before this one, but it's not the worst idea. I liked the simplicity of knowing what was going to happen but also being a little surprised with this series. It's a good series to read after a heavy or real dramatic book.

This one feels a little different than the others, because the characters don't feel as intricately knit together with the originals, but I still liked it. Quick, easy resolution, my favorites. Too short, as per usual with this series. These definitely could have been fleshed out with more, and they would have been wonderful.

This was a short (42 pages) novella of Piper, a veterinarian and her neighbor, Keith, a firefighter.
I loved the Christmas vibes but also the sweetness of Keith’s story. He doesn’t believe himself to be worthy of love, especially from Piper. But she sees him completely as the opposite.
I do wish this was a little longer so that we could see more character growth, backgrounds, etc. but overall a cute story with lovable characters.

A cute novella about Piper, a vet and her new neighbour and firefighter, Keith. He's a very thoughtful neighbour and as they start getting to know each other, she discovers he has hidden hurts that have affected his perception of himself. This is a heartwarming, very short book about this sweet couple.

firemen, vet, rescue
A story that shows some of the men of engine 17 in action. A heroic fireman and a local vet both with hearts of gold, who better to get thrown together. Add in a little neighborly kindness and an actual fire to sweeten things up, just a perfect happily ever after

Another great firefighter story
Really enjoyed this story, as I have all the Men of Engine 17 books. But who doesn’t love a firefighter, animals, and a heroine with a heart of gold? Love the the camaraderie, the connection, and of course, the happily for now.

This is the perfect read if you don't have a lot of time. Keith was a great neighbor but seemed aloof. Piper found him very attractive. Would they ever be more than just neighbors?
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

Another Engine 17 book
I love how Ash Keller packs a lot of heart and character depth into these shorter stories. I also love how they’re all interconnected. I love seeing the cameos from characters of previous books. Piper is so endearing and I love that Keith gets accepted for who he is.
