Bree Harmony, or B. Harmony is an MM romance author with a penchant for writing about men finding love, hard rock, and a little bit of headbanging. Pretty obvious with the last name Harmony, right?
With survival instincts fueled by iced coffee and far too many swear words to rival any sailor, B. Harmony delivers equal amounts of heart and heat, because life is all about balance, right?
Loved the characters and the writing in this novella. A shorter story can pack a lot of punch. Sterling and Vincent were very well written. You could feel the chemistry between them and their dialogue was real. The heat between them was smoking as was the scene! I liked the part the dad played during an amusing discovery scene. I enjoyed reading this and will read more by this author. All the stars! I read this at Prolific Works.
* This novella popped up in a BookFunnel email and it was no problem to reread this fun, sexy, and well written read.
(Date finished November 3rd - 2,5 stars rated down) Sterling is a twenty-something paralegal working for his father and not-so-secretly lusting after Vincent, one of his father’s clients, who also happens to be his father’s best friend. As it turns out, Vincent has also been secretly lusting after Sterling. When Vincent's friends force him to go out for a night of dancing and drinking, he does so in the hopes of getting Sterling off his mind. However, things don’t go as planned when Sterling just happens to be at the same club. Unable to deny their mutual attraction, the two of them end up back at Vincent’s place.
Since the story opens with already established attraction between Sterling and Vincent, I struggled to feel any chemistry between the two. The story mostly consists of descriptions of Sterling and Vincent lusting after each other, which, of course, culminates in supposedly mind-blowing, life-changing, earth-shattering sex. I found the fact that Vincent had watched Sterling grow up and then started lusting after him a bit creepy.
“I’ve watched you grow up, and somewhere along the way, you went from the boy I always had a soft spot for to the man I’ve dreamed of.”
I got this story as a freebie from Prolific Works (and I believe it’s still available). As the author pointed out in their note, this is a short novella from the Perspective Series. The only character from the series that makes an appearance is Damon from Paper Airplanes, the second book in the series. So, I wouldn’t say this novella serves as an introduction to the series itself, but rather as an introduction to the author’s writing in general, which doesn’t seem to be working for me, but I might be willing to give it another shot.
